It's Hump Day and the Summer Solstice. What fragrance are you wearing?
I'm (late again) in Annick Goutal Folavril, from Angie's Top 10 Summer Fragrances 2010.
Reminder: On 6/23, wear one of your "top 10 of summer" fragrances (unless it's winter where you are, in which case wear one of your "top 10 of winter" scents).
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2017, where I'll try to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.

Summer Solstice!
Love your fragrance, Robin! Folavril was another bottle I drained years ago and so sad that it is discontinued.
MASSIVE SAMPLING this morning- Myths Woman, Manguier Metisse, Iris Pallida, Amber & Spices, Vent Vert, Ubar Woman, Pluriel, L’Infante, Finisterre, Nyphe des Bois, Iri Dell, Afganistan Orange Blossom, Cuir de Lancolme, Hedonist Iris, Journey Woman, Cuir Cannage, Diorling, Scent, efflor esce, After the Flood, My Queen, White Rose, Sballo, Rahele and Eau de Soir.
Tiny amounts from the top of my knuckles to the top of my arms front to back.
My favorite of the bunch is efflor esce
A co-worker of mine stopped me to say that she loved the smell of my “lotion”
I have a few drops of Folavril left, and likewise, sad!
And WOW. I think you already win Wednesday.
And just some random info on Folavril if anyone is interested- it was the very first Annick Goutal fragrance and it was named after the antique shop that Annick owned and ran in the 1970s.
Thanks for the info!
Interesting. Can u tell me if Folavril (or I could be thinking of a different Goutal!) is similar to Corsica Furiosa?, I know they share tomato leaf, does the similarity end there? thanks!
I would tell you if I could but I have never tried Corsica Furiosa! Folavril had a sweetness to it due to the mango note so it wasn’t all about the tomato leaf.
At least to my wonky nose from what I remember…maybe someone who has sampled both recently can chime in!
Chocolatemarzipan is right — no, they’re not very alike at all.
I didn’t know that. Such a cool fact
You smell like everything!
A very good “lotion” you’re wearing, haha
believe it or not everything has faded except for the efflor esce!
There’s a reason so many mainstream florals smell like that molecule!
THAT!
ha!
my scent eating skin has finally met its match
6 degrees really make a difference. 29 degrees yesterday, 23 today and I much prefer the slightly lower level of warmth.
SotD is Carner Barcelona D600.
Carner Barcelona! A new love for me thanks to you Lucasai. You smell wonderful!
Thanks for the credit, perfumelover67. My enabler pin just got an extra shine
I meant the D600.
Happy Summer! Wearing Bobbi Brown Beach, since I REALLY need to feel that I am by the ocean today (sigh!). O my third cup of coffee and trying to survive????
Good luck, and wish we were all at the beach!
Paternal twin! I have slathered myself in Beach body oil and topped it with some Hermes Eau Claire des Merveilles. It does make you feel like you’re on vacation
Yes!!! That’s what we need. You smell summery and beautiful!
What on earth is a paternal twin?
????
Donatello forgives right? ..bought a bottle of Songes. I only know the EDT so I hope buying the EDP was a good move.
House cousins with Robin, Songes SOTD
Lippy Candy Apple by Revlon
Hey cousin, and OF COURSE she does. Congrats on your new acquisition.
I am so glad that you bought a bottle!!! I was going to encourage you to do that but then did not want to enable as I myself am on a no buy. But they sell for a “songe” at the online discounters so it was practically free, right? Now you can spray with reckless abandonment
I am just nervous because I never tried the EDP version but I am sure its the same.
You are right CM8, it was off one of those online discounters..
If I am not mistaken the edp has more vanilla which might make it a bit sweeter….I am sure it will be fantastic!!!!
Donatella would have told you to get one of each version, and a backup.???? Enjoy!
HA! True!!
With their latest release I am afraid AG may switch up the brand a bit.
Good work!!
Yay for Songes!, I have and adore the EDP, haven’t tried the edt.
Congrats on you’re new purchase.
I love the EDT but it doesn’t last too long. Hope the EDP will solve that problem.
Oh I’m sure it will, I generally have scent eating skin, but Songes is a good performer!
Oh, congrats! Donatella will be proud ????
Yay! Enjoy your bottle of Songes !
Wearing Eau du Sud! Probably my very favorite of summer, so bright.
So much Goutal today! You smell great.
house cousins
Andy Tauer’s Zeta — a gold/green summer scent. It’s the only one of his I’ve found that really works for me (I can’t handle the sweet/tarry base that is in many of his classics).
Nice one!
I love Zeta and sad that it’s discontinued.
I have to find my sample of Zeta — I remember really liking it!
My summer favorite of the day is Chanel 19 EDT. Ahhhhh. And I ordered a sample of Heure Exquise, so soon I’ll finally be able to compare it with 19 arm-to-arm – been wanting to do that for ages.
Love them both!
Me too!
You smell great!
You smell beautiful in your #19!!
Eau d’Elide by Diptyque, when they still did oddballs. It’s great for summer and happens to be my favourite Diptyque. I’ll do a Goutal tomorrow, I think.
I looked it up at Parfumo. Sounds like a great scent
You know, on paper Folavril is everything I like. I was so excited to try it. On me it is just way too soapy. Like detergent.
I’m happy to send what remains of my 5ml STC decant to anyone interested. First person to email me at lonic 31 on the hawt mail (no spaces) can have it. CONUS only.
For today I’m feeling Bombay Bling. Such a fun scent for the first day of summer.
The Folavril sample has been claimed!
Eek, I hope it was me. ????
I have slathered myself in Beach body oil and topped it with some Hermes Eau Claire des Merveilles. I felt like I was on vacation while driving my car in the sun, until the commute traffic jam started..ha
You smell beachy!
It sounds divine! Exactly what I need. I will try that combo tomorrow!
Hello!
SOTD: Sisley’s Eau de Campagne. My “breath of fresh air” for summer.
Drinking: Moroccan Mint Tea with a swirl of honey.
Eau de Campagne layers nicely also, with a nice body lotion.
Maybe I will give Songes a rest and go with Eau de Champagne mañana.
Just to enable a bit, Ava Luxe makes a Moroccan Mint Tea EDP which, in the words of my nephew ” Is all that and a bag of chips”
I LOVE it in the summer
I think I may have to hunt it down!
oooh, you smell good!
Néroli Outrenoir for me today!
Found a new food love — Ezekiel Sprouted Whole Grain English Muffins.. delicious, healthy and texture is perfect!
I’ve been eating these right out of the bag but I’m sure toasted they’re even better.
ok, so I definitely need to try those English muffins, and you smell wonderful!
Growing up my parents were health nuts to the extreme and the only bread they’d use was Ezekiel sprouted grain bread. I used to try and trade my sandwiches at school but not many takers! I like it better as an adult. The English muffins are good.
For those reasons and others, my mom baked bread when I was a child. Heavy, brick-like, super dense, loaves from wheat she ground herself. It was generally slathered with fresh-ground unsalted peanut butter from the health food store. And jam that was often “off” to the point of fermenting.
Needless to say, no one at school wanted to eat it, including me – or anything else from my lunchbox. (I’ll add that a friend’s mom made the most delicious hearty handmade wheat bread that, at the same age, I loved, and still wish I could figure out how to reproduce.)
And, yes, it took decades for me to come around to wanting to eat anything but fluffy, squishy, white white white bread. I used to buy those Ezekiel English muffins and they’re really good – I also appreciate the texture. I love chewy stuff in my toasted breads.
We are scent twins today
Love this fragrance!
I’ve seen Ezekiel breads in the freezer section of my grocery store, but have never tried it, mostly because I’m always afraid that it will be dry and tasteless after having been frozen. Perhaps I need to try it after all!
Bread generally freezes really well. I think they’re in the freezer because they don’t have preservatives, thus not a long shelf life. I bake my own sandwich bread, slice it, and put it in the freezer with no quality loss.
I bake my own bread too, using 50/50 whole wheat and white flour. It keeps just fine in the fridge for a week or so (we go through a loaf a week).
Sud Magnolia today!
I got very slightly sunburned on one of my shoulders yesterday, so it must be summer – even if it isn’t (yet) 100 degrees out.
Don’t forget to slather on the sunscreen today, ajellyfish!
Don’t worry, I was more diligent today!
Love Sud Magnolia! Probably my favorite Atelier I’ve tried so far. You smell fabulous!
It’s so great in the warm weather!
HAPPY SUMMER!!!!!!!
Wearing Chanel No 5 Eau Premiere, and it’s wearing a tad bit strong in my 77% humidity-filled office. (Yes, we have a hygometer in the pharmacy.) It will drydown at some point I’m sure….Heavens to Murgatroyd it’s good stuff!
“Heavens to Murgatroyd” another Marvin the Martian fan ???
YES MA’AM!!!! He’s as cool as his Illudium Q-36 Explosive Space Modulator! HA HA HA HA
https://www.instagram.com/p/BVmwxdmAmKw/?taken-by=jadainga99
you have a beautiful insta feed
Awwww! Thank you so much! I post what I’m in the mood to post, so you never know what’s gonna get on there! LOL
Marvin the Martian is the best cartoon character ever!
YAAAAAS. I love Marvin.
you smell wonderful! Do you have a favorite between, Premiere and l’eau? I think L’eau smells so pretty coming out of the bottle, but I may prefer Premiere, since it may smell better in the long run…
I personally prefer the Premiere! Just something in the drydown that seems better on my skin. But L’eau is beautiful too!
Thanks
Awesome Instragram today!
I’m wearing Hermes Galop today, after a mostly sleepless night. We experienced some bad weather here last night. The wind and rain were very scary.
Hope you get some rest today. I think that we are expecting strong storms tomorrow.
Sorry to hear that. Was it from the storm Cindy? We anticipate some effects from it tomorrow also.
Yikes! Stay safe! You smell divine, if that’s any consolation
Thank you! I enjoy wearing Galop very much. I see a full bottle in my future. Right now, I’m enjoying my sample.
I see one in my future as well. *sitting on hands until it hits discounters*
I hope that the bad weather has passed by now.
Yes, from Cindy
We are not finished with the rain. There’s more on the way.
Wearing Prada Infusions d’Oranger – the original, not the re-release ( which I am dying to try)
Everyone talk about how this is such a clean OB scent, but it is summer appropriate skank on me.
I love it.
I’m hooked on orange blossoms with a little skank in them. You smell great, I’ll have to give this on a whirl.
Hannahmom, where do you live? I have a big decant of Infusion de Fleur d’Oranger 2016, could send a sample if you cover shipping.
Hi lucasai,
I am pretty sure you just sent some decant and chocolate to me in Canada.
( tkeefe)
I appreciate the thought, but wouldn’t the postage to Canada be astronomical??
Oops, didn’t know this is your NST account, haha.
It would probably be similar to the previous one. Not worth it for just one sample
Thanks for the offer – I really appreciate it. Do you get any skank from the new one???
No, not at all. It’s quite a soapy and clean neroli
I’m wearing Child on my left arm and Today by Avon on my right arm.
Who wins?
I’m commando right now since I am taking a sick day, with the reoccurance of a stomach issue I battled last month. I am tired of aromatics and citrus forward fragances already and I am trying to think of the right light floral to wear. I don’t think my stomach can take anything heavy.
Feel better soon.
So I finally showered, using Waleda Wild Rose body wash, which inspired me to wear Demeter Pruning Shears.
Ugh. Hope your digestive system recovers soon
I hope you get some rest, and your stomach starts to feel better soon.
So sorry — hope you are better soon!
Still wearing Ambre Sultan this morning. Holy shmoly I think my bottle has concentrated over time…2 small spritzes yesterday afternoon and it is still going strong this morning. Smells great, too! Love this for the summer for the outdoors, especially.
You smell great!
You smell great!
fantastic!
Today’s combo: a bit of Kiehl’s Original Musk + a neroli perfume oil by an indie company called Sarabecca. The oil is a gorgeous, all-natural, spicy-herbal neroli. Other notes include geranium and lemon. Sadly, like all the best nerolis, it has near-zero longevity on my skin.
And, in honor of the solstice, a song that always brings summer to my mind: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uf4YyXVoWeA
Great song!!
I’ve smelled that Sarabecca and it is nice and natural smelling. Sounds like a nice combo-I’m a fan of Khiel’s. I would think the musk might help the longevity of the neroli?
You know, I think you might be right. The neroli does seem to have just the tiniest bit of extra oomph when layered with the Kiehl’s.
I’m joining the Goutal crew today in Ninfeo Mio. It’s definitely in my top 10 for summer, and it brings back memories of my boyfriend’s dad’s wedding 5 years back. It took place on the property of this beautiful tudor estate, and the small group of family that attended all stayed in the house that night. I wore NM and also got to experience real gardenia flowers for the first time. It was a super memorable and fun time.
wow..what a great memory
I have so many memories of that night… walking through the massive back yard at night in the dark and freaking out about bats being overhead, the beautiful room we stayed in with wood walls. And the bride’s family are very musical so we all hung out in the private dining space, and they played and sang bluegrass. It was like an open mic situation so we were also treated to the recitation of an original poem that was Poe-esque and went on for about 10 min. That will always stick with me as the guy who recited it was sooo pretentious.
I love gardenias and have one in my flower garden and it is blooming now. It smells so heavenly in the warm weather and humidity. I’m guessing I should try Ninfeo Mio?
Well, Ninfeo Mio doesn’t have any gardenia. It is just tied to my gardenia experience. ???? It’s lemon and fig. Full note list: citron, lemon, petitgrain, bitter orange, galbanum, lavender, lentisque, fig, lemon wood, musk.
Oh, haha! Shows you how much I know. Still, I love lemon AND fig, so it certainly seems like something I should try out! Thanks!
you definitely should try, it’s another great fig!
Wonderful wedding memory!
NF is such a good summer scent.
Lovely memory. You smell great!
you smell great!
Happy Solstice!
I’m wearing Tea for Two today, so not really very summery, but yummy nonetheless.
It is yummy and I wouldn’t have thought to try it in the summer. I bet it works well though, I find it is a smoky chai on my skin, not heavy or cloying at all.
It strikes a good balance, I think. It’s light enough that it’s not oppressive in summer but not so light that it doesn’t work in cooler weather.
Happy first day of summer! Today is my birthday. I’m working today, so i could take tomorrow off for my daughter’s birthday. I’m wearing Feve Delicieuse from my surprise Christmas sample. This is still at the top of my full bottle list. Still saving though. I wish it came in smaller size.
Happy Birthday!???? And tomorrow is your daughter’s?! Have fun almost birthday twins!
And last week was my sons! Thanks!
Happy bday!!!!
Happy Birthday to you and your daughter!
Happy Birthday to both of u!
Happy Birthday lilyjo and daughter! Enjoy all your celebrations.
Happy Birthday to both of you!!!
You deserve to treat yourself with a bottle Feve
Happy Birthday!
I love the Feve too and eBay has many decant sellers (250 ml is crazy!)
I should try to find it cheaper. I’ve actually never purchased anything from eBay. I’m a little challenged in that dept.
Happy birthday to you and your daughter! Have fun!
Wow, you almost got a 2-for-1 there! Happy Birthdays to you both!
My birthday is one day after my sister’s (separated by a number of years, of course), and when circumstances allow we get together to celebrate them – it’s a lot of fun that way.
Happy birthday!
You smell delicious! and Happy Birthday!
Happy Birthday to you and your daughter!
Double birthday wishes! Hope that means you get two cakes
Ha! Cake for her. Maybe a brownie for me.
Happy birthday and hope you get that bottle soon!
Thanks. Me too!
Happy birthday to you both!
Happy birthday!
Happy Birthday to you and your daughter!
Happy birthday to you and your daughter! You smell yummy.
Thanks everyone!
Happy scented birthday to you and your daughter!
Happy birthday Lillyjo! And best birthday wishes for your children!
Happy birthday!!
Enjoy both birthdays!!
Happy birthday Lillyjo!
Traveling for a few days with my girls to visit cousins, aunties, and grandmas.
SOTD is Narciso edp again. (White cube). Very much enjoying this one.
Enjoy this longest day of the year everyone. It always makes me a bit sad that now we will be on the downhill slide to short days again. I wish summer solstice were in August. Sigh.
????
It bums me out in that way, too. Especially since we usually have to wait another month for summer weather to start. That said, the spring equinox and promise of long days to come is much needed through that season.
I am wearing 2 tiny smears of Nankun kodo (Sultan pasha attars).
This attar was inspired by japanese incense, and all those spices and agarwood really smell awesome in the summer heat. Almost cooling/soothing.
Listening to soundtrack of ‘In the Mood for Love’, so lovely!
Oh, I need to give in and try some of those attars. That sounds lovely.
SOTD is Robert Piguet Bandit (modern version). It’s not my summer favorite, but the weather is much cooler today (plus it’s evening), so I was in the mood for something different.
Bombay Bling today. Definitely a summer top ten and all year round favorite.
Agreed! Nothing more summery than mango & lychee coctail
you smell fun!
Narciso EdP for me today. It’s not summery yet in Seattle, just cool and humid, but it’s supposed to start heating up tomorrow and get into the high 80s this weekend, so by Friday I should be able to wear a summer favorite!
Twins! We smell lovely!
I agree!
So do I! Have either of you tried the edt? I bought it to wear in the summer. It’s lighter and lovely in warm weather.
You do smell great!
Eau de Merveilles today. Took me a long time to buy a small bottle of this, even though I liked it immediately.
I recently bought a small bottle of this too! It’s so different, not sure how to categorize it. How would you categorize it?
I also just bought a small bottle of this
No idea. It’s salty and sparkly to me.
Officially hot in the UK, the hottest June day since 1976!, somewhere in the 30’s. People arriving at Glastonbury have been treated by paramedics because of the heat.
I was wearing Verveine by L’Occitane, but it has long since vanished.
I’m feeling very summery, (albeit limp and wilted,) in a white embroidered cotton voile sundress, with an embroidered vintage belt, . Enjoying a new lipstick the new Nars Orgasm one, it’s really pretty and easy to wear.
I was in Sephora the other day and considered the Orgasm lippie but opted for the Sex Machine pencil which is more pink than peach. Maybe I should’ve opted for Orgasm ????
Hee hee, it’s good, but not that good!
Amazing how much Nars has capitalized on the original Orgasm blush with all of these spin off products. Must have made them millions by now with just that one product (& the provocative name of course).
I was thinking the same thing!
For awhile I wore Nar’s Dolce Vita but revlon had a similar dupe for much less money
Yes, they must have made a bomb!
I saw a promotion for that recently and got kind of excited. lol. Does it have shimmer, though? I stopped wearing the blush a long time ago due to the shimmer, but I’d love a matte or satin version in a lipstick.
Ack, stay cool!
Continuing my white floral week with CdG Luxe Champaca, which is technically yellow, not white? Probably mixed but so lovely in the heat.
Mmm I love Luxe Champaca. You smell great!
What a great perfume.
Awesome fragrance, and curious about the edt version.
I have a decant of the edt. Not sure how it compares as I’ve never tried the EDP.
If I get my act together and get some decanting supplies, I could send you an edp sample to have your thoughts on the two (I haven’t seen anything written on it, but the two official descriptions suggest differences).
In Bal ‘Afrique thanks to a sample from a generous NSTer. I wasn’t sure I liked it at first but it has grown on me and now I am quite fond of it. Not sure I’d ever shell out for a FB, but I’d like a proper decant for sure.
I wish Byredo did cheaper travel versions.
Good morning and happy summer, all! I haven’t posted here in a while — I was sick with a perfume-negating head cold for a bit, and then very busy, and then away on vacation. I hope you’re all well! Today I’m in one of my “guilty pleasure” scents: Philosophy Falling In Love. I smell like sun-warmed blackberries and tart greenery. This one takes me back — it was the first perfume I ever bought for myself, in my early 20s, and smelling it now reminds me of carefree summer days, working in the Sierras and swimming in the river near my cabin and feeling the world full of dewy promise. Life has gotten more complex since then, but the mountains and river and dewy promise are still there, and I still like smelling like a sophisticated child in this fragrance from time to time.
Welcome back! Beautiful memories!
Welcome back! I have happy memories of that scent too.
Glad you’re back! You’ve convinced me to seek that perfume out. It’s been recommended to me many times as a good blackberry scent, which is one of my favorite summer smells.
I really like it, which is weird as it’s pretty far outside of my typical tastes. Though, smelling my arm right now, it has a watery greenness in common with the Hermes Jardin series, which I do like. Do try it!
Sold! Thanks for the info
Welcome back!
I find that a lot of my favorite incense perfumes work very well in the summer. Today I’m wearing PdE Wazamba. Notes are aldehydes, incense, myrrh, sandalwood, opoponax, cypress, apple and fir balsam.
you smell great! I love that one.
Must try this one.
That’s a good one ! Very nice!
Osmanthe Yunnan for another warm day here. I have brushed four five-gallon buckets of winter fur off the dog this week and he seems much happier. Only his hind legs and chest to go! I suppose I would be happier, too, if I were wearing a heavy coat in 85F heat and then took it off.
Smelling great!
Happy dog
Wow! I hope your dog is grateful.
Good grief that’s a lotta fur!
Joining in with the Annick Goutal club today, too.
I’m wearing Le Chevrefeuille.
To me, it’s green and sparkling.
You’re smelling good. AG has so many perfect scents for spring and summer.
house cousins
Yum! Another one they should keep in production.
Homebrew Ambrette 9 oil with a tiny bit of terracotta on top. I’m glad I’ve tried this one, and I can see why it’s a favourite, but I don’t think I will have to buy a bottle…
Prada Infusion d’Iris edp today.
My top 10 2017 summer, no particular order:
Jardins Nil, Toit, Mediterranean
Burberry Brit Sheer
Balmain Ivoire (new)
Infusion d’Iris
Chanel Chance Eau Fraiche & Tendre
Joie Folle de Joie
JLo Still
Yup!
I almost wore JLo Still today. I love that one for summer!
Yes! It’s my most complimented perfume, and my least expensive (for new FB).
(Top 10 subject to change, lol)
Finally complying with the community project for the first time in weeks! Dame Verbena, Freesia, & Musk. I know how quickly it disappears from my skin, so I brought my remaining 2ish mL with me for some sneaky reapplication. My favorite Dame, I think!
Message me and I’ll see if I can find my mini to send you! It was not for me. My username + doublemint at gmail.
That’s so kind of you! Emailing now.
Please do not think of it as compliance, that makes me feel like I’m standing here with a big stick, LOL…
It’s ALWAYS optional
Sorry, didn’t mean to make you feel mean
I like trying to abide by the community projects! It’s nice to be given some structure to my scents.
Oh, I was mostly kidding — I just don’t want anyone to feel compelled to participate!
Today I am wearing the scent that was one of my first ones down the rabbit hole more than 10 years ago: L’Artisan Figuier Extreme. I still love it though I don’t pull it out very often. I know many people prefer Philosykos but this is still my favorite fig. It’s great for summer as an alternative to the citrus styles.
We are preparing for Tropical Storm Cindy here on the Texas Gulf Coast, and may have flooding. Good luck to others who are more in its path and might get wind and tornadoes.
That”s my favourite fig, too. It is somehow sunbaked and less harsh, a bit richer than Diptyque.
I hope that you stay safe & dry, and that Cindy is gone quickly.
Stay safe Calypso.
2nd that!
PSA: I just happened to be browsing fragrance.com and noticed a wide range of Annick Goutal fragrances on sale. (No affiliation.)
For example, a huge 6.8-oz tester of Vetiver can be had for $51.09. AG is my fav vetiver, and I tried this current version recently and thought it not bad. If anyone out there had ever considered splitting it, nows the time to seize the day.
waving the white flag…
I already bought Songes today
I’m shocked! Shocked!
Jade Leaf Tea today. It’s quite lovely in the heat.
forgot to add, I am interested in smelling Prada Heat Wave if anyone would be willing to swap a sample with me in the CONUS, email me gee male. madtolive88510.
I sampled Jade Leaf three last month. It was my favorite one from the tea collection.
You smell great!
SOTD is Ex Nihilo Musk Infini.
SOTD is .vero.profumo “Rozy EdP”.
Notes are rose, peach, passionfruit, lilac, honey, sandalwood, hyacinth, tarragon and powdery notes.
I don’t like it as much as yesterday’s Mito EdP, nor as much the Onda EdP I own already. The opening is confused, before the notes resolve themselves (insofar as they manage to).
Phew, you’re back
????
Ha! All’s right with world now.
I liked Rozy but there was an odd plasticky smell I couldn’t get past. Maybe beeswax.
Ha I get a strong plasticky smell from it too. It’s totally not what I was expecting. The perfume has grown on me though. I’ve got a decant of VdE concentration.
I think it grew away from me since it didn’t bother me as much at first. I actually looooved it! Until it got under my skin with subsequent wearing. I’ve only tried the EDP.
hehe
I too prefer Mito and Onda, and I have to say the new Naja is pretty great.
Busy.

Triple strength coffee.
Shalimar Guerlain EDT.
My favorite.
Why won’t I be monogamous?
LOLOLOL
Have to ponder, when I have pondering time.
Carpe Diem. Peace.
There is enough monogamy in life already without having to apply rules to your perfume.
Today a more generous application of serpentine (cdg): green, smoke, iris-ey, woody, I didn’t detect the “City pollution” notes. Could be Nr 19’s slightly scruffy and intellectuel cousin? Have to compare the two at the same time…in any case a pleasant surprise, maybe FB worthy?
Have you tried Odeur 53? Related idea, but, IMO, so much better than Serpentine!
Cool, thanks for the tip, another one to try!
Plus, if you are considering a FB and are into that kind of stuff, Odour 53 has an unsurpassed packaging as well.
https://www.tepapa.govt.nz/learn/matariki-maori-new-year/matariki-whare-tapere/matariki-star-factsStill pitch black outside and it sounds like squally rain. Summer inside with CBIHP At the Beach in honour of all you up north. Later I will wear Ice Station Pineapple ( which is a little like Demeter Sex on the Beach)
Then, after dog walking in the dark and mud, will switch to Miller Harris La Pluie which is lovely and a proper perfume.
Happy summer to you all. We have a special Maori celebration called Matariki to mark the beginning of the Maori New Year
https://www.tepapa.govt.nz/learn/matariki-maori-new-year/matariki-whare-tapere/matariki-star-facts
Happy winter solstice to you down under! And happy new year! You smell wonderful.
Thanks for posting that cool astronomy link!
Happy New Year Kanuka!
At the Beach 1966 is a great scent.
I love AG scents, especially Eau de Camille and Folavril. I wish I purchased a replacement for Folavril when it was still available.
The original AGs were glorious and those two were my favorites as well (also, Eau de Ciel which got discontinued and then brought back recently reformulated)…Eau de Camille was such a beautiful rounded and friendly green…wish they would bring them both back.
My sotd is Magie Noire vintage extrait, it will be a bit warm today for it but I don’t care, I need it’s comforting oriental/spicy goodness today.
Wow, Vintage Sikkim yesterday and vintage Magie Noire today!!!
Perfection. ’nuff said.
Cristalle, another summer favorite of mine.
Black Angel by Mark Buxton today
Hello, NST everywhere. I posted on Tuesday, but somehow it didn’t “take”, and yesterday I was ill with what I am pleased to call delayed jet lag, but was probably a new species of migraine. Here I am today, though, large as life, or possibly a little larger–travel broadened me in more ways than the best ones!
At the beginning of the year,,I spent days and weeks writing feedback on a doctoral thesis and helping the candidate panel best the damn thing into shape. Well, today’s main task is to accompany the student through her viva, so my SOTD is the (fairly) discreet, gorgeous and infinitely comforting Black Cashmere. It’s perfect for this miserable winter’s day, perfect for sitting still and willing my student to be SENSIBLE when she answers the examiners, and actually, just perfect all round. I’ve anchored it today with some BC body lotion that was in the samples bag lovely Foxbins gave me, and I smell heavenly.
So, I’m well returned from holiday, and feeling rested and set up for the oncoming semester. I’m going to a Matariki celebration tonight, always deeply moving. Life is good. Damp underfoot and blustery around corners, but good. Be well, all.
Welcome home and happy solstice/new year!
Happy solstice!
Good luck to your student! What is Matariki?
Matariki is the Maori new year. Kanuka posted a link above to the website at Te Papa, the national museum. It’s an important celebration in Maori culture, and always a moving time.
Welcome home and I hope today goes well – if that’s possible. At least summer is on the way!
Rose Musc Attar from the Rising Phoenix is my SOTD. It really blooms in the scorcher weather we are having
Lutens’ El Attarine to say hello to summer and goodbye to a not so enjoyable task at work that is now over.
Congrats on getting that task over and done! El Attarine is a fine way to celebrate it.
Thank you! I tend to get that weird empty feeling when big tasks are over (and I have to immediately jump into another one), so the sunny attitude of El Attarine is very helpful.
You smell great! Congrats on getting that unpleasant task out of the way.
Thank you, cazabon; hope Montreal is treating you well! (too hot for my taste in SoCal …)
It is nice and cool right now, perfect.
SotD = Songes EdP because I wanted to jump on today’s AG love train.
I carry Songes in a silver atomizer in my purse every day. Sometimes I spray Songes when I get in the car to go home at the end of a work day. It is my favorite default spritz when I need a floral boost.
we smell good, twin

hi, twin!
Continuing my week of Sedate Office Wear I am in Jour d’Hermes Absolu.
Beautiful example of S-Off-Wear. You smell great.
Since the AG mavens seem to be out in force today, I’ll venture a question: How do the edt and edp concentrations of Mandragore compare? I’ve only smelled the edt so far.
Spritzed on a bit of Angel Muse this morning, a small stealth wear as my husband doesn’t like it. Have now switched to. FM Noir Épices.
either way, you smell great!
Another summer of 2017 fave today. SOTD = Alaia Paris EdP, the original, from what is almost the last of my sample. It blooms beautifully in the heat and humidity
Doesn’t it? I wear it year-round, but it needs heat to fully flesh out. (I don’t get the chalky note in winter, for instance.) It’s crazy how long that stuff lasts on my skin. It’s usually still going strong for up to 24 hrs. Is it like that on you?
I agree on Alaia needing warmth to be at its best. I tried it this past winter, and it was a pale shadow of its summer self. Not sure I get 24 hours longevity from it, though. I’ll have to pay attention tomorrow to see if it is still hanging around.
As someone with scent-eating-skin, that kind of longevity is really noticeable
Most perfumes last 2-6 hours on me.
Alaia lasts an incredible amount of time on me. Last week my husband and I went out to dinner, and I sprayed this for the occasion. The next morning at 9:30am, while working out, I could still smell its gorgeous remnants on me.
Scent of the morning- Chanel 19 edt.
Scent of the afternoon- Dior Homme Cologne, stole couple spritzes from a new bottle I bought for my husband. It smells fantastic and since I don’t have any citrus frags in my wardrobe I will be borrowing a little from my DH.

Woke up to warmer weather with a bit of sun peeking out, and a good dose of Ginestet Botrytis. I only discovered this at the tail end of last summer and it seemed perfect for that time of year. Works for the first peek at summer, too.
It’s gone and I’ve transitioned to Cristalle EDP, which arrived in the mail today. I won the bottle in an auction and wasn’t really paying attention to size – I just wanted the EDP, which I have in a little dab mini and was desperate to spray. It’s a 100 ml bottle which is GINORMOUS. I’m 5’10” with large hands, and I’d venture to guess petite women might need both hands to spray this stuff on. Anyhoo, YUM! and now I have a lifetime supply
Enjoying this week’s theme and am taking lots of notes! (and adding lots of bottles, decants and samples to virtual carts
)
It is a record week of toastiness here, people. Good thing it wasn’t summer until today. ???? What kind of a dummy ends up with all sorts of appointments in desert heat like this? Oh, that’s right: me.
SOTD is the crisp and refreshing N°5 L’Eau.
Stay cool and hydrated if you’re in the heat, dry if you’re facing a hurricane, and firmly on the ground if you’re facing tornadoes.
Yes, this weather is crazy. but some will still negate it …
Eau de Protection again, in my new boots, deep red lipstick, and black chandelier earrings, counting down the days til autumn, The Best Season. Sigh.
