Hermes Muguet Porcelaine ~ new fragrance

Posted by Robin on 7 April 2016 24 Comments

Hermès Muguet Porcelaine

Hermès has launched Muguet Porcelaine, the 13th fragrance in the unisex Hermessence range. The last in the series were 2013's Épice Marine and 2014's Cuir d'Ange.

“There’s so much subtlety in lily-of-the-valley that I’ve often dreamed of sublimating it. I dived right into its fragrance in order to reproduce the beauty and supply voluptuous quality of this flower which is fragile as porcelain.” Jean-Claude Ellena

Muguet Porcelaine is a wave of delicate little bells, evoking the opalescent whiteness of porcelain. A silent flower becomes eloquent. A fragrance with a heavenly, joyful register. Luminous, cheerful and diaphanous.

Hermès Muguet Porcelaine  is available in 100 and 200 ml Eau de Toilette.

Hermes packaging/advertising is always appealing…love the green cap.

I am really anxious to try this but the boutique says not until May. 🙁 I love the packaging and have run out of my Guerlain Muguet, hoping this will be a good substitute.

Maybe if we all show our prettiest smiles, the kind SA will accept to show it to us a day early at our meetup? Let’s pray the perfume gods for it!

It’s so hard to make a real muguet these days, with material restrictions and all. I don’t even want to try the current Diorissimo. But in this case, I have hope.

I am assuming he will not really try to make a realistic lily of the valley in the manner of Diorissimo? I mean of course I have no idea what he will do, but it’s usually something other than what I would have expected from the description. I am prepared to be surprised.

Kudos to Hermes for their naming process too.
    Muguet –> Fragile –> Porcelain.
    I think it’s brilliant.

Will definitely give this a try. Leftovers of a bottle of Diorissimo via a favourite aunt in early 70s was my introduction to ‘good’ perfume.

Everything about this gets a gold star from me. Beautiful name, lovely bottle and cap. I’m excited to try it.

When you did your Cuir d’Ange review, you asked what Hermessence we were hoping for next, but no one picked muguet. I am very excited, though. This is a note that would lend itself to Ellena’s style.

I think if he’d read our thread of guesses, he’d have a big chuckle. He seems so impish.

I agree! It is not something I would have imagined him doing but the second I heard it I thought, how perfect.

I’m kind of surprised he’s attempting what his mentor “perfected” in the 70’s. But I ain’t mad. 🙂

I’m excited about this one! Hermes is my favorite perfume house these days. I still haven’t found samples of Eau de Rhubarbe Écarlate and Eau de Néroli Doré, so I have a lot to look forward to – yay!!

I immediately thought “ooh!” upon seeing this. I’m looking forward to sampling this – I’ve loved the floral Hermessences so far.

I have 2 great fragrance loves, Iris and Lily (I combine Lilies and Lily of the Valley just like Comme des Garcons hehe). For Iris I have secreted away skme Iris Pallida by L’Artisan Perfumer, and stay stocked with Bois d’Iris (both the Different Companies and Van Cleef & Arpels versions). Sometimes L’Occitanes Iris Blanc & Iris Blue. For lily of the valley I love the Commercial des Gardens ‘Lily’. I have a bottle of Diorissimo from 2007, (but it’s horrid and doesn’t smell like anything flowery until 12 hours later Then it smells like the lightest, most delectable white flower, but until then, headache inducing nightmare, was it Ever really good? I can’t imagine it. ) I have Can Cleef & Arpels Muguet Blanc (lovely if a bit,.. headstrong where it should be, airy),
I look forward to this! Jean Claude Elenna is pretty much my favorite Perfumer. I sure hope the Mugeut Porcelaine is a pleasing soliflore type comfort scent… I ordered Cuir Ange at the same time, both blind buys, wish me good smelling luck!
