It's Monday, again, but also Memorial Day, and World Digestive Health Day to boot. What fragrance are you wearing?
I'm in Comme des Garçons + Pharrell Williams Girl, by perfumer Antoine Lie.
Reminder: 6/2 will be Antoine Friday...wear a fragrance by perfumer Antoine Lie or Antoine Maisondieu, if you have one.
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2017, where I'll try to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.
Note: the Comme des Garçons Beatles T-shirts are available at the Dover Street Market in London.
Hi all! Hot Monday here with 28*C here today. I felt like wearing some lavender on this hot day, so I’m wearing Rania J. Lavande 44. It bloomed beautifully in this warmth.
Hot weather can really bring out the very best in a fragrance. 🙂
Yes, hot weather especially brings wealth out of all big florals 😀
It’s a cool Fall day here: 28 C!!
Our community really is diverse, and this is so lovely. Wishing you a beautiful and fragrant week, Lucas!
It’s 30C here in Berlin today and I am wearing ‘Vert d’Encens’ by Tom Ford (for the first time as I just got it) – and the scent is just unfolding in the most stunning way possible. So beautiful – it brings me pure joy. Could very well turn into a favourite of mine.
I felt that way about his new Vert de Bois. This green series is really special.
Vert d’Encens and Vert de Bois are my favorites in that series. Great scents.
Happy Memorial day!. In Dior J’Adore. So happy that I just finished this FB that was refusing to go no matter how much I sprayed on it. I am going again thru full bottles that have no much left. At home today resting and resting after the crazy but fun Saturday and Sunday I had with a friend visiting New York. She went into the wildest perfume shopping I have ever seen in such a short period of time. She ended up with a total of 14 FB from Hermes, Jo Malone, Bottega Veneta, Penhaligon, The Different Company and Chanel. It was not easy to resist the temptation of not buying anything for myself, but thanks God I survived. Now Bear’s triple strenght coffee, reading, and watching some TV for a full recovery. So greatful she is gone, I told her 😀 and that the week is going to be short!
14 at full price? Wait till she discovers the discounters and ebay!
Yes, full price….I told her about discounters and ebay, but I think it is the excitement to go out, trying on different things and deciding on the spot what she likes that gives her lots of enjoyment. She sometimes does that when she goes on vacation to big cities.
She must have spent a fortune!
Speed shopping- As exhausting as speed dating. Kudos to you for your superb restraint! ????
Thank you, it was not easy, but I am happy with the results.
At least you don’t have an extra $1,500 in credit card debt! And I am sure you still smell great with what you already have!
J’adore J’adore. Wow sounds like an amazing shopping trip! Nerves of steel to not buy something in the midst of all of that. Good for you.
My husband nicely and gently reminded me of our debts. He said I do better when I do shopping by mysekf. And paying full prices….
Holy smokes. That’s my entire collection in one day! How did she manage to carry everything?
I can see why you need today to recover!
She came with her husband and son, so I guess they distributed those bottles in their lugages. Her husband and son spent time with my husband, not shopping, but visiting some places of interest and sharing with friends in common.
Wow! and a triple wow to you for resisting a purchase yourself!
Saving for my birthday and Christmas present to myself 😉
You were so good. I am in awe of your willpower and your stay positive attitude. She is lucky to have such a generous-spirited friend.
I enjoyed her company and the adventure. Not having regrets for unnecessary spending is rewarding 🙂
14 bottles!!?! That’s quite a feat. I would have a hard time resisting. And congrats on finishing a bottle. I have yet to achieve that accomplishment, even with most of my decants.
She considers perfumes as a therapy. She is a heart surgeon and never wears perfume in her office or the hospital, but as soon as she gets home, after a busy, stressful day, the first thing she does is taking a shower and spraying perfume with real abandonment. According to her perfumes help her relax and feel peaceful. It is a daily routine. However, when she goes out on her free time, she does not wear more than 2 sprays. She likes to feel comfortable and not to disturb people around her.
Wow! That’s some haul. Hopefully some samples were thrown in among those purchases and you were gifted a few 😉
Yes, I got samples of TDC Osmanthus and Tokyo Bloom, Chanel No.5 L’Eau, Sycomore and Gardenia, Jo Malone Mimosa and Cardamom and Velvet Rose and Oud, Hermes Hiris. Caleche and Galop. Galop was my toughest test, since I almost bough a fb (sigh!) 😀
You did well too!
14 bottles in one day! Hey, life is short . . .
:D, :D, I wish I could enjoy it the same way!
I’m generally a bit frugal, but I bought FOUR pairs of shoes this spring – hearing about other people’s splurges makes me feel better!
14 bottles in one weekend? Wow, respect.
Most purchases I make are based on weeks (sometimes months) of ‘research’: sample ordering, trying/(re)sampling and comparing et cetera.
Once in a while a love at first sight pops up and an immediate buy follows. But 14 in a row?
Like you, I also buy after trying. I am careful about it. However I have gone on blind buys many times. Most of her purchases were perfumes she regularly wears like Chanel, Hermes and Bottega Veneta. The TDC and Jo Malone were kind of blind buys after she tried them in the stores. For me it is not enough to decide if I would like a perfume or not. As I said before perfumes for her are a therapy…
1. Been there, done that, although not perfume. Two memorable shopping trips with an aunt (RIP) and uncle: Costco and Hong Kong (not on the same day)
2. Awe my God. At my worst for a full weekend, I didn’t even come close
3. I’m with floragal – I hope you and she were either plied with samples and/or you got all the samples you asked for
She is very careful with other type of shopping like clothes, shoes, bags, make up, beauty products, home items, etc. However, in terms of perfumes, oils, candles, aromatherapy products, she never limits herself at all.
Oh yes, I got samples I asked her to ask for. The others, she will enjoy herself and who knows, they will become full bottles in her next perfume shopping trip 🙂
Kudos on sticking to your no-buy! What an immense temptation to have…
YSL Caban
Have a fragrant day!
Have not tried those yet, is it nice?
tonka bean and sandalwood, its milky and buttery. Its a skin scent on me and find it very nice.
Thanks!
Oh, hey! I wore YSL Trench yesterday.
That’s a nice one!
I had lined up 5 ELdO scents for a week of The Antoines, but my flight cancellation last night has left me slightly disjointed. SOTD is a different Antoine Lie, “Night Flower” from Eris.
Top: lime, birch and cardamom;
Mid: suede, tunerose and cinnamon;
Base: patchouli, tonka and musk.
As good on a rainy day as it was a week ago in the sun.
I was struggling to read the T-shirt slogans above, and then realised that I was wasting moments of my life that I shall never have again on the ruddy Beatles. So I uttered a few unprintable slogans of my own that are unlikely to delight the target demographic, and went back to work.
* suede, TUBEROSE and cinnamon. ‘Tunerose’ sounds like a floral aromachemical.
Tunerose sounds like the perfect fragrance/music note. 🙂
“Tunerose” is the secret ingredient in Sushi Imperiale. 😉
Ha! Yes, I also had visions of sushi.
Mmmm sushi! 🙂
Talking bout sushi…I had a Dutch interpretation of a Hawaiian Poke (salad with raw fish) for lunch last weekend, it was pretty good.
With edamame beans and a spicy sauce!
I should have just done 3 T-shirts instead of 6 so you could read them, but I couldn’t pick. Sorry.
Oh, and bigger pics here, plus you can see the rest of the set:
http://shop.doverstreetmarket.com/comme-des-garcons/beatles-cdg
Oh hey, that link has birthed a lemming! Those boat bags are really cute…!
I love those boat bags!
Ah now, Robin, you needn’t have troubled yourself on my account. :^D
🙂
You smell marvelous. I have a bottle of this beauty too.
Happy Memorial Day to all here in the US, and a heartfelt Thank You to all who have served our country.
SOTD is SHL Taklamaken from a dabbler that basically poured all over. Instant love! This has zoomed to the top of my “Fragrances I Will Never Own in a Full Bottle.” But OMG! Gorgeous stuff. I feel exactly like a cat getting a whiff of catnip: I must rub it all over, roll in it, and become completely insensible to anything else. My full attention must be focused on the gorgeousness I’m wafting…
Happy Monday NSTers!
Yep. I feel the same way about Taklamakan, only I plan to make a full bottle my next splurge. It lasts forever, too.
Go you! It’s a real beauty!
I had almost the same reaction when I tried Taklamaken for the first time. It is really beautiful. It has been in my shopping list for a while, but I will eventually get a full bottle. Enjoy it!
It’s really lovely! Have you tried Mortal Skin, and if so, how does it compare to this one? That’s another I’m interested in…
No, I have not tried Mortal Skin yet. I need to order a sample soon.
You smell great. That one is beautiful and one of the few vanilla-centric perfumes I like, but somehow works better for me when it’s hot out. Maybe it’s the desert suggestion that’s swaying me.
You have commented on it several times, which is one of the reasons it’s been on my “to sample” list ????
After 8 days of vacation, I am back in the office, suffering from sleep deprivation plus a 4 hour time difference. My body thought it was 2 AM when my alarm went off, and it was so mot happy with me.
I got to meet the wonderful Naz at the Canadian location of The Perfume Shoppe while I was away, and spent a full 4 hours spritzing and having a blast with 2 fragrance friends.
Wearing Mancera Sicily today – a happy citrus scent that reminds me of Ananas Fizz.
Welcome back, hannahmom, what did you end up buying?
Alphabetical or random order 🙂
I live in a very small town in Nova Scotia, so this was a grand opportunity to sniff some new and new to me.
I splurged on Amouage Bracken – such a lovely, deep fougere. It smells so much like the deeply forested areas in my areas. I also bought the Mancera Sicily. The Mancera Pearl was wonderful, but I settled for a sample.
I bought 5 ml of 3 MDCI – Cio Cio San, Chypre Palatin and Promesse de l`Aube
I sniffed Clive Christian for the 1st time, and what fantastic quality. I want them all – can afford precisely none.
Montale Blue Amber was a hit for me, but similar to the Amber D’Or by Il Profvmo that I already own.
Sampled Mito EDP and am in LOVE
So many lemmings, so little time.
Ooh, fun! Congrats on the new haul. Hope that makes the transition back to reality easier.
Sounds like a wonderful time! I confess I take for granted the fact that I live in a city where so many fragrances are available to me. But, like anything in life it is far more special when you finally see or experience something you don’t have that regular exposure to.
Glad you found something you really like!
Sounds like a wonderful day! Enjoy your new treasures.
Recovering from time diffrence is always tough. I hope you feel better soon. Some coffee may help…
So hard to say goodbye to vacation! I would have the “Return to Work Blues” too!
Having to wake to an especially early alarm is one of my least favorite things. I hope you get a really good night’s sleep tonight, and wake up tomorrow refreshed!
Sounds like you had a grand time on your vacation!
Good morning and happy Monday,
I have very few perfumes where I am staying now, and because of the two elderly Siamese cats with respiratory problems who live here, have only been wearing them lightly. The up side is that I’m really appreciating the beauty of the two essential oils I brought with me (sandalwood and jasmine). Sandalwood is often thought of as a single note deal, but the actual substance has so many different notes within it and it changes over time on the skin.
SOTD: sandalwood oil layered with just a tiny drop of Trayee
It sounds like you have a great opportunity to appreciate some simplicity for a while. I’m sorry I didn’t get to comment on your posts earlier this week because I read late, but I hope this time of change isn’t too turbulent, and that you are taking good care of yourself. Sending positive energy your way.
I bet you smell amazing today.
You are kind. Thank you.
Sandalwood essential oil is a perfume unto itself. Same with osmanthus essential oil.
Yes! It is it’s own perfume. Different Sandalwoods have different notes. I have Indian which I got before it became so scarce. And it smells buttery with a kind of blooming flower quality as it dries down. Australian sandalwood is a bit greener and fruitier, quite floral and really beautiful.
Mysore is no 1 in my book….second runner up would be New Caledonia absolute which is sweeter, milkier and less dry than typical Australian sandalwood.
Oh thanks, I hadn’t heard of New Caledonia absolute. I will look for it.
Not yet honouring the Antoines, but feeling rather ladylike on this very hot day in Satin Doll (Ys Uzac). Tea was a very nice basic Darjeeling Earl Grey, and am about to do some Jasmin tea now.
I could use a cup of jasmine right about now…
I’m trying Sotto La Luna Tuberose today. It’s not the instant hit that the gardenia one was, but there’s something in it that’s keeping me very intellectually engaged in its development (if that makes any sense!). I spritzed about 20 minutes ago and am very curious about the dry down.
There’s something about Tauer scents that makes me invest emotionally in them – I don’t think there’s been one that I’ve tried that I could ever ignore or be indifferent to. However, this means that there are a lot of days when they’re just not easygoing enough to wear!
My thoughts go out to everyone who is missing a loved one on this Memorial Day.
It is very difficult to resist a Tauer. They are so particular and unique.
I don’t love all of them but I never have thought of any of them as “meh”.
SL Sa Majesta La Rose
Dyptique Rose De Mai
VC & A Rose Velours
Who wins?
Rose Velours!!!
and I took a trip to the mall today as younger family member needed some essentials at Target. I went to Sephora and picked up three samples for him for the summer (the SA was stingy and also not very pleasant)…I did eight sprays on the right wrist of Eau des Mervielles and eight sprays on the left wrist of L’Ambre des Mervielles because gosh darn it I am going to love these one of these days…..(and if truth be told the amber one is starting to grow on me)
Now that I am home I am doing some experimental blending…on the top of my right hand is vintage Amazone with a spritz of Orange Sanguine on top and on the top of my left hand is Black Flower Mexican Vanilla with a spritz of Orange Sanguine over it…I am truly loving both combos!!!
Oh and the summer samples I got for him were
Hermes D’Orange Vert
Dior Sauvage
YSL J’Homme Ginembre
I have been shamelessly watching youtube perfume review videos on TV (much to the chagrin of Mr. CM8 as the perfume videos are now bumping out his “recommended for you” sci-fi movies) and this morning I watched several summer 2017 recommendations and these three were mentioned.
SOTD: Candy L’eau
Planning to bake a cheesecake later today. Need to buy some vanilla pods!
Save me a slice!
That’s one dessert that I’ve not had a lot of experience making. This year’s I’m focused on cookies, but maybe for 2018 I’ll do a year focusing on cheesecakes (God help my friends & family and their weight/cholesterol issues).
I love making cheesecakes. So dense and satisfying and the variations are limitless. 🙂
How do you like your cookies? Crispy or chewy? (I am chewy all the way!)
Yes, I’m more on the chewy side too but some cookies you need crispy such as the graham cracker cookies I make, and of course Tate’s Cookies!
Oh man, Tate’s are so good! I love the white chocolate chip ones.
I’m trying La Femme Prada this morning thanks to an overly generous SA (she couldn’t find the cosmetics samples she wanted to give me, so she went and ransacked the perfume counter for their samples), and I’m quite enjoying it. Looked up Robin’s review, and discovered the perfumer was Daniela Andrier. Well, no wonder I like it! Robin’s assessment seems to be pretty spot-on, too, and luckily I like my jasmine mostly declawed. 🙂 Happy Memorial Day, NSTers!
I would love to know if that one is selling! Such a pretty bottle.
Missing my friend Terry Plunk today.
https://vawarmemorial.wordpress.com/2012/10/23/hero-highlight-terry-lawrence-plunk/
SOTD is Mariella Burani, again, because I got a whiff of the lovely warm drydown on a shirt I wore briefly last week. Gaze is in DC with the high school marching band, performing in the National Memorial Day parade this afternoon. I’m sorry to miss his last performance, but just cannot face the 5-hour drive, the crowds, and the likely heat. I’m grateful for the live stream.
When I think of all the young men and women who have died serving the US in military conflicts in the last two decades, it hurts so much. Thanks for sharing the story of your friend. Clearing mines in 1991 was unbelievably selfless work.
May his memory be a blessing.
That link is a poignant reminder of what Memorial Day is about.
Having a nice time with Vetiver Fatal from Atelier Cologne!
Oh that is a good one 🙂
I am not a vetiver fan but I do like the Atelier version.
Eau de Celeri for a nice sunny day.
Thank you, all who have served our country in whatever capacity. And, thank you to all the military families who have sacrificed time with your loved ones for the rest of us.
I’m not celebrating Digestive Health Day very successfully. Biscuits and gravy for breakfast and I plan on eating cake for lunch. This coming week will be spent working extra time to cover for a vacationing coworker, so I’m taking a day for hedonism (no, autocorrect, I don’t mean Heidi sim). In the spirit of staying on-theme, I’m wearing Hedonist, which is really blooming in the heat and humidity.
Hedonist is lovely! I think cake for lunch is a fabulous idea. I may copy you, and have some ice cream on the side ????
Cake for lunch! Love that idea!
I made an upside down rhubarb spice cake on Saturday for an afternoon tea I was hosting and can definitely see this as a breakfast option for tomorrow morning as I go back to work.
That sounds delicious!
It’s a cake I’ll be making again that’s for sure!
MM, thanks for reminding me of the plain vanilla cake I have in my fridge. Getting a slice now and another cup of ice coffee. I think I will also carry some of that cake for breakfast tomorrow.
I was in the mood for something baked but not interested in an extra trip to the store so I disposed of an elderly jar of blueberry preserves and made this jam filled cake: http://www.lottieanddoof.com/2017/05/it-is-happening-again/
Next time I will use a cherry or raspberry jam instead and add more nutmeg, but it is a very good cake. The texture is dense and wonderful and I’m pretty sure my husband has had four slices already.
Holy cow that looks so good I think I would have eaten the entire cake…..and it looks easy enough to make.
Wearing Cedar Atlas and enjoying it very much. I usually wear this when I get my hair cut because my hairdresser likes it so much, but I’m living on the edge and wearing on an actual bad hair day.
Oh nice! I love that one…the Ateliers are so good on hot humid days..and how lovely of you to waft what others like when you see them 🙂
SOTD was Dame Perfumery’s New Musk Oil, now reduced to traces on my shirt after the gym
I adore this scent. The plum notes make is magical on my skin, and it is subtle enough to be a perfectly acceptable office scent.
I second that. and it is also AMAZING for layering…I like to layer it with most of his soliflores.
House twin!
SotD = Eau de Guerlain, a gentle start to a cloudy, cool, grey Memorial day.
Great picture today, Robin. Love the CdG/Beatles shirts, they’re poetic. It’s worth clicking over to peek at the full line.
I like these two:
With a little help
From my friends
I’ll follow
The sun
Here comes the sun
Let it be
Something
Sigi’s yogurt is my snack this morning. Yay for digestive health!
how is eau de guerlain
Eau de Guerlain is slightly sweet, lightly herbal, true to the cologne style. It makes me think of drinking limeade — refreshing citrus with a cooling twist.
Boy does that sound good…both the drink and the fragrance!
Respectfully remembering our veterans, current service members, and all those who support them…
In the office working today — I’ve got the place to myself — and to avoid perfume distraction, I’ve kept it light with Prada’s L’eau Ambre.
Happy Monday, all!
I went to reach for L’eu Ambre yesterday and found the bottle to be empty! The color of bottle makes it hard to tell how much is left, but I think some may have evaporated as well since it didn’t have a top when I purchased it. Glad this one can be found for cheap on ebay.
Enjoy the quite of your office, and hope you get much done!
So nice when there is nobody around. The work to be done flows so easily. You smell beautiful!
Was doing a bit of research over the weekend and discovered that the Osmothèque website is now way more extensive in English than I recalled. However, it is difficult to find things because it seems to lack a search function. (!) Is this just a problem with my browser, or what is available in English translation? I did, nonetheless, find this interesting post on vetiver:
https://www.osmotheque.fr/en/2015/10/22/vetiver-a-palette-of-woody-fragrances/
FYI, I forget how I found this article the first time, but to find it today, I did a Google search for “osmotheque vetiver.” This approach is worth a try if you want to see if they have an article on another material.
Try the site:search trick to use Google to search within a particular website: https://blog.hubspot.com/marketing/how-to-do-a-google-site-search#sm.001u1pdu512wkdtuyxp1c4gev80vs
Although I think maybe they have only done bergamot, sandalwood, and vetiver so far.
This week I made Osmanthe Yunan body oil, to see if I can get more time out of this beauty. I don’t have a lot of Antoine-perfume to put on top, but I am never opposed to a bit of my fat electrician sample on top…
Hey, has anyone tried Olfactive Studio Close Up? I just read it is by my favourite, Annick Menardo, and has my sought-after coffee note!?
Curious on this one as well, jjlook. I’m hunting for that sought-after coffee note too! I’ve tried others of that brand and find them to not last very well on me.
It is very interesting. Coffee is on a gentler side but surprisingly works well with cherry.
For an amazing coffee I would suggest Yhe Rising Phoenix Kopi Luwuk attar.
I just read about this on Etsy — wow! This looks like the real deal. Have you tried any of their other scents?
BTW, have you tried by kilian’s Intoxicated? Can’t recall if we discussed this one.
People have mentioned it to me, but the brand is no longer located in one of our downtown shops where I might visit it…
I hope to eventually try it out, however!
I tried it back in April. I wrote “Unusual cherry-coffee-amber, not quite gourmand, decent longevity” and put it on my longlist.
It was nice but not super long lasting on me. Kind of reminded me in feel, not scent, of Lolita Lempicka and Angel, without the nuclear sillage. I would have bought it if it lasted longer on my skin.
My youngest and husband are visiting the Manassas battlefield today, the site of the Battle of Bull Run–a disorganized, bloody mess, and the first of many more.
Last night I had a hankering for rose, so my SOTN was A la rose. I think I’ll continue in that vein today in the Rose of No Man’s Land.
Rose is an easy note to have a hankering for imho. ????
SOTD is the remnants of my OJ Champaca sample which is barely noticeable since I’m headed to a movie (King Arthur) with a friend who is a bit of a perfume-phobe- though she does like Guerlain Vetiver and use sandalwood scented powder and lavender EO, and burns sage and incense-kind of a hippy. I think she dislikes what she thinks of as “perfume-y” perfume. Anyway, I don’t think I’ll offend. Enjoy your day off to those who have one!
Since I only have enough of the Antoine scents for four days I thought I’d go out of the box and wear something that I haven’t worn. From my Histories de Parfums discovery set I’m wearing Patchouli Noir.
I’m wearing a sample of ELDO You… It’s FBW to me. Very cheerful.
Enabler alert: Parfum1 has 25% off with code SUMMERDAYPE. Ends tomorrow. (No affiliation)
I am pretty sure that Sephora is now selling many of the ELDOs in travel sprays for 25 dollars (including that one)
http://www.sephora.com/you-or-someone-like-you-travel-spray-P419610?skuId=1915701&icid2=similar%20products:p419610
it’s nice when my middle aged brain decides to co-operate and actually does remember something!!!
Thanks!!!
Had probably a bit too much to drink at a party sans child last night (and got three compliments on my L’A al Oudh); gearing up for a pool party avec child today with a little Eau Sauvage. Yay long weekend, but I need some sleep . . .
Hahaha! It sounds like you’re having a blast.
Enjoy!
It’s been a wonderful, restful 3-day weekend for me. Slept a lot, but really needed it. Only real disappointment was the lack of sunshine.
Starting to get back to work as I’ve got much I’m behind on and a quite day to try to plow thru some things.
So very grateful for the men & women (some family) that have served in the armed services, sacrificed in countless ways for this country’s continued freedom. Thank you & God bless.
SOTD: Estee Lauder’s Private Collection Tuberose Gardenia
You smell gorgeous! Hope the day remains peaceful and productive for you.
Eau des Merveilles on this sunny Memorial Day.
Scent twin!!!!!! eight sprays on one of my wrists, courtesy of Sephora…was thinking of you and tiffanie as I sprayed like a nutter in the store….it is starting to grow on me…I think more is more on this one.
Overcast right now but it’s supposed to burn off later. I’m wearing A la Nuit this morning as I try to figure out how to hang my window shutters.
Happy Memorial Day!
!و رمضان مبارك
SOTD is Dame Bergamot, Jasmine & Labdanum, plus a drop of Joy EDP (liberated from my mom) on my arm. I’m enjoying watching the family of great horned owls in the trees in my backyard and some baseball on TV and looking forward to the burgers the family and I will be having soon. Life is good.
A FAMILY of Great Horned Owls? Hear that? It is the sound of envy all the way from Oakland, CA!
Yes, although there’s only one baby this year as opposed to two last year. Of course, now that it’s several months old, this “baby” is pretty much as big as the adults! The owls hang out here during the day in the summer because there are a lot of trees in my yard and those of both the neighbors. We’re really lucky.
SOTD:
ELDO Bendelirious, cuz I’m doing the Antoine thing
Privet Bloom, cuz a kind NSTer sent it to me ????
Clean Shower Fresh, cuz curious
Tocca Graciella, cuz I’m going through my rollerballs and minis for freebiemeet
Smelling of sunscreen and organic natural sunless tanner (smells better than it sounds, I swear – sort of brown sugar with undertone of the usual sunless tanner odor).
Remembering those who have paid for our freedom.
Spending the day with my DH. Currently sitting in the car while he washes it at a local self-serve car wash. What a champ! All the fun of a drive through car wash ????
There’s a sign on the wall that reads “Do Not Use Brush on Engine”
Oh boy. People.
I had no idea you could get organic natural sunless tanners. I am a pale person coming off of a long Midwestern winter (and an unseasonably cool spring), so may need to do some research…
And thanks for sharing the car wash sign, it made me laugh!
Dunno if you’ll check back again so late, but the brand I am using is called Skinerals, I got it off Amazon. The color is good on my super pale skin 🙂
Oh my gosh, that sign. ????
I’m spending the next three days at a residential leadership course, the second part of a year long course run through work. Last time I took just two perfumes, this time I thought “Why travel light – I could fill the car if I wanted to!”, so I’ve packed a few. I’ll be starting in 24 Faubourg, I think.
SOTD = back to the sample stash and testing Derek Lam 10 Crosby’s Looking Glass. Meh.
Memorial Day is always melancholy for me. Part of that is remembering my father, who is buried in a National Cemetery. He passed long after his military service ended, but the memories of hearing “Taps” after the funeral are still sad ones. I take today to remember him, and others in uniform, such as police officers, firemen, and EMTs, who also serve our communities. Thank you, for all that you have done.
Taps is such a powerful bugle call; I know what you mean having also experienced this for family loved ones. Can never hear it and not be moved to tears.. grateful for your father and his service to our country.
Thank you, floragal. It’s nice to know that others have the same emotional reaction to Taps.
Wearing Raw Spirit – Desert Blush. As someone on Fragrantica said, it smells like dry heat in a good way 😀
Enjoying the sound of smell today: http://monocle.com/radio/shows/the-monocle-arts-review/523/olfactory-art/
SOTD = Byredo Reine de Nuit
Very light application due to scent-phobe family members. This was an instant love for me…rose, berry, patch…very PoaLish but with less projection.
I just found out that Twin Peaks is back on the air. I guess I would call it Twin Peaks 2.0. Nice cinematography and the familiar haunting theme music, but the text typography feels all wrong. Nevertheless, the episodes are just as weird and somehow, more violent and graphic than I remembered. In any case, from the first episode, I have a new expression to use whenever someone is being unreasonable and stupid. Picture this scene: Cops showed up at the house of this couple where the husband was just told he was under arrest for an undisclosed crime. The wife turned to the husband and the cops and said “But we’re having the Morgan’s over for dinner tonight.”
Loved Twin Peaks when it was first aired back in the early 1990s. Rewatched it earlier this year, and a lot of it was axiety-inducing to my old 50+ year old self, which is weird since the show didn’t affect me the same way when I was younger. If it makes its way to a streaming service, I can fast forward the graphic scenes. ????
SOTD: Eris Night Flower. I might have some Puredistance White or Black samples to participate this week.
These are 3 of mine under consideration!
Re: Twin Peaks. I’ve been paying for ShowTime for years and don’t recall ever watching anything on this channel. It’s about time!
lol! I think I’ve got some uses for that as well. Thank you very much!
Didn’t sleep well last night. Too much going on right now *sigh. Another cold and damp morning and I have a class tonight after work. Wearing Juliette has a Gun Gentlewoman to get me through today because petitgrain counts as perfume vitamins right?
