Tuesday, and Brian Wilson's birthday, and World Refugee Day. What fragrance are you wearing?
I'm dragging after staying up too late last night with Twin Peaks: The Return. I'm wearing Parfums de Nicolaï Eau d'Été from Erin's Top 10 Summer Fragrances 2013.
Reminder: On 6/23, wear one of your "top 10 of summer" fragrances (unless it's winter where you are, in which case wear one of your "top 10 of winter" scents).
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2017, where I'll try to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.
Note: you can find a Deep Tea Diver silicone infuser at Amazon for about $7.
Songes, again
You’re on a roll and smelling pretty! I have the Songes monoi body oil and will use it this week.
I have been eyeing a full bottle of Songes..but I am sticking with my no buy policy.
If anyone wants to do an “unofficial” swap let me know. sandrabenedict at gmail dawt com
I have never tried Songes. But…you are tempting me.
Doing a full week of my gateway drug, Chinatown.
white florals are nice in this type of weather.
I tried Chinatown for the first time the other day..very nice!
Think you have just triggered a That Reminds me for tomorrow, or even this evening.
SOTD Kyoto. I’m doing inventory in a couple of small storage rooms this week so I will be wearing things aren’t too “big”.
You smell great, Kyoto is one of my favorite incense. And this one also works in the summer.
I have broken out the summer collection and am drenched in Ananas Fizz. I smell like a fizzy pineapple, and I couldn’t be happier
Yum. I might need to wear that this afternoon.
Hi NST family!
I’m in Tauer Cologne du Maghreb, because Robin reminded me of it in her review of new Tauer L’Eau.
I smell great & very appropriate for 29 degrees C.
Oooh, I have a sample of that one; will have to try it tomorrow.
Also just saw that L’Artisan is launching new fragrance inspired by Bretagne (it’s in same like as Bucoliques de Provence)
I love and wear many perfumes by L’ Artisan, I’d be interested in trying this one!
Oooh nice,
Bretagne is rocks, ocean and greens to me.
I hope its salt and seaweed! 🙂
It has algae absolute listed in notes
That sounds interesting! Did some googling and found this:
http://www.mimifroufrou.com/scentedsalamander/2017/06/l-artisan-parfumeur-un-air-de-bretagne.html
Day 2 of white florals with FM Carnal Flower. Looking forward to the arrival today of a decant of Arquiste Ella. Didn’t think much of it the first time I tried it but I’ve tried it a couple of times since and now I love it!
And not sure how that tea thing works, but it’s adorable.
A friend of mine got me one a couple of years ago. It’s cute as can be, but not very practical. Hard to fill, hard to empty, hard to wash. But, it’s a giggle to use.
Cute decoration, though.
He opens, you put in tea!
Easy. I’m assuming the O2 tank is just decor and not funtional then.
Yes, it just hangs outside the teacup.
I may need a decant of that one as well.
There’s something really sexy about it. I wish it were a tad less sweet in the drydown.
You smell beautiful, I wore it only last Sunday.
Thank you! I like it more each time I wear it.
Good morning Y’all!
Wearing You or Someone Like You, by Etat Libre d’Orange…..Nice job, Mr. Burr! 🙂
Agreed! This one is getting a lot of skin time! It’s going on my summer favorites list.
House twin! I’m wearing Fils de Dieu.
My FAVORITE ELdO of all time!!! Mmmmmmm
ooh! Very lovely indeed! 🙂
I’m a house triplet, in Rossy de Palma! But Fils de Dieu is also my favorite from them.
In Guerlain Terracotta. Another summer favorite! Just placed a blind order of Tea Rose based on recent comments here. I was looking for a nice, simple rose fragrance that did not break my perfume “restricted” budget. (Lately, I have done some damage. Donatella…). With that price nothing can go wrong.
Hope you will like the Tea Rose!
Think about it in terms of cups of coffee: it costs the same as about 2 1/2 cups! At least on Amazon where it’s 7 bucks.
Thanks for the tip! I’ve been wanting a bottle to use as a room spray. That’s half what I paid for my last one 😉
That’s the 4 oz which is cheaper than the 2 oz! It’s an add-on with a $35 order. I remembered you talking about using it as a room spray and I’m thunkung about it too, though I don’t think my husband’ll be too happy about that.
I think it’ll be nice on linens, too, which your husband would probably like even less 😉
Im sure you will love it, let us know!
What a pic, Robin!
I am wearing Guerlain Herba Fresca. It’s amazing in this hot weather.
Oh, another one I included on at least one summer list!
And isn’t that hysterical? There are plenty of silly silicone infusers out there.
Yes, the infuser is silly and funny. 😀
Herba Fresca is indeed very summery. I should get more and wear it more frequently.
Failing miserably at the community project as I am having too much fun testing.
This morning My Indian Childhood, Il Tuo Tulipano Red , L’Air de Rien, Prelude to Love and Shangri-La. Later when it fades I will add Sottile, Classic Mimosa, Ophelia, Serpentine and the Unicorn Spell.
Last night I tested Cuir Mauresque and L’Eau Ambree.
Over the weekend I also tested the Dame Soliflores that I hadn’t gotten around to trying- Wisteria, Peony, Lily of the Valley, Freesia and Honeysuckle…all quite lovely and perfect for spring/summer.
you are leading the way on how to make the most of your samples.
Wafting all kinds of goodness in your corner of the universe!!! 🙂
What did you think of the wisteria, please?
Soft, slightly sweet and a bit of anise to my wonky nose…have no idea what wisteria is supposed to smell like but the Dame is really pretty…..(as are most of his soliflores). Bear in mind that my olfactory impressions are quite often way off the mark…I usually apply and sniff first and then research after…only to find out that what my nose perceives is not at all what notes are listed 🙂
There is definitely a “spicy” aspect to it but not overwhelming…like a mute cinnamon…..
What do you think of Unicorn Spell, if you have time?
This will now be my third attempt at responding to your question…computer keeps eating my responses! From what I remember very pungent and green…I left the vial at work so I cannot retest right now.
No worries, thanks for the info!
Taking advantage of the lower temperatures (midnight brought a violent storm after the heatwave) to enjoy Dame Perfumery Musk Oil, which I’m enjoying a lot these days.
I started the day with Bergamote 22 from Le Labo. But I’m working from home this afternoon so I’m now doused in CdG Daphne, and I smell splendid.
Oh, I may need to end the day in Bergamote.
Do! It’s so cheerful and happy. A very sunny scent.
Gosh I love Daphne. I have two small sample bottles and have to dole them out carefully. I wish I could find it somewhere.
It’s tricky to find outside Europe. Net-a-porter has it, I think.
Bergamote has amazing longevity for a citrus.
Crystal Turquoise sky.
Lemon yellow Sun! !!!
Perfect weather, last day of spring.
Workout.
Triple strength coffee.
Velveeta melting on a toasted Sesame bagel, scrambled eggs with onions.
Fidji Guy Laroche.
Aqua Net Aldehydes, galbanum, hyacinth, iris, myrrh.
Crisp, green, classic.
😀
Carpe Diem. Peace.
Love Fidji! Please come sit near me while I work on various house projects…
Excellent breakfast, excellent scent. Wonderful!
I have to ask myself why I haven’t smelled Fidji yet. Is yours current or vintage? And does it matter?
Thanks for the love FearsMice and Ede !
Kpaint, my EDT was manufactured by Cosmair.
I don’t know if there is a later maker, but Cosmair made all the vintage Lauren and Polo that command high prices.
Cheers!
😉
Oh, is that the key with Lauren? I looked for a vintage bottle years ago but couldn’t crack the code on what to look for so I gave up. Also, searching for “Lauren Ralph Lauren” turns up WAYYY too many results, as you might imagine 😉
Thanks!
Look for the cologne spray instead of EDT.
Too hot and humid for anything other than Frederic Malle Eau de Magnolia today! Which reminds me, anytime Uncle Freddie wants to release this in a candle is just fine by me.
He is really amping up his offerings in terms of body products, that’s for sure.
I want Iris Poudre shower gel.
Yeah, you can’t have that yet.
Twin Peaks! How are you finding The Return so far? We have 5 episodes recorded and will binge one of these weekends.
SOTD is Gris Montaigne, from a decant sent by a lovely NSTer. It’s leather, but with flowers, fizz and lightness – just lovely.
So far I haven’t been that impressed w/ TP. I was a fan of the original and the new show has a very different feel imo.
I haven’t watched the most recent episode from Sunday yet though but my brother said it was good one and maybe feels a bit more like the original show.
Robin, how are you liking it so far?
I am loving it — it is different from the original, but I think closer to what he meant to do, and can do now without network interference. Much weirder, more violent (there are bits I just don’t watch), scarier, but also slower, yet still way harder to follow, and I gave up on the original Season 2 midway through so I’d be lost without the massive reddit discussion and the Twin Peaks wiki.
She-ra, Sunday’s episode had more plot movement (and explanation) than the earlier episodes, but even then, there is for instance (don’t think this is a spoiler) a 2 minute long shot of someone sweeping the floor. You either have to surrender to Lynch or not 🙂
Thanks! That sounds interesting.
My favourite Lynch movies are Blue Velvet and Mulholland drive…but they are both not an easy breezy watch…(esp Blue Velvet.. Omg…).
I have never seen Blue Velvet and probably never will. I loved Mulholland Drive.
Yay for plot movement 😉 and yes, he does like himself some long shots. I agree that this is closer to his original vision.
Blue Velvet is worth seeking out. Some say it is his best film…disturbing, strange yet poignant.
I decided ages ago that it would be too disturbing for me. Now that I’m sitting through TP again not sure that makes sense, but…
I really can watch almost anything and Blue Velvet utterly haunted and disturbed me, so I think you are wise to stay away, Robin. It was right after my father had died, but I don’t think that was the only thing that made me react so strongly. There are other Lynch movies I love–and things much more violent by other people. Something about the particular nature of the creepy. I wasn’t a Twin Peaks fan though and so haven’t watched the new season.
It certainly sounded more disturbing than TP. And TP is plenty disturbing.
Funny – I live a few blocks away from a house that some scenes from the original were filmed in and was just thinking about David Lynch the other day. There are parts of this town that would make a good film set, which is what got me thinking about it.
Oh, and Gris Montaigne sounds delightful! I’ll have to look it up.
Robin, how is Twin Peaks???
I think I”ll wait for the season to end and then binge watch it…but i dont know if I can wait that long…
Its warm and sunny again.
I am wearing Eau de narcisse bleu, by Hermès. This scent works year round for me, but in spring and summer it works exceptionally well!
Stay cool..if you can..
If I remember holland doesn’t have much a/c
Yes you remember correctly. Large stores and offices have a/c or some form of climate control. But our houses do not come standard with an a/c.
I slept with windows open last night and it was pretty okay. Downside, I woke up early from birds chirping, train noise and sunlight. But it was better than sleeping with the fan on.
Thankfully the office i work in has a pretty okay climate control system. 🙂
Jiji, see my comment just above!
I had planned to save and then binge, and totally wish I had but I succumbed to curiosity. Now I’m stuck waiting. Why didn’t Showtime just release them all at once? It is more like an 18 hour movie than a normal series, anyway.
Frags are evaporating so fast in this sweltering heat, I’m on no. 3 today, Eau Sauvage, cool and refreshing while I’m wilting away!
Great choice!
Twins! We smell great!
I am also wearing You or Someone Like You, from Robin’s generous giveaway. Thanks, Robin! It reminds me of Pamplelune. It has that whiffy, almost sweaty top note of grapefruit and there is a minty undertone. Almost as if Pamplelune and Herba Fresca had a baby. Perfect for summer, especially hot, humid Texas Summer. Which usually starts in May, no matter what the calendar says.
So glad you like it!
Got my CdG Library sample pack from Luckyscent and chose Eau de Cologne up first. Wow, this stuff is gorgeous!
I am waiting for my pack. I cannot wait for Sticky Cake and Garage.
I’m excited for all the synthetics!
Inadvertently in Perles de Mousse this morning, as I spilled a bit on myself while trying to fill a glass sample vial. One of the few spilling mishaps in the world in which the spilled state is preferable to the non-spilled – I smell good.
I have a decanting supply question for you folks. I’m looking specifically for long, thin, 2 ml glass vials with no lip at the top. My last order left me with a bunch of vials that have the tiniest opening, which is difficult to spray into and even more difficult to insert a plastic cap into. Anybody know where I can get straight-edged vials? I’ve done several searches, and it looks like many of the vials now have this inward pinch at the top, or the descriptions of the vials make it difficult to determine what the top looks like.
For glass vials, try Riverrun (several outlets carry the brand). I usually order spray vials, but they make non-spray glass vials too.
Thanks for the recommendation – I’ll check them out.
You do smell good! PdM is very pretty.
You could also consider getting a teensy funnel, which I use for decants ‘cos I am not very handy in the spritzing department.
I’ve tried that, and it works pretty well, but if I’m decanting a few different perfumes, I feel like I have to clean the funnel really well between decants, which adds more steps to a process that already takes me longer than I think it should. 🙂
I don’t use the same funnel for different perfumes; instead, I keep the funnels in individual baggies with the perfume name for reuse.
Parfums de Nicolai Odalisque
just got this sample – I am using the “cottonball in the bra” technique – boy that really soaks up a sample quickly!
What is that? A new way of applying perfume?
I think it is an old way! I read about this in several comments to the Bois de Jasmin post about different ways to wear perfume, to make it last, etc.
and it doesn’t stain your clothes or bra?
well, this is the first time that I am trying it, but the cotton ball is not soaked, so I don’t think it will be a problem.
One of the posters said that she would wear the same cotton ball for a few days to build up her personal scent, I guess kind of like seasoning a skillet 🙂
Swimming against the current this morning, as it’s not summer where I am. (Well, officially it will be summer at 9:24 p.m., apparently, but you’d never know that in my northern corner of the Pacific NW.) Another grey and gloomy day, plus my skin feels dry (who knows why), so I’m wearing the Tauer Amber Flush oil I got for my birthday last month. Happy Juneuary! Hoping to be in the mood to break out those summer fragrances soon (the weather’s supposed to get better later this week, I think).
Yum! The Amber Flush oil has been on my to-buy list forever, but it may be a bit too warm for it now. Have you had a chance to test it out in warmer weather yet?
Friday, or so my weather app says. We’ll see what actually happens. I’m curious about that oil as well.
Oh, and my skin’s been dry, too. What gives? The effect of this weird humidity, maybe?
Today is my daughter’s 4th birthday…where does the time go?
And I got an offer yesterday for the job I had the 2nd interview for 🙂 …it was a decent offer (thankfully they didn’t lowball me) but I pushed back and the HR person said he had to check in w/ his director to see if he go to that amount. I don’t particularly like negotiating but I do like buying perfume so there you go. 😉
I am trying some Reine de Nuit today compliments of the so-very-generous Hajusuuri. It is lovely…not sure how the price is justified but it is blooming quite nicely from a teeny dab.
Good for you for taking the brave step and negotiating for more. You’re worth it!
Happy 4th birthday to your daughter. Hope her day is special
Happy Birthday to little miss She-ra! And congrats on the job offer!
Or: She-rette? Hmm, needs work…
I love that. Happy birthday to She-rette!
A worker should be paid what they are worth! Good for you for negotiating!
And Happy B Day to your She-Ra jr!
Asking for higher salary when hired is a win win I think. Either you get it or not, but it shows you like to buy perfume—oops I mean it shows you value your worth. ????
Yup. I’m all for not just accepting the opening offer, generally speaking.
Yay, congrats on the job offer and happy birthday to your daughter!
Haha love the ‘I do like buying perfume’ part 😀
Good move, it takes some guts, and congrats on the job offer of course!
Happy Birthday to your little one! And congrats in the job offer and hope they fulfill your request.
Congratulations!
Happy 4th birthday to your daughter!
Congrats on the 4th birthday and a job offer
Happy birthday and congratulations!
Good work 99!
Yay for the job offer and for 4th birthdays!
Aww, little girl birthdays are the sweetest things. Happy birthday to her, and congrats on the job offer! The application process has been quite trying.
Oooh, congrats on the job offer and happy birthday to Your daughter!
Congratulations and hope your negotiating pans out! I have always asked for more than the initial offer and usually got it. Happy birthday to your darling daughter too!
Can June be over now? This has been a month full of disappointing setbacks for me and I’m ready for July to bring a fresh start.
I’m in Penhaligon’s Sartorial again, wearing a lot of pink, and trying to cultivate this kind of mood: https://media.giphy.com/media/teUre9nIvgcYo/giphy.gif
It is racing by, so hope things look up soon!
Maybe you can get an early fresh start with the solstice? Hope things turn around for you!
I’m in Eau Sauvage today. Few things more perfect for this weather!
My mother in law is in town visiting for a week. I’m quite patient with her, but she tends to frustrate my love (I suppose our mothers always frustrate us at times). She really is quite funny though, so I’m enjoying her visit.
you smell great! that is on my short list of full bottle fragrances “to buy”
Eau Sauvage is wonderful.
You smell great!
Its not on my FB-wish list yet for me, but I often spray it on when I am in a department store (like Dior Homme edt. Or Bottega veneta pour homme. Big likes, but so far not enough for a fb)
You smell amazing!
Scent of the moment is clean, as in freshly showered, powered, lotioned. Enjoying it now, because it ain’t gonna last… I’m working on house projects this week. On Day 3 of what should be “simple” fixes in the bathroom. Blue haze hanging over the Eastern Seaboard caused by several episodes of swearing up a storm. Current tally: 2 trips to Home Depot, 3 to local hardware store (4th needed to return parts that didn’t fit). Deva and Ede, how do you DO this stuff?…
Happy Tuesday, y’all!
Drat, that’s “powdered,” of course. My power is from several cups of regular-strength coffee. 🙂
I noticed you didn’t mention me :-). I have never commented on DIYs because I have never….I can’t even…
HA! I swear I’m never going to watch another YouTube video again — they all say, no matter what the project is, that it is easy and will only take 15 minutes. LIES! Lying liars! Propaganda!
… … um, maybe I should take a Tylenol and lie down again… … 😐
Me neither… that’s what husbands are for. I hate fixit/renovation projects.
Gorgeous, perfect weather day! The breeze downtown NYC is especially nice.
SOTD: Rose Rebelle Respawn
is it so nice..reading outside on our little balcony while the babies nap.
like that idea!
Love this one. Would have to wear it tomorrow, unless I get sidetracked by something else.
Me too. I’m so glad I’ve discovered that spraying really makes a difference with this one… it lasts all day!
Hey Guys!
1) Tuesday!
2) After yesterday’s uncomfortable mugginess and heat, today is way more moderate. I am in Molinard’s Jasmine- small spritzes. Perfect.
3) House stuff: The muggy, warm weather has given life to the weeds- and to the beans, tomatoes and eggplant! It’s interesting to watching the plant battle outside. It’s messy but very pretty at the same time.
4) How are you?
You smell great Ede !
Molinard Habanita is a favorite of mine.
Lovely that you’re growing vegetables. My Father would grow tomatoes, peppers, and rosemary. Very Italian, now that I think about it.
I can kill wax fruit, but I admire people with green thumbs ! LOL. 😉
Cheers!
Habanita I really, really lovely, but it’s so grand that I can’t see wearing it more than a couple of times a year! I still use a sample from a couple of years back!
The plants? It’s not me but the very rich soil that covers this place! 🙂
In Arielle Shoshana today. 🙂
I am going to have to try this one!
Yes you do! I am considering a FB!
Twins!
Today’s SOTD is one of my favorite scents by Lancôme – Sikkim (vintage), with notes of leather, jasmine, galbanum and oakmoss. It will bloom beautifully later on when it warms up.
Sounds wonderful!
Enjoying my week away from work and the perfume freedom it brings. Wearing a bunch of Pichola, a top 5 summer favourite.
That steeper is pretty cute 🙂
Rossy de Palma today. Reekend of roses!
Uh, reeking of course. Why would autocorrect change a real word into a fake one??
Reekend is now a real word. 😀
Reekend is how I spend days off wearing the perfumes that are inappropriate for the office. 😉
ha! that should be a future community project…wear a “REEKEND” fragrance…….
Yes!
Bwahahaha! ????
To reekends!
I love it! Wish I’d thought of it!
Love this!
I thought “Reekend” was an awesome portmanteau, not autocorrect!
???? ???? ????
I too am “reekend” of roses today in Rossy as well! Just used up the last of my decant and bought a full-size bottle because…well…there’s a freaking DRAGON on the bottle. Enough said.
Good call 🙂 I’m slightly regretting having missed out on a decant of this.
Me too. It’s beautiful and is growing on me but I don’t think it’s me. It’s a lady with a lot of va-va-voom and big bazooms!
Ha! Really? That describes me not at all but I find this one “very me”.
Same!
Sprayed on Jour d’Hermes hoping the citrus opening and the white flowers will turn out well in the heat. Not! Need cologne and I lack a good one in my collection*. Time to hit the shops?
*Any excuse, eh?
I lack one as well, but not sure which direction to go as it’s not a genre I’ve spent much time with.
Dames! Hermessences! The Mugler cologne!
Vétiver de Guerlain!
Oh, I love Jour in the heat. You not so much, eh?
I like Jour d’Hermes in warm weather, but just a dab or three 🙂
Oops, forgot to mention my favorite straight up classic colognes are
4711 and the Chanel EdC from Les Exclusifs.
A few favorite cologne-ish scents:
lime note – Eau de Guerlain
tea note – Assam of India
iris note – Infusion d’Iris
woods – Bois Blonds
I love this style of scent. 🙂
Silliest picture of the year so far! I love it. I also love Eau d’Eté. Took it with me on holiday as I usually do.
My SOTD is Chergui. Which I think was once considered an oddball of a scent. I love it in summer as it makes it less dense and therefore more wearable.
Hmmm, I may have experimented with Chergui in the heat but don’t recall what I thought of it. It sounds like I need to try that!
I only really appreciate it in summer, so maybe worth a try.
It’s hot. Not Phoenix hot, but hot. If I had a bottle of that new Imaginary Authors perfume, I’d be wearing that. And maybe drinking a mint julep. But since I don’t, I wearing PdN’s Fig Tea. Notes of figs, osmanthus, davana, tea according to Luckyscent. Very pretty.
Popping in for a quick visit. I’ve been too busy to do more than scan lately.
I’ve broken my White Linen streak today with a dose of Dame Gardenia over a few dabs of Musc Tonkin. It’s so hot and miserable here that perfume just burns off in a couple of hours. Oh, well. I’ve been too rushed to enjoy it much anyway.
Hope everyone is well and enjoying summertime!
Good to hear from you!
I was thinking Arabie today but went with ISM today. I will wear Arabie as a bedtime scent or wear it tomorrow.
Jardin Sur le Nil – looking forward to breaking out the new Balmain Ivoire this weekend, i love it in 80+ temps.
I hope Jardin line (especially Sur le Nil) will keep appearing in the comments this week. They are great for summer.
SOTD = Arielle Shoshanna EDP
What a fun fragrance! That initial blast of fruit is sooo juicy it felt like I was biting into fruit! I don’t recall having had passionfruit so I would describe it as less sweet version of mango (ummm mango without the mango bits – I know it doesn’t make sense but I will stick to this since I’ve never had passionfruit considering the unappealing visual). I used 3 spritzes from a sample vial and will need to amp it up as it got to drydown in about 3 hours but what a nice drydown – musky and vanillic!
Speaking of fun, I am obsessed with this:
http://www.brighton.com/content/3505/christo-cuff-bracelet.html
I have 3 jewelry pieces: a narrow cuff in silver, a slim cuff in gold and a pendant in silver. I went to town with the inserts. I may just bring these and several pieces of the inserts plus a pair of earrings and I would be all set from day to evening while on vacation.
These are nice bracelets!!
Brighton makes nice jewelry. I first encountered the line probably 12 years ago at a Pendleton boutique in downtown Lake Oswego (near Portland, OR) and then a year or two later, a Brighton boutique opened up ar a mall in Portland. I added more pieces to my collection once more boutiques sprouted up in NJ. Surprisingly, I had never ordered online as that probably would not have a good outcome on my wallet!
I love jewelry like this. You are set for vacation with a bracelet and a few inserts!
It is very versatile. I am trying to avoid the matchh-matchy look by purposely buying non-matching inserts except for one set.
Foxbins, I was trying to think of the mall in Portland where the boutique is located and it is Washington Square!
A lemming is born!
Oh oh 🙂
Those are lovely! Too bad all cuffs make me look shackled.
I so need to get myself a sample of the AS.
The slim version with a bright colored insert may work to not make it look like shackles.
Passionfruit has a tart, pop in the mouth sensation to counter the sweetness ( related ti crunching the pips ) so I think it is probably closer to pomegranate than mango in that sense
Thanks! I didn’t realize you can eat passionfruit seeds.
Ari’s passionfruit note is spot on. I’ve eaten the real thing and can vouch for the high fidelity if the scent.
And a jewelry lemming is born. Those cuffs are gorgeous! Do the leather inserts hold up well and feel nice against skin?
I’ve inly jad my.bracelet for a month and have worn it 6 or 7x. So far so good. The inserts are reversible so both sides are finished and feel good next to skin. I started out cautiously because I’ve had issues with leather dye causing a skin reaction but these have not bothered me at all.
If passionfruit tastes as good as the perfume smells, I need to find passionfruit to eat!
OMG on the fat finger mistakes…you can read between the spelling and punctuation!
Also, Brighton has a generous return / repair / replace policy if something turns out to be less durable than intended.
Excellent! Thank you for the Brighton info, it’s all new to me and very appealing. I am wondering what it might be like to have perfume inadvertently settle into that leather, would it smell wonderful or awful?
I don’t know if I’ve actually eaten the fruit itself, but I highly recommend passion fruit sorbet. Delish!
Those bracelets are great. Thanks for posting the link. I have a wedding in August and don’t have any jewelry to go with the dress I’m wearing..
Come to think of it, I may gave had oassionfruit sorbet once! As to the jewelry, you should be able to find something that matches.
Freshly showered, and staying inside on this very rainy day, I’m wearing BBW Japanese Cherry Blossom lotion layered with bit of Teo Cabanel Early Roses.
Combo of two Demeter scents. A tea and black ginger. I’ve started to enjoy tea scents on warm summer days. It’s fade soon, so I’ll likely spritz on my Jasmin tea from Fragonard.
Irritated in my switch-out of clothes. One of my primary summer linen dresses is nowhere to be found. Grrr…..
Don’t you hate losing clothes? That happens to me from time to time. No idea how.
Eeeek! I swear there’s sock limbo between the washer and dryer. Maybe it got stuck with your husband’s stuff?
Or wait…did you bring it on vacation and it’s still in the suitcase?
Cool day – 61F now and headed toward a high of 63 plus rain, and 49F overnight (!?!). Figured it was as good a time as any to wear a favorite of summers past – L’Artisan Amour Nocturne. This really is more of a winter perfume and now I’m wondering why I ever wore it in summer LOL. Even in cool temps it’s a bit oppressive (caramel & orchid, heavy gourmand.)
I mentioned a few weeks ago that I’d bought a bottle of Chanel No 5 Parfum de Toilette online. It arrived yesterday and is indeed the real thing. Smells somewhere in between the edc and edt.
The bottle is quite old, with a propellant-based sprayer. It predates Chanel incorporating, presumably, as it just says “Chanel” and not Chanel, INC (as even my older vintage bottles do.)
Anyway, it’s a mystery (and I’m wondering if I should even wear it?) I guess I’ll try to contact Chanel at some point to ask when No 5 PdT was in production, as I was unable to find any info online.
We could use some of this coolness. I have to run an errand at lunch break and am dreading getting into my car.
Oooh, fascinating bit of Chanel detective work. Hope you find the answer.
I’m not sure how you wore Amour Nocturne in the summer, either! But I had a hard time with it anyway. I get a lot of the gunpowder which registers as metal and dill on me.
I wonder if there’s a Chanel historian/expert like Monsieur Guerlain. So odd not to find anything about that version anywhere on the web. Is it an aerosol can? That might give a clue as to the era i.e.: when propellants first came into use, and onwards. Anyway, enjoy the novelty!
Yes, I was getting lots of metal and dill, too. Taking this out of my summer rotation!! lol
Back from vacation/flu (managed to get flu on the last day of vacation!!). Still not 100% but getting there. Back to work thou, and am dealing with all types of employee attitude in Le Labo Ylang – love it on a hot day!! At least I smell good while trying to figure out how to stop one employee from behaving like he is better than the rest of the team and stop giving me attitude.
Vacation/flu is the worst. At least it was the last day of vacation!
Bummer about the flu 🙁 But you do smell beautiful today. I think the heat really brings out the best in Ylang.
Boo to the flu! 🙁
Gosh, I hope you feel better. I don’t miss managing a team.
I’m in NEST Midnight Fleur today. I have two splash bottles of this, and sadly, I think the older one is going off. I noticed this morning the juice was a bit discolored compared to the newer one. Still smells nice, but it’s missing the great blast of pineapple that I remember in the opening.
I think I’ll make it my project this summer to finish off this bottle before it becomes unwearable…
I’m in the very summery Mint 26. It’s not a Le Labo, despite the name, but a fragrance that Josh Meyer (of Imaginary Authors) created as a homage to Le Labo. When some of the Portland perfumistas met up last summer and went to his workshop, he gave us all a bottle , plus loads of IA samples. I’m finding I have a lot of summer favorites, probably a month’s worth. Looking forward to wearing them all.
My really, really old Kindle finally gave up and refused to hold a charge anymore so I bought a Paperwhite model yesterday that comes with 6 months free Kindle Unlimited access. I was happy to see that the new one weighs less than half of the old.
I wonder if it’s related to the new Saint Julep?
The mint note is probably the same chemical, but the other notes are different.
I had no idea Kindles eventually die natural deaths! My first Kindle was murdered by someone stepping on it, and my second one has been going strong for over five years.
Mine was probably ten years old, with the little keyboard on the bottom.
I had one of those; it went to a relative (who still uses it) when I got my Paperwhite. Love my Paperwhite- it goes with me everywhere.
Since it is zero risk for you, you could try putting your old Kindle in the freezer for 20 minutes and try recharging it .
SOTD is No. 19 EdP. This is some good s**t!
Indeed!
No. 19 is perfection.
Yep!
i was listening to something on the radio yesterday about the cost of flea treatment for pets. Here, packages often contain 3 dosages in pipettes, each with aprox. 400mg. This works out at around $12 000 per litre. I think a litre of Amouage would cost a mere $5000 by comparison (NZ$). Just goes to show what a bargain perfume is.
Wearing two Smell Bents from the even cheaper garage sale:
Ice station pineapple…pineapple and coconut grafted onto a pine tree would smell like this. Good for those wanting the experience of a tropical holiday at a ski field. Great winter scent. Good fun.
Dead of winter: licorice and aniseed kind of like a hurraw lip blam or mavis toothpaste opening then a bit woody and piney.
2 thumbs up for making my day brighter, and work less boring, and cheaper than treating the dogs for fleas by a doggy mile
I love your perfume vs flea treatment cost logic!
Ice station pineapple sounds right up my alley. I’ll have to give it a try someday!
Might want to get it now. IIRC it’s d/c’d thus available at the garage sale.
And it seems like fleas might be put off by Amouage, so it may be worth considering replacing a flea treatment with an Amouage treatment, just to see. Nothing like Fluffy wafting to Ubar to shake things up.
Yes, a bargain . Have you finished your work yet? Sounds like you had fun on Friday with Waterdragon
I was sorely tempted by the Smell Bent garage sale, as I’ve quite enjoyed several of the perfumes from that line. I eventually talked myself out of it, since I had just ordered some Soivohle (and I didn’t really need any of those, either…..).
I think if you crossed Demeter with Lush you would get Smell bent
Ooooooh, what did you get from Soivohle, Lisa D?
I got Purple Love Smoke, Fig Black Tea, Ginger in Love and Incense Blanc, plus a sample of Underworld. Perfume is on its way to me – a happy state surpassed only by the moment it arrives at my doorstep.
Would you mind posting your thoughts about the Incense Blanc when you try it? I’m rather curious about that.
I wore Rahele today. Definitely one of my favorites.
You smell wonderful.
You smell fantastic!
I’ve spent some quality time with Aedes Pelargonium thus far today before proceeding to reek havoc! It’s really lovely and has that sort of dry yet bright astringent quality that is so prevalent in geraniums.
I love the smell of geraniums and that dry astringent quality!
In Santal 33. Was just in the mood for it!
Are you sure you’re not in NYC?
Early morning (routine) pest inspection at my co-op where a specially trained dog sniffs the internal walls, but the cat owners among us have to restrain (read: hold) squirming kitties in the hall.
I am having a terrible allergy morning but yesterday on my walk home stopped by a department store that had Hot Cologne and Prada Femme to smell your recent recommendations—it’s too bad I didn’t have any tiny vials with me as both counters were abandoned. No one to “help” me or to beg a sample off of…
The hot cologne smelled a lot like regular Mugler Cologne to my nose, I couldn’t pick up my sought-after coffee note (though I was just smelling the paper cone) and the Prada was nice, but sweeter than expected, (again, on paper)
Today I’ll wear something from summers past, Eau Duelle, as I have to go to 2 different work-based meet & greets.
I hear you on the allergies. They have been terrible this year.
Oh no about allergies! Eau Duelle is fabulous!
That tea infuser is so cute! I get things like that and then never end up using them. I think I still have a dinosaur one I’ve never used.
I ended up forgetting perfume again today, but I was looking at my shelves this morning and not really feeling any of it anyway. But I discovered a rollerball of Valentina’s Home Brewed Sweet Dreams oil (jasmine, sandalwood, vanilla) in my purse, so I’m wearing that.
I’m liking fragrant oils lately too. I imagine you smell divine.
Love that tea diver! Made me think of Jules Verne’s fiction and then the Oliver character in the Legion television show. I adore Jermaine Clement.
Oops, Jemaine not Jermaine, autocorrect fails again ????
SoTD is Rosine Rose d’Ete. I love this in hot weather: rose water and citrus to my nose. It’s a compliment-getter too!
How is staying power on Rosine? I have been meaning to explore the line (being the rose person), but really do not know where to start – they have quite a few choices and I am overwhelmed.
Longevity is fair to average, I’d say. Their line is extensive, isn’t it? I stopped paying attention after the first dozen or so. ????
I would suggest dropping a line to Jessica, the Rose Queen here. She might have a suggestion.
Otherwise, you might try taking a look at the line on Fragrantica and read about a few that sound tempting. HTH!
SotD = lavender essential oil on wrists and bare feet, lovely and fleeting
Just ate my first garden tomato of the summer, sliced thickly and drizzled with olive oil, then sprinkled with fleur de del and herbes de Provence. I love the little kick of flavor and aroma from the lavender buds.
Ahhhh, summer.
Yum!!!
That sounds so good.
The annual review yesterday went well enough, and am continuing my Sedate Week with some Ferre.
Good for you! I need to organize my brain and get back to team Vancouver for the meetup!
I did go fot Nuit de tubéreuse today, and later started sampling: you or someone like you (ELDO) is too minty for a very long time, not really my thing, so off it goes to the purgatory, and then Serpentine (CdG), this needs a retry (somewhat bland, but maybe better with cooler temperatures?).
You smelled great today????
Well, after the unexpected success of Loewe “Esencia pour homme” yesterday, I’m starting a week of perfiumes whose reputation precedes them. First of 4 from .vero.profumo is “Mito EdP”.
Notes are magnolia, citrus notes, champaca, jasmine, galbanum, hyacinth, cypress and oakmoss.
Wow, isn’t this stuff great? I mean, I’m not sure I want a FB, but what an experience! Sharp, citrusy, ultra-vivid green. This is Spring as painted by Douanier Rousseau. It has made me feel cool on a hot Summer’s day. :^)
I love Douanier Rousseau!
Have you seen the Douanier exhibition last year in Paris?
I missed it 🙁 (when i found out I had already booked a trip to Japan, so no money left for a trip to Paris in time).
I love Mito EDP. It smells particularly great to me when I am outside in the summer.
What have you done with the real Koenigsberg!!!!??? This is getting scary – two positive reviews in one week. You’re messing with my brain.
????
He got married?
That will be it.
Very late today, in Corsica Furiosa, although it isn’t quite as hot today as yesterday so I will likely switch for dinner. Bracken Woman might be calling my name.
I haven’t smelled this one, but I’ve heard it mentioned several times.
Wearing Musc Ravageur today. I got to try the oil, shower cream, and body butter. All are really great. I think the scent translated better into the shower cream and body oil than POAL did.
That’s a lot of yum.
I’m appreciating the much lower humidity in my locale today. But wow, was there some wild weather to get through yesterday! The news mentioned possible tornadoes in both PA and DE.
SOTD = Diptyque’s Tam Dao EdT, from the sample stash. Works great in the summer. I bet this is also on some peoples’ “No-brainer” lists.
I saw a double rainbow yesterday – one was a faded whitish arch and the other one was a thick bright one!
Nice! I didn’t see any rainbows, but the sky last night right before the sun set was an incredible amethyst color.
YSL Noble Leather for a bright but cooooold winter morning. Dark leather and rich dried fruits 🙂
Sounds fabulous!
