Scented advent calendars 2015, part 1

Posted by Robin on 19 October 2015 14 Comments

We won't start our "official" series of holiday gift posts until Black Friday, but since advent calendars tend to sell out quickly, we're posting those early this year. (Please note that many of these calendars are not available in the US. Clearly they like Advent calendars in the UK more than in the US).

Lush 12 Days of Christmas 2015

From Lush, the 12 Days of Christmas: "Draw the curtains and build up the fire, allowing a wintry tale to unfold. Between these pages, an Avobath offers uplifting clarity of thought, a creamy Butterbear waits to offer softening cuddles and Cinders warms herself by a crackling cinnamon leaf fire. Snow Angel melts on high, revealing fruity cassie and gorgeous rose absolute. Santa dashes through the snow, whereas Holly Golightly likes to Celebrate with a warming dose of Yog Nog. Don't confine these festive characters to your page, bring them to life for 12 magical days." £50 at Lush UK. (Last year this did launch in the US.)

Jo Malone 2015 Advent

From Jo Malone, the 2015 (looks the same as the 2014, but presumably has different products) Advent Calendar:  "Each morning, open the doors of our Advent Calendar to reveal a spoiling surprise. Illustrated with the façade of the home of Jo Malone London, our Georgian townhouse, the calendar is filled with little luxuries: refined Colognes and rich and nourishing Body Crèmes, perfect for layering to create your own seasonal scent. The countdown to Christmas has never been so indulgent." £260, listed as "coming soon" on Jo Malone's UK site.

tbs-advent-2015

From The Body Shop, the 2015 calendar, featuring a number of scented items: "Countdown to Christmas in skin-loving style with our 24 Happy Days beauty advent calendar. This indulgent treat features a beauty surprise behind every door, from bestselling bath and body care to sparkling fragrance, plus our latest additions. So celebrate the festive season each day, with 24 Christmas gifts especially for you!" £60 at The Body Shop UK. (There are 2 versions of this calendar. At least one of them will be in the US in late October, $105.)

Arran Aromatics Cherish Advent calendar

From Scotland's Arran Aromatics, the Cherish Advent calendar: "A must have for any fragrance fan! Cherish the moments of the 2015 holiday season with the limited edition, Arran Aromatics Cherish Advent Calendar. Filled with 24 luxurious treats from candles to shower gels and much more, this fabulously-festive advent calendar is the perfect way to share the joy of the season with those in need of a little pre-Christmas pampering!" £40 at Arran Aromatics.

Selfridges Cosmic Beauty Avent Calendar

From Selfridges, the Cosmic Beauty Avent Calendar, "Filled with 24 luxurious miniature treats, it's a must-have for all beauty fans. This Limited Edition calendar includes surprises from some of the world's best beauty brands including Kiehl's, Lancôme, YSL, Viktor & Rolf and more." £95 at Selfridges.

So much fun! I wish there were more items like the Arran calendar available in the US. I love many Lush products, but am somehow not as psyched about the advent calendar… the shipping to the US for the AA calendar is $35… not surprising, but none-the-less daunting.

I wish there were too. Not sure why the Advent calendar thing is not so big here.

It is weird. I just did an internet search and there really are so many more options in the UK.

The obvious contender for a scent advent calendar is Demeter… the fragrances are inexpensive enough to make the overall package not a purse-breaker….If, for example, Whole Foods sold it, I would think that the cost/benefit ratio would work for them.

PS I am going to send them an email to tell them! (I’ll let you know if I get anything other than a low-level, polite, response….)

And they already make the little minis…a few minis, a few samples…they have so many scents they could do several themed calendars.

Oh, and Pacifica! They should have one too. As long as you’re writing letters :-)

Honestly, if either comes up with one and doesn’t give it to you, I will.

The Body Shop is coming out with one as well, and the one from L’Occitane is getting a lot of buzz on the UK beauty blogs.

The Body Shop one is shown above! The L’Occitane one will be in Part 2, since I’m trying to figure out when it will be in the US.

I’ll have to my eyes peeled for the Arran Aromatics one, living as I do in Scotland – always been impressed with the quality & value for money of their products, & their new slightly higher end fragrance collections has some wonderful smells! I’ve taken body products as gifts to friends in the US as it’s something different, & they’ve always been pleased – & they’ve been even more pleased with scented candles with gorse, heather or something else typically Scottish.

I think the Body shop ones are the only ones available where I live.
But I lust after the Jo Malone one, just as I did last year.
