Friday scent of the day 12/18

Posted by Robin on 18 December 2015 317 Comments

Cartier Évasions Joaillières bracelet

It's Best Buy Friday! Our community project for today: wear your favorite fragrance purchase of 2015. If you didn't buy anything this year, pick a favorite from a prior year.

What fragrance did you pick? As always, do chime in with your scent of the day even if you’re not participating in the community project.

I'm cheating a wee bit. I did not buy anything this year, but last year, I bought Cartier La Panthère unsniffed, didn't like it, and happily swapped it for a bottle of Cartier Baiser Volé. So that's what I'm wearing.

Reminder: next Friday we will not have a community project. But on Monday 12/28, we'll do a special Monday project...we'll be posting our annual Best of 2015 list, so wear one of your own Best of 2015 fragrances.

And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2015, where I'll try to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.

Note: the Cartier Évasions Joaillières bracelet ("Évasions Joaillières bracelet, 18K pink gold, set with 53 brilliant-cut diamonds totaling 1.47 carats, 7 pink opal beads, 7 onyx beads, 7 briolette-cut pink sapphires and 7 briolette-cut black sapphires.") is £32,900.

Pacifica’s Spanish amber for under fifteen dollars from my local health food store…bought the last bottle and it wasn’t restocked…not a good sign….I will miss this one if and when it goes :(

But if I had to choose my favorite fragrance house discovered in 2015 (thanks to NST) it would have to be Dame Perfumery….I have bought/ received every single travel size he has , and bought eight full bottles for gifts thus far for friends and family…the fragrances are great, the prices of FBs are insanely affordable (especially with the 10% discount codes), free shipping and free gift wrapping……..it’s a win-win situation!

    Happy Friday!
I am layering my two purchases from this year and I am sort of sure it’s working..
One is Shalimar dusting powder and the other is Angelique Noire.
Cold is still hanging on but getting better.
Today I am also full term! Can’t wait to meet this baby

After a couple years of only purchasing the occasional sample I went pretty crazy in the last quarter of this year, which makes it verrrrry hard to chose. I’ve decided to go wit Au Dela from the Bruno Fazzolari sample set I bought. It’s not often a sample set makes me yearn for FBs of most of the scents, but that one did so it’s my buy of the year. (And Au Dela because this day is going to need some smolder!)

Commando at the moment, but planning to wear Safran Troublant as my Best Buy 2015. Got a good deal on it at Fragrancenet and I could not be more pleased with the scent. Great as an easy-to-wear, all-purpose frag.

I am wearing Rose Boheme from Providence Perfume Company. I ordered a 15 ml bottle but the vendor must not have updated their inventory on their website. They upgraded my 15 ml bottle to a 30 ml at no extra charge because they had run out of the smaller size. I paid $68 rather than $125 for the 30 ml bottle. Since that was an unexpected bonus I was so happy! Happy Friday All!

I ordered it online. The great thing is that Sephora doesn’t exclude fragrance during the Friends and Family and VIB 20% off sales! By the time I checked out, Fleur de Chine was sold out, so I ordered the Shanghai Lily. I just noticed though that Fleur de Chine is on Fragrance Net (must be recent because it wasn’t there the last time I checked), so I’ve asked for it for my birthday next month.

Nordstrom price matches if you would rather not deal with nameless / faceless Sephora. This was how I got my Clinique Body Butter from Nordstrom at 20% off.

I had some very lucky finds this year, but I decided that the truly best buy is the one that gets used up to the very last drop. Consequently, I’m in (probably vintage-ish) Tabac Blond EDT, from the third 15ml decant I’ve gone through in record time. STC had this for a while but doesn’t anymore, and the EDT formulation isn’t seen much in the wild, which is what leads me to believe it must be a little bit vintage. I love it in extrait also, but this EDT is rich and beautiful and lasts all day and then some, and is very warm and cozy for a ridiculously rainy day here.

Hope everyone has a wonderful Friday!

My best buy this year is surely Honore des Pres Sexy Angelic, which I finally tested and fell for (other 2015 news: I love almond in perfume, apparently?), only to find it’s totally disappeared from retailers. Reportedly not discontinued but out of stock everywhere. I panicked, turned to eBay… where I found 50ml bottles for $35, inclusive of shipping from Germany! Reader, I bought three of them :)

Got one as a gift from–of course–a beyond-generous NSTer last winter and have been in love since. Smells heavenly, and perfect for this time of year (which Lush seems to know, since they only sell it seasonally–this year I’m stocking up!)

Heh, I am so happy to spread the Snowcake love far and wide!

Also, did you notice that Prada does an Infusion d’Amande now?
https://nstperfume.com/2015/05/18/prada-les-infusions-de-prada-new-fragrances/ I encountered it a month or two ago when I went into one of their boutiques looking for the new Prada Olfactories (only in NY and Milan, it turns out–boo). I kinda brushed off the opportunity to try the new Infusions, wanting to save precious skin space, but I took a paper blotter home with me and my purse smelled great for the rest of the day, so now I wish I’d sprayed some on myself! Will have to circle back sometime soon.

          • hajusuuri says:
            18 December 2015 at 9:49 pm

Ooh, C.H.! I haven’t walked into a Prada boutique lately because I did not want to get tempted with the numbered parfums. I smelled the les infusions at KaDeWe this past summer and got a sample of the oeillet – definitely FBW but I have not yet pulled the trigger thinking that I will wait until they hit Nordstrom (if they ever do) or even Sephora…

          • C.H. says:
            18 December 2015 at 10:13 pm

Oh yes the oeillet smelled very nice on paper too–ok, I’ll def have to go back and try both on skin.

And meanwhile, can’t we persuade you to go sniff the numbered ones–you know, for Science! It is a big personal risk, certainly, but maybe you’d be willing, for the sake of increasing knowledge? ;)

          • hajusuuri says:
            18 December 2015 at 11:49 pm

C.H. – I should clarify…I don’t want to be tempted with MORE of the numbered parfums :-). I have No.2 Oeillet. I had No. 4 Fleur d’Oranger which I gave away at one of the freebiemeets. I am TEMPTED by No. 8 Opoponax — it smells like orris butter but the notes are: bergamot, opoponax, galbanum, amber, labdanum and sandalwood.

But look what you made me do — I went to the website and saw the Olfactories! I missed the announcement on NST!!!!

Maybe for science I will stop by…soon. I’ll have to bring baggies to preserve the scent strips. I’ve tried my “bring your own atomizer(s)” technique on previous visits and the SA would not budge. Although…if I buy No.8, maybe they will let me have some samples….scheming…for science. (Clearly, I should be thinking about going to sleep.)

Do you find that Lush soaps don’t lather the way they used to? Is it because they no longer use palm oil?

Ooh will have to make a point to try Louve!

You know I am really such a late-comer to the Lush game that I have nothing to compare it to, but it’s true, current version is not the most lather-y soap. I sort of don’t mind tho? A nice lather is pleasing for sure but it can also make bar soap feel like it’s melting away super fast. Trade-offs I suppose!

Hello and Happy Friday all – it has felt like a verrry long week work wise. Which means I am wearing Le Parfum de Therese, as I have all week – I veer around how I feel on this one but it was bought a few years ago and sometimes is exactly what’s needed. Haven’t bought many FBs this year – I think only Fleur de Chine, and somehow that wasn’t what was needed today.

I’m one of the people who believe there was a reformulation along the way. It used to be more herby/basilic, and now the melon overwhelms it…I think it was relatively recent so if you see used bottles/samples out on ebay or something they may be the old stuff.

Hmm, I got my bottle last spring, probably the reformulation – fortunately it is neither too herbal nor too melony for me, I find it just perfect.

I couldn’t decide which thing I purchased this year rated as the best, so I’m wearing a sample of something I’m really loving – Rose Omeyyade by Atelier des Ors. For once, I can almost smell myself without shoving my wrist to my nose! I’m wearing an off-the-shoulder black shirt today and decided it suited the (work-appropriately) sultry look. May want to get a bottle of this in the next year….

Still kind of reeling from this insane week, but powering through.

Hope that all of the sickies out there have started to feel better!

    Hope everyone

I should have worn either Iris Nazarena or Iris Cendre, I bought both this year and loved both equally, but I just didn’t feel like iris today. So I’m in Mimosa & Cardamom at the moment and will wear Nanban for a party later on. Big likes, these two.

Best Buy Friday is a great idea and I can successfully participate this time.

Best, best, best EVER buy was a 100ml bottle of Kalamat, which I bought blind as a bat based on reviews I had read. On first sniff, it was true love and this zoomed right up to the top of my “Favorite Five Fragrances” list. It averaged out to about $1 per ml, free shipping from Saudi, and I am seriously thinking I need to get a BUB. Delicious stuff and Friday is a great day to celebrate, since the weekend is just about 6 hours away for me:)

Oh, and did I mention STAR WARS?!?!

I’m somewhat participating in the challenge. I’m wearing Chanel no 19 since I did find some decent deals on E-Bay for vintage. But my best deal was a sealed 4.5 ounce lyre bottle of vintage Bal for $80. I didn’t want to smell like I was bedding someone all night and didn’t bother to shower to work.

BTW, I did manage to score a backup of Havana Vanille for$60 off of E-Bay.

I’m really pleased to say that a lot of my purchases this year were great buys, both because of the price and how much I like them. Hmmm, I am with Janice, my best perfume acquistion of the year is definitely Neela Vermiere Mohur Extrait, which is not a best buy, per se, even tho I did a split with 2 lovely NSTer’s which reduced the expense. But every time I put it on, my reaction is something like, “Oh, this is soooo good, I am sooo happy to have this on my perfume tray.” LOL. Notice how I snuck in “tray” there? Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, and now my second hobby is looking for old mirrored dressing table trays to display my pretty bottles!

I found an awesome 50’s one in an antique shop for about $20 a few years ago, it has a ship design in the glass and holds about 19 bottles comfortably which I think is a nice rotation. If I had more surfaces I think I’d have to find another tray for a second ‘arrangement’!! :)

I haven’t bought that many bottles this year (by perfumista standards), and I’m at Mom’s with only decants and samples so I’m wearing the very, very last of my Equistris sample in the hopes that UPS gets off their stuff together and delivers my MiN packages. I’m also wearing a hefty dose of insect repellent since the ranch next door has introduced a fresh herd of cattle that really need to be dipped. I have three lovely huge, swollen, throbbing horsefly bites on my legs that will be huge and itchy for at least the next week :( No wearing my knee-length Christmas dress this year.
It’s a beautiful morning anyway, so I’m about to evict the purring lap-hog who is trying to help me type AND lick my toast. Amelia Pond and I are going outside to play.

Yep. In our (city) area Fedex is much more reliable and at my old job we paid about 20% more to order human tissue for transplant from a company who used them because otherwise we might have a surgery with no supplies. At Mom’s (very rural), a FedEx delivery means you’ll be lucky if the person 20 miles away who gets the entire truckload dumped at their gate decides to call around to find the proper owners.
I guess every large company has its flaws, but UPS is really dropping the ball for me lately. It seems that everyone is shipping through them right now so I would guess they’re overwhelmed. We got a package at a few minutes shy of midnight the other day.

Horse flys! Ugh. The thing where you hang some large black object and have water with a little Dawn or other heavy duty detergent in it really does help. They are attracted to what seems like the tender underbelly of an herbivore, and they dip in the water for a little sip, and the detergent gets them too wet to fly away….
Awful little insect predators! Our ponies are pestered by them, and will come running and back up to whatever human is around to have us crush the ones that bite them on their back where they can’t reach to whack them off themselves.

They really are awful! One was chasing a kitty earlier and I managed to squish it. I may have to put up some traps. I’m so sensitive to their saliva, I’m afraid I’ll get sick if I get many more bites (I’m not even going to think about all the gross diseases they carry).

My bottle purchases for the year have been generally successful, with the exception of that 15ml bottle of Providence Moss Gown that I really only bought to help out after Charna’s fire. (I need to offload it, because I’m not going to wear it. At all. And it’s decent stuff, it deserves to be loved, but this is not its forever home. :) )

I could be wearing Safari today, or I could have opened my (Haute Look sale) bottle of Penhaligon’s Ostara, but I’m going with Iris Poudre again because I’ve worn and enjoyed it all year.

I just saw on the news the other day that FedEx is really behind with shipments right now. With it being the holidays and all the scares we have had these last few weeks, they are trying to check and double check packages. They also stated that this year online purchases have increased dramatically and they don’t have enough trucks to accommodate all the packages they have. They have had to rent Uhauls to help with some of their deliveries. But, I hope you get your things soon. Waiting is the hardest.

I’m a little grumpy right now because I thought I’d have my FB of Lyric to wear for today, but I still haven’t gotten it. I ordered it on the 2nd and it still isn’t here. I’m aware the issue is very much with FedEx and not Fragrancenet, but after reading some reviews online I’m concerned I might get royally screwed if the package is lost and Fragrancenet gives me the middle finger for a refund.

Wearing Memoir today, which is a bit strong for the office, but I really don’t care.

Oh no! Wow that’s rotten, I’ve placed two FragranceNet orders in that time and both arrived–one a little more slowly than usual but just a couple days delay, not a couple weeks! Mine both came by USPS tho… Have you had any contact with FragranceNet yet? I’m keeping fingers crossed for you–I haven’t ever had a package from them go missing so I haven’t dealt with that specific issue but I have had lots of successful transactions with them, really hoping yours eventually will be successful too!

I haven’t contacted Fragrancenet yet, but thinking I might next week if the FedEx info isn’t updated. I’ll also contact FedEx to try and see if they can figure out what’s going on. I don’t mind that it’s late – it’s just for me and I get it: it’s the holiday season, carriers are slammed. But I’d like to at least KNOW if I’m getting it. The last “delivery date” said Tuesday and then nothing. Now it just says “pending”.

I had a FedEx package sit at the Atlanta hub for 4 days…..Very frustrating. It finally showed up and all is well, but I was beginning to worry! What is the issue with FedEx? UPS has been pretty normal speed lately….

So sorry about Lyric, it will come it will come..
I am having a problem with amazon delivery. I have reached out to the seller several times because I haven’t gotten the package and the seller has not responded. Its a holiday gift for my secret santa.

I am not sure if you did this but Frangrancenet is a “google trusted store” when I have made purchases I have always signed up for the google protection. If you did this, I don’t see you getting royally screwed.

If it never arrives, Fragrancenet will make good on it. I’ve had a few problems over the years, and their customer service department has always been amazing in resolving issues and issuing refunds if necessary.

The mail has been SLOW. I thought a package from Amazon had gotten lost (USPS shipping) but it finally showed up. It sounds like with Fragrancenet you should keep calling until you get a good customer service agent. It will work out. Btw, I’ve ordered from them for years but haven’t had any shipping issues.

I have never had a problem with fragrancenet and have been ordering from them for 15 years? give or take?
However, I am having a major problems with my orders from Dame Perfumery , amazon, Jo Malone, 100% Pure…it isn’t the companies but the delivery services (USPS, UPS, Fed Ex) . I think the delivery companies are so overloaded and are not delivering on expected delivery dates and packages are getting misplaced, lost , etc. I ordered two full bottles from Dame Perfumery on November 30th for my parents for Christmas and they still haven’t arrived! They are somewhere at the local post office “ready to be delivered”…if they don’t arrive soon I know I am going to have to contact someone!

Oh, you know, if they’ve made it to your local post office– I’ve had good luck calling my specific post office to inquire. Well, “good luck” is maybe an overstatement because it’s not GREAT that packages were just sitting in a corner collecting dust, but, easily resolved. Sometimes something just gets set aside and forgotten, but not really lost.

I had a hard time picking my best buy today. I really like them all. I am having some anxiety today, so I picked one with good association. Lou Lou. My greatest friend gave it to me for my birthday this year. So even if it’s a stinky day, I still smell good.

My “best buy” is defined by how often I wore it: a bottle of Byredo 1996 that I bought in February. Except for the summer months, I’ve worn the heck out of it! Worth every penny.

Am wearing not the Tom Ford Noir Femme ( which I think was one of my best grooming purchases of the year- I got the gift set which was the same price of the perfume!) but Clinique Aromatics Elixir- the tiny bottle of this is like $30, and a DAB will do you! Because of this, the botle will last forever and a day.

This is one hell of a chypre, and you really have to be in a mood to be a hell of a woman to wear this. I already had three men at work stop me and ask what is different today.

OOTD: Non ugly Christmas sweater(it’s a beautiful vintage Norwegian sweater with a very pretty pattern), jeans, short red boot and (very fake) reindeer ears!

Funny story I have to share. I got a sample of this from NM during their beauty event week. When I saw it, I automatically gave it to my brother, thinking it was for men. I never got a chance to actually smell it because I had a sinus infection at the time. He told me that it smelled amazing and he loved it but knew it would cost too much. When I finally got my sense of smell back and went to smell the sample, he drained it dry! So, I decided to purchase it for him for a Christmas gift. I have been sick since Thanksgiving and my flu turned to pneumonia, so I haven’t had the energy to be out and about. So I purchased it on line. Then I noticed it……..this is supposed to be for women (hence the name femme)….OMG! It has already arrived and I have wrapped it up and put it under the Christmas tree. I am embarrassed to say anything to him. He said he got a lot of compliments on it! Do you all think I should tell him?

AE is really very unisex to me anyway. Tell him that you know lots of people who think that a man with the balls to wear the right women’s scent is dead sexy. Some things I’ve smelled on men: Mitsouko, Coco, Fracas(!), Poison. All were wonderful.
I don’t know what the big deal is. My husband will wear a pink and lavender shirt, his favorite color is purple (he will tell you it’s black, but he lies), he willingly helps me shop for shoes, but he asks suspiciously if what I’m spraying him with is “for men”.

I didn’t buy much of anything this year. I’m wearing a homeopathic amount of Jungle l’elephant today. The one ounce size bottle I think I got for under $35 from Fragrancenet last year. Definitely less is more with this one. Just one partial spritz to the torso is the right amount for me. Used very sparingly, this one is lovely and complex as opposed to heavy and overwhelming (as it can be when over applied).

My best buy for 2015 is probably Chanel Bois des Iles, as my most worn.

But I’ve been so taken by my Ormonde Jayne samples, today I’m wearing the third, Tolu. Gorgeous! It fills roughly the same niche as Coco for me and it’s not on the same level as Ta’if, so probably not a FB contender, but I certainly wouldn’t mind if a bottle fell into my lap. ????

I’ve decided that I have to buy the complete 12-sample OJ discovery set now.

Piping up to say this seems like a good plan to me (assuming geography allows!)–for my two cents, I think liking Taif/Tolu/Champaca (those are really three of the best in the set, IMO) may not necessarily predict liking the rest, so a lightly used set could end up being plenty.

Yes I think of the ones in the set, beyond the ones you’ve already mentioned, there are probably three or four more that get a lot of love–but usually not all from the same person, I think. I myself have only been moved to buy Champaca–and then I know there are plenty of people who like OJ Woman but not any of the others–etc.

But no promises! Many of them do have a similar base, so, who knows, there is a risk it will just suit you perfectly! :)

Hello all! Finally, the chaos of work and the whirlwind that is this holiday season has granted me a brief reprieve. I fully intend to binge-read the weeks of posts I’ve missed this weekend and will get back to regularly commenting.

My Best Buy this year was a $51 lot of perfumes with Dior Dune, Estee Lauder Sensuous Noir, and Shalimar EDT. I wasn’t able to reply back to Portia on Perfume Posse, but I’ll do it here; all of these were on my wishlist and I am amazed I found them all in one place, and for such a great price!

Feeling quite lucky and grateful for the year thus far. Everyone stay warm and enjoy your holidays! :)

I’m torn between Dior Bois d’Argent and Chanel No. 19. The 19, in line with Hajusuuri’s comment yesterday, is frequently worn, and seems to have prompted a green leaning.

OTOH Bois d’Argent is such a great go to, appropriate to even the most prickly situation. Albeit not cheap. But I guess being the perfume equivalent of the UN isn’t a bargain endeavor.

In an adult take on a Christmas wish list, I’ve decided to write a thank you letter to Santa for all the good things that came into my life this year. Not done yet, but the research (calenders, checkbook, memories, photos) has been very gratifying.

    Merry merry to all!

Small celebration here so have just ordered a bottle of Canoe Skive. Unsniffed, but I love kayaking, leather and campfires so what can go wrong???!!! The postage was around NZ $50 so am expecting a nice smelling stamp…scratch and sniff. Heard back from Penguin last night and they ‘love’ my novel, and no changes necessary ( just copy editing). It will come out in July. Big relief…I tend to expect rejection. It’s my tenth and I never imagined getting to this place when I left paid work and began writing. Feeling quite proud, to be honest.

Happy Christmas ( or not-Christmas). Happy summer and winter wherever you are!

Oh, best news! I’m just starting up to buy my Christmas reading, and your novels are at the top of my list. I’m wearing, by the way, one of the perfumes from your more than generous parcel: In the Library. I love it; it’s sort of cerebral but warm.

I’m wearing Still in Bed…a mix of coffee, oats and dusty dog fur layered with honeysuckle ( thanks neighbours) and soapy carnation ( thanks Waterdragon). Driving up to ChCh to bring my mum down to Dunners for Christmas so we can argue over new potatoes vs. roast potatoes, poured vs. whipped cream…and why we are cooking enough for 12 when there are only 4 of us. Christmas! Too many cooks in the kitchen.

My Still in Bed was porridge, home-made yoghurt and berries, lightened in the top notes by warm Isabella fur, so we’re on much the same page. This is the first Christmas in 44 years together that Richard and I will be in our own home and alone together. Our plan for Christmas dinner is no plan. If it’s cold or wet (might be), we’ll stay home and cook some lamb, and if it’s beautiful (not impossible) we’ll maybe have a picnic at a beach. Richard sort of wants self-saucing choccy pudding and vanilla ice cream; I want cherries. Both those are stressly achievable.

I made several fantastic discoveries that led to purchases this year, including Stephane Humbert Lucas 777 Mortal Skin, Unum LAVS, DSH The Voices of Trees, Elie Saab L’Eau Couture, and Jeffrey Dame’s Dark Horse. I think my very ‘best buy’ of 2015 was Eric Buterbaugh’s Regal Tuberose, which I am enjoying again today.

SOTD = Chanel No. 19 EDP

Best Buy = Most Frequently Worn.

No.19 is so versatile. I’ve worn it in 90 degree weather in Tallin this summer (port stop on my Baltic cruise) and today in NYC in the 40s.

I didn’t buy anything that I consider a bargain this year, but I did do a very excellent swap: some unloved Amouage Lyric for Women (from my very first split in 2009!), for some much coveted La Fille de Berlin. So I am wearing that and it is just perfect! Swaps are the best deal ever!

Mu favourite buy of 2015 is probably my Bois des Iles extrait that I bought for my wedding. However, it felt a bit overindulgent to wear that on a ordinary day like today is so far, so I am wearing the next best thing: Cristalle, which I bought with points, so basically for free!

It will probably be petit rien (which I got a partial bottle from ebay for 30$) or theorema, which I encouraged everyone to get before it was gone from beautyencounter. It was more the year of swaps for me, which is good considering the way this year is closing out (moving, crutches, etc). I even might splash them on together.
Weird semi related topic: I use rosehip oil to moisturize, and in the best buy tradition, look for the 100% stuff at winner’s (Canadian TJ Maxx) when it turns up.
The latest bottle (10$) I bought said 100%, but smelled of baby powder roses when I put a few drops on my face. Ugh. I looked at the ingredients, and sure enough, “fragrance.” It didn’t make me break out so now I feel compulsed to use it until its gone. So every scent I wear is probably laced with this rosy stuff, which might be more acute to me, due to nasal proximity.

There’s a NZ company called ‘Trilogy’ that only do organic rosehip products….their oil is great and ok on sensitive skin. Think they ship internationally.

JJ, for what my opinion’s worth, I use Trilogy products (see Kanuka’s post) all the time. I just about marinate in the rosehip oil, in fact. No scent, very easy, does what it says on the tin, as it were. The exchange rate in your direction should be very sweet, making the postage inconsiderable. I am not connected to this company, by the way, except by the strings of long-time purchasing.

Not sure about my best buy – this was my year of complete perfume-buying craziness. I certainly can’t name a favourite, but in terms of bargains, some quite amazing prices on Annick Goutal and L’Artisan at fragrancenet, even when adding in the exchange rate and postage.

I am torn between my best bargain and my most loved purchase, so I’ll go with my best bargain which is a little of both, a bottle of Arpege perfumed lotion called Un Voile d’Arpege. After searching around the Internet, this appears to be fairly rare and from the 70s and it smells divine! I don’t slather it on because it has separated a bit, I’m pretty sure even though the bottle is black. But applied like any liquid perfume, it’s lovely. Fifty cents at an estate sale, I was so excited and had to keep my cool till I was in the car.

Most loved is En Voyage Zelda, I bought a bottle last spring and have enjoyed it so much.

fragrance purchase of the year has to be Cuir Beluga by Guerlain. I love this so much . I am getting my 2nd bottle after draining my first …too quickly I might add.
This scent caused a guy to chase me down at the gym because he could smell it 5 meters away ! He absolutely was in love with the scent . I was v surprised as I have stopped smelling it now I have used CB so frequently.
Price wise I cannot call this my best buy but in terms of happiness and smell satisfaction etc, it is.

I’m thinking my best buy will be Gourmand Coquin, which I was able to get for 42% off! Still probably overpriced, but it’ll really be unusual compared to others I have. Told my husband I went ahead and got my Christmas gift from him. He can wrap it when it arrives….

My other best buy was probably the Arquiste 57 from J. Crew. Got that on huge discount. I like it quite a bit – should have worn it but forgot.

I see all the comments of late re Jeffrey Dame. My sister and my niece love all his scents as far as I can tell.

Obviously, I could live without perfume, but I’m very glad I don’t have to, so my best buys are all of them. Sorry to be slightly Pollyanna-ish about today’s project, Robin. I hope you all get a kick out of my “senior” moment from earlier today… I was getting ready for our office Christmas lunch and being aware of today’s Friday Project, I thought I’d wear Krazy Krizia ($15 for a 50 mls. bottle!). But something made me check my list of purchases that I keep for my confession to Donatella to see if maybe I was overlooking something. I was! Krizia was bought in 1st qtr. 2014! Turns out I only bought 2 bottles (actually 1 small bottle and 1 split) this year so I wore Champagne (20 mls. bottle for $30 on ebay).

I didn’t buy much perfume this year so I’m in eau de rochas, my summer favourite! Got it on sale for pebbles. It’s not great for winter but it’s still delicious. I got a new scented candle, from Muji of all places, and it’s unexpectedly lovely – orange blossom, not soapy, good throw. They’re quite cheap and I spotted a fig room spray too, gonna have to investigate further!! Fig scent in winter is so soothing.

Ohhhh cabochard is amazing! I’m betting the parfum is otherworldly. My grandmother had an ancient bottle of cabochard bath goop, opaque dark green, and I always sniffed it when I visited as a child. I got a spare bottle of vintage edt when I helped her move this summer and it’s terrific!!

I bought a lot of perfume this year but the ones I remember off the top of my head are DSH Oeillets Rouge and Hiram Green Voyage. I’m wearing Voyage today, but both are lovely. Also memorable are DK Black Cashmere and my newest bottle, from Roja Dove’s outlet sale, Lilac extrait, which is AMAZING and would have been totally unaffordable without going in with some other people on a bulk buy to offset the ridiculous shipping charges.

SOTD was SSS Winter Woods. I finally sprang for a FB after draining a couple of sample vials of this. It is wonderful in the cool weather we are finally getting. It is really quite concentrated; one or two spritzes are enough, so the 17 ml bottle should last me quite a while.
