Jean Paul Gaultier Scandal ~ new perfume

Posted by Robin on 12 June 2017 22 Comments

Jean Paul Gaultier Scandal

Jean Paul Gaultier will launch Scandal, a new fragrance for women.

Scandal promises an 'elegant aura' with the 'spirit of Pigalle'. Notes for the honey chypre include gardenia, honey and patchouli.

Jean Paul Gaultier Scandal will be available in 30, 50 and 80 ml Eau de Parfum and in matching body products.

(via incenza)

Update: Scandal was developed by perfumer Daphné Bugey. Additional notes include blood orange and grapefruit. It will debut in June in France, but will not reach the US until 2018.

The advertising focuses on the 'double life' of 'Madame La Ministre'.

Another update: perfumers Fabrice Pellegrin and Christophe Raynaud also worked on Scandal.

There goes the dream of Lanvin’s faithful Heritage collection.

Based on the notes, I would try this. I don’t mind sculpture bottles but this one looks like the Scandal is a pretty model landing head-first in the garbage can.

Why? I don’t see any evidence of a trademark.

Roja Dove also does a Scandal, so my hope is still up. I really adore Lanvin Scandal!

Honey and gardenia sounds good! Now, if they amp the animalic aspect of honey to make it Pigalle like, it might be good, otherwise it risks being just another sweet floral.

Yep. Let’s hope they put some scandal in the juice.

Is Francis Kurkdjian the perfumer, do you know? The bottle is funnier when you turn the image upside down

I don’t know, but he is the most likely suspect.

Thanks, Bear! I immediately remembered having seen that bottle on ebay but couldn’t recall the name.

FYI everyone, here’s the Fragrantica entry, which shows the bottle pretty clearly:

This is one vintage fragrance I have never tried. The way the cap reduced a woman to a pair of legs and the upside down skirt always made me uncomfortable.

I never liked the bottle for Head Over Heels, a.k.a. That Poor Lady is Drowning in a Bottle of Perfume. I don’t know why anyone would want to recreate it and make it somehow worse.

I used to have this one. My younger self liked the bottle, not so much now. It did smell pretty good though.

I WAS GOING TO WRITE THE SAME THING! I immediately thought of “Head Over Heels” by Ultima. That was an absolutely great fragrance, fruity and flirty and floral-y! Very “Pink!” This looks and sounds delicious! Can’t Wait!

When I saw this I thought how even more ridiculous it would look in the male version. Likely it would be blue, the legs wearing suit trousers a bit too tight and short, exposing socks with stripes or a silly pattern? ;-)

In addition to the Revlon legs bottle, I think there was another one, maybe in the 90’s. Gold legs sticking out of a square bottle. I thought it was maybe Vicky Tiel, but Google cannot confirm. Anyone else remember this???
