Derek Lam 10 Crosby ~ new fragrances

Posted by Robin on 28 October 2015 7 Comments

Derek Lam 10 Crosby

Designer Derek Lam has launched 10 Crosby, a collection of 10 fragrances named for his diffusion line (and business address) of the same name. The collection was developed under arrangements with Butterfly Beauty, the same company that produces the Elizabeth and James line.

A collection featuring 10 distinctive, modern fragrances based upon one street, 10 stories, 10 moments—an adventure, a romance, a party, a surprise...all inspired from the world seen and imagined outside Derek Lam’s window at 10 Crosby Street.

Each fragrance features the true form and essence of its raw ingredients. The scents are constructed to wear beautifully from day into night, and they have a balance of diffusion and tenacity. From fresh and floral to deep and oriental, the constructions vary from simple and chic to complex and sophisticated, yet all are modern and unique.

The fragrances are Silent St, Looking Glass, Hi-Fi, Drunk On Youth, Afloat, Rain Day, Something Wild, Ellipsis, Blackout and 2am Kiss. I will update with individual descriptions when I can.

The collection is available in a preview set (the official launch for the fragrances is next spring) at Sephora, with 10 x 1/4 oz Eau de Parfum for $95.

(via sephora)

Update ~ more information, from Sephora, where the fragrances are now available in 50 and 175 ml bottles ( $95 / $175).

Derek Lam 10 Crosby Rain Day

Rain Day (shown) ~ "A rain day on Crosby Street. The confidence to find something beautiful and meaningful during a downpour. An enchanting balance of tropical vetiver Haiti and citrusy neroli Tunisia creates a surprisingly fresh scent."

Silent St ~ "Crosby Street at First Snow. A moment of total peace and purity in the middle of the chaos of New York City. The essence of pure white musks."

Something Wild ~ "Every day on Crosby Street any moment can become a surprising adventure. An unexpectedly addictive blend of cedarwood and vanilla bean Madagascar with a smooth, dark finish."

Looking Glass ~ "Dusk on Crosby Street. Celebrating the idea of dancing through life with wild abandon. A spontaneous blend of Chinese magnolia and tonka bean Madagascar imparts a warm layer over a delicate floral note."

Hi-Fi ~ "A Saturday afternoon, Crosby Street. New York City. Living life in High Fidelity. Notes of pink peony flirt with stylish French narcisse to create an unexpected velvety experience."

Ellipsis ~ "Evening on Crosby Street. Their eyes meet. What could happen in the ellipsis between… An anything-is-possible blend of warm sandalwood and jasmine that results in something entirely modern and feminine."

Drunk On Youth ~ "It happened on Crosby Street. A Connection in time, love, lust and youth. Natural notes of honeysuckle mingle with bright, crisp apple for a sophisticated effect."

Blackout ~ "A blackout on Crosby Street. Downtown has gone dark. Tonight, all bets are off. A deeply romantic pairing. Complex Osmanthus and Chai Tea Essence…the sweetness of the flower with the passion and danger of the spicy chai tea."

Afloat ~ "An escape to a rooftop. Crosby Street overlooking New York City. The shared mischief of being up there. Modern white mimosa evokes the feeling of sunshine on a hint of darker orris."

2am Kiss ~ "Crosby Street, late night. Empty street. A beautiful, passionate, all-encompassing kiss. Salty caramel wrapped in a rich crystalized amber—irresistible and slightly intoxicating and absolutely addictive."

I really like the fragrance names he picked.

However, the bottles look like magic markers. :)

I have read very little about this set, but assume when it officially launches in the spring there will be larger sizes? But no idea. They certainly did a range of sizes / formats for Elizabeth & James.

I think it’s just the way they appear in the photograph. All the different colors lined up like a box of
          Sharpie highlighters.

I see it but I think Mr. Sketch Scented Markers would be a more apt comparison. Now I’m wondering if Mr. Sketch has ever done perfumes.

I’d Like Derek to do a proper Scent (Eponymous or Not) for his main line. He’s such a Brilliant Designer and needs a fragrance on the Market. But something of Quality and that will last!
