It's Treat Friday! Our community project for today: wear a fragrance that reminds you of candy. (Thanks to Happy888cat for the suggestion!)
What fragrance did you pick? As always, do chime in with your scent of the day even if you’re not participating in the community project.
I'm in Serge Lutens Rahät Loukoum. I do smell delicious.
Reminder: 11/4 will be Peace Out Friday: wear a fragrance that brings / gives peace. Suggested by Lovestosmellgood.
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2016, where I'll try to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.
Note: Brach's Mellocreme Pumpkins are $6 for 22 oz at Candy Warehouse.
Brown Sugar & Fig Body Wash over Warm Vanilla Sugar Body Lotion topped off with Pink Sugar EDT- a walking talking stick of cotton candy is what I am!
Poor Man’s Tea- Newman’s Own Organic Green paired with Celestial Seasonings Candy Cane Lane
You smell sweet as…well….sugar!!! 🙂
Mmmmmm. Turkish Delight. Cousins today Robin – Traversee du Bosphore from a 15ml mini. There is definitely going to be a full size bottle of this in my near future…
Oh, so we are!! And I thought about doing that one. Maybe tomorrow I will join you 🙂
Molinard Vanille Marine. Smells like sea air and caramel.
Sounds yummy! I wonder if it smells similar to David’s Salted Caramel tea, which I’d describe in exactly the same way.
Finally Friday! Wearing the yummy, yummy Jo Malone Bitter Orange and Chocolate from the swapmeet (thanks Sapphire!) I am so sad that this was a limited edition because I would replace the bottle over and over. It opens with a blast of bitter peel orange (so delicious) dipped in dark chocolate. Unfortunately, the orange note does not last too long, but the chocolate note stays from the beginning to the end. The drydown is a soft cocoa powder, which is wonderful. This fragrance is not too sweet. It has a very moderate sillage but great longevity. I sprayed it at 5am and still going 4 hours later.
I have a decant of this that I really enjoy.
Have you tried the new orange bitters? (no chocolate, but might be similar? I’m not sure as I never tried Bitter Orange and Chocolate).
No, I have not tried it. Making a note to get a sample.
I went from one sniff to a large sample in 30 seconds 🙂
Glad you’re enjoying it! ????
Elixir Charnel Gourmand Coquin
I smell like a sweet treat!
Tea is The du Tigre the smokiest of smoked teas
Wishing everyone a fun weekend of Halloween parties and those who celebrate Happy Diwali
Wish I had that bottle here with me to wear, it’s a favorite.
Happy Diwali to you and your family!
you smell great!
Diwali Mubarek (or happy Diwali in case you aren’t Gujarati)!
Thanks all!
<3
Treat FriYAY!!! Happy to have made it this far, this week! LOL! (It’s been a tough week, for some reason!) 🙂
SOTD has already been scrubbed! Hilde Di Soliani Crema Di Latte. Smelled EXACTLY of Milkfuls Candy (one of my faves), or a spoonful of Eagle Brand Sweetened Condensed Milk.
Interesting….My 2 girls LOVE it. I LOVE it. My hubby mentioned how terrible it is, and he never has an opinion one way or another. When I got to work, my 2 male coworkers immediately hated it! (The Perfume Grinch nearly gagged.) A nurse who was watching all this perfumery interaction smelled my arm and announced that she hated it too! HA HA HA So I scrubbed it off, and shall be scent naked henceforth for the rest of the day…..
Subjective thing, perfume…is it not? I shall happily wear my sample when I’m alone…. 🙂
How funny!! I have not tried it but sounds similar to Demeter Condensed Milk.
Everybody sing !
I’m hot, sticky sweet, from my head to my feet. – C’yeah!
Lait Sucre CSP – caramel, milky sweet. Fading fast, but I did want to receive my participation award! LOL
Pour some sugar on mmmmeeeee…..
Carpe Diem y’all! 😀
😀
Love it 😀
The day always improves when Def Leppard is mentioned. Thanks!
Good one Bear, but you seem more Montrose “Rock Candy” to me. Rock on!
Oh ! That is good too !
Nice shout-out lillyjo!
And thanks to everyone !
Rock……………………..ON !! 😉
I’m wearing Vero Profume Rubj (extrait) and reeling from an unexpected perfume-based tragedy. I went into my stash yesterday to fish out something for today’s challenge; pulled out my prized DSH Scent of Hope bottle and.. and… it was all gone! evaporated! I’ve worn it only once after I got it. I don’t know if I didn’t close the stopper correctly, or it didn’t fit properly, or evil demons came in the night and opened it; all that’s left in the bottle are some crystals and an oily residue. I’m heartbroken! (All those reviews and posts on DSH new releases on the site today aren’t helping either.)
And it was quite a challenge to get this bought and shipped from the US that I don’t know if I can go through the whole thing again.
So Rubj is soothing my sorrows today.
I am so sorry – what a nightmare for a perfumista! I’m going to go give my bottles a hug.
I hope all of yours ans safe and snug!
How horrid, but Rubj should be able to help somewhat I hope.
Oh it’s lovely in its own right – and I’m not going to hoard it any more; since perfume can just disappear at any time!
I’ve had some bottles and decants dry out or turn foul and it’s so awful, but an object lesson every time it happens: don’t hoard, but love and enjoy what you have while you have it.
Oh no!!!! Could you put in a couple drops of ethanol (neutral vodka?) to redissolve those crystals? It won’t smell the same, but maybe you could get some good notes out of it! That’s so sad 🙁 How big was the bottle?
15 ml. Thanks – I’ll try the ethanol trick. I’ve no idea how long it’s been like that, but who knows… The box and the packing paper still smell nice though.
My condolences 🙁
Gosh, it’s the right time of the year for scary stories, isn’t it?..
Yep!
How awful! I am so sorry. At least you have the gorgeous Rubj to console you.
RIP???? My Fracas parfum mini is receding. I think you may be onto something with your evil demon theory. Some good smelling demons out there.
I’m going to spend my weekend wrapping parafilm on ALL the bottles with glass stoppers! Not a drop shall go to the demons.
Good idea. I think I’ll try that, too.
Another thing you can do is transfer them into Boston round screw-top bottles, they are very airtight.
You smell great!
I’m so sorry! The DSH perfumes evaporate. I put parafilm, which I got on EBay, around all of the samples and bottles and I think it has helped. I lost the Giverny in Bloom discovery collection.
Oh no! Stupid demons.
So sorry, tippie. A Halloween trick by those dastardly demons. ????
Encens et Bubblegum–the last of a sample. Still pleasant and amusing, still don’t need at fb.
Drinking some South co-op Ceylon from Upton.
You smell great. I completely agree. I think it’s so fun and well done, but didn’t strike me as something I needed to own.
I am wearing Il Profvmo Chocolat body oil. I always forget how much I love this, it is beyond delicious.
Ohhh – I love their scents, and must go look at the oils right now.
Wow, didn’t know they had oils. Sounds yummy.
WOW. You smell awesome.
Tauer Rose Oil under Rose flash. I smell like candied rose petals.
Enabling alert *Tauer has introduced an Amber body oil. Same price as the rose*
I MAY have ordered one as well as a refill of my almost empty rose.
Ooh! Please report back on the amber that you might have ordered.
Ah, good to know, will send that out on Twitter! Thanks.
OMG. Well…I’m already in the process of getting a bottle of the rose oil. I’ll see if I can tack on the amber oil 🙂 Finger crossed!
Hi Koyel! Fancy meeting you here in the Tauer Online Shop! How’s the No Buy going? :^)
Laughed out loud when I read that 🙂
Hee! Hee! But there are just too many temptations…especially when reading others’ comments….
lolol!
THAT ISN’T FAIR. Body oils don’t count!!! I am not buying perfume!
My 100 mL samples don’t count either 😉
Right. It’s a toiletry, like toothpaste!
oh no! oh no!
I mean that in a sarcastic way..
Please do tell us if you end up getting the Amber oil!
Sitting on my hands
No way!! Thank you for the hot tip – where was it announced?
His Facebook page, as I just learned today!
Thank you for the heads-up! I’m not even waiting for reviews, I’m ordering it immediately 😀
I did too.
I am on the farrr East Coast of Canada, so it was still the middle of the night in most places when I read it.
I love the rose one so much, I didn’t even hesitate
hannahmom, you’re earning your enabler crown, not just a pin! 🙂
Heading over to Andy’s site because I.Must.Have.It.And.It.Will.Be.Mine!
Well, I have caved to enablers on this site many times, so I guess it was time to lead others astray 🙂
Oh no! I wonder if his site will crash with all of us rushing over there 😉 .
In other good news, he posted on his blog that he will be selling 2 glycerine soaps in the next couple of weeks: tuberose, and mandarine ambrée. His soaps are highly perfumed and wonderful.
Aargh. Can hardly wait.
OMG…you guys are killing me….are you really trying to break my no buy resolve 🙂 ????
Oh my. Gorgeous. I have both and will have to try. I am wearing amber flash which for me is soo delicious.
I am going to be craving a lot of sweets after reading everyone’s scents today! In fact, I think I may ask my husband to bring me home some turkish delight tonight. I’m wearing Gaultier 2, which has an opening that smells exactly like Grape Bubblicious gum to me. Yesterday I got bit by a cat at work, and had to go to the hospital for iv antibiotics, so tonight I just want to eat sweets and relax.
I have known several people who needed grip antibiotics after a cat bite. Their bites are nasty and so prone to infection.
*drip*
That’s what the ER doctor said. I felt a little silly getting the IV, but felt it was payback for all the vaccines I’ve given cats.
You smell delicious. Relax and feel better!
Thanks!
I read “hit by a car” the 1st read thru….Had to read again and saw “bit by cat” the 2nd time! 🙂
Hope you’re OK and the antibiotics ward off any other problems! BAD KITTY!!
HA! Hit by a car would be far, far worse. That would require a whole bakery full of sweets to make me feel better and relax.
Naughty Kitty!
Having a rest and enjoying sweets is not a bad thing at all!
Thanks. The kitty wasn’t really naughty, just very, very scared. She goes on rabies observation right now, but should go into a foster afterwards, for much needed socialization.
Oh poor sweetie. Please recover and feel better!
Ouch! Get better soon. I assume you work in a location where getting bitten by a cat is not a strange occurrence? If you work in a bank, I bet there’s a great story behind the cat bite.
I work in an animal shelter, so really, it was just a matter of time!
Hope it’s not too sore… I also have heard that most cat bites can lead to infection. Hope the cat can be socialized in foster…
Feel better soon! And best wishes for the cat finding a good home.
Lush Soft Coeur chocolate and honey massage bar layered with Guerlain Habit Rouge Dress Code which has a delicious praline drydown. It’s my fantasy candy: Rose chocolate pralines.
They have these donuts in one of the Polish takeout places near me that are filled with rose jam. Today might be the day to try one…
i love anything with rose in it, ice cream, rose preserves, rose cookies, rose anything..
Get the donut
Yes ma’am!
OMG, did you get one? How was it? I’m still kicking myself for not getting a pot of rose jam when I went to a farmers’ fair in a village outside of Grasse last year. It was soooo gooood.
Not yet. Work seems to have gotten in the way. I’ll report back. Rose jam from a French village sounds even more divine!
So I just got and finished it. It was tasty but the jam to dough ratio was a little low. More jam and it would’ve got 2 thumbs up.
Disappointing 🙁
What a delicious sounding donut. I could never pass that one up, especially if it had powdered sugar on it.
They don’t actually look all that pretty. But who cares?!
I have to stop into Lush and check out that massage bar!
It’s a versatile little treat. I have a few of the massage bars that I use post shower as a body oil. This is my favorite.
Yum, rose-flavored desserts are the best. A bakery near us has rose baklava, and it’s truly the pinnacle of all good things.
That sounds delish!
You smell delicious. Where is the donut place? It is definitely a destination on the next Twisted Lily visit.
Thanks! That would be fun! It’s a small Polish food takeout place in Greenpoint, Bklyn called Polka Dot. There are a number of Polish bakeries around here, but I haven’t scouted those out for said donuts. I’ve had other Polish bakery donuts which were nothing to write home about.
Polka Dot! *love*
Rose jam donuts? (Gasps, clutches pearls…) I love rose-flavored sweet treats. When I lived in Seattle I made regular trips to Theo Chocolates for their dark chocolate-covered rose caramels. What they eat in heaven, clearly!
Mmmmm
I’m definitely going to have to check out the massage bar. I love your descriptions of it.
Yay to treat day!
SOTD: Bonbon on my left arm + Candy on the right. Later today will re-scent myself with Pink Sugar! Then finally at night, after shower and before bed, will indulge in Iris Ganache.
Drinking: Hot chocolate with extra marshmallows.
LOL — you might win if you get all 4 on your skin at once!
Wearing Missoni (2006) and it smells of my favorite chocolate candy – Ferrero Rocher.
I may take a bite out of you..
LOL! I was at Costco with my Mom 2 weeks ago and she remarked that it seems the Ferro Rocher must be on sale because 9 out of 10 carts making the first turn into another hallway had at least one box in the cart.
That’s my choice too for today. The sweetest perfume I own. I found it too sweet at first, but the beautiful florals won me over, and, really, there’s nothing wrong with hazelnut ganache. 🙂
Oooh. Envious. That was my favorite candy, too, before I had to give up chocolate, among other things. Maybe a bottle of that Missoni will turn up somewhere.
I don’t really like overly sweet perfumes, so I don’t have much in that vein. I did dig out my D&G The One mini I had, which is a nice mix of floral notes and vanilla and is kinda sweet, so I’m wearing that today.
Well, I planned to wear L’Ambre des Merveilles today for its salted caramel aura, but …. Gucci EDP leapt into my hand instead. Not candy-ish at all.
Hey, a question for those of you outside the U.S.: is the word “toddler” used in your country? I heard it used in a radio story this morning (RIP, Vine) and started wondering where the word came from.
It’s used in Canada, but we’re pretty close to the “Sleeping Elephant” and there is a lot of bleed over.
Pretty standard in the UK and Ireland for small children. Apparently ‘to toddle’ is to walk unsteadily, which works for that sort of ‘controlled perpetual falling’ thing that very young kids do.
Toddler is widely used here in New Zealand. No surprise, we were another of the many British colonies.
Yup, ditto in Australia for children who have just learned to walk. Widely used as a general descriptor for the fractious and stubborn behavior typical of children of that age. (‘Had a terrible morning with our toddler this morning.’)
Vanilla lotion under Noir Épices to get a sweeter spicy effect. Happy friday!
you know I’m going to ask: what variety of vanilla lotion? 🙂 I’m sure you smell great, Noir Epices is wonderfully cozy.
It’s Yves Rocher Vanille Noire. Should have mentioned that. 🙂
I’m in Arquiste’s Anima Dulcis: dark chocolate with a trick of chilli.
I need to try that, although not as much as I need to NOT get any more samples this year. So it might be a 2017 treat for me. :^)
you smell delicious, this is one of my favorites! I really want a full bottle of this.
So do I! It’s so yummy but not at all banal.
It’s so good – like chocolate dessert left sitting on an old wooden table.
I need to try this again. I recall it as not too sweet, and thinking that it warranted further exploration.
I’m wearing Mugler Angel Eau Sucree, and loving it. Meringue coated patchouli ????
I hope you better today!
Feel better today…
Thank you. Yes, I’m feeling a lot better today 🙂
Grrr, my bottle is still missing in action.
1000 Flowers Reglisse Noire today. I’m licorice! But a very high quality, airy, elegant licorice.
That’s a good one
REglisse Noire is so satisfying…on my top 10 of all time list….
SOTD is Vanille Noir by Yves Rocher. Love that first hit of vanilla, reminds me more of pudding or flan than candy. It is a sophisticated and not too sweet, with some subtle spices. I love it, wished it lasted longer on my scent eating skin.
Also wearing a vanilla, namely Vanille & Ylang – more of a custarrd than a candy, but definitely the sweetest perfume I own.
That is a good one, the least sweet vanilla I’ve tried. I have the rollerball, and it doesn’t stick around on me, either. I’ve been wondering if I got a bottle and tried the “spray yourself wet” technique, it might stick around longer.
What’s more fun than a Boyfriend? So, that is my scent of the day, Boyfriend by Kate Walsh. It’s a dupe for Organza Indecence so I smell like an orange glazed cinnamon bun…yummy. TGIF!
Oh god, my first Perfumista love, and a scent I actually used to share with my boyfriend. You smell perfect.
Aww…how sweet. You two must have been adorable.
I haven’t tried that one but have OI, so I can guess you smell delicious!
You smell great today too and the rose jam donuts sound deadly!????
Chocolate Man. I’m hungry. I think it needs to be layered with something so I’m going back to my boxes for ideas. Any suggestions?
I wore it yesterday with Voyage for the lavender combo…I have also layered it with Black Flower Mexican Vanilla…or essential oil of patchouli….
How about something orange. I love chocolate and orange together. I have a travel size of Chocolate Man and it would be good layered with 4711 AC Mandarine & Cardamom, or Orange Sanguine.
I’m voting for something woody.
I found something without a label that smells coconut so I am now on my way to buy a Mounds bar.
Scent twins! I layered with Profumum Roma Dulcis in Fundo!
I planned to wear Misia for the project, the most sophisticated violet candy ever. But I forgot that I’d be in Tokyo. So I’m wearing JM Wood Sage & Sea Salt in my attempt not to offend the delicate noses of the locals while still smelling like me.
You smell great. I picked up a bottle of Wood Sage & Sea Salt this summer along with Lime Basil & Mandarin. They are both very pretty and easy to wear. I like them individually and layered.
YOu smell good…love that one….and like madtowngirl said very versatile and easy to wear…
You smell wonderful. I hope Tokyo is amazing for you!
Omnia Profumo Madera. Luckyscent describes this as “a giant vat of golden, buttery caramel goodness,” and I would say that pretty much sums it up!
you smell wonderful! this perfume is great fun.
Guerlain French Kiss — I am happy to smell like a Lauderee macaroon
Also, thinking of Lauderee reminds me that I haven’t been to NYC in a while so if anyone would like to get together this Thurs let me know. My screen name is my yahoo address
On the road so I’m limited to whatever happened to be in my toiletry bag, which means today’s sweet is Demeter Croquembouche, caramel and pastry with an out-of-place coconut note. Nice, though.
Gosh, another Demeter I did not know they made!
Happy Friday!
SOTD: In Philosophy’s Fresh Cream body lotion and cologne. I smell not like candy, but like a very sophisticated yet light dessert, a custard you would have during the day. I got both on sale at Marshall’s a few months ago but just broke it out now. I tend to NOT like Philosophy’s stuff (most of the ‘Grace’ perfumes smell like Rich Women’s Shampoo,) but I must confess I like the Tea Collection, and Fresh Cream is my favorite for layering or ‘softening’ the impact of another strong scent.
That’s a good one…if I wasn’t on a no buy I would consider getting a bottle…..
I really want one of the small bottles to keep in my gym bag. The industry is really testing my resolve with holiday minis this year.
stay strong!!!! 🙂
Last year, I bought a bunch of the Fresh Cream Cologne holiday ornaments and gave them to my nieces. Macy’s is having a Macy’s Money Event (get $10 for every $50 spent) and is a fantastic way to get a Beauty Department discount!
#enabling
Mmmm. I almost wore Fresh Cream but since I’ve been wearing it a lot it seemed like cheating. I’m so envious of your finding it at Marshall’s. I never see Philosophy in any of my discounters unless it’s a lotion with a broken pump.
PS. Anybody know why “lotion” needs to be auto-capitalized? My iPad is very insistent and it has always puzzled me.
I was shocked finding the lotion and cologne at Marshall’s, to be honest! I had to get it it (and it was $20 each) and pack it away! I really like FC as a layering piece, and the lotion is VERY nice for dry winter skin.
I have a small bottle of FC that I really like, but on me it’s quite BIG! I almost choked myself the first few times I sprayed it and learned quick to “go low” with the full on spritz. You smell delish!
Yes! It is a surprising full fragrance and not as light as you would think!
I also tend not to like Philosophy but Fresh Cream is top notch. I tend to approach Philosophy products really carefully ever since I discovered that I was severely allergic to the unscented body lotion!
OMG! That is so, so weird! As a chemist I don’t immediately see could have broken you out BUT thing can combine to give a rash!
Well, the first time it happened, I had no clue as who would think that unscented caused it. A few months later, since the same body lotion bottle was handy, I wore it again and sure enough, rash city. It’s probably whatever was used to mask the fragrance to make it unscented.
If I weren’t migraining I would have worn Mona di Orio’s Vanille: a comforting warm and not too sweet crème brûlée.
Yuck (the migraine, not the perfume). Hope you feel better very soon!
I hope it passes quickly.
That’s a beautiful vanilla! You smell great ????
I’m sorry you’re hurting – hope the migraine’s gone soon and you can spray something on.
Migrains are nasty!!! I had them often when i was a child. Feel better soon and get as much rest as possible!
I hope you feel better as the day goes on.
Feel better soon.
Hope you’re feeling better!
Thank you all for your kind wishes. They really helped!
A little oil of basil.on the temples and base of neck works wonders. Feel better!
I thought I wouldn’t have a qualifying perfume with me but checked my list and was wrong. Am wafting Agonist Isis which, to me, smells like those liquid-filled pineapple hard candies that are wrapped in paper to look like tiny pineapples. I don’t know if they even still make them, though I’ve seen the strawberry version in the past few years. I loved going to the bank with Mom when I was little because they always gave customers a candy with each transaction and occasionally a nice teller would give me a handful for being cute and well behaved 😀
Ha! Yes, bank candies. Also, those remind me of my friends’ European grandparents’ houses growing up.
Thought about wearing Gourmand Coquin, but I wore that one last night. I’m wearing by Kilian Love. I smell like pillowy pink marshmallows.
You smell delicious.
Hurrah, the end of another week. The week itself hasn’t been too bad, but this time of the year I start feeling like I am dragging my weary carcass towards the finishing line that is the Christmas break. All the stressful days and sleep-deprived nights of the year seem to team up with the dwindling daylight and sinking temperatures and everything seems so *effortful*.
Anyway, all this week I have been intrepidly yadda yadda five samples yadda yadda sweet treat. #5 on my list and today’s SOTD is BeauFort London “Lignum Vitae”.
Top: black pepper, red fruits, biscuit, sea notes, mandarin orange, citron, bergamot, juniper, ginger, lime, olibanum and caramel;
Mid: guaiac wood, vetiver, pepper and agarwood (oud);
Base: sand, sea salt, amber, olibanum, musk, vanilla and oakmoss.
I like BeauFort’s earlier stuff even though it verges on the unwearable for many people, with its ‘maritime history’ aesthetic and challenging notes of blood, metal, opium, seawater and so on. So I was surprised to sniff this earlier in the year and think “gingerbread!”. Wearing it all day today other notes are evident, especially a lime top note I missed first time, but on the downside it’s not as long-lived as the earlier scents.
Treat factor: 4/5, it is warm and comfortable, if not as exciting as its predecessors.
If this were a sweet it would be: a lime cheesecake with a base made of crushed gingernut biscuits and melted butter.
I never heard of that one before. Now I want to try it.
But you *will* get your weary carcass there! And smelling good to boot!
Not so sure about the perfume but a lime cheesecake sounds fantastic right about now.
I’m not the biggest fan of sweet in perfume, so I don’t have a ton of sweet perfumes. Right now, I am wearing vintage Bal PdT. I just love the huge slut note.
Oh, I really wish there was a specific slut note!
I wore Bal to my divorce negotiation sessions.
I figured smelling freshly shagged would be a psychological point for me.
You smell great
LOL! Love that strategy!!! 🙂
*dying* LOVE this!
I love it!
But…..did it help?
Ha! That is one of the best comments ever on the scent of the day. Definitely top 5. I will never be able to think of Bal any other way ever again. 🙂
Cadavre Exquise.
Perfect for Halloween!
😉
The notes sounded pretty good but the name is completely off-putting to me. How do you like it?
It is very very very sweet. it really does smell like candy. (It comes accompanied by a few pieces of candy, such as Mary Janes, as if to drive home the point!)
I wore it to work yesterday and was surprised by both the lack of reaction from those around me and the lack of cloyingness I was expecting to follow me through the day.
To sum it up, I do like it, but I will probably like it more once the weather gets really cold. I’ve not smelled anything else like it. But then, I tend to avoid sweet fragrances.
Prada Amber, which smells a lot like orange and chocolate on my skin. I also put on some Prada Candy lotion this morning, but it had gone sour, so after some scrubbing, I topped it all of with Philosophy Fresh Cream lotion.
Oh dear, and you can’t have had it *that* long!
Certainly not more than 5 years, at least! I better go home and check on my Tutti Dolci Sugar Wafer lotion, which has probably been in my closet for twice as long
This is why I keep all my creams and lotions in the fridge. Haven’t had one go bad yet, and it’s been 7 years at least.
I’m a cheap treat today in CSP Amour de Cacao. I smell super delish! All the talk of the Tauer body oils (Amber!) is really testing my no buy resolve…
Apropos of nothing, I had my FJ at the dealers a few weeks ago to get some maitenance done, and asked about getting my weather stripping along the windows replaced because the Florida sun has wreaked havoc on the rubber, resulting in dried and cracked seals.
345.00 DOLLARS!! ????
I had to decline, went on Amazon, found the OEM seals for 80 bucks, watched a YouTube video, and changed them all out myself in about ten minutes. This was a very satisfactory DIY for me ????
Deva 1, Dealer Big Fat 0! I love YouTube!
You go Deva!
Nice job!!!!!
Really impressive. The Amber Oil is a net zero cost after that.
I was compelled to go over to the Tauer website…
I watched a YouTube on how to fix my dishwasher, and after I figured out which end of the screwdriver I was supposed to hold, I did it! I really think we both deserve Amber Oil!
Go you! I am not at all handy and love the fact that so many people are generous with their “handy person” knowledge. I learned how to snake my shower drain via YT as well, and OMG! It was extremely successful and mighty horrifying at that same time. I also love watching perfume reviews on YT, too.
I’m quite sure even after the Amber Flush, you come out ahead.
Is that what it’s called? Sounds like one of those detox cleanses or something.
Go Deva go!!! 🙂
High five!
Much admiration! Money rerouted towards your Grand Soir fund ????
Very impressive. 🙂
CSP Amour de Cacao was a lemming from you – cheap thrill indeed! Go you on the DIY. I admit to not being handy at all, so, RESPECT!
Great work! As a new homeowner I will take note!
I didn’t think I had many scents that are reminiscent of candy, but a search of the cabinet came up with quite a few. My choice came down to two I haven’t worn in quite a while: Serendipity and CJ Scents’ Flirt. I’m saving Serendipity in case we do a “reminds you of chocolate” day. And I’m wearing Flirt, which is a whirl of caramel, vanilla, and coconut.
Serendipity! I have not smelled that one in ages.
Dame Chocolate Man is my SOTD, and I’m enjoying its slightly dry, slightly bitter edge of dark chocolate in its simplest form, my favorite candy. Later, in the spirit of the season and for a Friday night event, I will add the gloriously, tacky PDC Body Fantasies Vampire edp. Its name and bottle belie the luscious gourmand scent within: deep, dark, rich chocolate-covered cherries in a boozy liqueur. Mmmmmm, chocolate . . .
oo I want to try the Chocolate Man. Is it more unisex than masculine?
yes I would say so….and you can get a travel spray for under ten dollars…free shipping…..
Honestly, most of the fragrances in the men’s line are unisex…I have worn them all and they are all really good….
I agree with you. I love, and actually prefer, the Dame masculine scents.
Since it really smells simply of deep, dark chocolate I would say ‘unisex.’
Nothing gender specific about this one.
Chocolate Man is so good! I wore that one yesterday …
Twins! I think for the very first time!
Wearing Prada Candy from the swap; thank you, perfumelover67!!!
I Miss Violet yesterday and Misia today for more delicious violet elegance. Good for traveling, as I am today.
4160 Tuesdays Silk, Lace & Chocolate smelled like a mixture of regular and vanilla Tootsie Rolls.
I think the kids will love this one liberally sprayed on Halloween!
You know, I should find a retailer with this line in London as I want to smell through the range!
You can put together your own discovery pack at Indiescents. You could spend a week sniffing in London!
I’m cheap – I want to smell them all for free :-). I think Sarah has a storefront. I’ll need to email to find out their holiday hours.
Hello. Roullier White in Dulwich has all the range of 4160 Tuesdays. While Fenwick in Bond St, Fortnum and Mason and Les Senteurs have few of Sarah’s scent. Otherwise drop Sarah an email and come over to the studio in West London and have a sniff.
That does sound great! I used to love those vanilla Tootsie Rolls.
It’s a really great name for a perfume, too.
SOTD = Profumum Roma Dulcis in Fundo + Dame Perfumery Chocolate Man
i smell like a vanilla crepe drizzled with caramel and dusted with chocolate powder (reminds me of Milo), with a side of orange slices. What a treat! I have an 18 mL travel spray of Dulcis in Fundo which I bought from Fumerie when I was in Portland in August. Chocolate Man (looking at you chocolatemarzipan) arrived earlier this week from Arizona, along with a bunch of travel sprays and samples. Dulcis in Fundo is citrus and super concentrated vanilla and Chocolate Man smells like malted chcolate (Whoppers!)
Oh I am jumping up and down!!!! I get another enabler pin from hajusuuri…hee!hee! hey, at Dame’s prices and free shipping and loads of extra samples he generously includes you can most definitely afford a 100ml “sample” , right?
and you smell amazing!!!
Oh and I am sure that you also got a 10% coupon for your next purchase, right ? 🙂
Yes…threw it back in the box so I don’t lose it.
The 100 mL samples are practically free!
Ohhhhh – I have both of these at home. Well, that it my bedtime scent sorted .
Oooh, do let us know what you think!
I am going to have to cave on Chocolate Man eventually.
It’s good and practically free!
Wow, a chocolate orange creamsicle, you smell scrumptious!
Thank you, now I’m hungrier!
Oh man, I love Whoppers (or Maltesers, depending on what part of the world I’m in). I’d probably end up trying to chew on my arm, then, if I wore Chocolate Man. ????
You might unless you layer it with something floral.
Well, I can justify Chocolate Man because it has zero grams of sugar, versus ingested chocolate. If it satisfies the cravings, then it’s
healthy.
Annick Goutal Petite Cherie EDP from a sample- not really my type of scent , but it smells EXACTLY like my favorite candy- russian pear flavored sucker “Dyushes”.YUMMMMM!
That is a candy I do not know, but impressed there is a candy that smells like Petite Cherie.
Sent you an e-mail.
Reading everyone’s choices is making me hungry!! I’m twins with Robin today in Rahat Loukoum, and yes, we do smell wonderful. 🙂
Hey twin!
I was planning to wear Noir Exquis, but the temperature has gone back into the mid-80s, and I couldn’t bear the thought of a sweet perfume. I’m wearing Escentric 2 instead, and it’s perfect.
It’s been a crazy busy week, and this is the first chance I’ve had to post. I had the coolest experience last night. Way back in 2005 or so, I ordered the Ormonde Jayne sample set and tried them all. I had to store my belongings (including perfume) in a non-air-conditioned storage unit for a few summer months, and when I retrieved my stuff, all of the perfumes had gone vile. I tried a new sample of Ormonde Woman last night, and not only was I immediately transported back to the last few months right before my wedding, but I was blown away by the beauty of the scent, which I had forgotten. It was breathtaking.
What a great experience. The ability of perfume to recapture the past is so remarkable.
In the one Licorice perfume to rule them all……wait for it…..Kerosene Black Vines! Not subtle, just full out Licorice! I am probably an olfactive hazard to Licorice haters……
Yum 🙂
I usually like licorice in perfume, although not to eat, but Black Vines sounds like way too much. Glad to leave it to you!
Not participating today. SOTD – Carnal Flower, just because I felt like it.
That’s an excellent reason!
Great scent – when I do want to sweeten it up, I layer it over Couvent des Minimes Orange Blossom cream, which smells like Froot Loops. Yum! 🙂
I’ll have to try the CdM cream. Love and Toast Rose Sorbet lip balm also smells like Froot Loops, which was not what I was expecting, but enjoyable nonetheless.
Carnal Flower – nice!
Atelier des Ors Rose Omeyyade. Slightly sweet and very rosey. I keep thinking the juice is pink, but it’s a pale gold colour. It would make a good lolly.
You smell wonderful – Rose Omeyyade is lovely.
I first read that as “”Atelier des Ours” and was like, RAD! Workshop of the bears!!?
I’ll put on Tihota later, but I’m wearing Chypre Mousse now because I think it smells like a crypt. In a very, very good way.
LOL, I better unsee this comment because it will creep me out the next time I wear Chypre Mousse!
NASTY WOMAN (Black Phoenix Alchemy Labs) arrived yesterday in the mail. This is the head shop version of Mon Parfum Cheri par Camille. Less Hillary, more Tia Dalma from Pirates of the Caribbean. Figgy as opposed to MPCPC’s plum. The perfect representation of a burning stick of incense. Strong and tenacious (as any nasty woman would be), the drydown smells more like strawberry, which is a bit cloying to me.
The treat? Smoke and incense in perfumes typically irritate my breathing, much as I love them. This didn’t! Well worth it for those first two incense-y hours. And getting to feel like Tia Dalma. 😉
Thank you so much for posting your impressions, I was waiting to hear!
Sounds good, thanks for reporting!
Thanks for the report! Very tempting. I may have to get myself a bottle. I’m one nasty woman.
Thanks for your research! I want it just for the name.
The label is also great, though small and sepia-toned: women’s suffrage picketers.
Thanks for the description! I think my order might not be delivered in time for the specific day next month on which I want to wear it, but I’m looking forward to sniffing it whenever it does arrive…
Once I got the shipping confirmation (took a few days) it arrived USPS Priority one or two days later. Keeping my fingers crossed for you.
Thanks for your impressions! “Strong and tenacious” sounds like the HRC cookie that took me 8 smashes to make it crack!
I’ve just been given a jar of French sweet chestnut cream/paste and was wondering if there are many perfumes with a sweet chestnut note? It’s a lovely scent. Also…how do I use a whole jar of chestnut paste…suspect it will edge its way to the back of the fridge after an initial flurry of tasting and testing. Back home after a great trip north and have three people staying so I’m sleeping on a mattress in the living room…enjoying a moment’s peace before they wake up and I take them tea and coffee and make breakfast. Guests and rinsing out cups and filling kettles seem to go hand in hand. Scent will be hypnotic poison. It is national bookshop day so I have to Join a ‘writers desk’ at our brilliant university bookshop. Reading a biography of Angela Carter…excellent book. OK..they are getting up. Attach smiley face and moving towards kitchen….
You know which recently released frag contains chestnut? Lancome Tubereuses Castane, which I really want to try because I love tuberose, and am curious about the chestnut!
Please report back if you test it. Sounds good.
maybe put the paste on top of brioche or muffins or French toast or waffles????
http://www.fragrantica.com/notes/Chestnut-578.html
here you go…and I happen to like By the Fireplace..got a sample of it from Sephora and sprayed it on my winter coat..mmmm…..
And I think Demeter’s Christmas in New York has a chestnut note as well (which makes sense as they really scent up the NYC streets during the holidays!)
They do, but the crowds! I sometimes feel like becoming a bowling ball so I can knock them over like bowling pins. Yes, I am impatient with tourists that amble 4 abreast with not a care in the world
Hey sweet pea! Thanks for all the info about the perfumes…what a wealth of knowledge. I am a lost cause re. Baking but waffles and chestnut sounds within my limits. I have tried Zadig and Voltaire for her and that was okay for the price.
I cheated via google 🙂 !!
Chestnut paste is great with vanilla or coffee ice cream.
Yes! How about inside donuts instead of jam?
I love to add chesnut paste when I bake chocolate muffins or chocolate cake.
Sounds great. I can do that, i think. Thanks.
L’Artisan Noir Exquis has a chestnut note, and it’s quite yummy
Thanks…written this in my black book
L’AP would be my roasted chestnut perfume. Oriza Legrande Chypre Mousse has the chestnut note but it doen’t taste like like it.
I ahould be more specific – L’AP Noir Exquiss
And I should probably stop typing on the train! All these typos but I bet everyone’s brain compensated.
You are doing well. I would get motion sick. Thanks so much.
Could you use the chestnut paste in a nut roll? Those are my favorite Christmas pastries…
With chopped nuts and cinnamon…yes! This is getting like Masterchef
Ooh, I have two small pop top cans of chestnut paste that a kind NSTer sent me a while back. I’m interested in suggestions that don’t require cooking. First up may be using it as a spread on rolls!
You can keep your extra chestnut paste in the freezer. Lovely folded into whipped cream as a cake filling! And TF Orchid Soleil claims to have a chestnut cream note, and I’d say it does, albeit folded into a Big White Floral.
A common way to use it is to spread it on crepes 🙂 absolutely delicious! Enjoy!
My Treat Friday scent is S-Perfume 100% Love, which smells to me like those chocolate-covered raspberry jelly sticks they have at the Sweet Factory! Yum.
Have a wonderful Friday, everyone!
You smell great!
Thanks!
I don’t think I have ever encountered this S-Perfume line. Chocolate and taspberry? Sign me up!
I probably wouldn’t have encountered it either, had it not been for the lovely Petunia. Technically it’s a red currant note, but it smells raspberry-jelly-ish to me.

Looks interesting! It is so…RED!
This week has been so stressful, that I haven’t worn much perfume. I don’t want to contaminate any of my bottles with my bad Karma. I have a lot of sweet perfumes, but decided to wear Agent Provocateur Maitresse. It reminds me of Spree candies.
So sorry, hope things get better 🙁
Eeek, I hope thinga are now going uphill!
Hope everything’s ok! Spree candies sound cheerful, though not what I’d guess that perfume would smell like.
I’m pretty sure it’s Violet I’m smelling, but more sweet. Admittedly, I’m not a reliable source for accurate scent description.
Spritz away and drive off any lingering stress from this week! ????
Believe me, when i get through this mess, there will be a fragrant reward.
Hope it’s better soon, lillyjo.
Thanks everyone!
SOTD=Laurence Dumont Crème Brûlée + LÓccitane Eau de 4 Reines. Diana Barry would have worn this if it were available in Avonlea.
Forgot to turn off the international keyboard for L’Occitaine.
🙂 Anne would have worn lemon verbena.
It does sound like Diana!
Happy Friday-
I was struggling to find something appropriate to the theme, so I wore Taklamakan. It smells like hot caramel today.
A lot of you all are really cracking me up today, thanks for the fun!
Nice…Taklamakan was a contender for today!
I’m a candy lover. I always have some form of sweets in my bag, on my nightstand (very bad), at work, it’s just all over. I blame my grandmother for this.
In fact I don’t think there’s a candy I don’t like, and I’m always switching it up. I’m into Swedish fish these days and yummy, really juicy watermelon sour balls.
SOTD: Orchidée Vanille
I love sweets too. I worry about diabetes but can’t help myself. At least I try to only have small amounts at a time. Orchidée Vanille is wonderful.
Another wonderful vanilla!
I love sweets and could probably live on chocolate, but don’t like those things as perfume. Perfume-free at the moment before a shower, so will be spending my time in the shower delightfully contemplating what I might put on today.
Guilty admission… I didn’t share those chocolates you sent but hoarded them for myself.
I’m layering Smell Bent Cocoa Rose (a surprise sample gift from a generous NSTer) with Kyse Mandorlo Ciaccolato, which is pretty much straight up chocolate but a bit of almond and coffee.
I may need to pull out my Holy Chocolate hot chocolate mixes soon… they make a Swiss milk chocolate one that I love.
RL for me, too. So indulgent. Love that it’s tart, lik the best candy.
like.
Late to the party and didn’t participate in the project…wearing Eau Premiere…which smells particularly amazing today for some reason.
I am working from home and just got a bottle of vintage Coco EDP in the mail from 1989…I haven’t sprayed it yet but I sniffed the atomizer and it is beyond amazing.
For those playing along at home, you may remember I have some vintage Coco EDP from the late 80s/early 90s but this was made in the US at Chanel’s factory in upstate NY. From what I know, materials were then (and I believe still currently are) imported in from France but some fragrances are actually made in NY for US distribution. This new bottle was made in France so now I will get to compare vintage Coco EDP made in NY to vintage made in France.
And for me, this is about as good as life gets 😉 …I will probably do the side by side comparison sometime next week and will keep you all apprised. Happy Friday!
Sounds great, looking forward to hearing your thoughts.
I am curious to hear your thoughts
That is very cool! Love that mad scientist attention to detail…i mean that. Love it!
Oh do you know where in upstate NY? Now I am curious!
and vintage Coco is amazing! I had been gifted a bottle when it first came out (late 80s??) I wore it to satisfy the gifter but wasn’t over the moon about it at the time and yet drained the bottle..about 20 years later I eeked out a few sprays from the empty bottle and was swooning……the current formulation that I have tested at Sephora is not nearly as good, right?
Better late than never. I have been swathed in tauerville amber flash all day. Great staying power and sillage. Feel warm and sweet. Love those pumpkin candies – must buy some.
Jumping in late with Prada Candy Kiss spritzed from a manufacturer sample.
The perfume-speak on the packaging says it all: “Like the smell of White Cotton, fragranced with Orange Blossom and Vanilla . . . ”
Orange blossom? Check. Vanilla? Most emphatically yes. White Cotton? Hmmm, I guess so. There may be something clean and cozy lurking in the background. I hope eau de dryer sheets won’t make an appearance later. At the moment I can see myself finishing this sample then hankering for more more more.
Oooooh, mellowcreme pumpkins are not allowed in my house because I will eat them all right out of the bag. I love one on top of a frosted cupcake, too.
Thanks for all the sweet fun today, NST! I hope the coming days are filled with fragrant treats.
I really like Candy Kiss, and it’s my daughters favorite to choose, when she wants to spray some perfume.
That’s sweet. Candy Kiss is easy to love. It’s seems like it is the most gentle of the Candy line.
Wearing Olympic Orchids California Chocolate, the first niche/indie perfume I ever bought, at the first perfume event I ever attended. Thank goodness the temperature stayed below 80 today. It’s reminding me of how much I miss chocolate, and oranges, and chocolate oranges.
The Cubs just lost, which makes me a little sad, despite Bill Murray singing “Take Me out to the Ball Game” in the style of Daffy Duck. Go Cubbies! (Wait, does that violate the no politics rule?)
Bwahahahahahah, I love Bill Murray.
