Happy Bottle Porn Friday! (Plus, Asteroid Day, if you don't have enough worries already.) Our community project for today: wear a fragrance that you bought because you were drawn to the aesthetics of the bottle, or just wear a fragrance from a bottle you think is perfect. Thanks to chocolatemarzipan8 for the idea!
What fragrance did you pick? As always, do chime in with your scent of the day even if you’re not participating in the community project.
I had a hard time choosing today, but in the end I went with one of my favorite bottles from 2016, Starck Paris Peau de Pierre.
Reminder: on 7/7 we're doing Sports Friday...wear a sports scent! If you just can't go there, wear the sort of fragrance you think one might actually wear while doing something sporty.
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2017, where I'll try to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.
Note: You can read about the Lou chairs designed by Philippe Starck at Designboom.
TGIF! I am wearing Kenzo Amour Florale. I really have a weakness for all Kenzo’s bottles, especially for the Amours and the Flowers. I cannot say they are porn bottles but very elegant and pretty. I have bought most of the flankers, even the limited editions. In recent weeks, I finished Indian Holi and I Love You. It was very painful to toss them in the garbage, but unfortunately, I do not have enough space to keep empty bottles. I need the room for new additions. I am sure I will keep adding Kenzos to my collection.
Oh I always loved those Kenzo bottles and am shocked that I never bought one….you smell great…I think the original Amour and Indian Holi were my favorite of the bunch.
Most of my Kenzo purchases have been blind and I have been happy with the juices. I I would say my favorite bottle is L’Eau De Kenzo and Indian Holi. However, Amour Florale and Flower are so beautiful. Later I will have to get replacements for Holi and I Love You, or all of them 🙂
Kenzo Amour Le Parfum was my runner-up for today; their swan neck really is so lovely.
The shape, color and juice of Amour Le Parfum is so attractive. One of my favorites from Kenzo.
I also love the Amour bottles. Even though I rarely wear it anymore, it’s the inly bottle I have out in my dresser. Like a modern art sculpture.
I wear them regularly. I never buy a perfume for the bottle, but with Kenzo is a different story.
I went with a Kenzo as well. Unidentified Fragrance Object- the “bottle” is such a unique design. It’s a bit of a pain to spray but the scent is wonderful!
The UFO bottle is out of this world. I don’t own a bottle, but I have tried the perfume which is gorgeous. I Iove the orange blossom opening and the incense-vanilla dry down. I have also fbs of Le Tigre (discontinued) and L’Elephant which are amazing.
“UFO bottle out of this world”
Snort!
😀
I love and am wearing UFO, and am wishing I could try the tigre–had an ancient sample of the elephant, but perhaps was not woman enough for it at the time…
Me too and me too!
I left the house commando (for my bottle porn I would have worn Montana Parfum de Peau, one of the greatest bottles ever) but now I’m in Dyptique 34 Blvd St-Germain, which is not only gorgeous but is packaged in Solid Case Porn, a glossy black, incredibly heavy zamak case with a magnetic closure that slams it shut authoritatively and the Dyptique logo embossed on the front. It seduced me into buying it and I’m not sorry.
Those compacts are great, agree, and very tempting.
I bought three on vacation last month! How could I resist?
I saw them in a store a few weeks ago and they were on display to try.
Opening and closing it gave me so much satisfaction hahaha. I just stood there holding it in my hand, staring the gorgeous design, open and close, open and close….hahhaha
I could resist buying them, because in that store they only came with fragrances I do not necessarily need/want.
Yay friday!
I never bought a perfume because of the bottle.
It is cloudy today, decided to wear sonething sunny.
Layering a few drops of body shop coconut oil – I found a small bottle discounted (for 3 or 4 euros)l last week – with A la Nuit.
Oh, that sounds perfect!
It is! 🙂
Too bad A la nuit is as good as gone gone after 4 hours. But I think we can all agree short and heavenly is always better than long and boring 😀
This morning I could not think immediately of the best looking bottle in my collection…but now I think it has to be SL Sarrasins.
Too bad the label is already loosening on the edge, just a tiny tiny bit, but still…not pretty.
Plus, short and heavenly inspires you to put on something else fantastic.
The labels always fall off my SLs too! I do love those bottles, though.
I am shamelessly excited about the usage of my idea…thanks for that Robin! And I love the bottle/perfume you have chosen for today….
Whilst I have been collecting the Escada LE bottles since 1994 and probably should have gone with one of those today, Lucas’s great review inspired a pairing of Assam AND Vanira…they are blending nicely 🙂
for those interested-

happy happy Friday…peace love light…keep calm and REEK ON!!!!!!
I’m so glad it pleases you 🙂
Happy to finally come up with an idea that we hadn’t done yet!
very nice!
Thanks for this fun project idea
Love your perfume, love your bottle , love your day 🙂
Wait… So you are not participating in the project that you’ve instigated?! 😉
LOL! of course I am! I bought my first Berdoues Assam of India BLIND because of the adorable elephants on the bottle….luckily I love the fragrance 🙂
I didn’t notice the elephants. It is a nice perfume. I should pay more attention to the bottle! 🙂
The day has come for the most striking bottle in my collection (or ANY collection, COME AT ME BRO): the downright pornographically stunning Lubin Idole EDT!
That bottle KILLS. I very nearly bought it for that alone, but never did for some reason (and I’ve had a decant of the scent and loved it: honestly I have no idea why I don’t own it).
Totally bought that one for the bottle upon learning it was being discontinued. You smell great, too.
Idole is one good looking bottle!
Fantastic choice.
Idole is stunning! And you smell fantastic!
Twins! It’s the coolest bottle I own 🙂 and I love the juice. You smell great!
The Idole bottle reminds me of the alien character on Babylon Five (the original with gorgeous Bruce Boxleitner-sp???)
Although I really like the bottles/packaging, I have never bought a perfume because of that. But it surely helps if I like the bottle.
I have chosen Dior Homme Cologne 2013. It’s not bottle port, but the tall semi transparent white bottle with the cool collar is very sexy.
Plus, hard to buy if you just HATE the bottle.
I have declined to buy things I liked because of bottle hatred (Romeo Gigli Uomo comes to mind: the sample was fine but the bottle was so hideous I refused to touch it).
Ha! I loved that bottle, back in the day. :^)
My choice is obvious, for when I bought the 10 ml plain mini of Pharrell Williams Girl I liked it… enough, but not enough to wear more than a few times a year… yet here I am a few weeks later owning THREE OUNCES. At least it was cheap! (Still on sale for $20 at fragrancenet y’all.) I do really like it… but I definitely did not need this much 🙂
Oh yes, that bottle and the price! Was I the one who talked you into buying it? YOu can always make decants from pretty bottles and gift them away…I do this all the time with some of my larger bottles.
I meeeean you didn’t talk me into it so much as confirm my belief that it was too cheap not to buy. I think “enabler” is the working word here 🙂
I have found that I really do not need 3 oz of anything anymore. Well, maybe Shalimar, but that’s it.
I have perfume eating skin so I could easily work my way through 3-4 ml of anything per day….
years ago before decants and samples were for sale there was no choice but full bottles…I would easily drain 7-10 per year.
I think I’m luckily in that regard. Even things that other people say do not last on their skin seem to last on mine, save for a few colognes which aren’t really meant to last anyway. 🙂
I confess a weakness for Girl, the scent that is. I had to buy it when I found a good price at Marshsll’s. But….The bottle kind of scares me!
I’m going to wear Miller Harris Fleur Oriental. It’s a very powdery spicy scent. I smell the similarity to Shalimar. One spray is more than enough. I like the flowers on the bottle. I was mainly searching for another MH, but it wasn’t in stock where I was online shopping. Total blind buy that worked out well. Have a great weekend!!
The bottle is beautiful! You smell great!
Love that one, beautiful choice!
Thank you all!
The Miller-Harris bottles are so pretty!
I had intended to wear Foin Fraîchement Coupé because of the tassels ( 😉 ), but somehow have ended up in Chant d’Arômes in one of those iconic bee bottles. Maybe not the prettiest of bottles, but I have developed a fondness for them because I mostly really love Guerlain.
Love the chairs!
Bee bottles are always wonderful.
I want that chair on the left. No idea what I’d do with it since it matches nothing in my house. I guess I’d redo the whole house.
That would be brilliant. They are great chairs, all three of them but the one on the left is the most distinctive.
I’m in Narciso Rodriguez Musc Oil for Her, a very simple but hefty black bottle out of which the oil slowly drips onto the skin. While I like this bottle, it’s not really “special” like some of the others above.
Like Sebastian above, I’ve never bought anything due to the bottle, but I’m always pleased when I like the bottle of a fragrance that I love.
I like the NR bottles, especially the white one.
I’m with you, bottle is definitely secondary to juice, but isn’t it nice when you like the bottle as well?
Yes! But I kind of admire being able to relax enough to just buy something because you love the bottle. I never get to be impulsive because I have to overthink everything.
Nope, you’re way is much better cause it saves you money in the long run 🙂 Take it from me as one who suffers from bottle porn!
And actually the NR bottles in different colors and sizes would look stunning on a dresser….white, black and pink.
I’m with you. I for one do not find the bottle to be secondary to the juice. They’re a package. When I love both, it’s bliss. When I don’t like the packaging, it annoys me every time I spray.
The best is when a perfume concept and bottle design go perfectly together. YSL Paris, for instance – also Opium. Or Shalimar (classic fan bottle) or Poison.
I adore the NR bottles, very sleek and elegant. And of course, the NR Musc oil for Her is gorgeous!
I was wearing Sinner, which came yesterday. The bottle is terrific. It smells similar to Lady Vengeance, but without the depth or projection. I switched, and put on Mad Madame, which I love, and has a great bottle. My guess is I will be returning Sinner. Have a great Friday everyone!
What is the design on the Sinner bottle — is it plastic? Glad to hear it is terrific, though, and sorry you do not love the juice.
It appears to be plastic, but very good quality. Heavy glass, and good cap. Without holding it, i think it looks more ceramic than plastic. I’m going to give it another try, I do like it, i just don’t know if i need something so similar to what i already have.
Oh good. Glad it does not look cheap in person.
Bottle porn..those beautiful AG bottles
Songes (not getting bored with this yet)
Candy Apple revlon lip, CG mascara and I am off to see Beguiled. S. Coppola’s new film. Lunch on the west side. I have the day off from the babies, thank you Mr. Loves.
Happy Friday
Sounds like a wonderful day! And you smell great and look great as well, I’m sure! Enjoy!
Lovely…everything!!!
Looking and smelling lovely, please report back about the film!
Second that! I love S. Coppola’s work.
3rd. I want to see that, too. Enjoy the day!
Enjoy your day!
I used to like (and kind of collect) all those colored AG bottles. Too bad they’ve changed them.
I was going to wear Chinatown, but realized the bottle is in San Diego, so I went with IUNX Ether in the funky black plastic computer mouse bottle. The old IUNX boutique in Paris was a beautiful minimalistic design and I fell in love with Ether and their Papyrus candle.
Chinatown, that’s a good one too 🙂
SOTD is “Terres Aromatiques” from Lalique, part if the Lalique Noir collection. I love the bottles which remind me of the architecture of Lutyens.
Top: cardamom, lemon and pineapple;
Mid: lavender, thyme and freesia;
Base: vetiver and tonka.
Good stuff, reminds me of Amouage Sunshine Man or Dior Eau Noir. Possibly lighter and fresher than either. I’ll longlist it, but will check it against Sunshine Man when I get home. If genuinely similar, I don’t need both.
I treated myself yesterday to a FB of Annick Goutal “Amber Fétiche” as it was reasonably cheap on Notino.
That is a nice bottle, and what a nice price on Notino!
Love Ambre Fétiche and own a cute 15 ml bottle of it 🙂 .
I just tried Ambre Fetiche and it’s very lovely! Congrats on the bottle purchase
I like Ambre Fetish (perfume) and love the old black “woman” version bottle.
Oh, well done on the Amber Fetiche! You can’t beat getting a good scent at a bargain price!
Grr, ‘Ambre’! Stupid autocorrect!
Yeah auto-correct! I wanted to use matchy-matchy and it kept changing matchy to matcha then to matchbox then matcha again so I had to fool it by quickly typing a dash and the next m right away.
Wearing Chanel no 19 edp. There is something about those bottles.
Chanel does have great bottles, I love the Coco Noir bottle ( I have a FB of the parfum) the black is very sexy.
You smell great, No 19 is great choice
Oh yes, I considered that one today for Bottle Porn – as well as the parfum bottle for 1932.
Those are quality bottles – extremely pleasant to handle. Especially when they host such beautiful perfume. You smell great!
I considered this one, too!
I love the 50ml Chanel 19 bottle. It’s such a great weight, proportion and size. The only way they could have improved upon it: a heavy glass cap instead of plastic.
House twins!
My 19 bottles are the gold-banded ones and I’m realizing I have no idea what the current packaging looks like. Will have to look it up!
I’m wearing Mojave Ghost by Byredo. I’ve read a lot of complaints about the Byredo aesthetic, but I love it. Black and white, all caps and a non-serif font? I’m sold! Plus the 50 ml bottle feels great in my hand. (I suspect the 100 ml bottle would be a bit awkward for me.)
I love the Byredo bottles as well.
As do I
Robin, those are great bottles! Definitely unique and gorgeous. Hope the fragrance is just as unique.
SOTD is the darkly lush and beautiful En Voyage Zelda. The bottle is an old school work of art, understated, feminine, and fits perfectly in the hand. I keep mine in the satin drawstring bag it came in, but it would look great on a dressing table mirrored silver tray, displayed for ocular pleasure.
The bottle:
https://perfumepolytechnic.files.wordpress.com/2015/05/zelda_high.jpg
It is NOT just as unique but it’s darned nice.
We are wearing totally different eras, design-wise!
oh wow!!!! Love it!
What a beauty!
Ooo. Yep, that’s a nice bottle!
I’m in De Profundis, from one of those highly covet-able bell jar bottles. Okay, it wasn’t MY bell jar (shhh – it was hajusuuri’s), but still. A beautiful fragrance from a beautifully sleek bottle. Someday I’ll make it to Europe, and when I do, I’m coming home with my own little glass bell. 🙂
Do you know that there’s a way to get those bell jar bottles much cheaper than they are sold in the U.S.? There’s a person who does “personal shopping” (hajusuuri should have her e-mail, but if no – you can ask me). She brings those bottles at about $220, I think.
🙂 $248
I see you’ve had practice 🙂
Not yet, LOl! I just received an e-mail from her and did imaginary shopping!
Hey Twin. You smell great!
LOL. This was a contender yesterday but I landed on ISM.
I’m going sniffing today, so no perfume from my own collection until maybe later.
One of the prettiest bottles is Marc Lalique’s heart for Nina Ricci Coeur Joie (1946), created by Germaine Cellier. This soft floral chypre could hardly be more different from her other creations, such as Bandit.
Coeur Joie is not hard to find on ebay, possibly because it is still in production? It shows up on the Nina Ricci website in the Collection Prestige.
Oh, that is such a gorgeous bottle.
I am wearing Volnay Brume d’Hiver, which I did not buy because of the bottle but is probably the prettiest one I have.
That is a beautiful bottle!
Happy Friday, everyone! Today I’m wearing Black Orchid, which I did not buy for the bottle, even though I think the bottle’s gorgeous and appropriate to the scent. Sad today because I’m taking one of my kitties in for an ultrasound that I think will reveal cancer. It feels like cancer is stalking my household! My husband’s treatments put this in perspective, but still, it’s hard.
Oh, so sorry! Hoping you get some unanticipated good news!
I hope everything goes fine with your kitty and the result of the test is not devastating. Sending positive vibes and warm thoughts.
I’m sorry to hear that your kitty isn’t feeling well. Sending good vibes and hopes that you get a different diagnosis.
Crossing my fingers that you’ll get good news re: your kitty. One of mine was given 1-2 months to live (due to a cancer diagnosis) and she’s still here over a year later.
I’m sorry to hear this, I’m wishing the best health to your family.
So sad to hear this.. I hope the news is not as bad as u suspect.
Warm thoughts and wishes to you and your kitty.
Best wishes to you and your kitty. Sending you hugs.
Oh, no. I hope you get good news, and your kitty’s OK!
Jirish, hope it turns out better than you’re expecting. Do let us know either way.
Oh no, I hope your purr turns out to be ok!
I hope that you ended up getting good news about your cat!
Marc Jacobs Daisy today. Bottle is nicer than the juice, but I like the juice anyway.
So glad Daisy is represented here today!
Not bottle porn at all, but the only time I’ve ever bought a perfume because of its bottle was when Diptyque discontinued its square bottles and switched to ovals. I had been on the fence about Do Son, but when I found out it was my last chance to own it in the old bottle design, I went for it.
Joke’s on me, because I’m now very fond of the oval bottles, and the Do Son juice isn’t my favorite of the Diptyques. It’s nice to have a reason to wear it again, though — it’s very pleasant on what promises to be a hot day.
That’s so funny! I still prefer the square myself, but I don’t hate the oval as much as I used to.
I had no idea how to pronounce Diptyque. When I went to Nordstrom to shop for Volutes, I pronounced the brand as “dipty que”. ???? I was very embarrassed. I do love the brands’ packaging for fragrances and candles.
As I said at the start of the week I rarely buy full bottles, and never for just the bottle. That being said, at the start of my perfumista journey I bought several of the Tokyo Milk Dark fragrances inexpensively and unsniffed from ebay, because the notes sounded interesting, but also because I was fascinated with the bottles. I rarely wear the fragrances anymore, and never in the summer, because they are all really “heavy” fragrances. Basically, I’m taking a lot of words and time to say that today, I’m wearing Sud Magnolia from a mini.
I’m lemming after Tokyo Milk Sea and Sky because of the artwork on the label. 🙂
I am wearing Mugler’s Womanity Pour Elle – that bottle is something else
PSA – Luckyscent is offering 15 % off plus free US Shipping if you use the code Summer15 !!!!!
Oh no! I’m doomed!
Thanks! (I think) 😉
It’s a good promotion with the limitation that it has to be $125+ order (so no samples orders, I guess). It also says that some brands are excluded but I cannot find which ones.
Woot! Retail Therapy time.
Some contenders for today were Suleko Djelem and Noa which is adorable in it’s own unique way. But I woke up super late and it’s going to be hot so I doused myself in Roger & Gallet Fleur d’Osmanthus which is light and refreshing.
I don’t own a sculptural Suleko bottle( which are nicer in person than in the photo) since I bought the travel spray with a refill bottle, but the travel spray has a porcelain cap which is also pretty and satisfying.
https://www.google.com/search?q=suleko+perfumes&client=ms-android-sprint-us&source=android-browser&prmd=simvn&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwja_6Pi2eXUAhWDFj4KHfZGBXkQ_AUICigC&biw=360&bih=512#imgrc=QmQDMyohoqfI0M:
Wow! Those are amazing bottles!
Ditto!
Wow! Wow!, those bottles are terrific!!!
I forgot to post the travel spray:
https://www.google.com/search?q=suleko+travel+spray&client=ms-android-sprint-us&biw=360&bih=512&tbm=isch&prmd=sivn&source=lnms&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwi5geX8gObUAhWCdD4KHS_7D_8Q_AUI4QEoAg#imgrc=dzap62v6iGQ8QM:
Those bottles are crazy, but I think I prefer the looks of the travel spray. I’ll bet it sits in the hand nicely.
Oh gosh Noa!!!! I must have drained seven or eight of those in all different sizes (1oz, 1.7oz, 3.4 oz, minis) I love those bottles and the juice was fantastic!
I like most of the Cacharel bottles. The 1 oz Noa is really cute.
I even had a rare NOA edp which had an atomizer that untwisted so you could easily decant the juice.
I was wondering how those bottles looked in person since I loved them on pictures. Unfortunately, perfumes didn’t wow me (I tried 3) – so I stopped wondering about the bottles. But still it’s good to know that they are beautiful in RL.
I tried all 4 and liked them all but Djelem was the only one that I loved and wanted to own.
Imperial tea by Kilian, the travel spray atomizer is lovely (and I like the scent too)
By Killian has great bottles
Those travel spray cases are gorgeous.
I was just going to nominate Back to Black by Kilian in one of those gorgeous heavy little black travel cases – perfect marriage of scent and container. And that marvelous magnetic click when you put the cap back on!
They look hand-carved!
Ooh, nice.
SOTD is Escentric Molecules Escentric 03. I do not have a bottle of this perfume, but I think it has a cool hi-tech/sci-fi look. And that green colour matches the scent very well.
And the travel sizes are way cute.
I’ve never bought something for the bottle, but there are bottles I love. My OJ Tolu is beautiful and so heavy! I also love the Narciso square white bottle – creamy. And I love the VC&A California Reverie bottle – it is so clean, just the right heft and the cap makes that lovely click sound.
I do remember back in 1992 picking up PdN Le Temps d’une Fete to sniff because of the bottle and then falling in love with the scent itself. Back then, she did these beautifully ornate tall bottles. I wish I’d kept it.
Not necessarily 1992, maybe a couple years later.
Just wearing regular bottle scent today. Once again in Fiori di Capri.
SOTD is 10 Corso Como, which I love for the fragrance, the bottle design, and incredible typgraphy on the box (which I kept for that reason).
https://www.10corsocomo-theshoponline.com/contents/imgs/products/1_25863-10cc-beauty-eau-de-parfum50-ml-1-7-fl-oz.jpg
I love 10CC. You smell great!
I love the design of the bottle and the packaging. So unique, in a field where I imagine it is quite difficult to come up with a design that isn’t reminiscent of twenty others.
I wanted to add a minimalist design to the mix. So simple, and the only colors are red and black. 🙂
I got a bottle of the body oil and have kept its box, too. It really is so pretty! But I really need to throw that box out.
Oh, good one! I loved my bottle of the body lotion, it was lovely until I dropped it.
Oof, was it made of glass? I was both disappointed and pleased to discover that the body oil bottle is plastic, as I keep it in the shower.
No, it was plastic, but it split right down the side when it dropped. Made quite a mess and I lost most of what was left.
Oh no! I hope that at least your bathroom smelled good for awhile.
I had a craving for Mugler Cologne this morning, which means I’m not participating in the challenge with a vengeance, as I sort of hate this bottle (hard to hold and the sprayer is insanely strong). Love the juice, though, and it will fade in time for me to pick something else for my evening out – probably al Oudh (my summer evening go-to) or Iris Poudre, which I’ve also been craving. Happy weekend and almost-4th of July to all!
You need the “cologne to go” —
https://www.polyvore.com/thierry_mugler_cologne_to_go/thing?id=6010945
I have one of these too! I found a gift set on one of the discount sites and got a 100ml bottle, a travel bottle, and a purple pouch – it was much like the pouches that Crown Royal comes with, and I wasn’t sure what to do with it . . .
Throw it away? That’s what I do. Maybe some people keep the perfumes in them 🙂
I hate those stupid pouches – velvet, mesh, velour, whatever. Why must they come with so many perfume (and skincare and makeup) purchases? I can’t tell you how many of them I toss on an annual basis.
I re-use the pouches for decants that I am gifting. A pretty colored metal decant studded in “diamonds” in a velvet or mesh pouch makes a nice gift and I drain some of the juice from my full bottles.
I’m in Noir de Noir today with just a teeny spritz of the Mr.’s Tuscan Leather to go with it. Roses and leather are so great together! And I actually do like the Private Blend bottles. I like the clean lines and the size of the smaller ones.
You smell great! I was thinking this morning, I should just bite it, and get bottle of this.
I think SheriG layers SL Cuir Mauresque with Atelier Cologne Rose Anonyme!
I went with the only really cool bottle I own: Versace V’E Extrait Calamaio. The bottle itself is pretty, though simple. The cool part is that it comes in this gorgeous sculptural cube of thick plexiglass that envelops it in some serious light reflections/refractions. I can’t find any really good photos of it online, but here’s one that kinda shows all the pretty light effects:
http://www.globalstocks.eu/public/data/19038/pictures/IMG_0130.JPG
The juice is nice – a floral/woody scent, a little retro. If I had a vanity, this bottle would definitely be on it.
That does look pretty cool.
Oh, wow! I can imagine how much more spectacular that would be in-person.
SOTD is Shalimar Souffle, in the blue peacock bottle: https://nstperfume.com/2017/04/24/another-daily-lemming/
Yup, I lemmed. I have quite a few vintage minis which were bought for scientific purposes (had to try out the scents, right) and which now occupy a gorgeous shot glass display case. But this is the only FB I own that was purchased solely due to drooling over the bottle.
Jealous!
So awesome you have that bottle. I really like Souffle.
I bought a bunch of minis purely for the bottle with hopes of displaying them in a case but haven’t gotten around to the case part yet.
Oh…WOW!
Gorgeous design on that bottle
I’m one of those people for whom Shalimar doesn’t work, but even I was considering this bottle purchase – just for the bottle 🙂
Yep, that’s a winner!
Wow! Nice!
Dang, that’s gorgeous.
Happy Friday, NST! I’m wearing House of Matriarch Devotion. It’s from a sample rather than a bottle, but it’s one of the most beautifully packaged samples I’ve ever received, so I’m going to say it counts for today’s theme.
Yes… their samples are just as beautiful as the bottles. I love the blue glass.
Ooh – I googled this and came up with pix of the bottle and sample. That is a serious sample bottle. Impressive!!
I’m in Jour d’Hermes for the Friday theme! I have mixed feelings about this bottle, but I find it to be very distinct and I do like it in its miniature form (which is how I have it). Happy Friday everyone!
You smell pretty! The Jour d’Hermes bottle is one of my favorites. It has light and radiance, just like the fragrance inside.
I thought that this bottle would look much nicer in smaller size (about 30 ml).
Best bottle I own? Kenzo UFO. It’s pretty quiet, so I’ll put a perfume oil under it, in the hopes of extending the life of things, at least.
Side note: yesterday I was walking past a store that sells the Libertine perfumes, and I put some of the “grass” one on–it was amazing, and I couldn’t stop smelling my arms. Anyone else try this one?
Nope, but it’s going on my try list! I’m always on the hunt for something to replace my beloved Gap Grass (RIP).
OK, apparently it’s real name is “Sweet Grass.” https://www.libertine-fragrance.com/products/sweet-grass-roll-on-fragrance?variant=16524174663
I loved Gap Grass too 🙁
Have you ever tried Ineke’s Balmy Days and Sundays? Not as good as Grass but a similar vibe.
Also added to the list!
I haven’t smelled it either but I love the smell of grass. I have an oil from some oil store here but it’s a short lived scent. Oriza Legrand Deja le Printemps is also very grassy-goes from wet grass to almost dry hay.
This was a roll-on but lasted a long time…
Fantastic bottle, and pretty darned good scent, too.
WHOA. That bottle is way cool.
I’m wearing Aedes Pelargonium today because gorgeous red glass bottle is gorgeous.
Ooh lovely, what’s the scent Like?
If you jump over to my blog you can find a full review I did some time ago.
From the two “gorgeous” in one short sentence I’m guessing you kind of like the bottle… 😉
You got it right
Happy Friday!
1) Big 4 day weekend up ahead- so a big black coffee and a crueller at the ready! Yum! But now- I find that the donut is too sweet for my tastebuds????!!!!
2) SOTD: Jasmin from Molinard, which came that year in a very sexy purple bottle and box. I really like this scent- it is a cleaner less animalic version of Lush’s Lust but with a rosy dry down and not as sweet. In the soft summer heat this has been performing beautiful. If you can get it, the purple bottle is square with rounded inner corners and with Molinard stamped in golden letters. It would look great on a dresser.
3) Runner’s up for today included Boucheron, which has that very 80’s version of Art Deco rounded design to the bottle, and my beloved Eau Universal from L’Occitane, which is now almost gone but have the most awesome Miami art deco design to the bottle.
4) Plan for the weekend-: a good clean of the house, and a trip to the Gorge to go hike and do mountain stuff!
What the heck happened? See my reply below to you 🙂
Boucheron is great!
Nothing is too sweet for me so you can send that crueller my way!
and agree, the Molinard bottle is beautiful….I remember Boucheron as well!
and check out this Molinard..
https://www.fragrantica.com/perfume/Molinard/Les-Amoureux-de-Peynet-44113.html
How cute is that???
That is such an adorable bottle!
Don’t you just want one???
I think we all want one! 🙂
What an adorable bottle! And the juice sounds right up my alley too…
I was thinking the same thing…it would be a great summer fragrance….
Nice!
And this was the Molinard that one of my ballet teachers wore in the early 1980s…lordie that was such good stuff and the bottle! I bought it for myself years later but felt funny wearing it as it was her signature scent.
https://thescentedhound.com/2014/06/14/vintage-molinard-de-molinard/
Gorgeous! It is so enjoyable to see all those bottles!
Molinard de Molinard is just as lovely as Habitania, if not easier to wear. Love it.
Ha! WordPress be WordPressing!
1) Yes, I am so shocked at how woozy I feel now- almost like drunk. Mind you , have been getting plenty of natural sugar from fruit, seeds and root veggies like ptatoes but I have not had delightful refined sugar baked goods in quite a while.
2) That bottle is simply darling.
3) Boucheron has become a favorite of mine, next to TF Noir Pour femme. It’s a BIG perfume that you only tiny spritzs of. And the bottle is so Alexis from Dynasty!
Sugar is definitely a ‘drug’ for me-LOL! One of these days I will get myself completely off of it….problem is when you are naturally thin there is no real incentive, although being healthier in general really should be incentive enough for me, right?
And Boucheron is a fabulous fragrance…I bet it shows up heavily discounted online which makes that a win-win.
There have been perfumes I’ve purchased that came in wonderful bottles and that was a plus, but today’s SOTD is the one and only perfume I ever bought because of the bottle – Berdoues Assam of India. How could I resist those adorable elephants? And how fortunate is it that I love a good tea scent?
SCENT TWIN 🙂
I’ll be an Assam of India triplet this afternoon. Thanks for the perfumed inspiration. 🙂
Yes, those elephants are cute! Not my SOTD however
Shocking that more companies don’t get that elephants sell perfume.
Today’s scent is Mohur, which obviously I didn’t get FOR the bottle, but I did opt for a FB rather than a travel spray because the bottle is so perfect in my hand.
My mood has soured immeasurably in the 1.5 h since I woke up because dear boyfriend left a light on in my car and drained the battery, so now I’ve been waiting for 45 min for a jumpstart from AAA–which, incidentally, is less than a mile from me. Seems like no one has cables. PSA: buy jumper cables for your car.
So now I’ve given up on life and am having breakfast at the Starbucks around the corner. It’s a good thing I have no meetings in the morning. Grump grump grump.
Ugh, what agrumpy morning! I have had mornings like that! You smell lovely, at the very least.
The rest of the day hasn’t been going too much better, but at least tomorrow is Saturday!
It wasn’t the best start of the day but it definitely wasn’t the worst. AND you smell great!
Definitely true! On both counts.
What a PITA. Good idea to have jumper cables, but you also need a 2nd car with a good battery in order to use them…
Really irritating about AAA. I used them on the regular when I lived in LA and they always arrived within 10-15 minutes. Not so the case in the Seattle area, either, and the service packages they offer up here aren’t nearly as good as the CA ones.
I’m in Bahiana today, but not from the feather-festooned bottle, just a sample. I had it years ago, and swapped it out when I somehow (and erroneously) concluded it was mostly cedar, and too raspy. Also, the feather band deal never wanted to stay in place. Swap Regret! It’s a thing! But no biggie; I’m reminding myself that in the scheme of mistakes one can make, this is fairly harmless. Oh, and I can’t say Bahiana is a contender in the bottle porn category.
Some random bottles I loved:
-Marni bottles. I’m guessing the 50ml bottle was my favorite. Weirdo shape with polka dots, what more would I want? Only bought the 10ml spray, though.
-Zoologist: fonts & graphics are great.
-Hermes: Like Robin earlier this week, I’m a fan of the star-patterned Eau de Merveilles bottle. I have a mini, which I really like.
-Lolita Lempicka (original): awesome apple and color combo.
-Natori, in that dark purple bottle with the pebble-y cap. I bought that one, and I’m pretty sure the bottle was part of the appeal. I like the juice, but in another bottle, I might not have laid down the cash.
Have a great Friday, everyone!
I love some of these ones too, great list!
Thanks! Looking at my list again, it looks like I’m currently really appreciating quirky designs!
This one is tough for me. I don’t buy a fragrance unless I know I like the juice inside, but as Robin notes above, I have been deterred from buying something I might otherwise own due to not liking a bottle.
I remember lusting over the Byredo bottles for a few years, (that I had seen only in magazines and blogs and not in person), before I moved to where I live now, and have access to basically anything I want that is sold in the U.S. in stores. I was really drawn to the Scandinavian-type design.
Lately I’ve really liked the look of the Dusita bottles and the most recent iteration of the Strange Invisible Perfume bottles, which are both sort of similar in silhouette. Although I don’t necessarily like the feel of either of these bottles as much as bottles that have heavy magnetic caps and more heft. I think the best cap experience is the Jo Malone Rare Tea Collection. I absolutely love the feeling of the cap, the weight, and it is extremely magnetic. Also the large Chanel Exclusif bottles and the large Dior bottles, there is just something about them. I know it’s not practical to have such a large bottle unless that’s the only perfume you wear, or unless it’s been discontinued, but perfume isn’t practical anyway. I just love the luxury of the large bottles.
Also, I did recently purchase the limited edition Jo Malone poptastic bottles, which I guess sort of qualifies for the project, but if they had offered them in two scents that I wasn’t fond of I wouldn’t have purchased…
All of that said, I’m wearing SI perfumes Black Rosette this morning before yoga. It really blooms during my practice, but it stays close to the skin, so best of both worlds. The things I do in order to practice with my favorite instructors…I have a flexible schedule at work, and so I go into work on Fridays before class at 10:30, go back home and shower and change (I wish yoga studios that weren’t hot offered showers!) and then back to work for the rest of the day.
This is such a long post. : / Have a great weekend everyone!
I LOVED those Jo Malone poptastic bottles, especially the clear one!
You smell fantastic!
I like long life-related posts!
I love the big Chanel and Dior bottles too, so what if I never finish them? Perfume is a sensory experience. Agree on the poptastic bottles. I am really liking the JM LE bottles lately, just got Incense & Cédrat as well. Fortunately the ones they are offering lately are scents I love.
We have similar taste, and that Black Rosette bottle is absolutely freaking stunning.
I chose Jubilation 25 today, it’s one of my all time top 20, and one of my top 5 bottles. Disappointingly this one doesn’t have a magnetic cap like my other two Amouages.
The other contender was By killing Liasons Dangerous, my only By killian and another favourite juice & bottle.
Also like many others wouldn’t buy for bottle if I didn’t love the juice, my collection is getting too big!
You shouldn’t be disappointed: from what I read, non-magnetic cap, especially for Jubilation, is a good thing: it’s how those perfumes came originally before the later changes, which meant reformulation for at least some of perfumes. Wherever people sell/swap Amouage bottles, they always specify, which cap they have.
That’s interesting. The only two bottles of Amouage I bought have been from a discounter – Fate, which is a newer one, definitely had a magnet cap, and the Lyric I recently purchased from the same discounter doesn’t have much of a “click” unless I snap it. I wore Lyric the other day and it lasted all day long. Maybe it’s an older bottle?
I have one bottle that I bought for the bottle: I never intended to wear perfume (and couldn’t make myself to do it today), it went directly to my dresser decoration – Feerie VC&A EdT. For today’s project I’m wearing perfume from another bottle I always liked – Nature by YR. Both bottles mentioned are on the picture here https://undinaba.files.wordpress.com/2015/06/perfumebottlesondresser1.jpg (the Nature bottle is the old one that went off; perfume I’m wearing is from another one stored properly in the darkness).
Feerie is a fun bottle and I can see buying it for that reason. The scent is too seeet for me, though.
I’m actually contemplating the purchase of a couple more – EdP and one of the flankers (rose, white or red) – just to put them on the dresser.
What? Are you feeling well?
But why? It has been 2 years since I put together the previous combination (https://undina.com/2015/06/07/thinking-outside-the-box/) – so it’s time to change something… Either these or, as an option, several more Dali bottles 🙂
The Nature bottle looks like it would as pleasing to hold as it is to see. Beautiful.
I enjoyed reading about your scented Stockholm adventures, especially the lilacs in the rain.
Thank you, tiffanie. Those lilacs were such a joy! Here in California we do not see them too often (too hot) – so it was an additional benefit of traveling to the colder climat.
Nature bottle looks much better than one might have expected from such brand as Yves Rocher. This scent is currently discontinued, but I’m amazed at the quality of the bottle they did back then. And I still enjoy wearing this perfume from time to time.
those are gorgeous bottles (I especially like the AG!)
This is one of those colored bottles, the loss of which in the recent AG’s re-packaging effort I’m moaning. I thought that those bottles looked very beautiful with all the different colors.
It was a tossup between Niki de st Phalle extrait (the intertwined snakes) or Shiseido’s Feminite du Bois vintage extrait (burgundy tear drop bottle). I chose the latter, SOTD is Feminite du Bois extrait. Bottle picture is below, taken from an earlier NST post (I hope it’s ok Robin).
https://nstperfume.com/2015/11/02/serge-lutens-feminite-du-bois-vintage-new-fragrance-review/
That is a gorgeous bottle, so glad you shared the link to that picture and review.
Thanks!
I do love the juice but a nice bottle has always appealed to me as well. And in the 80s/90s, so many were just gorgeously done.
Liz, you have the Niki extrait bottle!?! I love that one–and all her artwork–so much.
Yep, I do! I adore her artwork, it appealed to me from the moment I saw it. If only I could see her works in Paris, how grand would that be?
I also love the original Fendi perfume bottle, pictured here..
https://nstperfume.com/2014/07/15/fendi-by-fendi-for-women-fragrance-review/
I have seen at least one of her sculptures up close and personal. Occasionally, I have an opportunity to visit private collections. This one particular collection had a large Niki de st phalle at the front hallway, a collection of antique perfume bottles in an apothecary cabinet (I did not get a chance to ask about them) and a Jeff Koons next to a set of French doors leading to a patio and land with sculptures scattered all over.
Of course it’s ok! It’s ok to link to nearly anything, anywhere, except for politics or something you’re selling. And probably except something else I can’t think of, but in general links are always fine.
For bottle porn it was a tossup this morning between my adorable 4ml Box of Eels mini or the SL bell jar. The bell jar won. It’s so impractical yet beautiful, and mine isn’t even one of the even more gorgeous engraved bottles. The scent is Sarrasins and with the deep purple color it really is quite pretty.
I would so love to have one of the engraved bell jars. The one for Attarine, maybe? But I would probably like any of them.
I would LOVE to have the one with the cat (Fourreau Noir).
I forgot that one!
I’ll take the one with the dragon please even if I don’t like the juice (Mandarine Mandarin).
Oh, that one was gorgeous too. A whole row of them would look might nice.
From the first day of this year until today I recorded the fragrances I have worn, all the dabs, spritzes, and lavish sprays. My 5 most-worn scents for the past six months are
5. Hiris (this one surprised me a bit)
4. Infusion d’Amande (new-scent infatuation)
3. Infusion d’Iris edt
2. Chanel No. 5 edp
1. Eau des Merveilles, my SotD
I wear perfume for science! And for fun.
Hiris has a beautiful bottle, too, so there ya go!
I love the Hiris bottle, both the transparent and the blue glass, they are quite elegant. 🙂
What a great idea!
It’s been a fun challenge to remember and record every scent. And I was surprised to find I wore 85 different scents in six months.
Huge iris and almond fan. I love all of those, and wear them often, except for Eau de Merveilles, which I don’t have-yet!
Yay! for similar noses, and for iris and almond too. 🙂
I’ve been recording what I wear or test for the last 7 years. Sometimes statistics surprise me as well.
Hiris is a beautiful bottle (and it’s blue! I love blue bottles).
Seven years, oh my! Six months was hard for me, but today I feel I can keep going for another 6.
And I agree, blue perfume bottles are special.
You’ll see: once you’ve done it for a year, it’ll be tempting to keep going – just to see where it leads you.
I keep a diary (excel spreadsheet) as well. I try to record daily, but there are gaps here and there. I also add notes. And have a dozen other tabs for perfume-related data 😉
Bottle Porn SOTD = Chanel 28 La Pausa EDT
I picked 8-spray La Pausa to represent Chanel overall – from the Les Exclusif minis, to the extraits wardrobes, to the classic No. 5 rectangular bottle, to the Les Exclusif EDTs and EDPs with its magnetic cap that closes with a satisfying click.
I had an early meeting today with a particularly difficult senior leader that could have gone south easily because the Powerpoint deck was only 1/10th but I passed the sniff test as I conveyed my path to completion.
Since we are in bottle porn mode, I just got word that the LPRN Black Perfecto I ordered will be in my hot little hands when I return from vacation. Woo hoo!
Chanel bottles are perfection. I will wear No. 5 edp tonight.
Congrats on your LPRN BP! That’s another classic done right.
I agree; Chanel really does beautiful bottles. And if I owned 28 La Pausa, that would probably have been my pick for today, too!
I agree about the Chanel bottles. I actually have not explored LPRN so this was truly a bottle porn purchase and the juice is secondary.
Twins! I am wearing 4 sprays, needed a light hand since it is so hot today.
Heh! And I considered wearing 10 sprays due to the heat and humidity.
Those classy, classic Chanel bottles really are perfect. [sighs contentedly] …I hope Black Perfecto shows up in my neck of the woods sometime, because Mon Guerlain has totally skipped us here. ????
You never know!
One of my big perfume regrets: not getting a partial or full bottle of 28 La Pausa and 31 Rue Cambon in the edt! Such fantastic frags.
I haven’t looked but they are probably still available on eBay.
8 sprays? Wow… I’m glad it did the did though 🙂
Chanel bottles are extremely elegant (well, I’m not a fan of Chance – but other than that, I like most of them).
In case I do not “see” you before than, enjoy your vacation! (and with that bottle coming your way, you’ll have something to look forward to on the return – which isn’t bad if you already have to come back 🙂 ).
Thanks, my dear. All this means is I have to find something else to buy as my reward perfume if I meet certain vacation goals.
Now I’m dying to know what your “vacation goals” are 🙂
Oooh! That LPRN Black Perfecto bottle is TDF! Can you imagine how cute a mini would be? I searched for a bottle for the same reason – who cares what it smells like!?!
I could have chosen any of the Harajuku Lovers line, but today I went with Super G because I needed to feel like a superhero!
SOTD – L’Atessa. Bottle is amazing, but I got it for the scent (and the enabler pin goes to hajusuuri)
Oh, that is a gorgeous bottle (and a beautiful perfume)!
It is a beautiful bottle! I hope they’ll do their earlier perfumes in that format, and then I’ll by my beloved Tango.
Woohoo. I always think elegant evening gown when I look at the bottle.
☄️Asteroid Day?!????
For today’s project, I’m in Mitsouko. That L’Heure Bleue/Mitsouko bottle is a work of Art Nouveau perfection. Love it.
Happy Weekend, y’all!
I agree.mai knew the nerd in you would be excited about Asteroid Day!
Aaaaargh fat fingers! Not mai but I
Actually, it freaks me out more than it excites me because near-Earth asteroids are something I prefer not to think about. But, I admit that I refrained from posting my initial nerdy thought: that the word “asteroid” always makes me think of Walter Bishop on ‘Fringe’ constantly mangling Astrid’s name into “Asteroid”, “Asterisk”, etc.????
Aha! I was hoping someone would wear one of those this week! One of my favorite bottle designs ever.
I’m glad to take one for the team!
I’m taking a 2 min break from work (which I never do) to post since I was so excited about today’s theme.
SOTD: Chanel Cuir de Russie, from the early 90s. I know that a lot of people aren’t fans of the Chanel bottles, but I absolutely love them. Probably because I’m such a fan of the juice. I also really love the Exclusif bottles (especially the cap clicks) and the extrait bottles.
Happy Friday everyone!
You smell great! I looove the Chanel bottles.
Beautiful perfume! And I like Chanel bottles as well.
Ha! See above – love Chanel bottles!
Lolita Lempicka Fleur de Corail. Totally bought for the bottle, like most of the LL fragrances I own. But I enjoy it in the summer anyway.
Happy Friday! I haven’t been around in ages due to a variety of things going on here, but enjoying the bottle porn today.
Scent cousins in Lolita Lempicka EdP for that beautiful apple bottle 🙂
I have 5 or 6 LL minis bought just for the bottles. The minis are so freaking adorable, especially the apple ones.
Thorn and Bloom Bird of Paradise. I don’t have a full bottle but will someday. She uses hard wood caps that are too die for.
Ooh, that is very nice.
SOTD is Eau de Protection, because stuff with dragons on it is 100% My Jam. I actually bought my bottle from Amazon because the picture shown had the original(?) bottle with the relief-cut dragon logo, but it ended up having ELdO’s current round logo on it instead. Not quite as nice as the other logo, but still has a dragon, so I’ll find a way to survive. 🙂
On another note, I’m trying extremely hard to find a NEST fragrance that I enjoy enough to buy a fill-size bottle of, because boy are those awesome bottles. I was ALMOST there with Indigo, until my sister took a sniff and said “Man that smells like grape juice.” …Pretty much killed the vibe for me. ????
Thanks for reminding me of the Nest bottles! A younger family member has the original Midnight Fleur (pre Sephora days and before the company revamped the bottle). Her bottle is an opaque black with the gorgeous blue flowers and weighs almost as much as I do!
The Nest bottles! I had forgotten how good they are. If only I liked the juice as much as those lovely bottles.
I was almost there with Citrine, but not quite.
I’ve never purchased a bottle of perfume because of the bottle, but I do love a beautiful bottle. The most beautiful that I own are from Guerlain. I particularly love my round Nahema PdT bottle from the eighties with the glass stopper and I’m just thrilled to own very old extrait bottles of L’Heure Bleue and Mitsouko with the heart-shaped stoppers.
If I ever found a Niki de Saint Phalle extrait bottle with the intertwining snakes for a reasonable price, I would jump on it….
The Niki extrait sold on fragrancenet for the longest time for 29 dollars. Haven’t seen it there in ages. I had that one when it first came out. Gorgeous bottle and even more gorgeous fragrance.
Here you go-I think the price is reasonable?
https://www.bonanza.com/listings/Niki-De-Saint-Phalle-First-Edition-Parfume-Perfume-Bottle-1-2-Fl-Oz-Double-Snake/469009400?goog_pla=1&gpid=76984043821&keyword=&goog_pla=1&pos=1o4&ad_type=pla&gclid=Cj0KEQjw7dfKBRCdkKrvmfKtyeoBEiQAch0egcH1xcxpvQdCtoA6AGxQ_yggM560HTRThFE1U-uYlocaApxL8P8HAQ
Oh but now I am wondering if it is just the bottle minus the juice?
That would be an amazing price if there was any perfume in it, but I suspect that it IS empty.
My sister had that bottle. I should find out if she still has it. Gorgeous.
Totally jealous of your old Guerlain bottles!
July already – that was fast. Bella Freud 1970 . I like her bottles, and the nice bookish sliding boxes they come in.
thanks for reminding me…RABBIT RABBIT RABBIT tomorrow!!!! I hope my middle aged brain remembers!!!!!
(Ugh, this year is already half-over. How did that happen?) Those boxes do look cool.
Wearing Rozy edp today. While I buy for scent, not for the bottle, I will admit that this bottle feels lovely in the hand
SOTD is DeProfundis from my bell jar with the pretty purple juice.
I’ve only seen online pics, but that’s a beauty!
I have that beauty as well. Mine is engraved with my initial. It is very pretty. And I love that perfume.
I don’t really buy things for the bottles, and I don’t think I have many things with particularly exciting bottles. So I went with the closest thing I was in the mood for, which is Lolita Lempicka Eau de Minuit.
Chanel 28 La Pausa edt again. Juice+bottle=perfection!
I was not in the mood to wear fragrance today ( yes, I get those days when nothing seems right), but 28 LP is veeeeeery light and won’t irritate me 🙂
Almost forgot:
PSA: Barneys warehouse has additional 60 % off on discounted fragrances from L’Artizans, The Different Company, Terry de Gunzburg. The selection is pretty small, but prices are good.
You smell great!
Thank you!
Hellooooo….today is the day I sort out our technical difficulties for sure. Several times this week, I’ve written a post and assumed it had uploaded, but it hadn’t; I’ve written emails that have just dropped into nowhere because our network keeps collapsing onto itself in a weak-willed kind of way.
But to perfume: as I managed to say the other day, I’m not immune to the pleasure of beautiful bottles, but I don’t think I buy or have ever bought for the bottle alone. I was attracted to Narcisso’s Rose Musc because there it was, a highly noticeable gold-gold-GOLD bottle on a shelf at S&C, waving and winking and begging to be picked up. Fortunately for it, since it was going to all this trouble to make friends, I liked the perfume, but I suppose I yielded first of all to the pull of the bottle. I’m not sure this is true bottle porn, but that’s what I’m wearing today for housework and shopping and fixing the network.
Be well, all.
I’m seeing this post so your technology must be working 🙂
No bottle porn here; quite the opposite, as I’m wearing a WIP of my own creation, which currently comes only in plain 2 ml glass vials. 🙂 I’m liking it a lot — the original version had a bit too much ylang ylang (I love it, but it can easily overwhelm), but this mod seems juuuust right.
To pay respect to the day’s theme, I visited my perfume cupboard to pick out a visually striking bottle. It turns out that there really aren’t any in there! Even my prettiest bottles (like the Goutals) aren’t very elaborate. I guess I like things fairly simple and streamlined.
Late to the party but I don’t think anyone’s mentioned it: Galop d’Hermes. I was lucky to get an unloved bottle secondhand and am giving bottle & contents the appreciation they deserve:)
Great choice!
Beautiful bottle. Excellent.
I’m finishing off a bottle of Ferre so went with that today – while not ugly, it does fall under the category Awkward, as it’s a two-handed operation to get the bottle into a spritzing position. Do bottle-makers have gigantic hands? Otherwise it’s a blithe disregard for ergonomics, I say. Have decanted the rest of the bottle, so soon all will be well.
Posting super late today, so I’m not sure anyone will see this. I had a vet appointment this afternoon. and I had forgotten that the particular cat who was going today gets horribly carsick. Not a nice trip for that poor kitty.
SOTD = Cartier La Panthere Eau de Parfum Legere. I like the scent, but LOVE the kitten-sized 25mL bottle. It is so darn cute!!! Other contenders for Bottle Porn Friday were Ninfeo Mio, Dior Dune, and one of the limited edition Flowerbomb La Vie en Rose flankers. They all have fantastic bottles.
I saw it! I saw it! 🙂
I hope your kitty is doing fine. For my cat a car trip is such a stress that we’re seriously considering the vet who does home visits.
I liked that Cartier bottle a lot, and I’m still tempted to get it – just for the bottle. With some bottles I wish there was a “secondary bottle market”: while I do not care for the juice to pay even $30-40 for it, I’d pay $10-15 for some empty bottles.
Thanks, Undina. Yes, number 3 kitty is fine now… she just seems to get motion sickness. I have talked with the vet about possible remedies for future trips so she has an easier time. She is an absolute sweetie AT the vet’s office, and has totally charmed everyone there.
Good luck finding the “kitten” bottle!
Yikes! I hope kitty and her human are doing well now!
Thanks! Yes, we both have recovered from the day’s shenanigans.
I love the shimmering peach Dune bottle too.
Yes – another where the design and juice perfectly intersect.
Lolita Lempicka was my immediate go-to for today’s theme. It was born the same year as my daughter. Can recall seeing it in a department store a few months after her birth. I had sort of lost myself in being a new mom. Was months before I journeyed into the outside world without her attached to me in some form or other. Such was my department store trip that day. Out with friends, sans-child, Christmas shopping. There sat LL in the most exquisite goth-like bottle my small-town eyes had ever seen. Discovered that the scent within was every bit as spellbinding as the exterior. It made me feel beautiful when I wore it, a little less lost than before. It’s also one of the gateway scents that led me down the fragrance rabbit hole.
Oh, what a beautiful story! It’s a wonderful memory/association to have with perfume: they make those perfumes magical.
Lovely story!
Super late to post, but it’s still Friday where I am despite the time stamp.
I’m wearing YSL Rive Gauche, a bottle I’ve been obsessed with since I first saw it at age 10 or so. That would have been in the early 80s, and it stood apart from the other bottles on the shelves, and 35 years later it still does. It doesn’t look like a perfume bottle.
The first year of rabbit-holing I spent collecting the scents from my childhood that I either loved or deeply coveted. This one I bought entirely for the bottle.
I hadn’t appreciated it until now – as in today. I think my nose has finally developed enough to wrap my head around this one. It’s so subtle that the nuances can be easy to miss. Gorgeous stuff.
I haven’t actually seen the Rive Gauche bottle IRL that I can remember (and thus not smelled it), but every time I run across the picture on Fragrantica I’m intrigued. It looks like it should contain fancy clinical skincare from the future!
My goodness…Rive Gauche! I loved both the bottle (the cylinder shape and the colors- silver black and lapis blue) and the juice!!! I too wore that one in the 80s. I thought back then it was an unusual take on rose.
