Dolce & Gabbana The One Royal Night & The One for Men Eau de Parfum ~ new fragrances

Dolce & Gabbana have launched The One Royal Night, a new limited distribution flanker to 2008's The One for Men. Also new to stores is an Eau de Parfum concentration of the original fragrance.

The One Royal Night (shown above) ~ "Steeped in mystery, sophistication and masculinity, The One Royal Night is the new fragrance to join the iconic Dolce & Gabbana The One line. Part of the Oriental Woody scent family, this fragrance explores the multi-faceted world of spices and brings the richness of amber to life in a refined novel way. It is the exclusive interpretation of precious Middle Eastern ingredients with a long and rich heritage combined with new characters. With a unique and enigmatic soul, the scent’s distinctive style lies in its mystery and masculinity; it is strong but also smooth, traditional and contemporary. The One Royal Night opens with powerful notes of cardamom which gives the spicy and vigorous accord to the top notes that, together with fresh notes of basil, create the unmistakeable signature scent of The One. At the heart is wild pear wood; a unique dry woody and leathery African note, joined by spicy accent of nutmeg. The base notes reveal the fragrance’s original, soft, rounded and spicy richness with warm amber notes, together with cedar and sandalwoods, to create a luxurious and full bodied fragrance experience." Available now at Harrods in the UK, in 100 and 150 ml Eau de Parfum.

The One for Men Eau de Parfum (not shown) ~ "DOLCE&GABBANA Fragrance presents The One for Men eau de parfum, the new scent from the iconic world of The One. Offering a deeper fragrance experience, The One for Men eau de parfum is the true connoisseur's choice. For the one who represents pure masculinity and sophistication, the scent is as striking and charismatic as he is. DOLCE&GABBANA The One for Men eau de parfum offers a highly intense fragrance to appeal to the most magnetic individual. The vibrant, elegant top notes of Grapefruit, Coriander and Basil reveal the Oriental Spicy signature of the fragrance. The heart of the scent captivates with its masculinity, with warm Ginger and Cardamon working alongside charming, sweet Orange Blossom. A base of rich, intense Tobacco, sensual Ambery notes and warm Cedar wood ensure a deep and enduring impression of The One." Available now at Macy's, in 50, 100 or 150 ml.

Hmm, I really like The One for women, I went through a couple bottles before I moved up to niche. I wonder if they will do sort of an intense, oudy version with more vanilla and rose, or whatever, of the womens version for women?

As someone mentioned earlier, I have a real soft spot for the darling Dolce and Gabbana ads for all those flowery dresses, interspersed with Grandmas all in black, but with glittery sunglasses or what ever….the message being apparently, you can do whatever you want when you are old, just so long as your grand-daughters are all 6 feet tall and look like models….or, maybe I have misunderstood the point of the ads? They look cute in any case, and I bet this juice would smell good on a lot of guys….

I am sure I missed the point of the ads myself, but I thought it had something to do with Italian veneration of mothers — I think they’ve used pregnant models too.

    Wild pear wood.

Just what the fragrance world has been lacking.

The notes sound nice. I hate shopping at Macys and given the opportunity to shop at Harrods, I’ll probably skip the perfime floor too.

They do sound nice, but I would not make a special trip anywhere, even Macy’s. Dolce & Gabbana, so far, does not tend to make perfumes I like.
