Happy H2O Friday! Our community project for today: wear a fragrance with a marine / aquatic / water note, or wear a fragrance that reminds you of the sea (or some other body of water) in some other way.
As always, do chime in with your scent of the day even if you’re not participating in the community project.
My pick for today: Épice Marine from Hermès.
Extra reminder: splitmeet coming up tomorrow!
Reminder: next Friday will be 3 Hour Tour Friday: you're going on a short afternoon cruise but who knows, you just MIGHT get stranded on a desert island. You can take up to 3 perfumes from one brand OR one perfumer. Choose your 3, wear one of them. (From a suggestion by Nozknoz)
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2015, where I'll try to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.

Heeley’s Sel Marin.
Since you mentioned it, I don’t have anything that reminds me of water, the sea, or remotely aquatic. So…. sample hording mission it is! First impression: habour breeze and lot of Atlantic kelps!
I love it. Probably the only marine scent that works for me.
I’m joining you today in sampling Sel Marin as well. Sea salt and seaweed, mmmm, I like it very much, layered over Caswell-Massey Sea Grass lotion.
I dislike aquatic or watery fragrances but love those that remind me of the “sea” (somehow I differentiate this). Hermes Eau des Merveilles (my favorite but I wear this all the time) and Dior Dune remind me of the Atlantic Ocean and Brosseau’s Ombre Bleu of the Mediterranean.
I found my sample of this, too. I love the salt residue aspect, but might be curious about this one as a layer-er, if only it were cheaper…
I am wearing Greenwich from Roxana Illuminated Perfume. It reminds me of the sea, specifically Sheepshead Bay, Brooklyn approx 42 yrs ago as my grandfather and I would walk along the pier and he’d visit the fishing boats to see what was being caught. Sea, fish and green trees in late spring is what this perfume contains for me
Nice!
Greenwitch has been on my “to try” list for ages. I really need to place a sample order but I can’t ever make up my mind which to try and there’s always one I really want that is unavailable. You’ve inspired me to check out her shop again.
What a lovely association!
I’m also in Epice Marine, but that might also be because it’s my current favorite Hermessence. It really is glorious while it lasts.
Me three for wearing it!
We are family! (except guiltily admit it is nowhere near my favorite)
Me four!
I am wearing CB:IHP Mr. Hulot’s Holiday. I unearthed he sample while looking for a scent for today’s theme. Unfortunately I am also using a new deodorant that is pretty strongly scented so all I can smell is lemongrass and thyme.
I don’t know about the scent, but I adore the movie!
Me too! Have you seen Mr. Bean’s Holiday, which shamelessly borrows… but is still a lot of fun?
I love all of the Jacques Tati movies. There was a retrospective here in Miami some years back and I fell in love with them again upon rewatching.
Love Mr. Hulot’s Holiday!
I was searching for Andree Putman Preparation Parfumee initially, but my decant has dried up and I think it is discontinued.
Un Jardin Apres la Mousson. Was very excited to realise that most of these jardin series fit the bill 🙂
That’s my favorite of the series! Very wet smelling, indeed. Love the spiced watermelon.
I’m so bummed that I haven’t managed to find Un Jardin Apres la Mousson anywhere. It sounds so interesting!
Unsurprisingly, given that I generally wear it a few times a week, I’m in Eau de Merveilles. Happy Friday, all!
Scent twins!
Triplets! I love having an excuse to wear Eau de Merveilles. Not that I need one, I also wear it a few times each week.
Hooray! I figured that this would be a popular choice today.
Hanging out with sibling Ambre de Merveilles instead.
I’m wearing the sadly discontinued AG Vétiver. A wonderful, slightly bitter rendition of the note, with a definite nod to the see. I hope everyone has a great weekend.
I mean “sea” of course. I think I need a lie down.
A lie down sounds very tempting here too 🙂
The original AG Vetiver is gorgeous. I regret I didn’t buy a bottle when I had the chance. The new version edc is very lovely, but it only lasts for about 5 minutes – a true edc! – so it’s just not worth the price. (I also wish I’d bought the original Eau de Monsieur, which is totally unique and gorgeous!)
Yep, that is one brilliant scent.
I’d say it’s my fav vetiver, but there is a lot of competition from the Turtle Vetivers.
I like those too. It’s obvious that they were created by the same nose.
Good point – it’s no accident they are great.
CSP Aqua Motu, which makes me think of a briny, rocky, seaweedy Atlantic beach.
Yum. That’s what I’d be wearing if I could. To me, it smells like San Diego.
First I tried Demeter Fragrance Frozen Pond but really disliked it. So about five minutes ago I tried another sample – 22 Settembre 2007 ore 8 Vaporetto per il Lido Venezia.
Oh, too bad! I have not tried that one.
Decided I *really* did not want to go searching for my sample of Matin d’Orage, the only vaguely oceanic/watery thing I think I own. And the weather has finally turned beautifully cool here, so I think I might get out my Black Cashmere decant instead. Or Organza Indecence, whichever one I come across first…
I had planned on wearing Alien Acqua Chic or Demeter Salt Air. Woke up to a cool rainy morning, so Gucci Rush it is.
My SOTD is Jo Malone’s Sea Salt and Wood Sage. I had this sample to use. Not my favorite JM, but it goes with the theme! 🙂
I’m wearing Lostmarch Iroaz. I remembered that I had Costamor Beachwood as a sample, but I must have liked it because the sample was basically empty, so Iroaz it is. I could have chosen one of the big aquatics from the 90s, but I just couldn’t bring myself to do it.
I’m in Amouage Reflection Woman. It’s watery smelling and probably my least favorite Amouage. It will be warm today though so it’ll smell somewhat cooling.
I would have joined the masses in Eau des Merveilles, but I drained my sample long ago and haven’t replenished my supply (and I suppose that probably means something). So instead I’m joining scentfromabove in Jo Malone Wood Sage and Sea Salt. It always reminds me of a long-ago trip to the Cape Cod area. It’s funny to me that the Pacific and Atlantic coasts have such different characters and ambience when they actually border oceans that are connected to each other.
Van Cleef and Arpels’ Bois d’Iris today. I read that it was inspired by driftwood, and I can absolutely see that. So often “aquatic” perfumes don’t smell particularly sea-like to me, but something about this one suggest salt-water soaked wood to me (though of course that could just be the power of suggestion.)
I hope you’re all happy and well, and wish you each wonderful weekends.
I finally got my FB of Bois d’Iris!
And there was much rejoicing!
Oh, wonderful! Does having the ability to spray liberally change how you perceive this in its developement? I love this but I have only dabbed it so far.
I have only sprayed this as I do almost 99% of my perfumes, including extraits.
Bois d’Iris is indeed gorgeous. I think I have a drop or two left of a sample, and may switch to that later on (now that you’ve given me an excuse to …). 🙂
Hope you got to enjoy it! Glad I gave you an excuse.
I love that driftwood note and the only reason I don’t own this one is that it’s very faint on me. But I might get it anyway, at some point – I did buy La Pausa, after all.
Perhaps there is a note in there that you’re anosmic to?? On me this lasts forever, and I can smell it on my clothes days later!! It’s one I have to be careful only to apply to skin, because if it gets on my hair I can smell it two days later, even after showering…
This is entirely possible, I’m definitely anosmic to some musks. Could hardly smell Musc Kublai Khan.
You can’t go wrong with that one. I wore it earlier this week and remembered how I loved it. 🙂
I love your avatar! I’m visiting Chicago and planning to go see it in the next few days. 🙂
Wore Dune to bed last night, the lavender in it helps me sleep. But this morning I had had enough of sand and sun, so I doused my self in Mitsouko and am running errands in the rain. My light boxes for my inside lettuce garden are almost done. I live working on projects!
That sounds like an especially wonderful project! And you smell great. 🙂
I wore Mitsouko to bed last night and it was still with me this morning 🙂 You smell fab!
Mitsouko + rain = A++++++
Couldn’t have said it better myself!
You all are such lovely people! I count myself exceedingly fortunate to have found this little community!
Since water/aquatic is my least favorite category, my choice is a bit of a stretch. TDC Rose Poivree as it reminds me of the spiced watermelony aspect of Apres la Mousson(both by JCE) so it smells like a very wet, almost water-color rose. I tried.
I’m enjoying reading the water ideas! I will be wearing Eau de Chlorine a little later, so for now it’s just Atlas Cedar EO, diluted in alcohol. It has a diffusive quality I hadn’t noticed before.
Okay. Now I am laughing very hard. So, first I was like, “wow there is a scent called Eau de Chlorine…” and then I thought about it and wondered what it might smell like… and then… da da da da…. I got the joke. Oh dear. I make no excuses. Hope this is not a sign of early onset of anything!
Thanks for the morning belly-laugh at my own stupidity!!
I had the exact same train of thoughts!
🙂 🙂
I went with AbdesSalaam Attar ambergris tincture, but it’s so close to the skin that I can only detect it sometimes when I press my nose directly to my arm. So, just a hint of sea today.
I went with the most literally marine thing I have: Marine Sel by Tokyo Milk. It’s pretty beachy. Like what you’d smell like if you were wearing kind of perfumey suntan lotion while swimming in the ocean. The first time I tried it, I was in a shop in Galveston, and I went down to the beach after I left that shop. The perfume blended in well enough with the beach smell around me that at first I thought it might just be really weak or short-lived. I realized as I was driving home that that wasn’t the case.
Have you tried Tokyo Milk’s Tomorrow? I haven’t worn it in a while, but it’s kind of a cold beach scent.
I don’t think I have. Is that one of the ones in the black rollerball? I’m pretty sure I’ve seen them. I’ll have to remember to give it a sniff next time I come across it.
And I went with Tokyo Milk’s Sea and Sky. It’s one of those “just walked out of the ocean and can smell the saltwater on your skin” kind of scents. I generally don’t like aquatics, but I do like “beachy” (maybe I really mean “salty”) scents.
Debated between Matin d’Orage (great idea, Mals!) and Tommy Girl. Went for Tommy Girl in the end since I don’t wear it as much, and this will help me get through my sample. I know online it gets a lot of attention as a fruity floral/tea/citrus, but this goes straight to shampoo and aquatic notes on me.
Looking forward to it wearing off so I can spritz (and finish?) my emergency sample of Orange Verte in my desk drawer.
Oh, hey, I like Tommy Girl. It’s not aquatic on me, though – I’d probably like it a lot less if it was. I get lemon tea in the garden with that, luckily.
I always associate a blond beachy type person with Tommy Girl.
Stretching the bounds of this project… wearing Acqua di Parma Blu Mediterraneo Fico di Amalfi. ‘Blu Mediterraneo’… plus ‘Acqua’…. it’s an aquatic name, no? Even if it’s not at all an aquatic scent ;^) After a few days of fall-like weather we’re back to warm temps here again, and Fico di Amalfi is one of my favorite summer scents.
I’m wearing the very, very last dregs of my Sel de Vetiver. Well, technically, the bottle was a gift to J and that’s why it’s empty – he has only a few scents in rotation at once and he likes to spray liberally.
The real news, however, is that I was in Paris yesterday: my boss gave me a day off when she heard that J is going, so I had about 5 hours’ notice – but what a nice thing to do!. And I was so giddy with this unexpected good fortune that I bought No 22 in extrait and a Louboutin lipstick.
What a lovely thing for your boss to do! Glad you had fun.
Wasn’t it? There is a tough month ahead, so it was my last chance to relax. And I’m still in awe of the fact that it takes 80 minutes to get to Paris from here…
I’m envious! I love New Zealand, but we are so far away from the rest of the world.
I feel you. I spent the first 11 years of my life in the Soviet Union, so I know how it feels to be cut off…
Does the lipstick live up to its reputation and price? I must know.
Is it a lovely, very high quality lipstick? Yes. Is it three times better than Chanel Rouge Coco Shine? No.
Thank you for the excellent evaluation! I am happy to stick with Chanel as the lipstick I Wilbur after I use up all the lipsticks I have now!
No 22 extrait! I’ve only tried the edt. How does the extrait compare?
It’s better :)! But more seriously, I haven’t really warn it properly yet, it was a very spontaneous decision. I’ll report back when I’m wiser.
That was very nice of your boss! Glad you got the time off. Congrats on the bottle of No 22. That is a really nice one 🙂
I have always struggled with No 22, hence the extrait concentration. For some reason, I’m determined to make it work on me,
Oh Anniky, how fun! I’m glad you got to go.
We’re scent twins today; I found a sample in my travel decant bag (I’m visiting Chicago this weekend), and was happy to find it. I love vetiver, and i think this will be a new favorite for me.
Hi, twin! I think Sel de Vetiver is wonderful, I especially like it for rainy autumn days – glad to hear you’re liking it, too.
I completely spaced on the aquatics, but don’t say I neva done nothin’ for ya! I took one for the NST team this AM, and am comparing TF’s Champaca to Ormonde Jayne’s Champaca.
Ormonde Jayne’s: I smell magnolia, but the whole tree, on a cool morning before the heat makes the flower scent run riot. There are hints of citrus and neroli, faint apricot, green tea and something chewy, … maybe that is the rice accord? It is a sheer scent (but not a skin scent—you can smell this baby without having to press your arm to your nose at every traffic stop), and I can see it working with a St. John skirt suit, just as well as with a streamline contemporary aesthetic. I find it completely unisex (despite my St. John reference!) and it can definitely be worn in all weathers. An hour in, the fruit is all but gone. The fragrant flowers are playing nicely with a very light incense and wood scent… the most dominant of the flowers at this point, to my nose, is neroli.
Tom Ford’s: This a va va voom scent!. Round, lush and sweet… This is more like the idea of fat buttery magnolia petals than the actual smell of champaca magnolia. I also get stone fruit, but boozy, liqueur-soaked fruit, and black tea. If mirror velvet (in silk, of course!) had a scent, this would be it. A heavy, soft, winter wrap that comforts by its presence (unlike a cashmere wrap which is remarkable for how light it weighs, and how easy it is to forget you are wearing it—you won’t forget you are wearing TF’s Champaca). An hour in, I still smell plenty of yellow and white flowers and boozy fruit, with the hint of something fizzy underneath—almost soapy (but in a good way).
Oh, the sacrifices I make…
Sainthood granted. I forgot to add the TF Champaca to my list of TF likes yesterday! I compared it to CDG Champaca and the TF came out on top because of, well, what you said…
Thanks for that. The TF sounds really nice!
Our MVPerfumista! What’s mirror velvet? Sounds very smooth.
Very smooth… a modern name, I think, for an old style of velvet…one of the best.
I’m taking one for the team and wearing Acqua di Gio for women. Not actually such a hardship for me, I admit that I still find it wearable every once in a while. The odd, watery synthetic florals cut the ozonic note. Plus, it makes me think of a fishing trip, circa 1998, with a very cute boy 😉
It is certainly still very fresh and girly so I may have to toughen it up a tad with some creative layering…Rien perhaps? I’m spending the day mostly alone so if it’s a massive failure I’m the only one who will suffer.
Let me know how well Rien would play with others (it might be a bit bossy).
You know, it didn’t turn out badly at all. At first I thought AdG would take the win with a strappy white stiletto to the head, but Rien had that fabulous leather armor so they eventually both settled down and called a truce.
I’m getting whiffs of watery florals and leather that are actually fairly cohesive. I’ve certainly performed much more disastrous layering experiments before, something about this combination works. I have smelled much worse from top-selling bottles at the mall.
I actually still like that one, not that I run across it much
I could have spritzed on MH Fleurs de Sel… but instead I put on Calypso Marine, a real true aquatic! Back when aquatics were more the thing, I never had any trouble with them and even today they do not make me run and hide.
You know, I think a real aquatic is more acceptable than all those mish mash perfumes that just mindlessly throw in an aquatic note because it’s cheap.
I was really struggling with this one and had decided last night to wear Lalique Encre Noir, because the fragrance has a very green velvety watery quality. But it’s going to be too hot and summery here today. So I looked and looked…finally!!! I do have something watery that I actually like that according to some notes lists has an “ozone” accord: the original Balenciaga Paris from 2010. Ta-DA!! I am so proud of myself – is that strange? I knew I had to have something. I really do like this even though I’ve never felt the urge to go beyond the large decant I have. I don’t wear it nearly enough even though it’s very pretty.
This made me laugh. It’s really funny how some challenges really are challenges for us. Bravo!
The only other challenge I was challenged over was the incense one. I’m happy that I prevailed with this one!
oh, have BP too, but think I’ll haul out Eau d’Hadrien, to see if it’s still in good shape (old bottle). AnnS, your recent comments about Beloved are making me think I should get a sample. Have not found an Amouage that agrees with me to date, but that one sounds doable.
The only other Amouage that I’ve smelled that I like is Memoir Woman. I liked Lyric more in theory than practice. It’s not a line that I aggressively pursue b/c mostly they don’t fit me. I’ll concede that Dia is gorgeous, but I find it hard to wear. Ditto on Gold for men. Beloved is by far my fav – I don’t feel like it’s wearing me.
I think Gold and Beloved are the most wearable and the least in your face of the Amouages. Ciel isn’t either but I think it’s not as good. One of the Opus fragrances is quite tame as well. I forget which number it is, it’s the one with a strong mimosa note.
I’m not a huge fan of aquatic scents either, so I’m wearing Lys Mediterranee for sea air accord. I love lily and have a bunch of other lily scents, but this one is still my favorite.
Oh, that’s a nice one. I like that lilies-by-the-sea feeling.
Yo ho ho … and a bottle of rum
I decided to wear something boozy to remimd me of a watering hole. I chose My Inner Island Vaniglia Sopraffina e Rhum which has multiple associations with “water”: rum, island and I bought the bottle in Boston last year prior to a cruise!
Ooooh! What a nice take on the theme! Wish I’d thought of that.
Very clever
Applause!
Not much for marine fragrances, so ended up in Blackbird – just because I am willing the cool(er) weather to come by wearing cool(er) weather fragrances. Don’t think it is working as it looks like next couple of days would be in high 80’s/90’s. Urgh
Is that the Blackbird by Olympic Orchids or House of Matriarch?
House of Matriarch. Def in my top 10 list
OUPS!
I was so ready for this one.
Last night I pulled out my favorite marine / aquatic, Bergamotto Marino so that I could be part of the project today, but this morning, before the coffee could do it’s think, I reached for Calandre instead.
Oh well! I’ll be part of it another week. For now I’ll just be by myself and enjoy Calandre.
Of course, BM is not an aquatique per se, but it does remind me of a luxury vacation in Monte Carlo.
🙂
Went with Dune today. I do seem to have a lot that have a salty/watery aspect like this one, Eau des Merveilles, Jadin en Med, Fleur de Sel though nothing in the calone/marine camp. I’ll admit to loving them back in the 90’s though!
Great choice!!!
I’m wearing Etat Libre d’Orange Tilda Swinton Like This. It’s cooler and drier here, and I was in the mood for this one.
I really do not have any H20 scents to choose from.
I love all the creativity going on with this today! ‘m in L’essence de Mastenbroek Eau de Polder, though wish I still had my sample of Dune. It would have been perfect today!
Is that the scent that is sold as an oil? I saw it in the Gemeentemuseum in Den Haag, and tried it. I found it intriguing.
http://essencemastenbroek.nl/nederlands/
Yes, it is noticeably more viscous than alcohol based perfumes when applied! I just have a sample, but have enjoyed it.
Since the weather today is more late summer than early fall, I’m going with Acqua Missoni for Women, which is to me an aquatic, beachy fragrance done right.
Had it been cooler, I’d was thinking of Miller Harris Fleurs de Sel or La Pluie – non aquatic water scents – or Puredistance I, a warm floral with an aquatic note that somehow works. I’m also very fond of Guerlain Idylle Eau Sublime, a dewy rose.
Fleurs de Sel is so lovely. I have a small sample of this that I horde.
I´m on Jo Malone Wood Sage and Sea Salt team. Not my cup of tea, really, as I find it quite uninteresting for the twenty minutes it lasts. My husband says it smells like peach Lipton ice tea. I wish I could get that, but this is no Flower of Immortality. Can´t get any salt either. Meh, this is so tame. Can´t wait to follow Elisa´s cue and spray some Eau de Shalimar as soon as I get home.
My husband also liked WS&SS much better than I did …
It’s off-season but nevertheless my plan (after I shower!) is to put on En Passant–I do find it mildly aquatic, plus I could use something calming for a doctor’s appointment. (Shouldn’t be a big deal, I’m just a weenie.)
The doctor’s appointment will be soon over and you’ll enjoy your En Passant even more afterwards!
(I still haven’t learned to really, really like En Passant, but am curious to experiment with it some more).
Thank you Morgana–very reassuring advice and true on both counts! Much appreciated.
As for En Passant, I do think weather is key–it’s a bit flimsy in the cold, and can melt away in the heat–but on the right spring day, I think it’s just lovely!
Glad to hear your appointment went well, and thanks for explaining this! Right now our temperatures are way too high, but it should not be too difficult to implement as we get quite a bit of nice spring days here.
Have a good weekend!
I am wearing Luten’s L’Eau, a soft mint and magnolia scent.
Currently visiting Glasgow & wearing Penhaligon’s Bluebell; was in Edinburgh yesterday & went to the shop, so picked up a sample of Blasted Heath for my husband, & also one of Ostara for my friend who’s on the short trip with me.
I am with your friend — Ostara is nice!
Wearing Amnesia by XRay.
The combination of light flowers and sea water is fun — brings to mind a picture of a peaceful child on the beach? It also has that synthetic feel that I enjoy (CdG style).
This was a blind buy and a stupid thing to do since I couldn’t wear either Epice Marine or Copal Azur, but I read a great review and the discount was deep … so glad I went for it as it made my summer of 2015 (mostly indoors) so much nicer!
Would love to hear if anybody else has tried it!
Prada Infusion d’Iris. Was in rush to get out door 🙁 but no regrets, cause i need the calm of my prada friend. (Long week)
TGIF!
i don’t care for aquatic scents at all, Eau de Merveilles being the exception that proves the rule, so I am wearing Tiziana Terenzi White Fire, which the blurb says is supposed to smell like fire on snow. It does not, of course, but still it’s an oddly compelling scent. There is a coolness and a wateryness that does somehow evoke a sense of snow, but the fire seems lacking to me.
I was going to be clever and wear L’Ombre dans l’Eau (shadows in the water!) but didn’t feel like it after wearing roses all week. I’m in Bulgari Black.
In retrospect L de LL would have worked too, given its nautical bottle and vague ambergris-like note.
L also seems beachy b/c of that salty accord, so I think that would count too.
It’s Saturday morning here, and I’ve woken luxuriously late–after 7.30, in fact– and have enjoyed reading all your choices so much that I think I’ll continue the project today, despite having been uncharacteristically indecisive yesterday. There’s pleasure in dithering over a perfume choice when I’m in bed with a cup of very hot tea, a blissful purr on my lap, a husband helpfully (????) reading me snippets of news from his iPad and nothing to do all day except finish some writing and attend a family party. And my choice is Bois d’Iris…no, wait, Jardin sur Le Nil…oh, maybe Apres l’Ondee. See? I’m completely hopeless, but it’s Saturday, so I don’t care!
You can’t go wrong. 🙂
Sounds like a lovely morning! Sometimes on the weekends I’ll put on some fragrance that doesn’t last too long, just enough for breakfast, with the expectation that I’ll wear something else after I shower.
Now, that’s a plan I should adopt. I’ve been wondering how to fit more perfumes into my days. Because of my habit of buying bottles rather than samples, I have enough perfume to be in embalmed in, even if I live another twenty-odd years.
Speaking of bottle acquisitions, my friends arrived back from the States yesterday with a bottle of Wit for me! They’re still grappling with their jet-lag, but as soon as ever may be, this lovely will be in my hands and on my wrists! I fully expect to love it, but even if I don’t, I shall arrange my features into an expression of deep appreciation, because I suspect they went to small amount of trouble to get it for me. They biked to Sausalito, but there Delrae wasn’t, and after various enquiries round and about, ended up following directions from helpful locals to a shop called Gumbley? Godley? G-something, anyway. They described it as “posh”, whatever that means. And thus, through friendship and perseverance, Wit came to Waterdragon! Can’t wait.
What good friends to show such dedication!
I know! I don’t deserve it, but I’m so glad they did!
Lucky you to have such nice friends!
Wit is probably the prettiest perfume I’ve ever smelled. I didn’t expect it to be so wearable and interesting, but for me it is. Still, I wouldn’t try it if you’re in a badass leather mood 😉
Noted: if mood says leather, no Wit. Hmmm. I’m in a badass mood moderately often, but that probably means Wit will last longer!
Well I have always found you witty even before you got that perfume…
Oh, you darling! Thank you!
I’m so glad they did bring you Wit. I need to find some friends in need of a bicycle ride and posh shopping.
I must be a fan of heftier perfumes – Un Matin d’Orage is the only thing I can think of with watery notes, and I’ve discovered I don’t have a FB of anything “Eau”!
I probably have plenty of samples that fit the bill but I’ve got a hair appointment this morning and want to wear something substantial. I don’t want to suffocate my hair stylist, but I want to be able to detect my perfume through the smell of bleach – I’m going back to blonde as we head into *should be* warmer weather.
Sprayed Missoni Acqua (the only acquatic scent I have even a sample of); washed off immediately; replaced with Eau d’Hiver on the principle that “eau” means “water”. That’s better!
I’m in Terracotta, which reminds me of walking down the boardwalk in a beautiful black bikini, tanned, and enjoying an ice cream cone!
Dancerwendy, I’m in awe of your memory of walking around and about in a beautiful black bikini! I can’t even remember when I last owned a bikini, let alone wore one in public! Go for gold, girl!
I was lucky enough to do exactly this yesterday. Life is short, wear the bikini, eat the ice cream (I had two!), and wear your favourite perfume! 😉
I’m with waterdragon, in awe of your lovely Terracotta on the boardwalk scene. I almost wore Terracotta today, but Eau des Merveilles was calling to me with it’s salty, sparkly deliciousness.
That’s a great choice! Would absolutely be as yummy as Terracotta for a beach day. Goesgreat with an ice cream cone!
I did spring on that bottle of Sarrasins and totally forgot today’s scent was going to be aquatics. I went to lunch with a friend wearing Nasomatto Nuda. That was kind of a mistake because the tuberose was suffocating. Now since that’s worn off, I am wearing Chanel no 5 and doing laundry.
“Water” kept making me think of lakes, where I spent many summers. But from there I kept thinking of fir trees beside lakes, and how clean the air smelled. (Being in tree-dense NC no doubt reminded me – I’m really enjoying it here.) So I ended up layering Juniper Ridge Sierra Granite with Profumi del Forte By Night White. Lakeside on steroids.
Off-theme as usual: SOTD is Herve Domar’s Diamant Noir – delicious incensey amber.
I never got on board with the aquatics trend of the 90s, but I do remember liking Mariel by H20+…
Went with Jul et Mad Aqua Sextus which really is a nice little fragrance. U fortunately, I think that is the best I can say about it.
