Up for grabs: Alaia Paris

Posted by Robin on 13 August 2015 74 Comments — Comments are closed

Alaïa Paris

What is it: a 100 ml bottle of Alaïa Paris by Azzedine Alaïa, used lightly for testing.

How do I get it: For a chance to win, leave a comment on the website telling me that you live in the US. Then tell me either a) your favorite designer fragrance of 2015 so far, or b) your favorite designer fragrance of all time, or c) something else you've been dying to post in a comment.

Be sure to use the “Post a comment” box; do not reply to another comment! All replies to comments will be deleted!

The contest will be open until noon or so next Thursday, and I'll announce the winner next Friday.

The fine print: Don't enter the contest unless I have permission to use the email address in your reader account to contact you. If the email address in your reader account is incorrect, you might want to fix it. If you are the winner and you fail to send me your mailing details within a couple weeks, I’ll give your prize away to someone else. Sadly, it sometimes usually takes me a month to mail a package. Reasonable care will be taken in the packaging and mailing of your prize, but if the contents are lost or damaged or fail to please you for any reason whatsoever, I’m sorry but I cannot replace them.

Hi! My favorite all time designer fragrance is Gucci Envy (wish they still made it). This year, I blind bought Chanel 28 La Pausa thinking I would love it, and I do! The last power is awful though. And I guess Les Exclusifs really are not "designer" perfume, but whatevs!

My favorite designer fragrance of all time is probably Donna Karan’s Black Cashmere although one can’t ignore Bois des Iles or Safari. I’m in the US

Hi! I live in the US. My favorite designer fragrance is Bottega Veneta, which also happens to be an example of those rare instances when the designer’s fashion recognizably informs the scent.

Hi Robin. Thanks for the contest. I live in the US and that is a tough question. I love Marni, the original Bottega Veneta and of course, Natori. I would count Kingdom but it is so hard to find… Good luck, everyone. :)

On El by Jesus Del Pozo captures the best floral and fruity masculine and feminine notes that make kicking the door of my home in the United States invigorating every morning. Off to tackle the day confident and maybe a bit sexy.

Hi Robin! I live in Beaverton, Oregon!

    1) My favorite designer scent is Cuir de Lancome! This past winter, I found myself reaching for it again and again. The is a tip of the hat to Cuir de Russie, but there is a persistent warmth and creaminess that de Russie does not have. Beautiful.

    2) I am starting the whole house buying process and i am scared to death.

I live in Washington! I can’t decide whether to buy the Guerlain “ma robe petales” or not — I love it when I smell it (and I know it’s not that popular, haha) but then I wonder if there’s something more almondy/pistachoey out there!

  23. Sapphire says:
    13 August 2015 at 2:37 pm

I’m in Bentonville, Arkansas. The only really new designer fragrance I’ve had a chance to try this year was Gucci Bamboo, which was pleasant enough opening up and dried down to a fairly nice, soft lily. Would wear it if I got it as a gift, but don’t know if I’d buy it. Tom Ford Fleur de Portofino was also nice. Haven’t had a chance to smell his Noir Pour Femme. Our Sephora hasn’t got it yet. They just got the new Narciso Rodgriguez for Her L’absolu, which sounds intriguing. My favorite designer fragrance of all time is a tough question. I’m too fickle. Thanks for the drawing!

    Thanks for this opportunity!

I live in the U.S. As for 2015 designer fragrances, I must say I haven’t smelled much. One of the few I have is Tom Ford Noir Pour Femme, so it gets my vote. It’s smoking sweet woods. Nothing new or exciting, but still delicious. Thanks for the chance, and good luck everyone!

Hi Robin – I live in the U.S. The only 2015 designer release I’ve tried this year was Hermes’ Jardin de Monsieur Li, for which I had high hopes. I wanted JCE’s swan song for Hermes to be an instant classic, but it left me sadly disappointed.

I can happily agree with many of the suggestions here – Black Cashmere, Safari, Coromandel, Fendi, and Theorema all have pride of place on my dresser – but my all-time favorite designer fragrance – heck, my HG – would have to be Prada’s No. 9 Benjoin.

    Thanks for the opportunity!

Oooh, thanks for the chance to win this, I’ve been looking forward to trying it! I live in the US and my favorite designer fragrance of all time…wow, impossible to pick, but I’m gonna go with a classic that I’ve worn on and off since I was eighteen, the first designer scent I ever fell in love with: YSL Opium. (Yeah I love it and still wear the heck out of it in fall and winter, no apologies!)

  48. Bear says:
    13 August 2015 at 9:16 pm

    I live in the U.S.A.
My favourite designer scents ( can’t pick one ) would be Chanel Egoiste, Christian Dior Fahrenheit, and Fendi Theorema(W).

I live very close to the US boarder, and have a US postal address, but I do not live in the US. If that doesn’t qualify that’s okay! My favourite designer scent is Chanel Coromandel.

A long time ago, ahem, I used to obsessively read fashion magazines, and Azzedine Alaia was in every Vogue and Harper’s Bazaar issue. Lots of tight, body conscious dresses usually in black, white or red. I don’t follow fashion anymore, so I have no idea if it is a popular fashion house.

I live in the U.S…this is not a favorite of all time but I’d like to share my love for J.Lo’s original Glow perfume. It’s a no brainer throw on fragrance that surprisingly always get’s compliments. I don’t need to be complimented when I wear fragrance, but it’s just interesting that I can wear something complex and expensive and it will not evoke any reactions. I spritz on some Glow, and people are literally stopping me to ask what I’m wearing. Thanks for the giveaway Robin!
