Hey, it's Almost-Friday! Plus, Frank Lloyd Wright's birthday and World Oceans Day. What fragrance are you wearing?
I'm doing 'unruly, intense' fruit with Byredo Pulp.
Reminder: 6/9 will be Fruity Friday! (A repeat from 2014.) Wear something fruity. Doesn't have to be a fruity floral, just something with plenty of fruit.
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2017, where I'll try to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.
Note: the Froot Loops boxers are apparently sold out at Amazon, but you can still find the same style in Frosted Flakes, Flamingo, Rice Krispies, Donut, and plenty more, around $10-12 a pair.
SOTD- Escada Limited Edition 1998 Sunny Frutti
Top notes- banana, pineapple, lemon, pear, currant, nutmeg
Mid notes- freesia, osmanthus, lily-of-the-valley, jasmine, lady-rose, cyclamen, peach orris root
Base notes- moss, cedar, vanilla, musk
And lavish sprays of Nicolai L’Eau a la Folie which has mango, papaya and peach…this one is going to be my summer go to fragrance!
and last night I wore Honeysuckle Hummingbird for the strawberry note…so good
I am so envious of all the Escada summer scents you have. So much fun !!!
it’s been a fun walk down memory lane this week!
Joining you in L’Eau à la Folie, one of my fruity favorites!
I had never heard of it but I am loving it!
Folie is very lovely. It reminds me a lot of her earlier fruity Eaux, Exotique and Turquoise.
I’m bummed I passed on a bottle of Escada Ibiza Hippie on eBay. I really liked that one when it came out. Not even sure I’d still like it but the memory jog would’ve been fun. So hard to find now.
Keep looking…you never know as it might pop up!
It sounds soo pretty. Another line to check out, even though they aren’t what they were.
True, but there may be a few current ones that you might like.
I keep forgetting my Nicolaï eaux this week. Folie is gorgeous.
I agree!
Hi Chocolate: I sent you some photos of my Escadas. Did you see them?
Celestia
They are fabulous! Thank you for sharing
Wearing Sylvaine Delacourte Dovana with Mandarin orange in the notes.
I really like this entire line – not complex or OMG noteworthy, but rather, simply pretty fragrances which are easy to wear, and make me happy.
I should try these. Most days these I just want easy pretty.
She has an excellent sample program. All 4 scent for 4 Euros + free shipping.
I too am curious about this line. But I do have an annoying tick whenever I see the brand. The first thing that goes through my mind every time I see Sylvaine Delacourte is “Fleur!” Sigh.
Potterheads unite
????!!
Those were supposed to look like Potter glasses. Oh well. You get the idea.
Wearing Guerlain AA Pamplelune, drinking my second cup of coffee with orange peel and happy because the sun if finally out.
Yum to the coffee and the perfume. I’m glad you get to see the sun!
And later I will try the cold brew coffee and orange slices you mentioned yesterday
Coffee with orange peel sounds divine, I will try it!
Try also with ginger slices. It is perfect!
These ideas sound so good
Joining you in Pamplelune. Delicious!
Looooooooove the boxers!
And I don’t have to confess them to Donatella
SOTD is Dame Musk oil
You smell amazing. I love this scent
Ooh, lovely!
I haven’t tried the oil version, but I absolutely adore the cologne. It is right up there with Mitsouko and Dzongkha in my top five.
That’s some company!
It is true, you can spend all your dollars on boxers and Donatella will not care.
I am seconding or “fourth-ing” everyone’s positive comments…this one is amazing! It also layers really nice with his other scents or any scents for that matter!
SOTD Ava Luxe Bohemian Rose from the generosity of CobraRose. I’ve always wanted to try Ava Luxe so was happy to see these posted in the freebie meet. This one is quite pretty: deep rose, a little powdery, with a resinous dry down of sorts. Very natural smelling. Maybe too heavy for warm weather so wanted to get it in before the upcoming heat wave.
I have a long standing, deep love for Ava Luxe No. 23, which is unfortunately discontinued. I have liked many others from this line – they are good quality, and thoughtfully made. I am sad that I can’t get No. 23 anymore, though, and am now spritzing from my small bottle in short, miserly bursts.
Stinks when they discontinue your favorite.
Ava Luxe doesn’t get nearly enough attention. The Vanilla Musk is an almost perfect dupe for Tihota, and the Honey is a beautiful, rich concoction. The Moroccan Mint Tea is fantastic in the summer
I’m not a huge vanilla lover, especially as a central note (so not quite sure I love Love’s True Bluish Light, also included and the one I was most curious about). I do want to try her other musks, though. They all seem like high quality materials, though. Even the Mango which I didn’t like. The Olibanum was the 4th and that one smells really natural and meditative.
Ooh, thanks for the hot tip on Vanilla Musk, a friend is looking for a cheaper version of Tihota!
Sucraebeille makes a Tihota dupe. I’ve tried her Lush dupes and they’re very good. And she’s much less expensive than Ava Luxe so a blind buy isn’t a big investment.
wearing vintage Jean Patou Colony, so beautiful !
Gorgeous!
L’Artisan for me again today – Premier Figuier Extreme.
SOTD Chanel No 5 l’Eau
Happy 150th to Frank Lloyd Wright
You’re smelling classy.????
Thank you
I am glad it does, I have been in a bit of a perfume rut and No 5 l’Eau has been my default ‘easy grab’ these couple weeks.
You smell wonderful.
Wearing the Zesty version of Eau de Cartier, which has completely banished the rain outside.
Yes it has!
All over the scent spectrum with a spritz of OJ Frangipani Absolute from a decant – I’m trying to use them before they evaporate. Yesterday my Puredistance M decant arrived – didn’t wash off the OJ just sprayed on the M.
You smell great. M is such an engaging scent. The combination sounds pretty gorgeous.
Thank you! I need to look up all of the notes from both and see what’s going on!????
You smell beautiful! The Fragipani part, anyway. I haven’t smelled M.
The OJ is winning this battle of the perfumes, but I think I’m having a reaction. I ended up taking a nap, and I really didn’t want to. It’s odd, and only one other perfume has made me sleepy; a decant of No 1 Clive Christian. Either it’s just a weird coincidence, or there’s a similar note in each that I react to. Has this happened to anyone else with perfume?
Huh. I’ve never had a response like that to perfume. I wish I did since I tend to have sleep issues.
It’s my turn to wear Rubj (EdP) today! It’s an interesting scent, but so far I have not been able to detect anything fruity in it.
It smells of salty neroli and orange blossom to me, not unlike Lush Big. On the other hand, I don’t think I know how passionfruit smells…
Indult Manakara- luscious litchi and rose.
I’ve missed NST for a few weeks- hope everyone is doing well on this gorgeous sunny day.
I like Manakara — it reminds me of India!
Welcome back, and you smell lovely!
Thank you
.
I’m wearing Fraîche Passiflore, which is very fruity and great fun. Still trying to make up my mind about tomorrow.
Hello over there! I have an Amouage Bracken question, please. Did you try the woman version? Some people mention the chamomile note. Did that compete with the fern? I imagine it woukd be nicely blended, though.
I can’t decide wheter to try Bracken man or Bracken woman. The wise person would try samples of both.
I’ve only tried the Woman, and I can’t remember any chamomile in it. I tend not to like the Men’s versions of the Amouages as much as the Women’s so I sort of gave up trying both a while ago.
It’s been a while since I tried it, but I remember it as sort of abstract greenery, and strong, and a tad too linear for my tastes. But the only real answer is that you should maybe try both. Just wait till your “Pantone” cold gets better, you might not want to creat the wrong scent association. I actually like what I’m wearing today much more than Bracken. True it’s not a grand parfum, but it’s fun, and very fruity.
Thank you. I will read up about Fraiche Passiflore as that sounds great. I like wearing summery, golden scents in winter – perfumes that suggest sunshine on a cold day.
I love FLW’s architecture. And those boxers are hilarious.
Feeling fruity in HdP 1969. Wanted to wear Molinard Musc et Fruits but couldn’t find it, must be at my other house.
The Frosted Flakes boxers are really even funnier.
How is Montreal? Hope you are having a good summer
It has been cool and rainy, but I think this week things are turning the corner. We will be in the high 20’s or low 30’s with sunshine, yay! You know things are looking up when the public swimming pool has been cleaned and re-filled. Summer is on its way!
Sounds good to me! In winter I often go to my brother’s house in Central Otago where the dams freeze up. We sometimes go out at night and make big burning torches out of sticks and brush and then skate across the ice in the pitch dark , listening as the ice makes that terrific hollow whooop whoop noise and cracking sounds. Just magic.
House twins!
Good morning, I’m cheap and cheerful in Demeter Bubblegum. I got a tester with the idea that after one spray I would pass it on to my teenage niece, but she will not be inheriting this little beauty! It starts out straight up pink Bazooka, then some cinnamon emerges and even a little incense-y note. I love it.
Nice! I need to try that.
That actually sounds good.
I started the day in Angeliques sous la Pluie, and as always when I spray from my decant I thought “Mmmmm. Why don’t I have a full bottle of this?” An hour later, I remember why – it’s already gone. If I win the lottery I’ll buy a big bottle just for that glorious hour.
After a shower, will probably wear Philosykos. The sun is out after a week of rain, and Philosykos is calling my name. First fruit of the week!
I love Frank Lloyd Wright’s work – I lived in the midwest for 10 years so I was lucky to be able to see a lot of his work. But my favorite is in Arizona – Taliesin West.
A FB of Philosykos is on the way to me! I really love it. Enabler pin to Elizabeth!
YES!!!
speaking of, did you buy the EDT or the EDP?
Do you prefer one over the other? I am recently in love with it as well. Unsure which sample made its way to me so not sure which version I’ve been wearing.
I own the EDT, as I didn’t even know the EDP existed, but I do own EDP as well in several travel vials. I mainly wear the EDT as it’s more accessible, and I haven’t done a side by side. I’ve heard people say the lasting power on the EDP is much better, but I haven’t really found that lasting power was a big issue for me in the EDT. Here is what Victoria from Bois de Jasmin has to say…”Encouraged by my success with L’Ombre Dans L’Eau, I tried the EDP versions of Philosykos and Do Son. I found the EDTs interesting, but too linear and one-dimensional. Unlike with L’Ombre Dans L’Eau, these EDP concentrations change the accents, but don’t add more lines to the story. Do Son feels creamier and warmer, an etude of white petals soaked in coconut milk. Philosykos, on other hand, starts out green and fresh, only to become sappy and woody. If you love the fig leaf coyness of the EDT, you’ll find the EDP similarly charming. However, I miss the transparency and crystalline freshness in the new take. As I wear the EDP, I realize that those were the traits that made Philosykos appealing.”
I bought the EdT. It is so green and refreshing, that I knew I needed it for hot summer days. I did not think twice about it. Thank you!
SOTD is Tom Ford “Plum Japonais”.
Notes are plum, saffron, cinnamon, immortelle, plum blossom, camellia, oud, amber, benzoin, fir and vanilla.
I prefer this one to any of the neon-coloured shockers I’ve tried this week. However, it either has no lasting power or else I quickly become anosmic to it after spraying. If I sniff my wrists, it’s beautiful, but I am not the kind of guy who wants to go around sniffing his wrists all day. My perfumes need to work for their living, dammit! :^D
Oh, you smell wonderful!
Absolutely, but I look very strange huffing my wrist… ;^D
Spritz or dab somewhere closer to your nose!
Hand to chin, like you’re deeply pondering something, then sneak in a sniff
Having to hold my wrist to my nose is probably my number 1 perfume peeve. Nothing makes me feel more cheated. You really need a stronger perfume for the elections
Do you spray your chest? That usually helps.
When I do this, I usually find myself sticking my nose down my cleavage instead. This is inarguably worse than huffing my wrists.
OMG, I do that, too – I unthinkingly pull my shirt out and bend my head down, covering my nose with my shirt, and then take a deep sniff. And look ridiculous.
Did you approve their expense reports!
Wearing PHI Une Rose de Kandahar, which has apricot, so I’m sorta on theme for today. I don’t wear this much (I should!), but every time I do, I’m blown away all over again
Phi! ???? You smell fab!
Just tried this by using the entire Luckyscent sample the other day in one go. I really enjoyed it more than when I first tried it. I really wish I had some.
You smell great. I love PHI.
Non-fruity again today in my dear old friend, vintage Tabac Blond EDT. The sprayer on my decant is beginning to fail, and the level of juice is getting low, so soon it will run out and I will be very sad … but thanks to a kind NSTer (or two), I have some of the extrait to see me through my mourning period. And then again, there’s always Vol de Nuit extrait – my newest love.
Ooooooh, Tabac Blond is glorious stuff.
No fruit today, just nuts. The almond note of Lea.
Happy Birthday FLW. We have many wonderful homes and buildings here in Wisconsin designed by him including the beautiful Monona Terrace.
https://s.yimg.com/lo/api/res/1.2/AhKKeukbbx1lDMdK0zhSvw–/YXBwaWQ9eWlzZWFyY2g7Zmk9Zml0O2dlPTAwNjYwMDtncz0wMEEzMDA7aD00MDA7dz01MzM-/http://wwcdn.weddingwire.com/vendor/335001_340000/336934/thumbnails/800x800_1281380305558-MononaTerraceLakeFront.jpg.cf.jpg
Oh gosh, sorry for that long link. I’m on my phone today.☺️
Hey, it works!
Love Monona Terrace! Madison is such a cool city. My uncle has a big, old house there with guest bedrooms and I visited for several summers in a row as a high schooler and college student.
I didn’t see this one but I went on FLW tour in Minneapolis in 2006 or so.
Encre noire.
I should wear this more often!
What a great scent.
Very busy this week, really looking forward to the weekend…
EN is one of my favorite vetivers!
I have a lot of favourite vetivers haha I just love vetiver, I guess
The weird thing is, Guerlain Vetiver does not work for me. Its a beauty. A classic. I love it on others, but when I wear it myself… its just ‘not me’
Echo this – I like Encre Noire as well. I don’t wear it on skin very much, but it stays in my closet so that I can liberally use it as a home spray.
It’s a scent that makes feel grounded, but also alert and erhm whats the word…. vivid (lively).
Agreed – it is both grounding and energizing.
Adorable boxers! And who doesn’t love fruit loops!
SOTD: Rose Rebelle Respawn, and lots of it! I find if I do 5 full sprays it lasts throughout the day and is a gorgeous dusty, cocoa rose.
Need to do some searching for a fruity scent to wear tomorrow. Still an area of my collection that’s lacking.
Me, or Apple Jacks!
But I made Mom buy them because I wanted the “prize inside “.
Wise woman that she was, she made me finish both boxes.
One and done, for both.
And don’t get me started about the squeaky marshmallows in Lucky Charms!
LOLOLOL.
YMMV
One of my occasional treats is a big ol’ bowl of Lucky Charms! Mmmmmmmmmmmmmm. So bad for me, but so dadgum delicious!
Love those too, although I was guilty of picking extra marshmallows out of the box to put in my bowl.
I was the kid that ate all the marshmallows out of the box of cereal so my siblings only had the boring cereal left.
That stuff was crap!
Ha! I guess you have heard about the “limited edition” of Lucky Charms that is all marshmallows this summer…
No, I didn’t but that squeaking sound they made when you chewed them really annoyed me when I was a child. LOL
Bear, I know exactly what you’re talking about and completely agree. That sound made me crazy too! I liked my marshmallows in milk, get them a little soft.
A cold cereal that is labeled “limited edition”?? Okay, somebody just jumped a shark.
SOTD is Vero Perfumo Naja from my sample. After Kevin’s review I felt compelled to try it even though I was afraid it might be another Unattainable Love like Onda. Happy to say, it’s not love! Like, yes. Plus it has a supposed melon note, so I’m on theme for once.
Quite rainy and cool here today, and Naja works nicely with the current atmospheric conditions????
This one was instant love for me. I am waiting with baited breath for the release
It’s quite unusual, isn’t it? I really like it because it’s one of those scents that takes you on a journey. Congrats on your upcoming full bottle purchase????
Oh lord, had to come back and update this comment. This perfume is just getting better and better as the day goes on. I can see why you’re anxiously awaiting release!
I loved Onda as well, but strangely could not wear it. Sounds completely weird, but it was too much of an olfactory experience for me to wear comfortably. I would take off the cap and sniff it, and be amazed at the smell, but couldn’t bring myself to spray it on. It is undoubtedly beautiful, but it also has a quality of, I dunno, “power” that I didn’t feel right having on my skin. Wonder Woman could wear it, I bet. Hey! Maybe you’re related!
Ha! No relation to WW except in my imagination. Certainly agree Onda is not an everyday perfume, which is one of the reasons I haven’t bought a FB (plus, the price!????). As much as I love the VdE, it just wouldn’t be good value for money, at least for me. However, another decant is a distinct possibility!
Thanks for the comments on Naja, sounds great!
Are you planning on sampling? Its so unique! I can only imagine how much better the effect if sprayed…????
With the review of Naja yesterday and mention yesterday (?) of Onda, I headed to Luckyscent to get some samples. I got an Onda sample and hopefully they’ll have more Naja samples in stock. I’m intrigued with both of these perfumes. I don’t think I have tried anything from this line.
Flopper, I hope you enjoy them. It’s a bit confusing as Onda (as well as most of her other scents) comes in a variety of concentrations- edp, VdE, and extrait. I haven’t tested all of them but I can say Onda in the edp and VdE are completely different animals. The VdE is heartbreakingly beautiful (to me, anyway. Some are not fans) but the edp is just nice to my nose. YMMV ????
Yes, as soon as Luckyscent offers samples I will order!
A bit of a replay from yesterday, wearing Caligna on the left and SL Daim Blond on the right. Also a bit of Boy on the back of my hand.
Waffling on what might be a like and what might be a love. Daim Blond might only work in ~70 degree weather or cooler, and we don’t get a lot of that here…
Nothing worth mentioning — two samples that I’ve already scrubbed off to the best of my ability and a purse without any emergency perfume that I want to wear (I cleaned it out a couple of days ago while looking for a lost wallet).
I love the “emergency perfume” phrase. I have various samples in my desk drawer for moments lke that ha!
I’m wearing Un Jardin Sur le Nil, for the green mango note.
UJSLN is such a cheery summery fragrance.
You smell great! I dont get a lot of fruit though, and thats probably why I like it.
I struggle with fruit notes most of the time, especially everything-berry/-currant and apple.
I know what you mean. I dislike most fig, apple, or melon notes.
Very good morning, NST. It’s raining today in Columbia Gorge, but it doesn’t seem to matter at all, because I have very hot tea and the fresh lemony zing of Chanel Eau de Cologne to push me into our planned activities. Actually, even if a proper storm came up, I wouldn’t care. I can’t remember the last time I felt so unpressured. I just wish I had more perfume choices with, but Sunday will cure that. Wonderful things await me in Portland.
We are getting good reports of Dakkie. He has now shown his furry underside to the cat sitter and taught her how to do a two-handed tummy rub, and he is eating well, so the home front is holding up. Be well, all.
So glad Dakkie is doing fine. Keep enjoying your trip. You smell really good!
I am SO glad you are enjoying yourself and feeling relaxed!
Sunday!
I’m glad Dakkie is at ease with his sitter.
Exposing the tender underbelly is a sure sign of an at ease cat.
Enjoy the Eau de Cologne before it disappears…that one goes so quickly on me.
Any chipmunks yet? Hope you are keeping a journal.
Squirrels, lots and lots of squirrels! I know Americans (and Europeans too, most likelyh think they are noxious pests, but right now, we’re in withdrawal from an overload of cuteness: there were teeny, teeny baby squirrels everywhere we went today, with their beady little eyes and assertive tails. Americans may deplore: these Kiwis adore.
Nice to hear that Dakkie-cat is happy with his cat-sitter.
SOTD for our first super sunny day in a few weeks is one of my favorites and also a nod to some berry fruit: Cartier So Pretty edp. I may have to wear this tomorrow as well!
Natori and finally the sun!
Yay for sun!
Eau de Merveilles today. Feeling a bit nautical in a striped shirt and cuffed navy trousers.
I bet you look great
Ooooh, a perfect pairing. I love EdM as much as I adore a striped top.
SOTD is Jardin du Poete by Eau D`Italie. It came in my sample fling pack from Luckyscent. So far I like it a lot. The grapefruit/basil combination is bracing. I’m wondering how it will last. This one might be better if sprayed rather than dabbed.
C’mon Mother Nature!

I am summer ready!
Early morning workout.
Korres Cassis Fig shower.
Oatmeal with peanut butter.
Super short haircut, eighth inch sides and back, three inches top.
Hipster!
LOL
ZZTop beard, cause I’m just lookin’ for some Tush.
Hipster!
Davidoff Good Life.
Yes it is.
Fig leaf, black currants, geranium, violets, bergamot, sandalwood.
Ma !!! Do I hafta go to school/work today? !?
Yes son, you do. LOL
Triple strength coffee.
Carpe Diem. Peace.
Pour me a cup of that coffee, Bear! It must be magical!
LOLOLOL

Yes it is.
And I like your Mountain Dew! !!
(But I prefer the Diet Mountain Dew, really! )
Rock that Georgia heat, Jada !
Good Life!!! I remember that one! I had the women’s version and drained that full bottle lickety split! I love that you are always wearing these forgotten beauties…..
How is the Korres, btw? they also do EDTs that sell for a song at Sephora but my store does not carry them so I can’t test..wondered if the fragrances are any good. (not that I need any more juice at the moment with my 400+ samples!)
The formulation is great, and it smells authentically of black currants/cassis and green figs. I bought it at Marshall’s , 4.99? 5.99?
Very nice.
And I have the Woman Good Life too (don’t H8! !!!
LOL) .
It is between that and Escada Tropical Punch for tomorrow!
Fabulous, sweetie !!!!
This is about the shower gel.
I have one EDT, can’t remember which, and the quality was low.
oh please wear the Escada if you can find it!!!! We will be house twins!!!!!
You lost me at oatmeal with peanut butter. Does that mean porridge with a dollop of peanut butter in it? It’s too early in the morning to try and figure out how that works but I think Goldilocks would be turning in her grave.
As per the American nutrition labels (may be different in NZ), two servings of oatmeal (1 cup before preparation) , with two servings of peanut butter (4 tablespoons) .
I measure the oatmeal, heaping tablespoons, don’t measure the peanut butter.
Love it, love it, LOVE it! !
High carbs, high protein.
LOL.
Most of my friends think I’m crazy, you can join them.
I don’t mind swimming against the tide.
Cheers Mate! !!
Wow. I thought I’d heard it all but this takes things to a whole new level. Sounds like you’ve discovered the secret to eternal youth. Have a happy nutty day!!
I for one don’t think you are crazy..I love that combo too and all nut and nut butters help to keep the weight on me so I eat them a lot….I also like peanut butter in plain Greek yogurt
Sounds good !!!
I may try this tomorrow! I like peanut butter in a lot of things.
I should have said “with”…don’t want people to think I try to get it out of those Kong or whatchamacallit thingies that you give to dogs to occupy them.
I love peanut butter with oatmeal! I measure the oatmeal, eyeball the water, a splash of milk, add one heaping tablespoon of peanut butter, a banana and some chocolate. I microwave the whole thing on high for 3 minutes on the highest power, stir, put it back in for 6 minutes at 50% power. Perfect every time and only 1 bowl to wash!
This!
I missed that it was your inquiry…I commented to Bear’s recipe
Great recipe hajusuuri !

High carb, high protein, lots of flavoring, filling, and will provide long-lasting energy.
Not much more to ask for.
In Arielle Shoshana. A juicy burst of passion fruit, grapefruit, rhubarb, and saffron!
You smell *fantastic*! That is definitely going to be my scent tomorrow!
It sounds so wonderful! I’m going to have to get my hands on some!
oh, yay, for Ari! I ordered a sample and can hardly wait to sniff.
That sounds amazing! I will have to put that on my “to try” list.
Follow-up: Walking down the street to an appointment about 45 minutes ago, a woman behind me asked, “Are you wearing perfume?” and then, “You smell amazing.”
That’s simply marvelous!
Good morning Y’all!
Wearing Calvin Klein Truth……
Tis strange — but true; for truth is always strange;
Stranger than fiction.
Indeed!!!
hee-hee, I lol’d at those boxers.
SotD = Infusion d’Iris edt, day 5. Still enjoying loyalty to this lovely iris scent. I added a dab of Eau des Merveilles for World Oceans Day. Spent yesterday evening with Mon Precieux Nectar. My devotion to Id’I is wavering.
Debating Un Jardin sur le Nil or Insolence EdT for Frooty Friday. Green mango or pink raspberry? Both have a bit of iris . . . what to do . . .
does it matter? . . . maybe . . .
a thought for today:
http://kottke.org/17/05/the-story-of-the-chinese-farmer
Enjoyed the link! It’s such a “human” thing to try to define objective universal changes as “good” or “bad.” Things happen, and as the happenings happen, observe them, and let them go. Leave good and bad alone! If that makes sense…????
Yes, that makes good sense to me.
Glad you enjoyed the link.
With June Gloom in full force, I just can’t bring myself to wear fruity perfumes this week. FM Une Rose today. I love Frank Lloyd Wright. Anyone who is interested and hasn’t been should check out his home and studio in Oak Park, IL. Several of his designs in the neighborhoods there too.
No perfume yet today. I was out doing some much neglected yardwork, so I am currently wearing Eau de Sueur
Post-shower, I think I will break out one of my vintage perfume nips. I am taking a week of stay-at-home vacation this week and using it to catch up on stuff.
I really need a week of stay-at-home vacation soon. I have so many things to do that I have been postponing. Enjoy your vacation!
Layering today in SJP Stash and Covet.
Thank goodness we’ve made it to Thursday, right?
I bet you smell great! And yes, thank goodness it’s Thursday already.
Thanks, KellyC!
SJP really does make some nice fragrances. She and JLo are the only “celebrity fragrances” that I really like.
I take that back….I like “Queen” from Queen Latifah also.
I am supposed to have minis of Queen and Pharrell Williams Girl arriving at my house today! Finally going to try those celeb scents that people seem to agree are okay
I like Queen, too — smells so cheerful and upbeat to me!
In Orange Sanguine today. Again a citrus, but I have to make do with what I have!
I was a bad girl yesterday and ordered some samples- some Guerlains I have not sniffed. Vol de Nuit, Chamade, Apres l’Ondee, and Jicky. Been wanting to smell them for reference purposes if no other reason. Can’t wait until they arrive.
Nice on the OS…I love that one in the summer!
Orange Sanguine is one of my faves! Good choice!
I hope you enjoy your trove of Guerlains!
Orange Sanguine is really good stuff. Looking forward to putting it in rotation when summer weather gets to where I am, and decides to stay for a while.
It’s so good to be bad sometimes.
In preparation for tomorrow’s challenge, I am bathed in Theorema.
yum, Theorema is delicious.
You smell lovely!
My sense of smell is finally returning so today I’m in an old BPAL limited edition “He Too With Death Shall Dwell.” It’s a nice powdery, ambery pomegranate. Good for a cool, rainy day.
Yay for feeling better and being able to smell!
Wearing Blackberry & Bay by JM today.
Come to think of it, almost all of the JM fragrances I have are either fruity-floral scents or just plain fruity. I guess that’s my thing!
Showered with a Mediterranean Fig shower cream. Now I’ve applied Viva La Juicy…no idea when/how I acquired this little bottle that’s been hiding in the back of my cabinet. The overwhelming sweetness seems to be calming down….
I had to put away the flowing rayon pants and short-sleeved tops because it’s showery and cool today in Portland. Back in jeans and a sweater for a Costco run and maybe a stop at TJMaxx for a new swimsuit, although I think the choices might be few by now. I just need something to wear for laps in the pool. SOTD is Ashoka. I finished off a decant but still have the little bottle from the discovery set I split two years ago.
I’ve been reading about Ashoka. Another glory for me to try at Fumerie., I hope. I’m so looking forward to meeting you and Miss Kitty.
We’re currently back at the hotel, because the dear man dropped an entire cup of coffee on me (I have no idea how he managed it, but he was extremely efficient in going Ng maximum coverage) and we decided that doing a load of laundry had moved from “quite a good idea sometime soon” to “urgent: act now”. Even relaxing stretched out on the bed is kinda nice–it reminds me that this is a HOLIDAY and we’re in charge of it.
One of the perks of holidays is relaxing on a hotel bed…
Yikes, I hope it was not hot hot coffee!
You know, Old Navy has some simple 1 peice swimsuits.
My Costco has one piece bathing suits right now.
Felt like a little musk today. In TM Over the Musk.
Courtesy of the very generous CobraRose, I am sampling a few FM fragrances today…
La Perfume de Therese, Angéliques Sous La Pluie, En Passant and Iris Poudre…I think I may have sniffed LPdT a lifetime ago (or so
) . FM stuff, to my knowledge at least, was never sniffable in sunny San Diego. No Barneys. No niche perfume store. I do have a couple of mini-sprays of more recent stuff like Eau de Magnolia and PoaL but the older ones from this line have eluded me somewhat.
All are well done and Iris Poudre is the winner of this particular bunch and I may seek out more of this beauty.
Also thanks for all the interview well wishes yesterday.
The interview was with what would be my manager, my manager’s boss (a VP) and another director for the program. I believe it went well and seemed to be mostly a personality fit type interview.
Interviewing is so tough because you don’t really know they backstory of the group/office, the politics, the drama
etc. So you try to answer and respond in appropriate and professional ways based on the information and data provided. A bit like first dates I suppose too but more intimidating because of the uneven team numbers and lack of alcohol.
And I am always trying to figure things out/extrapolate data from the limited data they choose to present. I also try to figure out the dynamics of the people I get to observe but sadly won’t know if my observations are correct unless they offer me the position.
It is kind of exhausting. Mentally, emotionally and certainly for one’s ego. Also like dating.
I can certainly understand the fatigue! This is one of the things I struggle with too, bouncing around shift to shift, and always working with “strangers.” Trying to find your place in the flow can be exhausting. So happy your interview went well, and hoping things turn out just the way you want them too! ????
It’s Friday morning and the stars are shining brightly ( sunrise at 8.15 am). I wish I had Calyx for my fruity scent. This was one of my office scents twenty five years ago and I still think of it as a bright yellow burst of passion fruit, unusual in that it married the hedonistic with the preppy. Haven’t tried any reformulations. I’m really curious about Ari’s passionfruit perfume.
Still sniffing cigarette smoke – hope it’s not permanent, but the last gasp of the flu. My grandfather was a chain smoker, nicotine stained finger tips, a damp house that had a damp newspaper – cat pee – ashtray smell. The most eccentric person I ever knew.
I am saving my tiny sample of vintage Prescriptives Calyx for “summer scents” week…like you I wore it eons ago..every summer from 86-95…drained a bottle every summer…I agree, there is NOTHING like it.
I loved the feel and texture of the glass bottle, too.
Yes!!!!
Hermes Jardin Sur le Nil
Getting comfortable with a small range of under the radar office scents…1 spray under shirt only…
It’s something!
I wouldn’t mind sharing my office with someone who smells of Jardin Sur le Nil, even if they were spraying heavily.
Let’s do this!
Passionfruit and Cartier Zeste de Soleil. I went with it mostly because I wanted to participate in the project but it actually works really well!
I wonder if there will be a veggie week as well. Veggies, as it seems, would align better with my perfume choices.
Oh that is an interesting concept! We should do a veggies week! Are there enough perfumes though? off to research
What did you come up with? I am thinking of rhubarb, carrots, peppers, celery, cucumber, there were even brussels sprouts in some smell bent fragrance …
Don’t forget tomato vine!
Mushrooms and truffles, pumpkin, pickles…
Sweet peas! according to fragrantica there are a few perfumes with that note…was also thinking pumpkins and olives but then wasn’t sure of their classification.
I was in the mood for a bit of candied pineapple today, so SOTD = HdP 1804, George Sand. I have at least 3 other perfumes with pineapple in them, either as bottles or samples, so it’s something I like. Maybe I can find some different fruit for tomorrow?
I got my fruit on with Omnia Paraiba.
SOTD: Tom Ford’s Tobacco Vanille – the dried fruit from this rum-soaked xmas pudding counts right?
Super cold weather is driving me to seek out perfume-carbs
SOTD is Salamanca, Olympic Orchids!
I fell in love w/ the name from a famous childrens book and bought a small spray decant which is so dark & mysterious looking! It is my first trial and Wow! It is powerful- it reminds me of Tomato Leather by cognoscenti- a ripe juicy leather! Quite fun to weat & amazing sillage. I am having fun- with only 2 spritzes!! I smell like a warm bail of hay!! I miss my mare.
Very late to the party!
SOTD = Guerlain Neroli Outrenoir
One of my favorite Guerlains (hmmm, I seem to like a lot of Guerlains!). Citrus is fruit and this one has it in spades: tangerine! Lemon! Grapefruit! It is heavy on the tea and also what smells like tobacco (which Fragrantica identified as smoke). Easy to wear, office friendly, versatile – exactly the same qualities I attributed to Mon Precieux Nectar yesterday.
Not too late! Neroli Outrenoir is fantastic, my second loved Guerlain after Angelique Noire.
Hermes Eau de Rhubarb Ecarlate. Hmmmmm… so good! It is very soft though, if it had more heft it would be perfect.
SOTD is decidedly un-fruity (Terre d’Hermes) but I had to chime in because those boxers are HILARIOUS!
