Happy Almost-Friday and happy Weed Day, and a very happy birthday to George Takei, who turns 80 today — set phasers to stunning! What fragrance are you wearing?
So many Italians, so little time...this morning I wanted to wear Lorenzo Villoresi Dilmun, but no can find. So I'm in the lovely Lorenzo Villoresi Donna instead.
Reminder: on 4/21 we're doing Enchanted April (inspired loosely by the novel and movie of the same name) — wear your favorite Italian fragrance.
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2017, where I'll try to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.
Update: and meant to say, please don't miss Kanuka on the radio!
Still using Angela’s Perfume on a Budget as an inspiration.
On left arm Tabac Citron
On right arm Gallop
If Gallop were at Sephora I would be tempted during their percent off sale this week, but lucky for my wallet its not
SipOTD Hammam green tea from PdT
Now do you like the Tabac Citron?
Gorgeous !!! For a natural it is long lasting.. Just beautiful
Good to know…I completely finished my Providence samples and while I adored them I did not get much lasting power (maybe an hour at most).
Gallop has completely faded and Tabac is still hanging on and I sprayed at 7:30 am and it’s now 12:30 my time
On my way to a funeral right now. My aunt’s mother died from Alzheimer’s on Saturday, so I have to go. Spending the morning in De Profundis. When that wears off, I will switch to no 19.
So sorry.
So sorry Dawn!
As life spans extend, I fear we will all being going into situations where Alzheimers is the cause. We are living with it now withy dad. My sympathies to you and your family.
Hugs for you shelllyw.
My condolences, and may there be peace for your family.
My condolences to you.
So sorry for your loss, Dawn.
I’m sorry for your loss.
I am so sorry. De Profundis is actually rather perfect.
So sorry, Dawn.
My sympathies to you and your family, Dawn.
I am sorry for your loss.
Very sorry Dawn! Hugs to you….
I’m very sorry.
So sorry for you’re loss Dawn.
My condolences, Dawn.
So sorry for your loss.
Prada Candy. Very cozy – just what I need on this cold day.
You smell great! I did not get to Prada at all this week, drat.
You smell wonderful. I enjoy Candy a lot.
I was eyeing that today! I love it!
Cozy is a great description of this scent.
Bottega Veneta Knot today from another Nordstrom sample.
I wasn’t aware that 420 stood for anything until a few years ago. Teenagers can be useful and informative.????
Ha — that’s exactly how I know
Teenagers from miles around come to “celebrate” in the park across the street from me. In the past year a couple of urban coyotes have taken up residence there; that may lead to some surprising encounters this afternoon.
Ha! I was just informed of what it stood for at the pharmacy less than an hour ago….my younger crew won’t tell me anything but they fail to acknowledge that I can and do look things up online!
Wearing one of my few Italian houses today.
Ambre d Or by Il Profvmo – II get a sweet powdery amber, and it has a half life comparable to uranium.
So happy as one of the Galgos in my local group got loose last night, and found his way home after a 12 hour walkabout. Apparently he, and all his escapee siblings are just fine, and pepperoni snacks are being spread with abandon. Kiss your critters from me – they are precious things.
I did not know what a Galgos was — now I know! Glad he is back safe.
I volunteer in Greyhound and Galgo adoption, and have one of each. My avatar is Ollie, a silly Galgo who came to live with me after he and his sibs were found with their deceased mother in Spain. He is the joy of my life.
I was texting with the Mom of the greyhound and Galgo escapees, and everyone is curled up, sleeping warmly and safely with full bellies.
So glad they’re all safe and sound.
I don’t know why, but the pepperoni sticks are cracking me up. I’m so glad your dog is back! I will hug my cat extra hard when I get home – I’m terrified of getting lost outside.
You smell really nice. And you will for quite a long time!
IT’S SNOWING. It’s not supposed to be this cold (-7° C). I don’t know what the heck is going on weather-wise but I’m cocooned in SL Un Bois Vanille, so warm and snuggly and dreamy.
I saw that NB got snowed on!! It is below 0 C here too.
Such a wonderful bundle-up scent you are wearing
Stay warm and cozy!
Glad the SL is helping. That is so many kinds of wrong! (Funny: as I was writing this, “Blame Canada” started playing on the TV lol)
Marni!
Another one I should have worn this week!
There were so many options! I forgot Bulgari is Italian.
Ah, totally forgot Marni is Italian. I have one more option than I thought.
I’ve worn Marni twice this week!
I found a sample of Eau d’Italie Sienne l’hiver. It is cold and pouring rain here, and this is a good match for that. I don’t think it would ever be on my wishlist though – very acidic and herbal.
That’s an odd one, and I never can decide if I like it or not. Wish I had a decant, though.
I really like it – I think because it was one of the first perfumes I sniffed that wasn’t a “typical” perfume. I don’t think I could ever wear it regularly, however.
It appears the Easter Bunny didn’t remember my bottle of Oliver Peoples. (He was probably too busy!) If your generous offer of a wee decant is still available, please contact me at payne underscore cm at the yahoo.
Will do!
I could do many weeks of Italian frags. Maybe it’s my Italian heritage but I find I prefer, and relate to, the style of Italian perfumery over French or English or American. I do love Middle Eastern but it’s just so intense and a little limited in its scope. I enjoy the fun, bold passion in Italian scents.
Today I have a headache so I went for easy and delightful Roma by Laura Biagiotti
I think you were my enabler for Roma. A little too cold today here for it, but you smell wonderful! I’m still not sure what makes Italian perfumes “Italian”. I guess in my mind they are citrusy and aromatic or something.
Ooh an enabler pin! I’m glad I could spread the love for that, it’s a great find for a cheapie.
I’d like to know that too. Doesn’t “aromatic” just mean that it smells (good)?
Look at the purple one on the bottom: http://www.fragrancesoftheworld.com/FragranceWheel
Oh, that’s a pretty cool tool. Thanks!
By “aromatic” I mean the herbal/spice spectrum.
I am generalising as I know there are exceptions, like niche, but overall to me French perfumery is more polished, refined and elegant, whereas Italian is more carefree, maybe a bit brasher and more outdoorsy. More outspoken compared to French’s classy manners
I never feel like I ought to be manicured and coiffured in Italian fragrances.
I can see that-especially with niche Italian. It seems like some of the mainstream Italian fashion lines are just following what’s on trend these days?
You’ve inspired me to explore the Italian section of my off-site storage. Any mainstream suggestions….from Salvatore Ferragamo, Valentino, Gucci and Bulgari. I have only ever bought Prada and Bottega V.
Maybe they have some of the Ferragamo ‘Tuscan Soul’ range? I have an FB of Vendemmia and a decant of Convivio; they are fun.
No SOTD yet, but later will be wearing Monserrat. I have exciting news. My husband is feeling recovered enough from his radiation therapy (which ended just 3 weeks ago) that we’re going ahead with the trip to Jordan we had planned for early May. We had already bought plane tickets for May 3rd before we got his diagnosis. After his treatment began, I kissed the idea of actually taking the trip goodbye. It just didn’t seem plausible. Now I’ve been frantic having to book hotels, etc. at what seems like the last minute to me, but it’s been a joy to see him feeling up to travel. And this is a trip we’ve planned for 15 years. Still haven’t had time to consider what scents I’ll bring. I think Incense Rose for Petra will be appropriate.
Great news! Good luck with all your planning. What a celebration!
To quote the Great Bear, “Carpe Diem!”
Where is bear? I miss seeing his bearded face
Same. I hope he enjoyed his Easter.
Awesome! A friend just came back from Petra and she loved it. So glad he’s up to travel-that seems like a good sign. SHL 777 Rose de Petra would be fitting????
Awesome news! I hope you both have a fantastic time.
Wonderful! Enjoy the planning and your trip.
Wow, that’s going to be an amazing trip for so many reasons. Have fun planning! It’s coming so soon.
YES! DO IT!
Life is way too short, and your hubbie knows this! And yes, Incense Rose sounds just about perfect.
Brilliant news. So exciting!
That’s wonderful! I hope you both enjoy it to the fullest!
It’s so lovely to read such good news!, so great to hear that you’re husband is well enough to go on you’re exciting trip.
Woot woot for great news! Enjoy your well deserved trip.
That’s wonderful news! Enjoy your adventure! ????
Great news! Have fun!
SOTD: D&G’s Velvet Vetiver.
I’m doing just the “enchanted” part of the theme today in vintage Vol de Nuit.
Enchanted and enchanting !
You can’t ever go wrong with vintage VdT!
Cold but fortunately not snowing in Montreal. Mitzah is perfect.
Mitzah is always perfect
I second that!
You smell divine.
Absolue pour le Soir today, a gut purchase when MFK announced that LVMH purchased a controlling portion of its company. (And for what it’s worth, their site is continually less expensive than their American retailers with free shipping to boot. I saved about $50!)
I am saving my decant of that for honey week.
It’s great stuff. I hope all his interviews about what a poor seller it is made a few extra sales. I’m contemplating a backup!
Sunny, beautiful day, but stuck in my office tediously plugging away at data analysis reports in Excel. Dreadful chore countered by a dab of Bal a Versailles on my left arm and a spritz on the right of Coco Mademoiselle EDT. Bright, gorgeous skank cures all Office Space blues.
I’ve spent the last week crunching resourcing plans in Excel. Highlight of my day today: I found a formula online to do for multiplication what SUMIF does for addition. I mean, who’d be a film star or a food critic when you can sit and crunch numbers all week, eh? :^D
And I was in PowerPoint hell this week.
I’ve been too busy to post much this week but I’ve really been enjoying wearing my Italian scents, mostly Etro and Prada. Today it’s Maria Candida Gentile Cinabre-I’d forgotten how pretty this is.
I just bought a decant of Cinabre from TPC during their flash sale yesterday.
Hope you love it!
Pamplemousse Rhubarbe over a base of bergamot, jasmine and bourbon vanilla e.os…
Robin thanks for the rec on the Witnesses…watched the first episode and love it! Too bad it is only one season
So glad! I read somewhere that there would be a 2nd season, but I’ve looked for it and no luck. Maybe it didn’t happen.
Also cannot find the debut date for the 3rd season of UK version of Broadchurch in the US, if anyone knows!
SOTD is Mon Guerlain. I was trying to keep up with the Italian week, but a great friend sent this as a gift.
I will get back with the program tomorrow
You smell great, the more I wore MG the more I loved it
It’s growing on me too.
Cozy is a great description of this scent.
I meant this post as a reply to Prada Candy. I’m not sure how I managed to post it here. But, now that I think about it, Mon Guerlain is kind of cozy also
I smelled Mon Guerlain at France in Epcot. I dodn’t really have a chance to test it beyond a quick sniff.
I love perfume shopping in Epcot. So much fun!
I’m wearing Maria Candida Gentile’s Rrose Selavy today. I had a sample of Ellis Brooklyn Rrose, and after reading the reviews of both on NST, I got a decant of Rrose Selavy. I totally agree with the reviews by the way. Rrose is very pretty, but Rrose Selavy is much more intriguing.
I’m glad you’re getting on with the MCG one – I bought a small decant thinking I’d love it, and I do *not*. It has teeth. (Want it? PM me.)
Intriguing is a good way to put it since there are some rough bits in it. I really like it in the heat-particularly wearing it while in the yard, surrounded by greenery. I find it blends well with nature.
I’ve not tried the MCG, but the Ellis one struck me as very english-garden-prim rose, as well as very feminine. (I sprayed some on my H to test the feminine theory, and it smelled girlish on him.) Not at all what the PR/name would imply.
Fell asleep yesterday wearing Moon Bloom. Woke up and still had a white flower craving.
I grabbed Ophelia, by Heeley
A proper, well behaved white flower bouquet. Safe for office and work meetings imo.
After 6 hours it starts to develop into a boring musk. Not a big problem because when that happens I can hardly smell it anymore. Haha.
And happy birthday to George Takei!
I am not a Trekkie (though I like sci fi, this series does not work for me), but he seems like a fun guy who does good things for good causes.
Hmmm- Moon Bloom as a sleep elixir sounds like a good idea.
George Takei has been one of the more active members of the original Star Trek. His family was in a Japanese internment camp during WWII, and he has used his celebrity to champion causes related to human rights.
I saw the documentary To be Takei on Netflix a while ago.
The story about how he and his family were treated in the internment camps made me so sad.
Since today is my Friday I’m participating in Enchanted April a day early. Whomever suggested Infusion d’Iris deserves a gold star, as it fits the bill perfectly. Fresh yet tender, springy, and Italian. I have the EdT version which highlights violet and heliotrope notes. Ahhh… so lovely.
You smell great!
You smell great! That one is beautiful in all it’s iterations, IMHO.
Happy Birthday, Mr. Takei! 80, Oh, my… I’m happy he’s reimerged on social media.
Gianfranco Ferre Ferre edp for Italian week. I took this blind in a swap (thanks Laurels!) and it’s FM Iris Poudre with a few tweaks. Which is ironic because I swapped away the remainder of my IP travel spray, lol. I liked IP but the opening and first few hours gave me a bit of a headache-maybe the aldehydes. The drydown hours later was divine!
Ferre smells more like the drydown of IP (it’s also Pierre Bourdon) and it doesn’t induce the headache so it’s a win!
Mr. Takei has become quite the king of social media, as it were- and a welcome living reminder of the importance of civil rights for immigrant minority populations. Please, if you can, see Allegiance- his Broadway musical based on his time in a Japanese Internment Camp in his youth.
He’s “performing” at BAM next month(not Allegiance). I might try to get tickets to that. Yes, he really has emerged as a human rights activist.
Really? Wow! I hope you get tickets to that!
Not related to the bday boy, but ‘Hold These Truths’ is a one-man play on the same theme. My husband and I saw it a couple of years ago and it was incredible. It’s had a few runs up & down the west coast (I think it’s fairly new.) If anyone gets the chance to see it, I highly recommend.
I am in Portland, so I will keep an eye out for it!
I love IP and don’t mind the aldehydes but if its headache inducing why bother!
Yeah, I stopped bothering. Not sure what is was. Something a little raspy about it. The body butter is divine, though. I went tgrough several samples if that.
Oh, agreed. No point putting up with headaches. I love IP, but then I like aldehydes; the drydown is the best part anyway. Sadly, I did not get anything close to it from the Ferre. (‘sokay, more for you, right?)
I also like aldehydes (I wear no 5 and 22) but it’s something about the combo of the aldehydes + ? in IP. Huh. I think the Ferre is a dead-ringer for IP. I think Luca T called Ferre a perfected IP in The Guide. But, yes, more for me ????
*makes note to try this* IP went all sour on me, so I didn’t get aldehydes or iris. I think I had the Ferre in my ebay shopping cart many moons ago after reading good things about it.
Good morning Y’all!
Sneezing because I’m wearing Chanel No 5 EdT! LOL For the first few minutes I sneeze it out, and then we coexist blissfully for the rest of the day……
I wore a light spritz of the edt to an appt the other week and the person sneezed a couple of times during the appointment and I hoped it wasn’t my perfume! Anyway, you smell lovely.
And meant to add from your comment from yesterday: I’ve tried A LOT of those products from Sephora for hyperpigmentation and none of them did anything after 6 months of use.
Best bet is glycolic acid peels (I use 50% from Amazon, which is strong, so only for a few minutes). Another cheap trick which did work somewhat: raw potato juice!!! But you have to use it twice a day/daily.
Lol I thought it was just a problem I had with no5!!
The only scent I have this sneezing thing with is Spellbound. Chanel 5 and are just fine with eachother…
You smell wonderful!
Almost all my perfumes make me sneeze when first applied. It doesn’t stop me from wearing perfume. ????
Puredistance Sheiduna today… because it’s cold.
You smell fantastic.
Thank you
I bet you felt a little bit warmer once you applied it!
You’re exactly right!
The weather has turned gloomy and a bit cooler here today (not complaining, we need rain badly), so I’m enjoying DSH Perfume’s stunning Lautrec. It’s a rich labdanum-benzoin-amber-civet-ylang, with faint wafts of caramel, cognac and artemisia. It is definitely not gourmand, but the caramel/cognac give off wafts that resemble immortelle on my skin. It’s retro and yet contemporary, cozy but classy. Highly recommended!
That sounds amazing. We should have DSH week after a freebie meet to distribute samples
.
That’s a great idea!
I’ve been wanting to try some DSH scents for ages but every time I visit her site, I get totally overwhelmed. Samples are pricey, too. I am intrigued by the thematic/art-inspired work she does, though. Come to think of it, I’d love to test her YSL scents against the Saint Laurent Le Vestiaire set I bought recently.
I am lemming this!
The Friday projects help discipline me to understand my perfumes better. I love to wear my favorites, but I find out so much about my own collection from the posts, or from just having to dig around in the samples and revisit them.
SOTD Nobile 1942 Patchouli. This is the kind of scent you spray on, acknowledge as a well composed patchouli, and then later wonder who smells so good in the elevator.
Agreed on the Friday projects!
That’s sort of been on my to buy list for years! I do love it though and you smell wonderful.
Thanks for mentioning this. I love patchouli notes but have never heard of Nobile Patchouli.
Ooh. Sounds nice. Great description
I have the Nobile 1942 chocolate collection.
Warm and sunny spring day here today, trying Eau Parfumee au The Vert for the first time. Enjoying it for a day like today.
you smell great
That one is nice in warm weather. My bottle gets sorely neglected ???? Must remedy!
Love that one!
Tempore Donna by Laura Biagiotti. Love this, but it’s big. Hard for me to wear it lightly enough for my preference.
Scents like that I usually decant and dab!
Ms. Spring, if I have not awarded you an enablers pin, then I am quite late. After participating in your Theorema split meet, I promptly ordered a bottle of that lovely juice. Thank You!
Being lazy on this rainy day. Sotd is Prada Candy Kiss.
I’m wearing Lonesome Rider today and it is making me so very happy. I love the mood it puts me in and how it makes me think of where I grew up.
George Takkei is such an awesome guy. I hope he stays healthy and happy for a long time. His Ted talk about being in a Japanese interment camp during WW2 is incredible.
I really wish I had spelled George Takei’s name correctly! D’oh!
Have you see Allegiance? Incredible musical!
Love Lonesome Rider. You smell wonderful.
Hi all!
1) Woosh, what a week! Sat down, focused, and did my tax returns. Usually I don’t owe or I have to pay something minor like $500 or so. This year, because of buying the house and actually doing a grown up thing and opening a retirement account, I am getting back $5000?????
2) Weed and chocolate for everybody! WHHEEEEEE!
3) No, but for real though, that will probably goes toward decor, savings and a much needed sunny vacation.
4) In Cannabis Santal. Oldie but goody!
Yay on the refund! Yay on spending it!
OMG, after submitting the returns last night I swear I was on a dozen different shopping sites- who of course had tax day sales…!
#1- wow!
#2- fun!
#3- good for you…sensible to save but great to also treat yourself
#4- you smell great!
Hee! I am actually gonna treat myself to a dinner of kale chicken salad, Champagne and (vegan) chocolate ice cream!
Fantastic! Just think of all the perfume that will buy…:)
That amount of perfume is getting to St. Donatella’s levels!
#1 not complaining either but I really should increase my exemptions. And you, my dear, should do the same since you are paying more quarters’ worth of real estate taxes and mortgage interest, offset by no closing costs…
Hi from Paris! I’m certainly a long way from home, New Zealand is quite a distance from anywhere.
I haven’t managed to keep up with reading NST over the last few days, which have been nonetheless very perfume-focused. I’d put together quite a list over the last couple of years of things to buy here, and I’ve been racing from place to place to make sure I get everything while I have the chance. I smell of quite a melange of scents at the moment, but particularly Fêtes Persanes, which is my one unplanned purchase.
I’m here with my sister-in-law, and she’s keeping up with me in the perfume buying
Marvellous! I thought of you and The Journey a lot–how I hate that 17 hour haul to Dubai. The trip is slghtly better through Singapore or Hong Kong, but you are right, this little country is very far from everywhere. I nearly weakened on the De Profundis front, but … anyway, enjoy every minute.
Enjoy your trip and tell us more about your haul
I do hope you have a comfy pair of shoes for all that walking!
Your trip sounds like pure heaven!!!! Can’t wait to hear about all of your purchases!!! Sigh….One day, I’m gonna make it to Paris!
Your vacation sounds like a dream that I would be disappointed to wake from. Have fun! ????
Hurray! Perfume in Paris in spring. Sigh.
How wonderful to be in that magical city, sniffing and purchasing perfume !!
Have a wonderful trip! *lives vicariously through you*
Sounds like you are having a wonderful time!
Glad you’re having fun, and cannot wait to hear about your haul!
Fêtes Persanes is lovely. Looking forward to hearing about your haul!
Feeling cozy in Narciso today.. my bottle is near empty but I really want to find another 30ml size vs. the typical 50ml or larger. Bottle is still a joy to behold on my dresser.
Goodness, you smell good!
That bottle is a masterpiece. I currently have both the edp and edt out in rotation. I usually think of the edp as a fall/winter scent but I’ve been wearing the heck out of it this spring. You smell beautiful! BTW, I looked for the 30 ml bottles as well, but I don’t think they were ever released in the US, hence the difficulty finding them.
Yep, that’s right. Same with the Bottega Veneta. I want that 30ml bottle too! It’s on ebay but for more than it’s worth.. I may eventually bit the bullet and get it since it will last a long time anyway.
The edt is ok. I actually thought the new poudree version is quite nice.
I’m punting on the challenge again today because I want greenies. Weather is perfect for them and I don’t want to waste any of it.
Must go mow the grass. We’re supposed to get tons of rain later in the week.
I’d love to hear about your favorite greens. It’s one of my favorite genres.
Oh, sure. I like green florals best, citrus greenies bore me, and I absolutely hate fig leaf so please keep in mind that I have very specific preferences.
(Don’t we all?)
PdN Le Temps d’une Fete
Guerlain Chamade
Crown Perfumery Crown Bouquet
Chanel No. 19
Ralph Lauren Safari
Penhaligon’s Violetta (okay, that one’s a purple greenie)
Deneuve
Jolie Madame.
Bel Respiro!
Very good morning all, very early. Suddenly I’m sleepless, after days and days of long nights, if you see what I mean. Dakkie and I have done the ironing and tidied a wardrobe, but now I’ve run out of things I can do silently. So, one I’m reduced to planning an outfit to wear today: dark sage green cords and a shirt in green and dark rose with touches of deep gold-y beige, and a deep beige jacket decorated with the most pointless (but fun!) buttons you’ve ever seen. They go around the back of the neck, because….oh well, why not? Anyway, the reason I told you this was to get to my perfume choice. I think Dries van Noten will be a perfect match: soft spices arranged artlessly on soft woods. It’s turned truly chilly here, and I’m choosing perfumes and clothes to help me enjoy being perched on the cusp of winter.
Be well, all.
You are so perfectly put together!
SOTD = Profumum Roma Dulcis in Fundo
Yum! I smell like Lemon Poppy Seed Cupcake! Love!
Profumum Roma perfumes are generally very well done and highly concentrated. You can achieve a similar effect in terms of yumminess by layering:
– Luxe: Indult Tihota + Profumum Acqua Viva
– Budget: Al-Rehab Choco Musk and Demeter Lemon Meringue
You do smell absolutely yummy!! I have a sample of it and I’m hoarding the last few drops!
Oh don’t hoard – reek! reek!
You’ve got me smiling at your alternatives for every budget.
I am an equal opportunity perfumista
Oooh thanks for mentioning/wearing Profumum Roma
I thought I did not have enough italian fragrances to participate the whole week. But I totally forgot Profumum Roma, how could I??? I even have a whole vat of Arso in my collection. And a few great samples (Ambra Aurea is also gorgeous).
I, too, was surprised to find out I do have a good number of Italian perfumes!
I am clueless about this house. One day I’ll spend some time checking them out. I think Osswald has them, right?
Yes tbey do! I got mine at Fumerie in Portland where I met up with Ede97005 and AnnE.
Prada Nue du Soleil today for me – a freebiemeet sample if memory serves. It’s light, goes quickly from the orange blossom to patchouli. Enjoying it more than I expected. Light but cozy. Might be something that makes me interested in patch…
Huh! Never heard of this!
Neither had I. Am enjoying it, but it’s pricey in a big 100 ml bottle… it’s Nue Au Soleil, by the way…
No time to read the comments until later today. I am wearing Ligea La Sirena by Carthusia. It is similar Shalimar without the gasoline note.
That one is really nice. Reminded me of FM Musc Ravageur somewhat.
Drats! I haven’t tried Musc Ravageur.
Ligea has lavender in the top rather than citrus. Similar to Coromandel in that I prefer to wear it during the summer when the weather is hot. Strange, I know. ????
MR has orange in the top and then it’s pretty much an ambery, spiced vanilla. I like some of the heavier ones better in the heat, too, but only after like 6pm, lol.
It’s my birthday, too! I am happy to discover (and I’m not sure why I didn’t know this previously) that I share it with George – what a guy. Before today, the only other famous (or infamous, in this case) person that I knew shared my birthday was Hitler, so I’m pretty thrilled to have George switch places with him.
Thinking long and hard about my SOTD. I might go with Bois de Paradis, which is a long time favorite, but I’m also doing a bit of a lean toward La Fille de Berlin, which I got from a generous swapper a few weeks ago.
Happy Birthday!
Happy Birthday! Glad George came along as your birthday twin
Happy Birthday to you!
Happy birthday!
Happy Day Happy Birthday
Happy birthday!!
Oh, dear
Happy birthday and congrats on finding a new bday twin (!!!)
kpaint:
Right? Not exactly the person one wants to be associated with, in any manner, no matter how remote. Henceforth I’m going to happily proclaim shared natal days with George T. and Odilon Redon.
Happy birthday!
20 april is also Odilon Redon’s birthday
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Odilon_Redon
Jiji, that makes me even happier, because I love Redon’s dreamy paintings!
Happy birthday!
Happy scented birthday!
Happy Birthday! I hope you had fun!
Happy Birthday!
Thanks, everybody, for the birthday wishes! I went with La Fille de Berlin – a surprisingly (for a Lutens, I mean) lovely, jammy rose.
Wearing Krizia Teatro all Scala and loving it! I’d forgotten that I had a very small stash of samples, not in the lost mountain of samples, but in a drawer of special samples that I really do want to try.
This is wearing much more subtly than an Italian fragrance with ‘Scala’ in its name would suggest. It’s extremely well-blended and it’s very hard to pick out individual notes (after the initial aldehyde and coriander opening).
Oh, and a shout out and thank you to the generous and lovely NSTer who sent it to me.
You’re so welcome and the FB is still available
I’ve been wearing the heck out of the SSS, btw. 15 ml isn’t going to last long!
We might have to talk. The K de was too green for me but this one is lovely and developing nicely.
Ohhh myyy! Happy Birthday, Mr. Sulu!
Italian SOTD is Bvlgari Eau Parfumée au Thé Rouge. There are only a few sprays left in the bottle. So close to finishing it off!
Have a great Thursday/Friday, peeps!
It has been so long since I finished a bottle that I’ve forgotten what it feels like!
Santal 33 today.
you smell like NYC
Iris Nazarene for this morning. I meant to reach for Prada Candy today but instead found this. The last few tries were ‘nice, whatever’, but today it is glorious! I’m in love!! Why does that happen?
Sometimes all the forces in the universe need to line up to make it happen
(Maybe I’ll have my own moment with Iris Nazarene – thus far I’ve not loved it either)
I love the original Star Trek, and George Takei is great, both as he was then and as he is now.
Wearing Ael-Mat today, since I have a cold, and that is one of the few things I can smell. Nice and spring-y.
Get better!
Hope your cold goes away soon!
I’m in a mountain-lion-who-just-enjoyed-an-extended-roll-in-the-hay-and-then-splashed-on-a-little-bay-rum rut. That is, Sous le Vent, encore.
I love Sous le Vent! You smell feral and fab
Decided not to do Bulgari again today and instead went with Gucci Rush.
You smell great!
Just dropping in quickly with Italian scents. Yesterday Arso. So good and it lasts and lasts in a non annoying manner. Today Lankaran Forest; something a little more gentle for a plane ride.
You smell great!
Trump and the Italian prime minister are meeting today. Coincidence? I think not.
HA, you know I planned it this way!
SOTD and Eau d’Italie #4 is “Un Bateau pour Capri”.
Top: freesia, peach and peony;
Mid: jasmine, heliotrope and rose;
Base: woodsy notes, cedar and musk.
Well, I’ve worn much worse. :^)
This is okay. It doesn’t feel special and most of all it feels like “someone else’s perfume”.
“I’ve worn much worse” would be about my take on Bateau as well.
This morning I reached for Jour d’Hermes absolu, and when that wore off, sprayed on Jubilation 25 for my little boys 4th birthday party in the garden.
Nothing could ever be more exciting than a birthday party in the garden, when you’re 4. I hope you survive it all. :^D
Happy birthday little guy. I hope he had a blast!
Awww. Happy Birthday to him. 4 is a cute age-almost a real person ????
Happy Birthday to George Takei! Sulu was one of my favorite characters on ST:TOS. Mr. Takei has gone on to do some amazing work since then.
SOTD = Etro Shaal Nur, from the sample stash. I’m trying to ignore its flirtations with me…
I’m feeling better today; many thanks to the kind folks who commented yesterday. I’ve accepted Tuesday’s news, but it still is going to sting for a little while, I think. One of my favorite uncles, who was also my godfather, passed away from inoperable stomach cancer. From what I understand, he had been experiencing quite a few health issues in recent years. So I’m sad that he’s gone, but relieved that he isn’t hurting anymore.
I am very sorry to hear of your uncle. I have a few uncles I am close to, so I feel for your loss. Hugs.
Thanks, KellyC.
Oh no, I’m so very sorry Jalapeno.
Thank you, Robin.
So sorry for your loss.
Thanks, Petunia.
So sorry Jalapeno. Hugs to you.
Thanks, Elisa P.
So sorry, jalapeño. May the nice memories linger on.
Thanks, Hajusuuri.
My poor little one still has a fever so I shall take her to the doc again tomorrow if it doesn’t break first.
I am sniffing La Colle Noire for the first time which is quite nice and hoping this week…nay this year ????…improves a bit.
Oh, I hope that fever breaks sooner rather than later.
Oh no, I hope she gets better soon!
Re: La Colle Noire – I’ve come around to moving this to the more than like column, a big promotion from meh!
Having an insane day at work but will catch up on comments later. I’m in The Garden Party Frangipane by The Party.
Have doused myself in Chanel 19 edt multiple times throughout the day. The perfect perfume for many things, including packing & moving.
Note to self and others: I am thankful that 1) I learned early on to keep my perfume boxes and 2) I’ve been willing to pay extra for boxed (used/tester) bottles. Better for storage; so much easier to pack.
SotE = Infusion d’Iris EdT
Happy birthday, indeed, to George Takei.
Love Enchanted April, both the book and the movie. Very happily looking forward to catching up on everyone’s Italian perfume inspirations this week. I hope Infusion d’Iris will have a few mentions.
I reached for the Absolue when I started my “week” of Italians on Tuesday.
Iris Absolue was my fragrance of choice yesterday for the plane ride back from Vegas. Today I’m Iris-adjacent in Le Labo Iris 39 oil; I’m finding it very soothing after my day back to work.
Well, I started the day in Infusion d’Iris absolue, then tried Dame Dark Horse. This one is sooo nice. I’m trying not to consider it FB worthy. It’s a solid 4 on the Rappleyea rating system. I have a 10% off coupon from Dame, so I’m sorely tempted to indulge.
Then my Sephora order arrived, so I tried Histoires 1826 on one arm, and ELdO Remarkable People on the other. The ELdO was a blind buy, and isn’t doing much for me. My blind buy average is slowly sinking, so I probably need to quit while I’m sort of ahead!
At least they’re both returnable!
So true! I think I’ll give them each another try when I’m not so distracted by Mr. Dame. ????
