Happy Monday! And Happy Birthday to Mary-Kate and Ashley. What fragrance are you wearing?
I'm wearing a tiny dab of Elizabeth and James Nirvana Black.
Reminder: on 6/17, wear a fragrance by Kenzo, if you have one.
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2016, where I'll try to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.
I’m wearing Zino by Davidoff from a sample. It’s the second time I wear it and find it pleasant but a bit dated for my taste. And it seems better from sillage than up close.
I have never smelled it!
Wearing a blend that I made for my niece’s EX-boyfriend…about 20 essential oils with the star player being oakmoss absolute…have a sample spray of Nirvana Black in my desk so in a few hours I may be your scent twin, Robin.
Happy Monday, y’all!
I think I need to associate myself with your family so you’ll make me a blend. I love reading about the ones you’ve made!
Me too
🙂
Too funny…honestly, I would encourage you to blend on your own…it’s not that hard and it is such fun being creative with something you are passionate about…..
I haven’t got a single Kenzo, although I did finish a bottle of the original Parfum d’Eté ages ago, so I’m dedicating this week to a house I like, but not spend that much time with; Diptyque. Today’s Diptyque is Olène, which I thought of as rather fierce when I first tried it, but now seems a really nice jasmine.
I have quite a few but don’t seem so far to be interested in a week of Kenzo. You smell fantastic, love Olene!
I don’t have any Kenzo’s either! But thanks to a very generous Nordy’s sales associate, I have a slew of Diptyque samples. Mind if I join you this week? I need an excuse to make a dent in these samples!
Great! please do.
Burning through my untried samples, so I’m in Jovoy Psychedélique, and obviously psychedelia = hippies = patchouli, lots and lots of it, plus for some reason tons of vanilla, some amber, and a bit of chocolate. It’s unfortunately pretty cloying, but at least it doesn’t feel out of place on yet another cold rainy day.
Sound like I would love this
Started the day with Il Profumo’s Quai des Lice. Still liking this scent but I’m finding it more masculine on my continued trying of this one. I guess my nose starts to adjust to what I’m smelling as I wear it more. The patchouli is also more pronounced.
The importance of sampling!
I liked that one the first time I tried it, but then it went barbershop on me.
Yeah… that’s what I’m getting too.
That name! ???? Do you happen to know the English translation?
I know, not the best sounding scent and even a cursory search on what it means gave me nothing.
I agree. I tried it from a sample a few weeks ago, and it started to smell very masculine on me.
Today it’s HEELEY L’Amandiere (and for most days the past 2 weeks)
I have been wearing HEELEY L’Amandiere a lot lately. I purchased 5 samples/decants directly from HEELEY after reading E. Gabbert’s review on Bois de Jasmin. I think I need a bottle. This is drop dead gorgeous. I might need to buy 5 more samples before springing for a bottle, because this stuff is extrait and quite pricey. The sample program directly from HEELEY is reasonable, especially for their extraits. They send 2 ml spray vials which works for me much better than 1 ml dabs. I don’t dab…
So Elisa G — this is all your fault~! (but thank you, because it’s a breathtaking scent)
How strong is the almond in this? I like almond, but sometimes it can overwhelm. I’ll look for the review too.
This is a softly green scent. The almond isn’t the gourmand type – think of a green almond tree. It’s more mimosa focused for me – like mimosa and linden.
Sounds lovely! Adding to my must sample list….
Perfume Sniffer and Elisa G- YOU GUYS ARE KILLING ME! I vowed no more purchases for a long , long time but I just got off the Heeley website and saw the free shipping…YIkes! Want to try so many as well as getting my hands on another sample of Cardinal (which I had a decant of several years ago and drained)…you have also made L”Amandiere sound extremely enticing….MUST BE STRONG…..
There are a few places to sniff Heeley in New York, if that helps!
Yes it does! thank you!!!!
if you like mimosa, linden, and softly milky-green scents then L’Amandiere is A MUST TRY
uh oh, did someone say milky?
L’Amandiere is really pretty. You smell great! I was a bit wary of it at first because almond and I don’t always get along, but it’s not the amaretto-y almond that I was afraid it would be. I have no problem with that kind of almond in a cocktail glass, but I don’t really like wearing it.
No Kenzo – and I have way too many samples to go looking for more from there. So I’m running through a week of Guerlain. 1st up was “Jicky”, a 1ml decant of the current EDP. Definitely got a short blast of nappy, then an enjoyable lemon, and a smooth dry-down. Problem is, I get all of that within an hour and then it’s over.
Solution a: get the extrait at €300 for 30ml. Solution b: move along, nothing more to see here. Solution c: get a bigger decant and spray more often.
Think I’m going with b. Lots more to test out there. :^)
Yes any time my skin eats a $300 perfume in 45minutes, I breath a sigh of relief! No lemming there-money saved!
5 more days of work (including this weekend) can’t wait to be done. I am so exhausted. Happy Monday beautiful people
Layering Ancient Resins body oil and SSS Amber Incense. Pairing my fragrance with These Days lipstick by Ilia.
Tea this morning is a cappuccino. Wearing a wide brimmed fedora and a long sleeved tunic for this morning brisk temperature
Oh happy days! Soon you will be doing your own thing on your own schedule with the kiddos! ????
I can’t wait
So close! You’re almost there!
Woo Hoo
Oh you must be excited about summer break!
How are you getting on with Amber Incense? I enjoyed wearing that one in yoga…great idea to pair it with the oil…it will give it more longevity…..
Amber Incense has a lot of longevity on me, does it on you? I can’t believe something so natural can be so strong
yes…lovestosmellgood….I get great longevity from Amber Incense which was why I was so disappointed by the Afteliers….if you are looking to explore naturals I would recommend that you also try the other SSS Naturals offerings…the only one I haven’t tried is Pacific Forest which is the natural version of Forest Walk (which is amazing!)
I also tried Cacao Sandalwood and pacific forest ????
Oh, should be getting some samples from Providence Co this week
Looking forward to hearing about the Providence (good or bad) especially with regard to longevity!
Yay! Isn’t it a fantastic feeling? Today is my last day of work at school (counselors go an additional week after teachers and kids get out) and then my summer break begins!
Enjoy your summer break! You deserve it!
Thank you, and you deserve it too!!
Oh, yay for you and the babes! I need to try the SSS naturals. I don’t know how she makes her scents last so long. Sounds like a nice combo you’re wearing today (including the fedora 🙂 ).
I can pass some on to you that are not working for me if you want- let me know
Awwww, sweet! Even better if it involves getting raspberry financiers from Kayser 😉
Ok! ????
Such good news, and how wonderful for your kids!
Yay!!!
4160 Tuesdays Goddess of Love and Perfume. This one is my favorite of my 4160 Tuesdays samples so far. A real fruity chypre!
I just recently got a sample of this scent and it is quite an interesting one. Still on the fence with this one, but I can easily see why people would love it. My favorite 4160 Tuesdays scent is What I Did On My Holidays.
The 4160 Tuesdays are so fun! Sunshine & Pancakes always makes me happy but I’m never sure whether it’s because of the scent or its name.
My sample of Sunshine and Pancakes is on its way! She does come up with some great names for perfumes.
Looking forward to trying out this brand soon, it’s been on my list for awhile, they sound really fun and interesting.
They are! I was a little hesitant at first because the perfumer seems to love fruity notes, but she uses them really well. They’re lush, not sticky-candy-sweet.
Sampling Ao from Mikmoi– it’s a green coconut and tuberose scent with ginger and a little bit of smoke. It is much more sheer than these notes would suggest and seems to float above my skin. Very interesting
SOTD = Kenzo Amour
The rice pudding if this is extremely comforting, especially after last night’s trauma of getting bitten by a spider lying in wait under the quilt. 😥
On the plus side the incident made me fall in love with my S.O. all over again. The dear guy stopped mid-shower to comfort and get me ice, change the bedding, and study the spider (I killed it 🙁 ) to make sure it wasn’t too venomous. Then he listened to me read aloud the first chapter of Pride and Prejudice to calm my nerves so I could go to sleep.
Yup, I think I’ll marry him. 🙂
Awww! Sometimes it takes something bad to happen to see the good in something or someone! Sorry for your horrible bite, but luckily you had someone to help take care of you. He sounds like a keeper.
True, you can almost always find a silver lining. This incident was no means the only one in which he demonstrated what a great guy he is, but it’s always nice to have reminders.
I’m sorry you got bitten, but what a lovely story to follow the event 🙂
Thanks! I’m glad I shared. 🙂
Good man! And you smell great. That’s my only Kenzo and the only bottle I have on display.
Yup! Great man, and yes, great bottle! Looks like an abstract sculpture, and almost tempting enough for me to get a full bottle. Maybe after the 2nd decant…
A guy who lets you read Pride and Prejudice aloud to him is the self aware Mr. Darcy
incarnate. Lucky you!
True, he is remarkably self-aware, though not a big reader. Frankly, I was pleasantly surprised when he understood the first chapter (talks about how men with money are “in want of a wife”, whether or not they know it themselves).
It’s always so surprising to see how vastly different their grammar and sentence structure is compared to modern times. Makes it worthwhile to re-read since I always seem to discover some nuance I missed before.
I feel very lucky!
Aw, what a great story! A love bite from a spider has lured you into thoughts of marriage …
That, and his statement that he wants to marry me (last Thursday). 😀 I’ll let him know the spider increased his chances of getting a “yes”, though…
Adorable. My experience would suggest men like that don’t exist, but apparently my experience is wrong. Congrats to both of you on finding each other.
Edit – my experience is misleading.
It didn’t feel adorable at the time, I was completely freaked out (I’ve always had nightmares about getting bitten by a spider in the comfort of my bed). I can imagine that if this had happened earlier in our relationship things may have turned out differently.
Glad to inform you that caring and thoughtful men do exist, and hope you will find someone that will prove that to you. I feel extremely grateful that we’ve found and stuck by each other through all of these years.
They do exist! I have one myseflf????
Oh that’s so sweet!, (sorry u had the horrid bite tho!) he definitely sounds like a keeper.
Yes, he’s a sweetheart, and the bite’s all better now!
Ouch for the spider episode but thank you for sharing the sweet follow-up story.
Never would have guessed a spider bite would turn out so well, but I’m glad to share some of my joy. 🙂
Awww…yep, he sounds like a keeper.
Yep! He makes me happy. ^__^
Haven’t been here on these fragrant pages for a while — LIFE! and then the daily email reminder system I had stopped working … so I got out of the habit of a daily perfume check-in, but I now have a new NST reminder feed set up via Blogtrottr. Hello again, All!
SOTD = Prada Candy. For some reason, it’s become a bit of a go-to scent. It’s working nicely with the cold weather in South Africa today … sort of like the candy you need to send your blood sugar up and keep you warm. The biggest perfume related experience I’ve had in the past year was: a visit to Twisted Lily in Brooklyn. Wow. Just. Wow!
*waves hello*
I love Twisted Lily! Did you get anything?
Isn’t it lovely? Such a warm, wonderful place.
Yes, so lovely there! I got Dasein Summer, Eau d’Italie Jardin du Poete, Andrea Maack Coven, quite a few samples and a discovery set or two! Couldn’t help myself – our choices in South Africa are quite limited. Can’t wait to (hopefully) go to Twisted Lily again soon!
I just got a sample of Coven. It’s really growing on me. Twisted Lily’s great. I live in Brooklyn but I ordered samples on line from them. I’m very lazy lol.
You smell lovely Robin.
I wore a dab of the original Tiffany Eau de Parfum this weekend and now I have a new love (of course I do).
Haven’t decided which of my samples on my desk I’m in the mood for just yet, but I’m leaning towards my dabber sample of Keiko Mecheri’s Attar de Roses, which, though sweet, I rather like.
I loved the Tiffany fragrances. My favorite was Trueste.
Saw that on Fragrantica – that one looks good too! Plum + rose = sold.
Tiffany’s a pretty one. Big ’80s-style floral bouquet, but that’s right up my alley – I only have a sample of it but it’s very nice.
I didn’t even think a “floral bouquet” would be my style, but it seems I was wrong. Or maybe it’s because there’s rose and ylang (a note I’m beginning to realize I like) in said bouquet. And then that nice sandalwood in the base. Mmmm.
Sounds like an interesting bunch, I think I need to smell the Rose & plum one too!. Ylang Ylang is also a note I’m realising I like a lot, I tried Ylang 39 in Liberty a few weeks ago, and really liked it.
I didn’t even know they had fragrances. A good excuse to stop in the store 🙂
Do they have the scent in store? That would be lovely. I just have no idea because I don’t often stop there. 🙂
I don’t know but our suburban one is closeby. I can look at the jewelry and know I would rather buy perfume!
Enjoy your new love
Thank you dear! Enjoy your work countdown – soon you shall be free!
I wore Tiffany in the 1990s…such an elegant fragrance! I did not know that it was still around….and I say go for Attar de Roses from your samples at work!
Isn’t it lovely? I hope there’s no issue of poor reformulation, because now I want it badly…
And I went for the Attar – sweet and cheerful, which is much needed today.
I may as well not post for the rest of the summer since I’m more or less always wearing PdE Corsica Furiosa these days.
While I really didn’t want a 100ml bottle initially, I’m glad I caved because I am wearing and enjoying the heck out of this. So glad I got it 20% off because I have a hang-up of never wanting to pay full price for a full bottle.
I know the bottle design change up threw some people for a loop, but in person it’s quite lovely and doesn’t look at all like a shampoo bottle. The cap is quite weighty, the bottle itself is beautifully done and the label is very minimalist, which is just fine by me. The pièce de résistance is the spray mechanism. It ensures the most PERFECT application of scent! It’s very smooth, almost like a pneumatic door hinge, and the nozzle delivers an extremely fine and diffuse mist of the perfume. The best spritzer I have encountered.
I’m in the AC looking out my window into the swamp that is my back yard, and watching T-Rex hunt for grasshoppers, bouncing around like a Pronghorn. I worked up a sweat just getting dressed this morning. Sheesh.
Happy Monday all ????
I don’t mind reading your post of the same thing everyday ????
I second that! Nice when you find something you love so much you want to demonstrate monogamy!
Oh, there’s that “M” word…????
Thank you but I feel it only fair to mix it up a bit ???? I still have some perfume oils I have been trying and liking but I generally wear those in the evening after spin/shower and alway forget to mention them. Sometimes I wear up to 3 different perfumes in a day! Is that crazy? Am I a hot perfumista mess?! If so, I’m enjoying my own messiness!
You smell marvelous.
I love a perfume bottle with a substantial cap. A wimpy cap makes me wince.
Thank you! And yes, I totally agree about the cap ????
Looks like 100ml may not be too much. We’ll still enjoy the T-Rex updates!
I think you may be right????
Application does make a big difference. I also appreciate a good, as you put it, spray mechanism. Glad you’ve found your signature scent for summer.
Well, not sure if it’s “signature” or not but it does this really neat trick of somehow resetting my mood. It’s like an antidepressant/anti-anxiety medication, or maybe more along the lines of wearing a garland of garlic or a crucifix to ward of the bloodsucking vampires of the world. Somehow, it just makes me feel a bit happy-go-lucky ????
Love hearing about what T-Rex is up to. Such a delightful doggie doof.
She is that! And unaware of her own doofyness, which of course makes her all the more endearing ????
Not wanting to pay full price isn’t a hang-up, it’s just good sense! I generally refuse to pay full price for *anything*, unless it’s absolutely necessary.
I like your style????
This made me pull out my small decant of CF, about which I have gone back and forth. It smells pretty great today.
Also if you see this Deva, which form of Onda do you like best? Recommend? I am leaning toward the Extrait if and when I am ever allowed to buy perfume again.
I have tried the edp and the VdE, and very much prefer the VdE. The edp is a bit too “fruity” for me, while the VdE is deeper, darker, and more melancholically gorgeous. The edp is probably more wearable and “friendlier,” giving it the advantage if you’re looking for an everyday scent. Hope that helps, maybe someone could chime in about the extrait?
This does help and confirms my nose. I prefer the EDP in Mito but in Onda, thr richness is undercut by the additional notes. The Viole doesn’t work for me as well as the Extrait. So now I’ll start counting my perfume pennies!
I have been wearing Dia the last few weeks. Still love it but the reformulation lacks a lot of sillage it used to have…
Today wearing Neroli Portofino….best of it ? I get those whiff’s the whole day..so nice!!
But I heard it’s reformulated as well last year???
Let’s hope not!
Neroli Portofino is a good one. Love Tom Ford fragrances!
I started the day in Olfactive Studio Lumiere Blanche, but have just spontaneously bought Angel Muse, after spraying it once and smelling my wrist for about 10 seconds. It’s really nice and well done and Robin’s review is spot-on. I mostly get the ‘Angel accord’, the hazelnuts, the fruit syrup and the vetiver.
Lumière Blanche is incredible!!! A generous friend gave me ~3 mL that spilled in transit. I have a paltry 0.5 mL or so left. I was so sad.
It’s a lovely, lovely scent. I’ve worn it since it was launched and don’t plan to stop any time soon. It’s truly versatile, something you could wear to the beach and to a cocktail party and I especially love it on days when the weather cannot decide which season it is. Like today.
(And I have not forgotten my promise. I’m waiting for the spray vials to arrive from China…)
I am patient! I’ve plenty of other things to try as I wait 🙂 Thanks, though!
Have you tried any of the other OSs? If so, what do you think of them?
Yes, I’ve tried all of them and I think they are all well done – some more exciting than others. The only other OS I own is Panorama – I find it quite unique. I like Chambre Noire, too.
I’ve never see them on discount sites, but that doesn’t mean much: I’m hopeless as a bargain hunter and buy most if my fragrances in actual shops.
But really, have you ever seen it on any discount sites? (I haven’t yet, but I won’t stop looking!)
I agree Robin’s review of Angel Muse is spot on – it is smoother and has hazelnut, but is still unreservedly Angel. If I felt comfortable wearing the Angel accord I would get it too. Enjoy!
I like the original, but it was never quite enough to buy a full bottle. This is more me and I’m so thrilled to have found a new mainstream scent I really enjoy!
And a very happy Monday to you, too! Spent all morning in a very long group meeting, then went to a defense party that ended with Disney music accompanying lipsyncing videos we made in lab, so now I’m sleepily stuffed and quite happy with the world. Nothing like finally hunkering down to do some work to rid me of that happy glow.
After a week of highs in the 80s, the skies have turned grey, the air wet and cool. I gave myself some generous sprays of Fille de Berlin to get me through the day–a little too sticky in this humidity, but gorgeous anyway.
I have to say, I was so incredibly pleased by this weekend’s poll. I’ve written up a long list from all your suggestions and look forward to slowly working my way through all those books. I love this community.
Oh, damit. Missed the poll. You smell nice.
You smell lovely
You smell lovely. Haven’t worn that in a while – time to break it out again.
I missed the poll too, but plan to go back and make my own list from the suggestions. The Alexander Chee book is definitely on my list since I met him at a literary event last year – he was warm and lovely.
I read the poll last night and shared some of the science fiction choices with my husband, who loves the genre. He was a bit baffled by the source but happy for the choices. He is gradually learning about the vast intellectual powers of “fragrance heads”.
Never, ever underestimate a perfumista.
😀
That’s what I tell my boy every day. I say it in a menacing tone, though.
You know where he lives… ;^)
You smell great!
Good Monday Morning to everyone! First I wanted to say that my thoughts and prayers go out to my neighbors down in Florida. Texas is sending love your way. My heart goes out to all of the families and friends that were affected by this horrible incident.
My SOTD is Knot by Bottega Veneta. Haven’t pulled this one out in a while, so it was a nice change.
I seriously doubt that I have anything by Kenzo, but I will check my sample stash.
Hope everyone has a great week. 🙂
Also wearing Knot today. It is a really pretty orange scent, but not bright orange, more like an almost coral orange . Wonder why they called it Knot? Does it have to do with leather goods of this company (gorgeous purses!), or was it their wedding perfume? Hmmm….
Good question. I always wish I could pick some perfumers’ brains and figure out how they come up with some of the names. What’s their inspiration behind it…..
I’m sure there are a lots of interesting stories behind some of the names.
The name does indeed come from their leather goods. It refers to the closure mechanism on one line of their clutches:
Hence the decoration on the bottle cap
http://www.bottegaveneta.com/ca/clutch_cod45234985fm.html
Obviously, no affiliation 🙂
We have continuing cool, springlike weather today, so I’m taking advantage and wearing Alahiiiiiiiine! Inhale … sigh … inhale … sigh.
Love Alahiiiine
I really have to try Alahiiiiine! I’ve been holding off because I thought it would be too sweet from the amber, but I’m coming around to that now. I don’t know if I should be thrilled or dismayed. 😉
I have a tenuous relationship with amber, and I first tried Alahiiiiiine in the heat and it made me queasy. Fortunately, I tried it again in cold weather and had a different experience (good).
Thanks, Elisa P! Then I won’t be overly eager with it in the heat. . .
I like this in cooler weather. You are so close, I could get a small atomizer sample off to you so you can test by the end of the week.
Ooh! That would be wonderful! If it heats up here, I can just crank the a/c. 🙂
I’ll send you an email in a sec.
Inspired by austenfan, I’m in Diptyque Eau de Neroli (until it fades). I have quite a collection of neroli/orange blossom samples to cope with the summer heat. This is one of the warmer, creamier ones, I think, though not as warm as Penhaligon’s.
Last day of work before I get a five day vacation. SOTD is Gucci Rush.
Happy vacation!
Yay! Vacation and you smell lovely
PERFECT fragrance for the last day of work!!!!! Rush is definitely fun!
Enjoy your holiday! And you smell lush.
Once a mass shooting has ripped through your community, you are never quite the same, and every time it happens somewhere else you feel it all over again. How could this happen? Why? Why here? It’s been a little over nine years since the shootings at Virginia Tech, and I will never forget.
I don’t have enough Kenzos to do a week (and it’s definitely too hot for l’Elephant!), but I might get out my 1990s Parfum d’Ete. Then must go pack up the caving clothes my younger son forgot he needed for this afternoon’s PE camp activity. 🙁 Gah. He’s 15, but he’d forget his head if it wasn’t attached.
Sorry you are having a bad morning- I believe love will win and your son will remember his clothes one day ????
I often ask what will it take in our country, and sometimes I do despair. Safe spaces- schools, churches, clubs- are invaded by people who can get a gun far easier than a person can drive a car..
Yes. Well said.
I can’t believe it’s been nine years already. That was so brutal. As was this weekend of course. Sending all comforting thoughts as you relive the trauma…
I know what you’re going through. Sending a hug, I wish I knew what else to do.
Hugs to you, mals. I’m in the boat with you. My community was robbed of precious lives and the service of our Congresswoman, and every new shooting makes the loss feel fresh. It’s unacceptable. (And yet clearly acceptable, to a portion of society.)
The whole thing makes me want to move back to Canada.
Sadly, I wouldn’t get overly hopeful about Canada. Although very few people are killed at one time, we have own incidents, especially in relationship to LGBTQ. It seems to be a sport in Vancouver for yahoos from the suburbs to come into town to harass gay people. Usually it is “only” taunts or beatings, but one man was beaten to death with a baseball bat.
Canada still allows the “provocation” defense, aka the “gay panic” defense.
Gosh, Lindaloo, your post opened my eyes and broke my heart. I really had no idea that was a defense.
There is one positive note: here in BC such crimes are investigated and prosecuted as hate crimes. Anyone found guilty of a hate crime automatically has their sentence increased.
Jour d’Hermes Gardenia
My thoughts to the victims and the LGBTQ community in Orlando.
Frank Langella won the Tony for best actor in a play (Father) last night and gave a very moving speech related to the tragedy. It’s on multiple sites. I love how the arts community can assist in pulling us up and bringing us together after bad things happen. They are better at expressing the pain and the needed hope than I could be.
SOTD is Miyako by Auphorie. Golden osmanthus- I smell peach and apricot in a leather satchel.
Frank Langella is everything. The Tony simulcasted last night was wonderful and joyful and an deeply needed uplift to spirits.
I will have to hunt that down and watch it. I have loved FL since seeing him in Dracula when I was a kid. Still think he’s the best dude in that role to date.
Thanks for the info about Langella’s Tony speech. I have now watched the clip — moving and important.
I tried Auphorie and go wet basement / mildew. Will try again as I understand it is a shape-shifter.
I love your no nonsense descriptions. It did need some skin time.
I have three Kenzos, but I’m probably going to only wear the one I choose to wear on Friday. Today I’m in Atelier’s Rose Anonyme.
How are you liking the Rose Anonyme? I tried it when I first received my Atelier sample box but did not know what to make of it…I usually don’t have much luck with synthetic oud although I get on fine with agarwood (oud essential oil)
SotD is La Chasse aux Papillons, my favorite yellow-green floral.
It’s a perfect honeysuckle flower for about 20 minutes then gently wafts away like a butterfly, which is nice as I have an appointment with my ophthalmologist this afternoon. I don’t want to overwhelm.
Ha! Reminds me of Spongebob:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NftuIbfii9Y
Years ago my summer days were often an on-going battle to get Spongebob turned off and the kids off the couch. No more! Time marches on.
Ugh, I am in my late 30s and sometimes SpongeBob and a hot cocoa is just the thing…!
I’ll see your late 30s and raise you two parents in their 60s. ‘The Camping Episode’, in particular, is a cure to most ills!
LOL! Okay, you win! And I do agree- The Camping Episode is brilliant, and that song is the very definition of a earworm!
Yep, earworm. “…but it’ll help if you just sing along (bom bom bom)…” And now it’s stuck in my head! ????
You had me at SpongeBob! ????
Resurfacing- I feel less horrible, if that is a thing.
SOTD: Cool and grey this morning, and with highs in the upper 60s, which is so strange- we had such hot weather in the spring, and now in midsummer we have spring temps?!
Am in body products- Oscar Blandi Jasmine Shampoo+Conditioner, and Camamu Vetiver+Clove soap. Also- Joy on the wrists.
Seems a good combination, and glad you’re feeling better!
Very floral/green/spicy! And thanks! 🙂
Welcome back! Love the smell of Oscar Blandi.
Hey Robin! 🙂 And it’s such a wonderful soft jasmine scent!
Yes, feeling less horrible is definitely a thing. Hope you continue to improve.
Oh, thank you so much! Grief, I think, just weaves itself in our being and we keep on, with sadness in our fiber. Hopefuly, I will be kinder and more loving and enjoy life more!
Wearing nothing but rosemary oil today in sadness for Orlando.
“There’s rosemary, that’s for remembrance. Pray you, love, remember.”
Oh, perfect. I have hardly processed Orlando yet. I meant to use something from Orlando for the image today but just couldn’t.
I know. Heart broken, mind boggled, tongue tied.
I thought the black was expressive. Thank you for that.
Can’t take credit for it in that sense — really picked it because I’m wearing the Nirvana Black. But it does fit.
I have little to process but anger. And that is a lot. Tired of the futility of sharing and empty gestures. I feel that I should apologize somehow. Anger is also futile. I’m running on empty.
I’m totally getting that feeling of helplessness, too. I guess the only thing I can do is not change the channel when it’s too painful to watch.
It’s hard at this point to be brave… yet crucial to keep looking.
I hear you and concur. Every time you think the limit has been reached, there’s yet another abyss just beyond it. It wears you out.
And there is pansies, that’s for thoughts…
So far I only have thoughts, and too few words for Orlando.
Oh man, YES. The brain train is speeding down the track, can’t seem to stop trying to figure out WHY and finding no good answer.
That’s because, sadly, there is no good answer.
I think about those kids, dancing, and then – this. It’s too much for words.
It is unfathomable.
Happy Monday! SOTD is Bottega Knot Eau Florale, foisted upon me yesterday by the Neiman’s SA. It made my think initially of the very tame baby of Chloe and YSL Cinema. At this point, it’s just meh. My comments in my journal are simply: nice, but I have better stuff than this. If I had to go to the office, I might think differently!! It would be a great office appropriate scent.
Happy Monday folks! I am wearing Omnia Crystalline today, from my brand new 15 ml travel spray. It’s so cute! And I got a mini of Paraiba as well. Enabler alert – overstock.com has tons of Omnias (even the original, though not as cheap!) for great prices and I have a tester of Paraiba in my cart right now – about $35 for 2.2 oz!!!!
It’s only $29 today – buying it now!
Good for you, Paraiba is lovely.
I succumbed to the lure of a Paraiba mini. Nice stuff.
I’m still trying to convince myself that I don’t need it, but it is very uplifting. I’m now going to look what the mini looks like.
What’s the deal with Omnia’s? I never tried them because I am totally intimidated and confused by the profusion of various Omnias. Is there one *best* Omnia? Is that more like soccer players cards “collect them all”?
The original is generally considered the best, and Paraiba the most cheerful.
https://nstperfume.com/2015/12/10/bvlgari-omnia-paraiba-fragrance-review/
If you read this you’ll get a good idea about the Omnia saga.
I love the original scent but beware the “spray mechanism”- it seriously stinks. ????
Intoxicated by Kilian today. Somebody mentioned longevity problems, so I am trying it out for longevity.
Update: at 3pm, it is still going strong, and I am kind of tired of it. This scent is great in shorter doses
hahaha.. I was wondering about longevity. Not a good sign if the longevity you want you actually get but then don’t want after all. 😛
Yeah, it is almost like drinking too much coffee 🙂
I dreaded coming to work today because I feel constantly in danger of a political conversation I don’t want to participate in erupting around me. I’m not even sure anymore if my level of worry is in line with the actual likelihood of it happening, but I’ve worn myself out being constantly on guard.
Wearing Musc Maori because it’s so comforting.
Ugh. I send you strength and calm.
I know how you feel. We’re never supposed to discuss politics or current events at the service desk, but our patrons do. Sometimes the rhetoric makes me want to shriek. It takes so much energy to keep the peace.
Good luck, Eleebelle! One of the major downsides of cubicles is learning things about one’s coworkers and their attitudes that are disappointing or annoying. It’s very hard to get work done with such conversations raging, too. I used to get up and take a little walk through the hallways to get away from it.
Wishing you calm and fortitude for the day.
I’m Tokyo Milk Bittersweet today because sometimes you just want to smell like chocolate.
Thumbs up on smelling like chocolate!
I will second that…chocolate anything 🙂 !!!!
Of course.
I often do. I was just about to buy some Pacifica Mexican Cocoa the other day and was horrified to find out they only have soap and home fragrance now 🙁 Need to go searching at Whole Foods to see if they have any old ones around!
Yes…that one was axed…unfortunately…my local health food store still carries residual bottles…definitely check at Whole Foods as you might get lucky…the solids are also discontinued so if you like those and they are still selling at Whole Foods do stock up!
I sampled that one a while back. I liked it but it was a bit too “fresh spicy” for my liking. I hope you find it, though!
If you don’t find it, La Via del Profumo does a fabulous Amber Chocolate. 🙂
Also, CSP does a great job with the thrifty Amour de Cacao. Tonight I’m going to layer this with Fresh Cream- pretty sure I will smell delightful!
Yes you will!
Of course. 🙂
I can’t get enough of chocolate scents these days. Not sure why other than they’re very comforting and comfort is needed more and more in this crazy world.
They are comforting. I have to say this one’s my favorite of all the ones I’ve tried across the price spectrum(which is only a handful). Not too sweet, not too complicated. More cocao than chocolate, really.
Still having a little infatuation with Memo’s Marfa. I don’t really get any tuberose, more of a dry woodsy scent with a creamy base from the vanilla and ylang ylang. It also has that same “agave accord” that is in JM’s Blue Agava & Cocoa (which I love), but with more focus on vanilla, instead of cocoa. Overall, its less sweet and less gourmand.
I also caved and ordered a sample of Alahiiiine (had to join the club) and I totally get it, it’s GORGEOUS! Unfortunately, in the 100+ heat, it was a little too much for me, but it is at the top of my list for fall/ winter. Think I’ll bring it as one of my vacation travel scents to try next month in much cooler weather 🙂
Adore Alahine… but not in summer. 🙂 It’s one that I strictly keep for cool weather.
It cooled off a little here today, so I used that as an excuse to put on some Nanban, something probably better in the fall. I’m definitely enjoying it.
So so good for fall and winter, but sometimes I like the summer spicy and woody too. I had a dab if this on yesterday.
I wanted something big and bold today so Blonde it is. I have a little bottle of civet tincture and I’m thinking about making a dirty Blonde.
????
Just opened Pantone black. Very funny. I have two Kenzos, I think, both OK for summer wear, but today–still cool but NO WIND–I’m wearing Hermes Cologne again. Yesterday I sprayed myself with Waltz No. 14, Tokyo Milk, partly to see if it was still good. It is and gosh, it lasted all day! And I still like it.
Haha! I just got that. Probably a disappointing video.
Today I’m wearing Lalique Amethyst.
We are overrun with Gypsy moth caterpillars in my area. I was gardening yesterday and they are hanging from our trees like paratroopers. My hubs had to power wash our cars because they were gross and they are all over the back of my house. They are everywhere and are eating everything. Ugh… disgusting things. I haven’t seen anything like this in years.
SOTD is Alaia for keeping it easy Monday.
???? Like paratroopers! But, seriously, eww!!!
Wish the birds would eat them. As I was bending over the flower bed, sections of leaves were floating down continuously. I don’t know if our trees will survive.
Oh, they are horrible. Just horrible.
Oh boy. Ick. How do you get rid of them?
We could spray the trees with some type of natural pest control like neem oil and a coworker heard soybean oil may work. But I’m not sure how much it will help and it would be very expensive even if we tried to do it ourselves. Some of our trees are huge. It really isn’t practical. I killed hundreds of them this weekend but it’s a drop I the ocean.
That sounds miserable
Today I’m in Quel Amour! courtesy of the freebiemeet–thanks MMKinPA!
OK, a question about Chanel and Les Exclusifs: Does anyone have any idea what is going to happen to the stock of EDTs during/after the switch??? Could they go on sale? Got to the discounters?
Wouldn’t that be nice but doubtful. From what I understand, Chanel keeps pretty tight control of distribution which is why you’ll never see the exclusifs on a discount website. At least, I never have.
I’m thinking about ordering a few bottles too.
I ordered one last night–to save the expected $25 difference. But see my reply to chocolatemarzipan below…
Forgive my being out of the loop: what switch are we talking about?
Hajusuuri said last week that a NYC SA told her… that Chanel is relabeling the EDT Les Exclusifs to EDP. However, they are not changing the formula. Basically more money for the same repackaged juice.
Oh goodness. Well then. They’re on a quite a tear, aren’t they.
years ago the regular Chanels used to show up on fragrancenet and other discount websites…never the exclusives though…..I have heard a rumor that the EDPs they are coming out with will the same strength and formulation as the current EDTs but the price will go up dramatically….I have wanted to purchase my beloved no 22 (which I wore in the early 1980s before it became an exclusive) forever but now I am miffed about the price increase and am torn between do I buy or do I not buy? I have enough perfume to last me a really long time so I really don’t need it…and I have a sample vial that I can sniff from time to time just for nostalgic sake……
OK so Petunia just confirmed that it isn’t a rumor…that really makes me mad…..enough to boycott…..and now the decants aren’t even available anymore!
I grilled Hajusuuri about it last weekend to be sure that I understood clearly. I don’t remember the exact time frame for the change but plan to buy a few of the EDTs next week. If anyone remembers please pipe up.
Perhaps this will be helpful:
http://www.basenotes.net/threads/422861-Chanel-Exclusifs-in-EDP-from-2017-no-more-EDT-production-after-Sep-2016
Unless the SA was wrong. This is second hand information but Hajusuuri sounded pretty definite.
We can cross out fingers that the SA might be mistaken. I just read the link that Holly provided….$380 will be the price hike for the same juice …just a change of label from EDT to EDP….that is really insulting! What is it currently selling for? I seem to recollect when the exclusives first came out they were in the $200 range for the large 6.8 oz…..
I would only buy the 75 ml anyway… I think they were $160. I don’t know what the larger size costs because I’ve never considered buying one. I suggest checking the Chanel website.
I have resisted buying the EDT because the longevity is so poor. The funny thing is that I wouldn’t mind paying a little more for an EDP if it was an improvement.
Petunia- I hear you! But from what I have read the EDPs are the same formulation so I don’t think the longevity will improve….we will just be charged more money!
Also possible that an SA could be… not mistaken but just that plans can change so you don’t know if the info the SA had is necessarily the most recent or finalized plan at corporate headquarters. After having been alerted to a good number of never-arrived discontinuations by people who ought to know, I’ve come to think it’s hard to be sure of what companies are going to do until the products are actually on the shelf.
Yes, sadly I had to stop considering a purchase of Box of Eels simply because I think Chanel’s business practices stink.
Wait wait, peeps, I think things are getting mixed up here! It seems like the ideas of ‘not reformulating’ and ‘same juice’ are causing confusion. So let me see if I can untangle some of this…
(1) Boy has just been released in EDP concentration, at $185 (vs $160) for 75ml and $325 (vs $280) for 200ml. So, we could guess this is likely the new prices (unless an additional increase comes in 2017).
(2) The EDTs are being changed to EDPs to match Boy (and this makes sense given all the displeasure at the longevity of most of the LE collection). So, by definition, Chanel *has* to increase the concentration; they couldn’t sell them as EDPs otherwise!! The idea of ‘not reformulating’ and keeping basically ‘the same juice’ should just mean that the *notes* aren’t being fiddled with! So they will smell the same, and not be genuinely reformulated.
(3) We’re therefore, at this point, only talking about a difference of $25 and $45–with an expected increase in longevity. So, not bad all things considered. ????
I hope you are right but I was told the same exact juice. They will just be relabeled as EDP.
If you are right, I would actually prefer to wait. Especially since the price increase, while substantial, is not huge.
Where did you get your information?
Petunia, to answer your question: Some of the info. was from that Basenotes thread Holly linked to above, and the current prices/concentration are from the Chanel website and Robin’s review of Boy.
But still: I wonder what’s going to happen to the EDTs, if any are left, after the switch is in place! I mean, do we think that *all* the EDTs Chanel has produced by September will sell out by 2017!? That seems unlikely, doesn’t it??
I would think the more popular scents will sell out.
Oy! I stopped by the Chanel boutique on 57th between Madison & 5th. Basically, what Petunia reiterated is what I heard from the SA — no change in juice concentration at all, just a relabeling to EDP AND a price increase because Chanel increases its prices every year. So, I am just passing along what I heard and I’ve already begun to make my pre-price increase moves with a back up of Coromandel (75 mL) and 28 La Pausa (200 mL), the latter of which I will keep sealed until Splitmeet and split off a small portion.
Oh, I never thought you heard wrong or reported back wrong–I trust you! I’m just convinced the SA was confused and/or mistaken, and it’s ended up freaking us all out unnecessarily. Because it just can’t be legal for Chanel to sell EDT-concentration perfume as EDP! (I mean, if that were permissible companies could just sell EDPs as extraits.)
So I don’t have additional info to add but for my two cents, it seems entirely plausible to me that Chanel might simply change their definition of EDP versus EDT, rather than change the concentrations. At least in US I def don’t think there’s any law on how fragrance companies use those terms! I suppose it’s possible Chanel could get sued for intentionally misleading customers (there was a good Planet Money episode recently about just this kind of class action suit–http://www.npr.org/sections/money/2016/04/15/474406842 ). But it’s not like the FDA is setting rules about needing to use a certain amount of fragrance oil to qualify for EDT versus EDP versus extrait. I’m sure plenty of companies already are calling things “extrait” when others might view them as more properly labeled EDP.
The definitions of edt vs edp concentration overlap, for instance edt is 4-10% and edp is 10-20%, so Chanel could legally change the descriptor without changing the formula if their scents are currently at the 10% level.
This is strange, wearing a vintage-ish no 19 in education form. It’s already gone after 4 hours. I should have stuck with my original choice of Lyrica. As soon as I get home, I am going to wear Lyric.
No Kenzos, not even a wee sample. So this week is officially “random” week for me. It started this weekend with me burning through a passel of Antonia’s Flowers samples sent to me by Pixel. Wasn’t loving them or hating them. I was just lazy and they were sitting on my dresser… It was practically a blind test as I was so lackadaisical about which scents I was wearing. Found one I liked more than the others and it turns out it is described (from the website!!) as “a watery, fruity, floral!” Ha. I can pick’m. I am wearing, loud and proud, Sogni del Mare, a watery, fruity floral. 😉
Boy, Tiempe Passate used to have a little cult following on MUA, years ago, and nearly never hear about the AF line anymore.
I know I tried it over the last 36 hours, but… oh well~!
Woot! I used the exact phrase to say I don’t have any Kenzos.
Shhhhhhh. It is our secret signal to those in the SAK (Society for Ambivalence to Kenzo). I am assuming that as you read this you are also doing the SAK handshake, and wearing the appropriate SAK mystery garment.
Clever! ????
From early spring to late fall, I always cut a bouquet of fresh flowers to Make Monday Better. One of my favorite shrubs, Mock Orange, is fully in bloom, releasing its fragrance in the garden. I brought some of its creamy white blossoms inside along with some tiny white roses and put them in my favorite blue-and-white pitcher on a soft yellow tablecloth in my breakfast room, and they say, Summer! Also some herbs from the garden – oregano, lemon balm, and a sprig of mint – in the yellow spatterware pitcher on my kitchen counter make routine kitchen duties less of a chore.
Simple pleasures for Keep-It-Simple Monday, along with my fragrance, Dame Perfumery Passion Fruit, Orange Blossom, and Vetiver. His theme of combining ‘three elements for simple, clean and pure beauty’ suits my purposeful quiet Monday, and the fragrance itself is a scent that says, Summer!
I love Mock Orange! I inherited a large Mock Orange bush when I bought my house. When in bloom, it scents that area of my yard and the bees love it. Wonderful.
Me, too! I ‘inherited’ several mock orange bushes many years ago when I bought this house. They were one of the only few remnants in a long-neglected garden, half-dead from being strangled by some serious jungle-type vines. Although we got rid of the vines, the shrubs succumbed to their long period of choking. When we needed a new shrub for another part of the garden, I made sure we bought the old-fasioned fragrant variety, just like the one we lost, and it has thrived beautifully.
I have three mock orange plants that get sun on and off that were planted about 15 months ago. So far, no blooms at all… I will try to reason with them, again!
Sounds like you need a plant whisperer. There IS such a thing. I would link to it if I know how to copy and paste web links on my iPad.
Love blue and yellow together.
I am so not a ‘blue’ person; it’s one of my least favorite colors, I hardly ever wear it and don’t have much of it in my house. Yet blue and white and yellow is my most favorite summer color combo. I once visited a friend’s lake house; you could see the lake from the back windows clear through the house from the moment you opened the front door. The whole house was done in blue and white and yellow, and I could have just stayed there – permanently – if they’d let me!
Mock orange is a new favorite flower of mine!!! I found a few tree-like bushes near lab and helped myself to a few branches laden with fluffy flowers. They perfumed my whole apartment for a couple weeks 🙂
Oh, lucky you, yes, they are wonderfully fragrant, aren’t they? An elderly neighbor down the block once had a magnificent mock orange shrub. When she died, her little house was torn down and a new, overly-large one was built. Most of the shrubs were removed but the mock orange was left, probably because it bordered on a neighbor’s property. Over the years that area has been neglected and it’s full of unidentifiable ‘green.’. Yet when I walked by the other day I was so happy to see – and smell – several branches of the original, now almost-hidden from view, mock orange, had made their way through the overgrowth and were blooming blissfully in the sunshine. It so made me smile!
I love what you are wearing today….it is one of my favorite Dames!
Yes, it’s a very pretty one, isn’t it, very summery. I like all the ones I’ve tried thus far. Cassis, Rose, and Sandalwood is my most favorite, by far!
What, it’s Monday?! Sprayed on some No. 19 before I ran out the door. Did remember my lunch, but forgot my watch…
Two out three isn’t bad. You can always rely on your cell for the time.
I hate forgetting my watch, and/or a bracelet and/or earrings. I have also forgotten to (or really ran out of time) to wear make-up. I probably could get away with not wearing any but I don’t want to scare anyone. Ha! actually, I am not as traumatized by forgetting make-up because, thanks to La Mer, my facial skin looks a lot better than it did 3-4 years ago.
Are y’all aware that Dame Perfumery just added six more to the soliflore collection…Wisteria, Orange Flower, Lily of the Valley, Honeysuckle , Peony and my mind is blanking on the last one …..
the senior moment has passed….Freesia….
Thanks for mentioning; I hadn’t heard but just checked the website and, yep, they’re all there. Surprised he hasn’t yet sent an email to his regular customers. I love the rose and osmanthus and am very interested in peony and wisteria!
Oh, thanks for mentioning that. As soon as I’m sure we aren’t buying any more #!%$ car parts, I’ll have to place an order. I love the first soliflores for their quality and value, even the ones I don’t reach for.
Not feeling particularly well today (though better than I did when I first woke up this morning.. maybe got a little bit of a bug.. or just inhaled too many bleach fumes when I was cleaning my bathroom yesterday), so I just wanted something not too strong but pretty and springy, so I went with the Demeter Trifecta: Dirt, Honeysuckle, and Tomato.
Sounds like an interesting combo. I can’t deal with bleach fumes. Super irritating. I hope you feel better!
Feel better soon. Bleach fumes do it to me, too.
Feel better, sweetgrass. I have Dirt (TY Oakland Fresca) and Tomato, but no Honeysuckle or I would have tried to concoct my own Trifecta!
L’ambre merveilles today. June Gloom here. Sick with a painful sore throat, which was initially accompanied by a fever, and to my dismay has been around now for a full week, and apparently isn’t strep. Lots of green tea and honey and soup. Looking forward to feeling well again.
Oh I’m so sorry. I hope you heal quickly.
Hope you feel better soon! You smell good.
My son is having the same thing!!! I think there is a bug making ways around
Yuk, nothing worse than being sick in summer. Hope the L’Ambre comforts you and you get better soon.
I hope you feel better. You have to be in tip-top shape for your shopping spree at tbe end of the month!
My in-laws have a similar sounding bug. Hope they aren’t contagious this weekend when we visit and hope you feel better.
Hope you’re on the upswing tomorrow!
I have five Kenzos: Amour, Parfum d’Ete, Ça Sent Beau, 7:15 AM in Bali, and Pour Homme. I think Amour is the most unusual, with a Burmese thanaka wood note. According to Fragrantica and other sources, that note is also prominent in PG Indochine, which I bought recently.
Today it’s Parfum d’Ete, which is somehow both fruity and heavy – to heavy for summer, actually. (I have the older version with the frosted leaf.) It reminds me slightly of FM Le Parfum de Therese, but the fruit in the latter is more melon-like. I can’t figure out why I don’t love it.
I’m wearing Guerlain L’Heure Bleu today, and it smells so pretty.
My son’s wedding was this past Saturday, and everything went so smoothly. It was such a beautiful ceremony and such a fun reception. Perfect, happy day!
Rainy and yucky day today. Earlier this morning, I brought a large piece of wedding cake to my husband’s workplace. I sliced it up, put it on a pretty platter, and brought napkins, forks & paper plates. It will be a good midday snack for everyone there. I’m not going to venture out of the house anymore today. Lots of thunder, lightning and rain still going on.
Glad to hear all went well with the wedding. A good start to a new stage of life – and a new family!
Thank you!
Inquiring minds want to know: which fragrance did you wear for the wonderful event?
Prada Candy Florale. The lemon and caramel was very soothing. I wore it the whole day, and into the night 🙂
It really is a lovely scent. so glad everything went well!
Congratulations!
Congratulations!
Congratulations!
SOTD =by Killian Amber Aoud. I get oud at the opening which shifts to amber with various fresh facets I have yet to sort out. This smells great to me and I get all sorts of compliments. Even the woman who has the chemical sensitivities said ” I smelled something and was afraid but then I saw it was you! You smell good, which is not something I ever say to anyone…you pick fragrances that don’t bother me.”
🙂
This is why I now have a FB, besides having no budgetary discipline.
🙂 The luxury of no budgetary discipline!
I had a sudden desire for Gris Clair today, I haven’t worn it for a long time, so it will almost be like wearing something new 🙂
I love when that happens!
Day 5 of Eau des Merveilles. Was worried I’d start getting weary of it but so far I seem to love it even more, if that’s possible. I seem to notice more of its development and the tiny differences day to day. Lesson learned.
Nice 🙂
Coming to the end of our fortnight’s holiday with friends near The Woodlands, Texas – will be sad to leave; have been wearing Penhaligon’s Bluebell throughout our stay, as the male half of our hosts just adores it. We’ve been ribbing him for sniffing me at every available opportunity! A tad disappointed with the fragrance selection at the Nordstrom here – was so looking forward to my first visit at this relatively new shop – mentioned on here previously I had hoped to find a bottle of Bond No. 9 High Line, but Sephora not stocking it yet (if it’s true that they intend to) & Nordstrom no longer have any of the range on display. Other than that, have had a lovely time – road trip & overnight stay in San Antonio, visits to Huntsville (the Prison Museum is interesting!) & Beaumont, & a great deal of eating out, which is my favourite hobby! No doubt the north east of Scotland will be half the temperature it’s been here when we get home on Thursday after, oh joy, an overnight flight.
Sounds like a fantastic trip, despite the lack of decent fragrance shopping.
SOTD – Hajusuri patented combo of Fresh Cream body cream and choco musc
🙂 The only difference is I used the Fresh Cream perfume instead of the lotion.
Thank you for the Pantone Black, Robin. Very appropriate for today. Wearing En Passant today and trying to process what happened in Orlando.
Thought the Pantone Black was the perfect pic of the day for today, Robin. No Kenzo for me in any shape or form, so will try to make a dent in the sample stash this week.
Thoughts and prayers to Orlando, and to anyone feeling down from this latest batch of senseless violence.
SOTD. = Chanel No.19 EDP
It may be a Groundhog Day week for me with No.19, not the least of which because I don’t have any Kenzo perfumes, not even a wee sample. I tried to acquire a sample at Sephora in NJ and no luck. I’m looking forward to reading everyone else’s picks.
I did some retail therapy this weekend (counting Friday). The perfume confessions are: 75 mL bottle of Coromandel and yes, the humongo bottle of 28 La Pausa because I am heavy-handed with it. I will keep the La Pausa sealed until Splitmeet and will likely split off a portion of it. I made my Saks round and got three 4 mL samples of Prada Purple Rain and 2 others (one that has amber and vanilla and the other one that is leather-centric…I don’t recall the names). My Nordstrom SA plied me with lots of samples which will go in the next Freebiemeet.
Speaking of the Freebiemeet, I have not yet sent anything out even though they are all already split into batches. I’ll mail them out in the next two weeks but only after fulfilling a swap and a belated freebie.
In other news, I got really annoyed today on the way to Penn Station to catch my train home. At the corner of 35th and 6th, I saw a photographer and some people milling about. A woman witb a walkie-talkie stopped me and told me to walk on the south side of the street. I just looked her in the eyes and said “No, I need to keep going on THIS side of the street.” By the looks of it, she was not having any luck diverting people. The audacity! She should have gotten a permit and had a police barricade and / or yellow tape blocking that corner if no one is supposed to be going down the sidewalk.
Last but not least, my heart goes out to the families of both living and deceased victims. We lost someone in the company and although I did not know him personally, we all grieve for this senseless loss.
OK, I’ll confess too: I raided my b-day money/savings and ordered the 75ml of 31RC last night. I just couldn’t sit on my hands any longer.
So sorry to hear someone from your company was a victim. It’s horrible.
Some perfumes are so worth getting and 31RC is definitely one of them. Congratulations. Now you’re probably on time out by your wallet 🙂
We got the news about the 1 dead and actually 1 employee injured and numerous employees with a family member either dead, hurt or witnessed the horror.
Holy cow, that’s awful!
Yes, I’m decidedly on a wallet timeout now. ???? (But it was sooo worth it!) Of course, this means I will immediately run across something else at a freakin’ steal of a price…
I wish I had your magnetic ability to attract perfume samples. It must be your perfumista charisma.
Odd thing about your lack of Kenzo: each time I go into an Ulta (there are 3 within my shopping radius) it smells like someone has just finished spritzing Flower. It sticks to me like lovely powdery glue. I’m looking forward to Friday to find out if anyone else finds Flower so long-lasting.
Very sorry to read about the loss within your company. These tragedies touch us all. After fighting the gall bladder monster these past several years I’m not eligible to give blood, so I’m donating to the Red Cross. It’s a small thing, but it helps me hold on to the idea that something can be done to help.
Thanks, tiffanie. It’s a sobering reminder for me to be a better person because one never knows when one’s time on this physical world will end.
Before the first freebiemeet, I gave away a bunch of samples to a lovely NSTer and easily another 100 or so to a Thrift Shop…they were multiplying like rabbits and I had to do something about it.
Actually, I just realized I have a decant of Kenzo Jungle l’Elephant but I did not like it the first and only time I tried it. It was a candidate for a swap or a freebie several times but every time it’s fate was almost sealed, something made me pull it back. I know exactly where it is and I will just pretend it’s not there this week.
