Guerlain Mon Guerlain ~ new perfume

Posted by Robin on 18 February 2017 13 Comments

Guerlain Mon Guerlain

Guerlain has launched Mon Guerlain, a new fragrance for women. Mon Guerlain will be fronted by actress Angelina Jolie.

The fresh oriental fragrance enhances exceptional raw materials: carla lavender from Provence, sambac jasmine from India, album sandalwood from Australia and vanilla tahitensis from Papua New Guinea. It expresses the quintessence of a history replete with experiences, nourished by success, expertise and generosity, all infused with the same passion since 1828.

The "quadrilobe" bottle, created in 1908, established itself as one of Guerlain's iconic bottles. Simple and graphic, it echoes an alchemist's bottle and owes its name "quadrilobe" to its stopper, which is formed from one piece to obtain a shape resembling four lobes. One century later, beautifully enhanced by a luxurious glass weight and a golden adornment, this bottle offers a contrast between strong taut lines and sensual curves, expressing contemporary femininity.

Additional notes include bergamot, paradisone (Firmenich molecule; radiant floral), coumarin and iris.

Guerlain Mon Guerlain is available now at Bloomingdales, $124 for 100 ml Eau de Parfum.

Mon Guerlain travel size

Update: Mon Guerlain is described by Guerlain as "My invisible tattoo, my fragrance, Mon Guerlain." It was developed by perfumers Thierry Wasser and Delphine Jelk. It will be available in 15 ml in travel retail, and elsewhere in 30, 50 and 100 ml in the quadrilobe bottle. It can also be purchased directly from Guerlain in 250 and 500 ml in the Guerlain bee bottle. There will also be body products and a matching candle.

They talk more about the history of the company and the bottle than the perfume itself. Not really a good sign. Lavender, Jasmine, Sandalwood, Vanilla. Hmmm.

According to Monsieur Guerlain, it is identical or nearly identical to Mon Exclusif, which is now discontinued. If that helps any.

Ah, is that the one where you label your own bottle?
I have smelled that and thought it was ok, I will give this one a try.
Ms Jolie is the new front woman…I wonder if they will remake another Shalimar video. That is by far, my favorite perfume ad.

Yes, that one, with the stickers.

Sounds good, no musk, and very reasonable price. I’ll put it on the “to try” list, (although there are scents on it that have been on it so long that they have since been dq’ed!).

I would bet all my money there is musk.

I love the bottle, and for that price, it does seem well worth a try!

I loved it! This from the cynic who cried death of modern perfumery. Or some such. Anyway, to my nose Mon Guerlain smells like an upgrade of L’Instant de Guerlain or the more recent L’Homme Ideal EDP. And yes, there is musk, but it’s not the terribly sanitised variety. Adding that the sharper notes are more pronounced on paper as the skin (my skin) cushions them into soft and creamy ones. Actually, smelling it now from the blotter I can see a resemblance to Brit EDP.

De nada! Of course, I had to go try it again and I swear the opening smells exactly like Eclix!

Ok, that’s compelling! But everything else I’ve read about it has been negative, esp. in regards to the white musk.

I think at this point there’s no escaping the dreaded white musk, is there? The good thing about MG, to my nose at any rate, is that it smells good and rich (which doesn’t necessarily mean that it *is* rich, if you know what I mean). And I’ll take white musk over cashmeran — or whatever that horrid molecule they’re dumping into most masculines these days is called — any time.
