Bvlgari Man Black Orient ~ new fragrance

Posted by Robin on 29 June 2016 13 Comments

Bvlgari Man Black Orient

Bvlgari has launched Man Black Orient, a new flanker to 2014's Man in Black, which was a flanker to 2010's Bvlgari Man. Man Black Orient follows the recently introduced Man Black Cologne.

Man Black Orient is an oriental woody leather, and was developed by perfumer Alberto Morillas. The notes feature aged rum, cardamom, rose, tuberose, leather and oud.

Bvlgari Man Black Orient is available in 60 and 100 ml Parfum.

The whole series (Homme and its In Black variations) is lost on me. In fact, nothing I’ve tried in the past, oh I don’t know, five years has wowed me. At the risk of sounding crabby, I’ll add that I blame IFRA’s restrictions and horrible reformulations and the invention of hideous new molecules that are meant to replace natural ingredients while being hypoallergenic. Well I’m sorry, but nothing can ever replace the real thing.
    Rant over.

It is hard to say. Even without IFRA, there are such huge changes in the fragrance industry — more fragrances, being developed faster, is almost surely as much to blame as the restrictions on materials. Plus, really, the industry could not possibly continue to use as many naturals while outputting so much product — many natural materials are already endangered.

I would not say that nothing in the past 5 years has wowed me, but it does seem like a smaller percentage of what I try is excellent. Then again, now that there are so many more fragrances being made than I can possibly try, it is possible I’m making bad choices.

This sounds promising, and I’m hoping the tuberose and rose are detectable. Will definitely try this if I happen upon it.

Pretty sure there was tuberose in the original?

I have a FB of Bvlgari Man in Black. There’s tuberose according to the notes but my nose cannot detect it. YMMV.

After the rather dubious pleasures of the recent Alberto Morillas community project, I think I’ll leave the delights of this latest concoction to others.

I just tried this today (I’m a touch late) but I LOVED it. It bloomed on my skin with the leather and oud, but it wasn’t a harsh oud note. I look very forward to this ending up at the discounters.

Very good to know, thanks — will see if I can find a tester!
