Hump Day, everyone! Plus, a very happy birthday to Tony Bennett. What fragrance are you wearing?
I'm in Jean Paul Gaultier Ma Dame, developed by perfumer Francis Kurkdjian. I think I liked this one better than nearly everybody else. Tea at the moment, just to continue the theme, Kusmi's Anastasia from the Jean Paul Gaultier tin, which I did actually buy for no good reason other than the tin.
Reminder: on 8/5, wear a fragrance by Francis Kurkdjian, if you have one.
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2016, where I'll try to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.
Tendre Poison Christian Dior.
Galbanum and orange blossoms. YMMV
😉
Ah, this one is interesting and rather unconventional. Green and floral, but not so sweet and light as it might seem during the first seconds after application. A poison indeed.
Quite interesting and challenging, it is indeed poisonous.
In a good way! 😀
Narciso Rodriguez For Her EDP. I am not sure whether the EDP version was made by Francis Kurkdjian, but Fragrantica lists him as one of the creators (with Christine Nagel).
You smell great!
SOTD: Égoïste Platinum (Chanel). Took a break from FK today, but lamenting the choice already… 🙁
Ugh! My sympathies.
Probably my least favorite Chanel.
Well, I like it better than Bleu… Much nicer now that it has been on for 3+ hours. 🙂
I was reaching for MFK Baccarat Rouge when I noticed that there was a tiny, tiny bit left in my decant of Dior Feve Delicieuse, so I wore that instead.
Also: I was going to do it: went to the Chanel website to finally buy the small bottle of 31 Rue Cambon and it is no longer listed; only the larger size. I may try calling the Chanel store but just wanted to pass in the FYI.
Uh oh, it’s happening. Thanks for letting us know.
lol.. “it’s happening”
Crap. This week just gets better and better…guess that’s what I get for stalling.
Also try Nordstrom flagship store in Seattle – you can call them – they carry the EXclusiffs line
Thank you! I didn’t think Nordies carried them anyplace. Chanel, of course, suggests I make a quick drive to Dallas.
If it’s due to stock depletion, then I contributed to the situation by getting my bottle recently–sorry! No. 18 is only the larger size, too, I see. Fingers crossed for you to track down a bottle!
I’ve been contemplating the big bottle just to be set for life in the face of any changes. I blew through a smaller one a few years ago so I know I could use it up eventually. If be heartbroken if changed before I purchased any.
I called the Chanel store in Chicago and they still had some of the 2.5 oz. bottles in stock!
Oh thank you for the alert Katrina! That box of eels gets ordered now!
Wearing MDCI’s Rose de Siwa which is the first of the 3 Kurkdjians that I own.
Tea is MF Thé de Lune which is great on this grey and rainy day. It doesn’t feel like summer at all at the moment.
Rose de Siwa is lovely! I have quite a few FKs to pick from, so I will be in luck on Friday. I just don’t know which one!!!
I’ve got my FK’s worked out. I have 2 more to go. I love this one so much. I only have the small sample bottle but as that contains 7 ml. it will last me while.
You smell lovely.
Thanks!
Love Rose de Siwa.
Is this your favourite MDCI?
Bvlgari Black for me today, spritzed fresh from the fridge, which makes for a lovely cooling experience in this hot, steamy swamp.
Happy Hump Day to all ????
I can’t wait to try it from the fridge. Cold tires?
LOL!
You smell great! Hmm, Black isn’t a scent I would’ve thought to put in the fridge, but I can see how it would work really well.
I hate living in a swamp! I went with A Scent though sadly had not put it in the fridge before hand.
I am wearing a tiny bit of Promesse de l’Aube.
I am drinking iced mint tea. It is sweltering already.
You smell stunning!
Ditto!
Beautiful!
I’m recovering from a cold that came suddenly and out of nowhere, and nothing is frustrating in quite the way it is when a bunch of samples show up in the mail, but you can’t smell a thing. Today, though, I finally dipped into my samples and am wearing Sunshine and Pancakes. I’ll need to reassess when my nose is fully back to normal, but so far, I like it.
A steamy shower should give you a window of sniffing time 🙂
I like the name Sunshine and Pancakes so much that it is taking all of my willpower to resist. The tins that the 4160 Tuesdays bottles come in are so nice. But, how is the fragrance?
I’m not sure how accurate my perception is right now, but it’s a bright, happy, sweet, citrusy wood. I keep getting whiffs of it, and quite like it. What I can’t tell through my congestion, though, is how sharp the citrus is, or how sweet it is.
The weather is still dismal here. I bought a little autumn coat yesterday (it has a pink faux fur collar!) and am wearing that plus Mohur extrait to fight the greyness.
Your style is so fun. And you smell great.
My boss asked me: “Are you wearing your winter coat?” And I was like: “Yes!”
Wow, it must be very chilly there.
Mohur and pink faux fur are always appropriate. You smell lovely today.
This is what I thought as well! Thank you 🙂
You smell delightful!
That coat sounds right up my alley, but can’t believe you’re wearing it already. Wow!
Cracked open a stashed bottle of Volutes.
Jet fuel coffee for the commute.
Yum, you smell great!
I wish they had made one of the little limited editions in volutes.
I am wearing 2 spritzes of Guerlain Rose Barbare. Beautiful honeyed roses.
And drinking tons of coffee. One of those days with lot of work, where it seems that I will never be fully awake…
I think I am going to wear that one tomorrow. You smell great!
SOTD is Youth Dew. I wanted something fierce after yesterday’s pretty, but innocuous, Roses de Chloe.
Nice! That one is a blast from my past…..
I got spritzed with Ormonde Jayne’s new perfume, One, in a department store at lunch time. My god this stuff is powerful! A paper strip has perfumed my rather large handbag throughout, and I’m afraid I’m projecting quite far beyond my work desk right now. But I love it. I want to compare it to Ta’if, but it’s bigger, bolder, more rose, more everything. Note to self, must be careful when testing it again.
That’s quite powerful!
Oh, if it’s like Ta’if I want to try it!
I need to try this! The iris is on my list as well, I haven’t smelled the newer OJs.
This sounds wonderful, and you smell great!
Used up another sample today: Rose of No Man’s Land from Byredo. This is probably my favorite Byredo I’ve tried and I really think the juice suits the story behind it as well.
You smell great. A top Byredo.
I think so too.
I need to give this another go. I was underwhelmed by this, but many people I trust love it, so will retry.
This was an immediate “wow”. Something about the ad copy for this and the scent came together for me. It also made me think of the movie: The Very Long Engagement with Audrey Tatou – particularly the scene where she’s on the guy’s shoulders and they are walking through the field where trenches used to be when she’s looking for clues of her lost lover. I sort of can’t take the context away from this one, but I could see how some might think it’s a basic rose scent otherwise.
Excellent Byredo
Most Byredos are hit or miss (usually miss) with me, but this one impressed me quite a bit.
I thought I had only one MFK and was saving it for Friday, but checked again and I have samples of My Burberry and Elie Saab, so they will be for today and tomorrow, respectively. I did spray Coromandel yesterday. Why do I smell liquorice for the first few minutes?
I get that sometimes w/Coromandel. Is it something you like or dislike?
I like it, it’s interesting. I am trying to learn how to separate the notes of perfumes in my head, and recognize what I am smelling, but I’m not good at it yet. I looked up the notes and tried to find fennel or liquorice, but couldn’t. Any idea what gives that liquorice impression?
La Chasse Extreme. I don’t like it as much as La Chasse “lite”, but it’s still pretty. (My purse still smells fabulous, btw 🙂 )
I like the original better too, but you do smell lovely!
SOTD is Malle’s Eau de Magnolia – came downstairs to waft it at my husband, and he asked me to rub a little on the side of his neck so he could keep enjoying it as I went about my morning. Cute. 😉
Tried Tom Ford Fleur de Chine at bedtime last night and loved it … my wallet is in hiding.
I’ve said it a thousand times, but I’ll say it again: Fleur de Chine is a great, great scent.
Surprisingly, I saw it recently still available on a discounter site.
Wearing the newly re-released 7 % solution from En Voyage.
Notes are citrus, flowers and happiness – at least for me.
After a crazy morning, I cannot wait to go home and respritz.
I am vacillating about ordering this unsniffed. All the En Voyage perfumes I’ve tried have worked well for me and the limited edition aspect of 7% makes me a little anxious but then again I really need shoes, hmm, what to do.
If you liked Zelda, I believe you will like this.
The scents share some family characteristics.
SOTD is FK’s Indult Isvayara. This was pretty powerful earlier and is a cool weather scent. But hours later, it has a soft lingering dry plum patchouli that is pleasant for 70 degree weather. The other Indults are beckoning…
Have you tried Reve en Cuir? It is a very wearable leather, and if you are interested I can send you a small sample to sniff
Thank you. That would be great.I’m not familiar with that one.
One of my favorite leathers. Mmmmmmmm
I love summer vacations. The dental school is doing only cleanings until Monday and I am having issues with a tooth that was root canaled years ago. So guess what? I go in Monday to have it taken care of. I haven’t taken a shower yet and I am wearing Frapin 1270 in all of it’s boozy, candied pineapple goodness. I shall continue on with 1270.
MFK’s APOM pour Elle today, I really like this one very much, if not love! It reminds me of Iris Nobile, possibly because of the ylang and orangeblossom. I’m glad APOM is available in travelsprays, very affordable in that way.
MFK scents are also something I need to properly try. They do a pretty reasonably priced set, I’ve been thinking of getting this…
If I buy the APOM travel set (3 x 11 ml) I’m happy to send you one of the three. Feminin Pluriel was an absolute scrubber for me, A La Rose nice but not nose blowing 😉 I like Ciel de Gum a lot (happy to provide a sample), and Oud Satin Mood as well (I have a sample).
Kicking it old school in Diorella.
You smell amazing.
Yum! Perfect for summer.
You smell absolutely fabulous! I miss this one, even just thinking about it reminds me of happy times. 🙂
Elie Saab L’eau Couture today. Sipping my new coffee addiction, cold brew.
SOTD: Iris Nobile EDT.. I think I’ve finally found my iris.
2nd cup of joe, with a side of the juiciest nectarines. Nothing like summer fruit!
Summer fruit is the best! I need to get some more nectarines, found some last week that were so delicious and juicy we had to eat them over the sink. And you smell great.
My mouth is watering now.
It is gorgeous, I’m a fan since lovely Ann S. sent me large samples of this in EdT and EdP.
Reading Victoria at Bois de Jasmin’s review I learned that it’s the iris flower that this one is made up of vs. the iris butter extracted from the roots which is more common in iris scents and probably why I prefer this scent to other iris’s out there.
She says the “iris flowers range from spicy rose to honeyed jasmine” — much more my thing 😉
Wearing a cloud of Shalimar EdC today. Went to my favorite produce stand yesterday and bought a ton of vegetables which I now have to prepare involving the oven, plus the clothes dryer all day and it’s sweltering outside, so I’ll wear as much lemony calming Shali as it takes! Have a great day everyone 🙂
Turning on the oven in summer is almost insulting when it’s hot outside. I’ve been trying to minimize by using my toaster oven for small projects.
SOTD is Cartier So Pretty edp which is one of my fav roses.
Hi Ann! So good to see you back! I received the most lovely letter from Emily, I’m in the process of writing one back to her, but the after summer holiday work madness has already started here…
Glad to be back. It was a fun summer but it was hard to get lots of computer time. Which is a good thing. Emily is always going on about her pen pal in the Netherlands. The workers at our local post office are very impressed. 😉
🙂 warms my heart!
My theme this week is Last Summer’s Favorites… scents I wore a lot last summer, which have inexplicably been ignored this summer. (Well not exactly inexplicably: I have been distracted by new shiny scents…)
SOTD is Donna Karan Woman: vetiver, sandalwood, orange blossom. Monday’s scent was Fragrance Republic 01/06: lime, fig, vetiver, sandalwood.
Yesterday was a sample-testing day. I am working diligently at clearing out my backlog of samples, with a goal of finishing by the end of the summer. You know how you’re testing meh sample after meh sample and suddenly you hit one that’s really nice, and the sun breaks through the clouds and angels sing? Gives you the encouragement to carry on 🙂 (Hermes Caleche, if you’re wondering)
The FR sounds really interesting. I never even heard of them (not that means anything, as ignorance is a bliss 🙂 )
They’re out of business… the idea was that perfumers could create whatever they wanted, and subscribers/members of Fragrance Republic would buy them. I guess it didn’t work out. But I have 2 FB’s, I can certainly send you some 🙂
The perfumer for 01/06 (Karine Chevallier) now sells this scent on her website, where it’s called ‘Lime Absolue’. Though I think I’m set for life with my FR bottles.
I know that sample-after-sample experience only too well. Nowadays, if I find one I love it’s one kind of great news (but expensive); if it’s meh it’s another type of great (money saved); if I find one I hate, I get to complain about it on NST which is fun. So really I can’t lose. :^)
Testing Hiram Green’s Voyage today. It is pretty but so far I prefer Shangri-La.
Shangri La is just so beautiful! You smell great, Voyage is so nice too.
I really like Voyage but I think that I neeeed Shangri-La. 🙂 I seem to go for fragrances that have a vintage vibe.
I read yesterday that HG sells 5 ml travel sprays. Would you or anyone know where I can find those?
Indigo Perfumery has the 5 ml travel sprays, Petunia.
Holly- I checked the site last week and all I could find was Voyage in the 5ml travel size….
Holly, Thanks so much for the PSA! I think that I snagged the last one and it was on sale!
I’m not sure on this but I think they stopped offering the 5 ml travel sprays with the recent repackaging. There may be some still out there, but I’m not sure where 🙁
Thanks everyone… Off to Indigo to check it out.
Rats! Only 5 ml of Voyage.
Petunia, I’m looking at their site right now, and I’m seeing that they have Voyage, Moon Bloom and Shangri La available in 5 mls. Maybe I just looked it up differently – I used the search bar and typed in “Hiram Green.”
http://www.indigoperfumery.com/search?q=hiram+green
I hope that will work for you!
You’re the BEST Holly!
I agree with you – all of his fragrances are amazing, but Shangri-La is the best in my humble opinion
🙂
Was reading your comment from yesterday I have an extra 1932 manufacturer sample I bought when testing it out and can make up a sample of Eau Premiere too if you’d like. I can be reached via sherainsocal in the wonderful world of gmail.
Aww… Thanks She-ra. Emailing you now.
Have you tried Moon Bloom yet?
Yes I did test Moon Bloom, but quite a while ago. I thought that it was beautiful but it had poor longevity for me.
New Ivoire de Balmain.
Mr Schneeze has taken to exploring my perfume stash – ‘as replacement for deodorant’ of course . . . It’s up to me to guess what he’s wearing every day. So far he’s worn Scherrer, Agent Provocateur and Jo Malone Orange Blossom cologne 😀
ha, ha, ha.. 🙂
I have to hide my perfume from Mr. Coumarin. If he had free reign my collection would be gone by spring, and I do not have a small collection.
Perhaps you could keep the gems hidden and leave out the most easily replaceable ones and then he could buy more when those bottles run out. 🙂
Robin that is a beautiful tin!!
SOTD – SHL 777 Taklamakan. – this one is hard to spell. Absolutely gorgeous – you do get a hot sand sensation when you spray it on which is nothing like anything else I own. Also testing Rose Omeyyade by Atelier des Ors – it is a beauty!! This is going to be a bad quarter:(
I sniffed a few Atelier des Ors scents last March, and they were absolutely gorgeous! I don’t know why they don’t get more attention.
I bought the tin too. The photo on this post is of the mug they sold at the same time.
Exactly. Plus apparently there was a teapot, which luckily I never saw or I might have bought that too. All silly since I don’t care about JPG one way or the other.
I can’t wait to try the new SHL! Glad to here your take on it.
Oh it is a beauty.
Happy Birthday to Tony Bennett! I love that man and have been listening to his beautiful voice since I was a baby.
Ormonde Jayne Woman for me this morning. Mmmmm, this is so nice.
Ditto on Tony Bennett. He also is an accomplished watercolorist and has some lovely pictures from the cities he visits. I also love his voice.
I’m not a fan of the JPG aesthetic, though I do love Anastasia tea. Today’s ambient perfume is provided by my mother’s gorgeous hybrid tea roses, which are not far from her tomato plants, whose leaves lend a sharp, vegetal undertone. My skin and bathroom are perfumed by a lovely rose musk soap bar that my mother put in my bathroom before I got here last Friday. “I love that soap!” I told her last Friday night. “Good,” she told me, “you gave it to me.”
“I love that soap!” I told her last Friday night. “Good,” she told me, “you gave it to me.”
LOL, your mom is salty!
That she is 🙂
Bruckner Aoud no. 2 today. I mix Anastasia tea with some Red Fruits tea, a sort of do it yourself St. Petersburg.
Sounds interesting. Where did you find that house?
Bruckner Perfumerie in Munich, Germany. It’s made by Micallef for them.
And I usually mix Anastasia with their Smoky Earl Grey, which isn’t really all that smoky.
SOTD is Roja Dove “Fetish pour homme”. I can tell it’s decent quality, but it’s really all about the leather and I really am not. :^)
Today I’ve been wearing Adjatay from The Different Comapany
I really like this one and wish it would become available in the US.
Commando so far, in solidarity with the trees. It smells like pine and petrol here today. And I can still smell a bit of last night’s Eau de Guerlain.
Ugh, tired. The past few mornings have begun with chain saws as tree maintenance takes place. Our street is lined with 60+ year old pine trees. The trees are looking a little naked today. The canopy was so dense the tree branches met in the middle of the street. It was lovely.
I asked one of the arborist’s team members what was going on. He said because of the drought here, the trees will be healthier in the long term with fewer large branches to support, and the trees are less heavy so are less likely to fall in a storm.
Tea of the day = Ginger and Turmeric from Celestial Naturals. Thank you to someone here who mentioned it a few months ago. I love it.
It’s awful to lose big old trees.
Agree, I always get a lump in my throat when I see a tree down after a big storm. We live near a large suburban nature reserve, so I am becoming a literal tree hugger. 😀
Definitely better to trim the trees than risk losing them altogether!
Absolutely better to trim the trees, and the branches grow back relatively quickly. Yay for shade!
Another steamy, sultry day. SOTD: Lubin Gin Fizz, a big blast of Sprite, in a good way!
went to Central Park this morning with the babies, FYI the Jo Malone store on Madison is closed. Just in case anyone wanted to know
Wow! I just stopped in the Jo Malone store in GCT this Sunday when I took my niece to NYC….
Wow! I think shortly one could turn some of those Madison
Ave. storefronts into actual almost affordable apartments. There were so many empty when I was last there. The retailers are moving downtown or changing their business models?
Well, 5th Ave is the most expensive retail real estate in the world, so makes sense that Madison Ave. is probably outrageously expense as well and tough for some brands to hang in there.
It’ll do better at Macy’s and Grand Central, I think. That one on Madison was a sliver of a shop and easy to miss under scaffolding.
I didn’t even know there was one, guess I won’t miss it 😉
SOTD is Lady Vengeance by JHAG. Beautiful rose fragrance.
Late to this.
SOTD: Tom Ford Venetian Bergamot(from a sample). Very warm pretty woodsy, citrusy and pretty- but this really settles down into the skin. Heat would make this bloom.
Rain at band camp today. Wearing MFK Lumiere Noire pour elle.
You smell wonderful!!!
You smell great. Lumiere Noire and band camp–hooray!!!
There was toddler drama when I left for work so I forgot to put on perfume which is sad but rare occasion for me.
I was going to wear something from MFK but instead I am wearing the 2015 Essences Insensees sample from my work desk drawer…jasmine for all!
If I get a nice gift card for my birthday and the EI Jasmine edp is still available, I am going to buy a bottle of it. I already have the solid, which I adore. So gorgeous! It is my fav jasmine of all. I’ve really been craving jasmine this summer. It seemed to go really well with my outdoor pool life in July. I was only using E/O with grapeseed oil to soften up my skin after shower and then it would be gone by the time I had to put on sunscreen. I’ve been craving the EI Jasmine more and more.
Seville a L’Aube for me today. I was cutting up an orange and lemon to toss into a water pitcher, and the juiciness of the orange made me need to dig around and find my travel spray…. Yummy!
Saw your post from yesterday. Kitty is doing better, thanks! We have a professional cat sitter who is having a little difficulty giving her the pills, although I’m hoping the tummy issue has just resolved itself.
I’ve been drinking orange and lime water. The hint of citrus is refreshing.
What a beauty that one is..
I’m wearing Bois Farine. I hadn’t sampled it in cool weather, and on this 50 degrees and rainy day it has so much more depth than it does when it’s 90+ degrees. I’m a bit sad that the “peanut butter” note isn’t showing up – I love that weird 5 minutes (probably because I adore peanut butter!)
Sigh. In exactly one week I will be back at work getting ready for a new crop of students. I swear this summer lasted 2 minutes. The school supply pictures and discussion yesterday made me nervous.
Bois Farine has been on my blind buy list for quite some time. I have two blind buy lists. One is sensible purchases: low risk because I like the perfumer, small bottles, under NZ $150. Then i have a ‘off your rocker’ blind list…the Amouage, OJ, Hermesessence or 100ml bottles…eg. LUbin Korrigan. Fortunately the off my rocker list hasn’t been touched….yet!
Back to school! Will you ever graduate??? 🙂
SOTD- Assam of India
TORW- Moss Gown
You smell
Great 🙂
🙂
Today I was reaching for the Rose de Siwa – love it – then I glimpsed the Byredo Gypsy Water and grabbed it instead. It does seem to get rather sweet, but doesn’t last all that long on me so I enjoy it in brief spurts – ha!
So ready to be rid of this oppressive heat down here – I would love a gray rainy day!!
Tony Bennett! I’m going to play some of his tunes asap!
SOTD is a bit of SSS Nostalgie.
Have a good Hump Day, peeps.
I took a shower with Hermes Eau d’Orange Verte shower gel and I am wearing Chanel Eau de Cologne on top , the mix is perfect.
I am having a lazy day at home, after a very busy couple of weeks, i am enjoying the quiet.
The Chanel EDC is really the perfect cologne, but the poor longevity at that price point just makes me cringe.
Me, too! I have a small decant of the Chanel EdC (it is absolutely perfect), but I found a bottle of Eau de Guerlain (which I love) at a fraction of the price.
I need to try that fang cologne! It gets so much love I feel like I’m missing out.
To be fair though my ideal cologne would actually be a summer chypre. 😉
You smell fabulous! LOVE the Cologne.
A corpse flower is blooming in DC!
https://www.usbg.gov/corpseflower
I tried to see/sniff it last night, but the line was wrapped around the block more than once, basically two hours long! I was one of scores (maybe hundreds) of people turned away when the doors closed at 11 pm sharp. It was a beautiful evening and there were nice, interesting people in the line, so not a total waste, but do allow plenty of time if you try to see it.
Oddly, I own no Kurkdjian FBs, and have not cared for most of his that I’ve sampled. I do like the two MDCIs, though, and this will be a good week to work on my decants.
Out of the mainstream Kurkdjians, I think I have only tried one of the Narciso’s and Elie Saab, both of which were not a great success. I love the MDCI’s he has done though.
I would love to smell that. We have one in Auckland , i think. I have been hunting out a stinkwood…corosma foetidissima…that has a dung/decay scent but is nothing compared to corpse flower. Plants, eh….mental!
I don’t go for FK either. I find something a bit relentless about the scents I have tried.
I’m going to have to find a way to see one in a smaller city. I missed it here in 2013, too, because I didn’t have time to wait in line for an hour then. How many hours will it be three years from now?
I don’t know if you have tried his MDCI’s, but I think they are very gorgeous, and not at all relentless.
Amazing! Thank you for sharing the link for the stink. 😀
A corpse flower bloomed at a university arboretum not too far from me a while back. I went to see it each day for 4 days.
When it was in full bloom the scent was like the smell of a package of raw chicken that got lost in the back of the refrigerator for a couple of months. Phew!
I guess I wouldn’t mind missing peak bloom. 😉
We had one corpse flower in rhe NY Botanical Garden last week. I waited in line for almost 3 hours. It was a nice experience and I was surprise how well-behaved children were considering the long wait. Awful smell but beautiful flower.
They look so unbelievable in photos – I really wanted to see it!
Beautiful sunny day in Fire Island. Our hotel room is the size of a shoebox, but the ocean is warm and it’s not too crowded here mid week. Will go for a bike ride later and explore other neighborhoods. I’m in Rose Delight oil with an added smidge of frankincense oil. Very peaceful.
So glad you’re having a sunny mid-week break! Have you tried the water yet? Should be warming up by now.
Peace out.
It’s not freezing, but maybe warm is an overstatement. We were at R. Moses 2 weeks ago and the water was bone chillingly cold.
Happy day all! Tea of the day for me was celestial seasonings authentic green with frozen pineapple chunks to cool it down. Yummy. Those also works really well with their organic lemon and elderflower blend. S0TD, fixing to put on one of the Serge samples I got, Filles en Aiguilles. I like the spicy/pine 🙂 will see how it developes in the boiling soup pot that is Oklahoma today.
I went with a scent by Issey Miyake, sadly gone but not unavailable. These too notes are so arresting, white hyacinth and muguet, with a cushion of white musk. I might need a back up bottle or two.
I love that bottle design. One of my top tens. Enjoyed the perfume, too.
It’s a wonderful bottle. If I could figure out how to dissolve the lettering I would use it as a wee planter
Morning, all. I’m staying home today because, to my horrified embarrassment, that damn migraine came back suddenly, and unexpectedly, with all the trimmings. I fainted and couldn’t see or stand and I nearly threw up for the first time in 35 years and oh dear, I CRIED,in public, like a baby and had to borrow a hanky from the Head of School and people were worried and upset and I am utterly MORTIFIED for making a scene because it happened at lunchtime on the main office floor, so lots of people were about! I’m not sure any perfume can sweeten the humiliation. I’m not even sure I’m attracted to any perfume at the moment. Maybe Cristalle, later. Maybe.
Oh! Migraine can be so awful. Take good care and do only what makes you feel better until this passes. Sending you comforting thoughts.
Like wise, take care and I hope it goes away for good soon.
Arrgh, that sucks! I lose my speech ( I can still speak but the wrong work comes out) when I get a migraine. Happened on stage once and there was nothing I could do. Snuggle in and get better.
U poor, poor thing!, what a horrible experience, look after yourself and hope u get lots of rest and feel better tomorrow.
That’s awful, so sorry to hear about such an awful experience. I hope today is a lot better.
Feel better and cheer up. Sending you warm thoughts.
That sounds like a terrible day, but I bet you’ll find people will be very forgiving (and quickly forgetful) over a ‘scene’ like that because we’ve all had them, or felt we could have. And of course nobody died, there was probably very limited entertainment value and everyone will shortly be sucked back into the permanent institutionalised crisis that is the working week in most reasonably-sized organisations and not have time to remember this.
Now if you *want* to have a scene to be remembered, spray yourself heavily with “Ma Bête”, stride into work in pink platform boots, and give everyone who has bothered you in the last 3 months a good kicking. *That* might be remembered. This won’t, so just write the day off as a bad’un and look after yourself.
Wise words!
Oh, that sucks! I agree with the folks who have said to be kind to yourself, and write the day off.
{{{{{ Waterdragon }}}}}
Take care of yourself.
So very sorry — hope tomorrow is much better.
Oh no 🙁 Feel better <3
Belated wishes for a speedy recovery. Don’t think of embarrassment, but about how much they all learned about migraines. They’re not “just a headache.”
My first favourite, (and it’s cold here anyway) the old version of Patchouli 24. Despite it being one of my first loves, I don’t wear it enough.
I’m drinking Anastasia too, but I don’t have the fancy tin. I just got tea bags in a box. The box is pretty, though. 🙂
SOTD is Calyx.
You are smarter than me. Pretty sure I paid extra for the JPG tin.
Hoping for a big snow event today. There are few things better than a forest in deep snow so fingers crossed. Hypnotic poison in case I come across a tender poison Bear in the woods.
Gosh, I LOVE snow! Hope you get a big one!
I’ll send all my snow to you come next January. 🙂 I read a Tender Poison Bear post earlier. It’s a good thing that you are prepared.
Good luck with the snow! It is beautiful but so cold. I’m hoping it’s been and gone by the time I arrive in Dunedin on Sunday 🙂
😀
Enjoy the snow !!
I’m reveling in the minimum amount of clothing possible, while it lasts ! LOL
Stopped by local TJ Maxx (1st Ave and 59th)
100 ml Stella edp is on clearance at $49. I don’t need it but that seems a nice price if anyone loves it and is in NYC.
I am getting some Body Shop Satsuma items though.
24 Faubourg for me today. I’m in the mood for something beautiful and uplifting.
I’m on a Neela Vermiere kick. SOTD is Mohur…such a beautiful rose scent.
I can’t believe Tony Bennett is 90 years old today. He looks fabulous and is still a good singer. He has outlived them all from that era and is just as popular (or more so) than when he was younger. Good for him!
I’m wearing Memo African Leather today. I bought a decant before I bought a full bottle in London, so I’m keen to empty the little one and open the big one. Stuck the new dog in daycare this morning so I could take the other dog to the vet, get a haircut, and do some badly needed grocery shopping. I am starting to get a little stir-crazy staying home so much.
This is my second post of the day and super late to boot so not likely anyone will even see it but I’m so excited that my Rose Delight was waiting for me at the post office….yippee!
I’d had a shower with Crabtree & Evelyn Iris shower gel that I’d scooped up on clearance which made me want to wear Misia, then got home with the Tauer body oil which I had to try immediately of course.
Wow, do I ever smell amazing. Though this three-way combo has turned out to be pretty potent!
is that combination pretty potent or pretty AND potent? Your choice. 🙂 I imagine you smell fabulous.
I bet you smell great!
Eeek! Late to the party! Today is my Friday so I am doing the community challenge ahead of time.
SOTD = MFK Ciel de Gum
I can’t believe I haven’t worn this in FOREVEF! People, this is absolutely AMAZING! Lightly-sweetened vanillic amber spiced with cinnamon. LOVE!!! Sillage low, longevity superb (4 sprays = 12+ hours!).
I leave for Portland, OR tomorrow and will be meeting up with fellow fumies at Fumerie on Friday (ha! say tbis quicly 10x). My niece had a desrination wedding in Hawaii last October and tbis Saturday will be the reception. How the guest list went from 90 to 180 is beyond me but hey, I’m not complaining — I am just showing up and having a grand time!
Fat fingers again! That should be FOREVER!
SOTD: 10 Crosby hi-fi
So glad I got a sample, because there is no way I would have bought a full size. Not that I don’t like the juice, it’s pleasant and wears wells, but is CRAZY expensive! I think Jessica did a review of it and likened it to a “functional fragrance”, and I definitely agree.
