Happy Hump Day, happy World Water Day and a very happy birthday to Mr. William Shatner! What fragrance are you wearing?
I'm in good old L'Artisan Parfumeur La Chasse aux Papillons. I smell like spring, despite the cold wind howling outside my windows.
Reminder: on 3/24, wear one of your "top 10 of spring" fragrances (unless it's fall where you are, in which case wear one of your "top 10 of fall" scents)
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2017, where I'll try to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.
So cold today…winter refuses to go after a sunny, warm, beautiful day yesterday. Wearing another spring favorite: Annick Goutal Heure Exquise EdP. A gorgeous creamy, powdery green iris. So lovely, inviting and comforting! Swapmeet packages will be in the mail today….
You smell wonderful
Thank you!
Yum!
Such a lovely one, will definitely be wearing that one tomorrow or Friday.
So lovely and classy.
Lovely!
Thank you????
We are house twins today, and Heure Exquise is one of my favourite Goutals. You smell really wonderful.
We do for sure smell awesome ????
Wearing a sample of Hylands Foxglove. Not a line a ever thought about our smelled much but samples are always fun. So far seem pretty mild but might give more when the day warms up.
I really like the opening of this one and then it sort of disappears on me. Curious to hear what it does for you. I like a couple of others in the line a lot.
Angelique Noire
A new Guerlain lipstick la petite robe noire in a nice mauve color perfect for spring
That sounds lovely, I’m on the look out for new spring shades!
the lippys from the petit robe noire have a scent to them, just in case you don’t like anything right under your nose. They are more like a sheer lip balm that you can build on. I am really happy with the one I got
Thanks, I do like scented lip stick usually, I really like the mango YSL ones.
Well, March is channeling January, so……

I am a femme fatale lumberjack. Thermal underwear, flannel shirt, turquoise hoodie, beard, jeans, LouLou Cacharel.
Ah, the smell of it.! !!!
Check out Courtney Barnett, sometimes i sit and think, and sometimes i just sit.
Intelligent power pop/punk.
Triple strength coffee.
Carpe Diem. Peace.
Looking and smelling good Bear! -I do like a bit of Courtney Barnett, especially that line, good for all of us procrastinators out there.
Looking and smelling just great! And I do need a bit of triple strength coffee!
Also in need of a triple strength cofeeeeeeeee!
I would dearly love to smell LouLou on a man…it must be fabulous.
I’ve never tried LouLou but I’m sure you smell fabulous. Also I love Courtney Barnett.
Loving the turquoise hoodie with your flannel.
Thanks for the love, Everyone !!!!
Daytripping to Austin today for my friend’s birthday. Robin, I’ll trade your cold wind for our mid-80’s sun!
I picked 5-star 2007’s Missoni. Weird but cheerful.
Gosh, you’ve got a deal! Mid-80s sun is exactly what I like.
I wish it could be true. I need some snow.
Texas got extra ripped-off this winter. It’s supposed to be pushing 90 this weekend and all the tender spring flowers have been burned up too quickly. I’m not silly enough to want snow, but skipping winter AND spring is making me a little grumpy.
I forgot about Missoni. I remember liking it but never got around to buying any.
We really did get th short end of winter’s stick, didn’t we? I keep waiting for another couple of 60 degree days, but I know that’s not going to happen.
Ugh, it’s the worst.
And the fact that the bluebonnets, firewheels and pink primroses are all blooming at the same time is freaking me out 0.o
Great choice! I like the Acqua version, too. It’s fascinating how they really are orange and aqua versions of the same fragrance.
I only sprayed the aqua one in Nordstrom when it was new but it was very pretty, blinding white. I really want to try it again. The orange one isn’t true love but it’s lot of fun.
It doesn’t smell blinding white to me; maybe you’re hyperosmic to one of the musks? Worth another try if you see it, though.
I think the orange one would have been ideal for the then young Missoni daughter who inspired it, so it’s a bit young for me, but why should I let that stop me?
In Guerlain Apres l’Ondee today. Wet violet heaven!
I didn’t get enough sleep last night. Drinking lots of utilitarian coffee and eating not-so-utilitarian chocolate for allll the caffeine and sugar.
I was thinking about wearing Apres L’ondee today. Another spring favorite. You smell terrific!
always a lovely choice- scent and chocolate for breakfast
I am all for chocolate for breakfast. I confess I do that 3-4 days a week
Mmmm….that might have to be my scent for Friday. I keep forgetting about it until someone mentions it. Definitely a perfume legend.
So pretty!
Joining you in lack of sleep woes. My stupid cat would not shut up! Near constant meowing from 3-7am. UGGHHHH!
You smell beautiful, BTW.
He must have been catmunicating with mine. Hoshi was giving it all he had too.
Some kind of feline Spring Equinox shenanigans perhaps?
Hahaha if that’s the case I hope they behave at night until the fall equinox
I went searching for my small decant of this and can’t find it! Argh. You smell great!
Twins!
Goutal Grand Amour. Hyacinths and amber.
Tea: Wedding Impérial
Love Grand Amour. Had a bottle, gave it away, missed it and years later got another one
It’s lovely. One of my first Goutals and a blind buy at that. I don’t wear it as often as Heure Exquise or Songes, but when I do, I always enjoy it.
Oh that sounds amazing. I’ve been craving spring flowers!
Do try it, it’s very lovely. The edp is more rounded and had more depth than the edt.
“has” not “had”
Siblings, Robin: I am wearing L’Artisan Parfumeur Verte Violette. I find this sweet and green “cosmetic” violet strangely comforting. And it is one my spring favorites.
I’ve recently bought a FB of La Chasse aux Papillons. Lovely perfume, but I tend to associate it with summer.
Hey cousin / house twin / whatever! VV is so pretty.
It’s just too cold to whip out a spring scent today. Catherine Memmi Attitude for me. Warm, cozy, and a little bit unusual.
I’m also wearing hyacinth today, in Florist’s Fridge, by Smell Bent. One of their best.
I think that’s my favorite of theirs thus far.
FF is nice. You smell great!
I used up a 4ml mini of Florist’s Fridge and promptly bought another. Good stuff.
I could maybe wish for a tad of rose in it for verisimilitude, but it’s highly enjoyable.
Not sure what it smells like, but I love the name!
Happy 86th birthday to my space dad!! In the absence of Shirtless Kirk Eau de Parfum, I’m wearing Musc Ravageur- sure to seduce even the greenest of alien ladies!
I’ve actually given an embarrassing amount of thought to what fragrances the various Star Trek captains might wear. I like the idea of Picard in Jo Malone Earl Grey & Cucumber. Sisko needs something darkly sexy, and Janeaway’s obviously has to have a coffee note…
That’s the one with Han Solo, right?
LOLOLOL
*wags finger*
Shirtless Kirk back in the day wasn’t bad at all!
Picard is way cool, but Kirk is my jam. And you’re right, he would totally wear Musc Ravageur, off-duty or on (he’d just be wearing more when off duty).
Blasted on Gourmand Coquin, then for The Sample Sea challenge I’m testing Wrappings, Une Fleur de Cassie, and vintage Vol de Nuit. I’ll add two more later on. Y’all might get sick of my sampling reports, but until I’m in the groove and have established the habit, I’ll probably keep yapping so I’m held accountable.
Any winners in the bunch?
Une Fleur de Cassie is very pretty but had poor longevity. Wrappings is nice, but it doesn’t move me. Vol de Nuit is quite mature in that vintage kinda way, and I’m old but immature.
I think I’ll spend more time with it as it’s such a classic.
I’m glad I plunged in haphazardly, as otherwise I never would have got going, but I knew that Gourmand Coquin’s sillage would overwhelm the rest. So tomorrow, I’ll try to be a bit more methodical.
Just spritzed Vanille Tonka and Vanille Charnelle on my knees.
Holly, please keep reporting, that’s why we’re here!
Thank you!
Keep ’em coming! I’d love to hear your findings.
Thank you!
Love sampling verdicts. Keep ’em coming! I coated my hands with various samples last shortly before bed. The 3 did not go well together.
Yep, that’s always a risk, right? Honestly, I was only dabbing one sample a day and spending time with it, but having so many samples began to feel completely overwhelming and just no fun whatsoever.
Kind of how I felt, but I’ve gotten rid of a lot, and quickly. The downside of getting rid of things very quickly is taste changes. I’ve retried some of the rejects recently and really like some of them now (Sarrasins and Piguet Calypso for 2).
Absolutely! I’m sure that I’ll be passing on things that could be potential loves, and my method is completely random. It’s far from what I would normally do, but what I normally did was to accumulate samples and not even test them. What once felt like potential now feels like a burden.
Kudos to diving into your samples! Keep it up.
Thanks for your support!
I still have a cold, and my nose keeps clogging up again.
So no scent today.
So I just share this hilarious celeb ‘news’ with you:
Drake now has a tattoo of a Drakkar Noir bottle on his shoulder.
http://www.nme.com/news/music/drake-new-tattoo-drakkar-noir-2023112
Hee Hee! The artist did a good job at least.
Oh yes he did, very nicely done. Good execution. That was probably a very expensive tattoo of a cheap scent.
(btw, nothing wrong with cheap, I love cheap)
So, Drake probably smells like Drakkar Noir….(?)
It was not what I’d imagined on him haha.
But will this boost the sales of Drakkar Noir?!
Oh geez, let’s hope not.
Just saw DN in Marshalls, $9.99 for 50ml. Never wore it, never liked it. To each their own.
Doesn’t he have a song named Tuscan Leather, and it’s about the Tom Ford scent?
Now there is a tattoo waiting to happen! Not! LOL
Hahaha I want to see Tom Fords facial expression when someone tells him a rapper/r&b singer has a TF tattoo on his shoulder.
I dont care for DN either. But I am kinda curious if a celebrity ”endorsement’ like this will amp up the sales. And I have this prejudice about Drake’s male fanbase, that it consists of guys that wear One million…sorry if I have offended a Drake fan along the way…
I am in all day training on 2017 tax changes in Canada, so wearing the always appropriate Chanel 22 EDT.
It is going to be a long day.
Hey Twin. I hope No. 22 helps keep you focused.
UGH. God, that sounding numbing. At least you smell on point.
It is rough, but I have to keep up to date on this stuff. Thank an accountant today, we absorb a lot of boring to know out facts.
I will certainly thank an accountant today! I wish you sharp and focused wits today and sunshine!
My late husband was a CA and an Accounting professor at WLU, and wrote lots of accounting textbooks. When our kids were babies and would not sleep, one of us would read his books to them and they would immediately nod off. Accountants are rock stars in my family, though.
I wish my husband was an accountant. He does my taxes and I get audited by CRA every freaking year. Sigh.
Almost wore that today but opted for something warmer. You smell beautiful!
William Shatner was a hottie back in the day! (He’s still awesome today, but look at that sexy grin on his face above!)
SOTD: Mon Guerlain. I was so excited to get my Scentbird sample in the mail last night! First impression: I really like it. Not sure I LOVE it, but I do really like it. The sugary vanilla is prominent on my skin; I don’t really get the “lemon candy” that Robin described in the top notes. Good stuff! This one is going sell like gangbusters….
Midweek YouTube review of Moschino Fresh Couture! This is my first full on GEEK OUT on my channel, and the direction I want my channel to go!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k7w8VGIhiKY
I just watched your video. Loved it
And, loved your wardrobe !!
Awesome video review!
I’m enjoying your channel.
And yeah. Young Bill was quite the thing.
I can’t wait to try Mon Guerlain. My husband got me Scentbird for Valentine’s Day, so I’ve already put that one next in my queue to try.
I LOVE LOVE LOVE Scentbird! It’s such a good way to try perfumes without making expensive mistakes! LOL Plus, it’s a generous sample for $14.95….sometimes it’s less expensive per ml than a full size bottle would be!
I am also getting the lavender in Mon Guerlain, not such much the bergamot. It’s really nice!
(Googles Scentbird)
Love your channel! I bought Moschino Fresh Couture for my mom because of the packaging. She is always cleaning! It sits on the vanity next to her Opium, Shalimar, and Joy.
I’m looking forward to watching your latest video tonight – I’m really enjoying your videos, kepp up the good work!
Great job! That was fun.
Nice video, JadainGA !
One suggestion, I would have enjoyed seeing you spray the bottle.
The ‘cleaning spray mechanism’ is just a cap, correct ?
If you remove it there is a normal perfume spray – yes, no ?
Or does it spray just like Windex ?
Cheers !!
Shams Narcissus from Memo–narcissus for spring but weighty enough to go with the not-as-nice-as-yesterday weather
That sounds really nice, and I have been pleased with everything I bought from Memo.
I’m wearing Shalimar Cologne from 2015. This really is pretty and I got it for under $40 online.
Great stuff. You smell lovely!
You smell terrific!
I’m in a spring favorite today, Le Galion Iris. The wonderful hajusuuri introduced me to this one a while back – it’s a little metallic and a little carrot-y up top, but then settles into gentle iris loveliness.
Nice!
Nice +1 !
On my third day of First, in EDP today and plenty of it.
Lovely!
3 days I think qualifies as a signature scent! I have a mini of First and think it’s lovely.
In bed with horrible cold, such a luxury to be allowed to be ill! Hubby’s working from home today, so he did the school run, and I had such a lovely sleep this morning.
My sense of smell is still here, and so wearing one of my two favourite ‘cold/flu’ perfumes, Seville a L’Aube. The other one is Azemour les Oranges. It’s a very wet, stormy day, so I’m feeling extra grateful to be snotty and sneezy at home, and not outside.
I hope you feel better soon. Enjoy Seville. That is another spring beauty!
Nice of your hubby to let you sleep! Feel better soon.
Feel better!
At least you know you smell lovely even if you can’t smell because of your cold
Feel better!
Enjoy your day of rest and olfactory vitamin C, and I hope you feel better soon!
Aww. Feel better!
Hope you feel better soon!
Thanks so much everyone, u guys are so kind!
Good thing your hubby was able to help this morning. Feel better!
Hope you feel better soon!
Good morning! We had a hailstorm last night, so everything is wrecked leaves and flowers today–a little bit of De Profundis felt appropriate.
You smell great!
Ohh, that IS exactly the right scent for a post-storm morning.
You smell beautiful.
So lovely. The perfume, not the debris!
Ugh, hate spring hail! Hope you did not lose anything not easily replaceable.
I’m wearing Houbigant Quelques Fleurs L’Original
I love this one, you smell great! I’m thinking I need to try Quelques Fleurs Royale some time too.
House twin! (I’m in Orangers en Fleurs.)
Went to a town budget meeting last night. I am wearing No 22 in hopes that it will help me stay awake today.
You smell wonderful. 22 will make your day more bearable and sunnier!
No 22 is gorgeous
You smell great twin!!
It does have a bright wake-me-up feel to it. Hope it works!
Good Morning!
1) In Eau Premiere, which is pretty darn perfect.
2) OOTD: Pink shirt, new grey slim cut trousers, silver leather brogues that I have not worn in a while. There is a tiny window for sunshine this am- only about 2 or so hours- so will take an early break to look at all the tender new flowers on campus.
Agreed, Eau Premiere is just never wrong. Sometimes I want something else, but that’s not Eau Premiere’s fault.
Yes! It’s my staple honestly, and feel kinda guilty given the expense, but it’s so lovely!
You smell beautiful! I love Eau Premiere so much more than L’eau, personally.
I like L’eau- it’s very much a lovely and delicate skin scent but honestly Eau is where it is at.
Pink and grey, always a good combo.
You smell wonderful and look marvelous as well.
Oh gosh! Thanks!
I’ve got that nasty cold that seems to be making the rounds as well. Ugh. It went from Horrible Hacking Cough to Nose Running Like Faucet to Sinus Headache So Bad My WHOLE FACE Hurt, and today is The Throat of a Thousand Knives. Still can’t smell anything, but I must say it’s a step up from yesterday’s face pain. Ow.
Happy birthday to Bill Shatner! My favorite Jim Kirk quote, in this 63-second clip from “Wrath of Khan”: “I don’t like to lose.” https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b9dEI-Ru1CI
It’s a brilliant scene (and cruelly foreshadows the final act), and Kirstie Alley never looked lovelier, honestly.
It is a great scene. I mean, yeah, Star Trek, not Shakespeare, and yet there’s a depth to Wrath of Khan not generally found in sci-fi movies.
Oh no! I hope you feel better very soon!
Thanks. I will cautiously express the hope that I’m on the upswing.
Wow! You’re a trooper if “the throat of 1,000 knives” is considered the upswing! I hope you feel a whole lot better than that soon!
Oh gads, that sounds like a horrid (though wonderfully phrased) cold! I hope tomorrow it’s the Calm Return of Wellbeing and Restfulness!
Thank you!
Hope you feel better. Out of the options of listed miseries, I’ll have to vote Throat of a Thousand Knives to be the worst.
Fell better soon!
Ugh. It sounds like an entire year’s worth of that virus. Hope you feel better soon!
Did not even know something was going around. Knocking on wood and wishing you a speedy recovery….
Yow! I think I agree with Elisa P on which of your symptoms sounded most horrible. Get better ASAP!
I hope you feel better very soon! That sounds like the same bug that’s been going around my family. It will be a miracle if I manage to fight it off, but I’m doing my best.
It feels very much like winter where I am today, so Safran Troublant is keeping me warm and cozy.
Mmm…I love that one on cold days.
Since winter refuses to leave our area, I have been wearing CdG Incense Series fragrances. Today I chose Jaisalmer.
Love it, you smell wonderful!
I can still detect it although I sprayed it 7 1/2 hours ago. I love incense.
SOT-morning is Diptyque Eau Rose, very springy pastel pink. Might add some AG Rose Splendide later.
Buurrrr today! Very cold with the wind in full force.
Can’t do the spring scents just yet, but very happy to wear a few dabs of Bois Des Iles parfum. This dries down to such a gorgeous scent!
Hopefully by Friday I can join the project with a spring scent.
This is a no-eye-makeup kind of windy day. My eyes tear so badly!
Exactly! Good way to put it.
I’m wearing makeup but went straight to the ladies room to clean my face up when I got in.
Definitely a day for waterproof eye makeup.
I have yet to find a waterproof mascara that does still leave dark circles around my eyes. If you know of one, please share!
Hi ELISA. I always had this problem too and I tried every mascara I came across and they all left me with raccoon eyes after a couple of hours until I discovered tubing mascara. It applies the same as regular mascara but it forms little tubes around the lash with are washed off with water not makeup remover. The one I use is Clinique Lash Power but lots of brands have a tubing mascara I just don’t know the names of any others. It does flake off a bit sometimes but I can just brush the flakes off. If you want to find others though you’d be better to google it and check out makeup alley as I find sales assistants don’t often know a lot about the products they’re selling and if you ask at a counter you are likely to get a blank stare!
I saw William Shatner in his autobiographic one-man show “It’s Shatner’s World – We Just Live in It” in DC a year or two ago. He was wonderful, incredibly powerful, by turns heart-breakingly touching and vaudeville-slapstick hilarious. I realized I like Shatner even better than Kirk.
FYI, William Shatner’s 2013 “Get a Life!” can be streamed free on Amazon Prime now.
I don’t watch almost anything these days (it takes away my reading time), but I’m considering watching this. Thank you!
It’s only 58 minutes! I know, I almost never watch anything but I’m planning to watch this myself tonight.
He’s in my neck of the woods quite a lot – I think he has a farm here. I often see him in a restaurant quite near where I live. He was blocking the aisle one time and I had to scoot past him and realized he’s about my height – 5’2″!
Happy hump day! Today I’m trying to hasten spring with Jacomo Silences. It smells like melting ice and bulbs pushing through last year’s leaves, at least I think it does.
Happy Birthday to William Shatner!
I love Silences.
Ditto.
SotD: CB:IHP Black March–wet earth and the beginnings of spring.
S(ip)otD: MF The de Paques–black tea, lemony citrus, and caramel.
I have read about this one several times, I need to get my hands on a sample. Your tea is delicious, and I’m sure you smell wonderful!
So good!
You smell perfect! Maybe I’ll wear that tomorrow.
Your tea sounds wonderful.
Wearing by Kilian Straight to Heaven EXTREME. lol. I snagged a sample from my SA. shhh. I haven’t done a side by side with the original but I’ve been really enjoying it today. Marine layer again this morning so it’s cozy with lots of woody rum and vanilla.
Sounds good, need to check these out!
I almost went with La Chasse Aux Papillons, but the cool, rainy weather was asking for something a bit warmer and richer. So, I’m in Tabac Tabou, applied via the spray-into-the-air-and-walk-into-the-cloud method. I find it a bit too big when sprayed directly on my skin, but this is just right — I feel like I have a sheer golden veil around me.
Yum Tabac Tabou! And yes it works pretty good in rainy weather.
It’s a fairly cold day in Cleveland but I am in vintage Chamade today. I have plenty of Chamade but have no clue on why I don’t wear it.
Be still my heart. Vintage Chamade is so achingly beautiful and I could get lost in it.
Chamade is gorgeous. Lucky you!
My sotd is J. Lo Still. Perfume is such an expensive habit, so I love a good cheapy. It’s pretty, light, and floral, which is exactly what I want!
I just ordered Jessica Simpson Fancy Nights lol. A good cheapy is a great thing!
I love the celebrity scent market for that. A lot of them are crap, but a lot of designer stuff is crap, too. I got Eau de Gaga for $9.99 and I wear it more than a lot of stuff that’s way more expensive.
A cheap thrill is always awesome!!
I’m more of a Spock girl at heart, but happy birthday, Mr Shatner!
Wearing TDC Tokyo Bloom, one of my favourite spring-summer scents. Also (I know I keep saying that), UNDERRATED. That dandelion note is fantastic.
Yay for dandelion notes! A totally underrated flower, if you ask me. I love CB’s I Am A Dandelion.
Yes! CB scents are difficult to get here, but I Am Dandelion is one (of many) that I’d love to try.
It is fantastic! I got some last year on your recommendation and fell in love. Perfect for spring and hot summer days.
This fills me with deep satisfaction. If I do nothing else useful in my life, at least I’ve brought you and Tokyo Bloom together.
So how do you really feel about it?
+ 1 for Spock!
Tokyo Bloom is NOT underrated. I like it, and that’s what counts, isn’t it?
I are of course quite right.
I got my Sens Unique box yesterday and it’s all leathers this month! I’m so excited. I don’t know if anything could possibly be better that my Cuir de Russie, L’eau Scandaleuse, 1740, or Galop, but I’m certainly game to let them all try.
Today’s is Carner Barcelona Cuirs, which I am liking- the saffron note is a crest supporting cast measure. Yesterday I tried Evody Cuir Blanc, which just read iris and sweetness on my skin.
I really like Cuirs and think it goes in the underrated pile! It’s so calming to me.
I think I will be using up this sample but probably not buying a full bottle- it is really lovely but just not special enough, you know? I can’t imagine reaching for this over Galop very often, which is my current “comfort” leather.
Galop is much rosier to me, but mainly like many other Hermes perfumes it gives me the slight queasies. So more Cuirs for me and more Galop for you!
I generally love leathers, but after just sniffing briefly on paper, none of them seemed to capture my heart.
I have high hopes for the Curis Garamante, but for a box of leathers that specifically calls out S&M clubs in the intro, theses tend surprisingly tame.
these*
Bvlgari Omnia. This week the parents are coming to my preschool music classes to see what the kids have been doing all year so it’s even more of a performance than usual. Sticking to the tried and true. Back to sampling over the weekend, and hoping for some spring temperatures.
Break a leg, then!
As I wrote above, cravings spring flowers. Trying out a sample of Ciel this morning and really liking it so far.
Happy Birthday to William Shatner!
What a hero Captain Kirk still is.
Atelier Philtre Ceylon seemed right for this cold day. It’s tea and some cumin- probably would be Kirk approved.
Happy birthday, Captain Kirk! Nobody can chew up the scenery like Mr. Shatner
YAWN, still: wow, it poured hard overnight. Another inch of rain. Bigger storm forecast for Friday. Rain, rain, GO AWAY!
Continuing Tom Ford week here: SOTD is Bois Marocain – for you, Laura
SO true (about chewing up the scenery).
Love TOS, especially when Kirk was in full passionate speech mode. I babysat a ten year old kid when I was a senior in High School and took him to a Star Trek convention in downtown Oakland. It was in the ’70s so all of them were there. Kirk, Spock, McCoy, Scotty, Uhura, etc… Great fun.
Cold here. Pulling out the Ostara.
Always a good decision!
I am slowly working my way through a sample pack from The World of Oud. Today is Almond. They smell wonderful, but have NO staying power and for the outrageous price tag per bottle, that is unacceptable.
BUT on todays note, I got to meet Mr. Shatner once and he is a riot! That over the top persona is no performance. LOL He is an engaging story teller and is just magnetic. There’s a reason why some people are stars, they have a force to them that is hard to resist. He is a star! Maybe not a great actor, but a star. So Happy Birthday Mr Shatner.
It is cold again today, and I am wearing a gold and black Hermes scarf so I chose Ambre de Marveilles. Mmm.
I bet your scarf is lovely!
I have another one with perfume bottles on it.
Me too! It’s mostly pink and blue with bottles all over it.
Twins!
It’s chilly again here today after 2 days in the 80s. I’m in Bois Satin (thanks so a sweet NSTer). Vanilla and saffron and ambery goodness. About to reapply as I want another burst of the mandarin in the opening. You all smell wonderful today!
It’s a cool-ish, overcast morning and I am wearing Wit. I originally thought this was a summer floral, but when I wore it in 80F temps it was too sweet and cloying. It’s lovely today.
I’ve swollen glands and a low grade fever…fighting something off…with a little help from Puredistance White.
Feel better!
That should do the trick!
Good luck!
oh my! Feel better
After my AN wore off I put on some Coco and headed out into the cold. Thanks again!
Hope you manage to fight it off. I use echinacea with goldenseal tincture to help my immune system.
Ick. That sounds awful. Got any vitamin C handy?
You smell great. Feel better!
Happy water day and thinking about all the rivers that have been lost or destroyed as a result of intensive farming, irrigation and pollution…so that’s a cheery thought! Perfume comparison day. Number 1 : JM Myrrh and tonka vs. Zadig &Voltaire ( Him and Her) vs. JM Mimosa and Cardamon. I think the Z&V stands up well, though I think I like Mimosa and Cardamon best (and Myrrh and Tonka least).
Interesting comparison. I didn’t care for the Mimosa & Cardamom and haven’t smelled the Z&V. I do love Myrrh & Tonka though.
I don’t really know what I think…thinking is so hard! My main problem with JM Myrrh and tonka is that it makes me a bit wheezy. But that is probably due to quantity. Z&V are both much louder than the JM. They are to JM what Poison Girl is to Hypnotic Poison. Or, maybe I shouldn’t wear four perfumes at once?
Too windy! Glad I had the foresight this time not to bother trying to make my hair look presentable.
Happy Birthday Shatner! I have really gotten immense pleasure from his song covers, my favorite being his rendition of that Pulp song Common People ????
Cuir de Lancome today. Warm and savory. I dig it.
Most days I hide my hair under a hat
I wore the completely wrong perfume yesterday and ended up very grouchy about it.
Today I am enjoying a huge, glowing cloud of Opardu, which couldn’t possibly make me grumpy. Did I get as close as humanly possible to over applying? Yes. Yes, I did.
Spray with abandon! Especially Opardu! Too much of a good thing is just enough!
Isn’t it funny how the wrong perfume can make you grumpy? My husband often accuses me of having low blood sugar when I get grumpy BUT I think it might just be the 4pm perfume slump???
Now that you mention it, that particular kind of irrational irritablilty is common to both blood sugar crashes and annoying perfume. I was keeping my strength up with oatmeal cookies, though, so I know it was the perfume.
Its not that I don’t like the fragrance I wore (Monserrat), it just wasn’t AT ALL what I was craving and it was going all super-tart screechy fake fruit on me. It might be a while before I wear it again.
Twins! And I over sprayed with abandon
Very good day to all of you. I’ve woken in a rather better humour than I was in yesterday, but sadly, the bug-let has flexed and grown a bit, so I’m rather off colour. Not green and nauseous, more a clammy off-white with ominous portents of worse to come. I am breakfasting on a tablespoon of hot water with a teaspoon of cognac in it, my mother’s infallible cure for upsets of all sorts, and I shall work at home in case this is a sociable bug that’s looking for more friends to visit. I’m wearing Cristalle, for its clean, focused purity, and wonderful to relate, it’s helping quite a lot. I’ll work until I can’t, I think, and then I’ll deal with whatever comes next. Rest easy: I won’t report back!
Be very well, NSTites everywhere, or at least better than I am!
Look after yourself – Cristalle is bound to help!
Blech, do get better! (and boy, lots of illness here today.)
You smell fab
Feel better
Yech! Rest up. I hope the bug takes the hint and leaves quickly.
Hope you feel perkier soon. (Use the day to write a letter of resignation! )
SOTD is “Méroé” from Teo Cabanel.
Top: bergamot, mandarin, lemon, lavender and basil;
Mid: neroli, jasmine and nutmeg;
Base: musk, amber and woody notes.
Pleasant citrus cologne with a flowery facet. I won’t be swiping right. (Or left, whichever, how would I know?) :^)
I am very fond of Meloe, but a friend of mine said it smells like fancy shampoo. I see her point, but I like it anyway
My notes from that one read just “3/5 It’s fine but this bores me”
And this would have been exactly what I wanted, like, four months ago. I’ve gotten spoilt so fast! I blame all you lovely people for turning me on to so many fascinating scents.
Revisiting another neglected item in the collection, I decided to go with Marni Rose today.
Yum! That would be a good one to keep at work since I always overlook it at home.
Happy Hump Day to all of you perfumistas!
Well, I will start off with my good news. I have been going through sooo much lately and was just told recently that I could possibly have breast cancer. Last week I had to undergo a biopsy and several tests. Today, I had an appointment to meet with my doctor and discuss my test results. Well, my doctor called me on my cell this morning and left a message. She said that she was going over my results and that it was good news. She went on to say there was no reason for me to come in unless I just really wanted to see them. But, she was calling to save me a trip! Yes! Yes! Yes! Finally some good news! I feel that you guys know so much about me and feel like family, I just had to share this with you!
My SOTD is Lovely by Sarah Jessica Parker. This was a blind buy for me (it was 1/2 off and I couldn’t pass that up), but it got pretty good comments on NST and other sites. So, I tried my luck and I won! I love it. It doesn’t seem to last long on me and reminds me of a softer version of Narsico Rodriguez. Anyone feel the same about it?
Such GOOD NEWS, I’m so happy for you! That’s wonderful, and it’s so great that you shared it with us on NST.
You smell lovely in Lovely.
Wonderful news!
1. Hoorayyyyy!!! What wonderful news. Phew!
2. Totally agree re: Lovely. I love NR For Her EdP, and Lovely is a soft, blurry version. Both so pleasent and wearable.
Also in Lovely today – we smell great!
YAY!
Your news gave me happy shivers! I’m so happy for you, and I hope everything else turns around too.
Wonderful news! Very decent of your doc to put your mind to rest AND save you the trip.
Yay! That’s such great news, and I know how relieved you feel. I hope you will celebrate!
That’s great news!
I am so happy to hear your good new!
Good news!
Oh how wonderful! I’m so happy for your good news.
FANTASTIC NEWS!!!! What a relief to get news like that!
And Lovely is beautiful…one of my very first buys when I started down the perfumery road!
Congratulations on the good news, reason to celebrate indeed!
GREAT news, whoohoo!
So happy for you!
Very good news! What a relief!
The best kind of phone call. Hope life takes a happier turn from now on!
Thanks Everyone! You guys are awesome!
Thank you for sharing your wonderful news. What a relief! And you smell fantastic!
So happy for you! Phew!!
What a relief! I’ve had the pleasure of having one of those phone calls and the feeling of unreality and joy (because I am a huge pessimist and always brace myself for the worst) is impossible to describe.
That is such great news! So glad for you. Nice of your Doctor to let you know without having to go in.
Lovely is a great fragrance, one of my favorites. It was a successful blind buy for me as well, I find it very subtle and relaxing. I remember seeing SJP discussing Lovely on Late Night with David Letterman when she was a guest. It must have been around the time it came out. She mentioned there is quite a bit of lavender in it; Dave told her she smelled fantastic; you do too.
Great news! +1 FB for you!
The original Star Trek is still the best! I have no idea what James T Kirk would wear, but I’ll celebrate William Shatner’s birthday with one of my favourites, Rose de Petra.
You smell awesome!
Don’t you think they look like the Wiggles? I suppose Star Trek came first
Beautiful!
SJP Lovely again. It’s my go-to these days. Good news is I don’t get tired of it, at least, haven’t yet.
Darn work fragrance ban. I would be wearing Hermes Kelly Caleche.
SotD = the remnants of L’Heure Bleue from yesterday evening.
I had a haircut this morning and my stylist asked what I was wearing. Made my day + an extra big tip for her. Win-win.
You smell great! I wore L’Heure Bleue yesterday.
Thanks! I think it was your wearing of L’Heure Bleue on Tuesday that prompted me. I should wear it more often.
Getting a compliment just makes your day, doesn’t it.. I love L’Heure Bleu; you smell fantastic!
Fantastic is the right word for L’Heure Bleue.
After some discussion about it the other day, I pulled out Guerlain Idylle today. I do rather like it as a nice office-friendly scent. Alas, no signs of spring here yet…rain forecast for as long as they can forecast
“Denny Crane!” A very happy birthday to Mr. Shatner.
Inspired by Glannys yesterday, my SOTD is Houbigant Orangers en Fleurs.
Have a great day, all.
Pretty!
No spring scent for me today, since winter came roaring back in overnight. The cold wind is still rattling the windows of the house this afternoon. Bleh. SOTD = the original Agent Provocateur EdP, from a sample that is almost gone.
I’ve been wanting to try that one. Do you enjoy it?
Yes, very much… I have it on the “getta bottle” list. It’s a chypre rose, or rose chypre on my skin. I would advise against buying this one blind, though, even if bottles are crazy cheap.
More rain this morning in San Diego, but it seems to have cleared up a bit, although more is expected tomorrow.
Feeling stressed this morning thinking about all the unpleasantness in the world, so I reached for Iris Nazarena, which is soothing.
I’ve been in Seville a L’Aube again today for lunch with friends. It was just too cold and windy for a Spring scent.
Have a great evening all!
SOTD = Puredistance Opardu
Lilac overload in the nicest way possible. Perfect for spring although not necessarily office-grinch, fragrance-free workplace safe.
I have a very important meeting tomorrow for which only No. 19 EDP or 31RC is appropriate. In attendance will be a person who is one heartbeat away from the CEO and his management team. Wish me luck!
Good luck with your meeting tomorrow!
Thank you, dear.
Best of Luck Hajusuuri!! I will be elegant no doubt in either choice. I am sure the meeting will go well for you, you are always so well prepared!!
Ha – that should say You will be…. I abhor spellcheck!
