Just curious if anyone has several “suntan lotion” scents? I have Fire Island, and wish I had been able to get my hands on Terracotta because I liked the marketing, basically. Do they smell enough different to you that you enjoy several facets of the sun lotion theme?
I really like Terracotta, and didn’t find it so close to BG that I wouldn’t use both. But I don’t own it.
I’ve never tried Fire Island but have sampled a few others. I samples Bobbie Brown Beach years ago thinking it would bring me summertime nostalgia, but it smelled like a synthetic version of Coppertone. I really enjoy Bronze Goddess, I don’t get a suntan lotion vibe but more like a tropical vacation, all creamy coconut and flowers. I sampled Terracotta this past summer and remember it feeling like an elegant jasmine-y summer scent – and didn’t remind me of suntan lotion at all. Now you really have me dreaming of summer!
I wore Bobbie Brown Beach but it didn’t survive reformulation very well. The newer version is a bit sharp.
I love Fire Island and Bronze Goddess, both nice and discreet enough for safe office wear. Another I think is ‘beachy’ would be the Nuxe brand. I have the oil and edt spray which are nice and light, not long-lasting though!
I don’t find Terracotta Voile d’Ete reminiscent of either suntan lotion or oil because it’s not really creamy so it’s not lotiony, and there’s no coconut in it, and to me, suntan oil has to have that smell of coconut oil. It does, however, smell extremely summery: carnations, ylang, and vanilla. Sunshine in a bottle.
CB I Hate Perfume’s At the Beach 1966 for a totally classic Coppertone smell or Smell Bent’s fun St. Tropez Dispenser.
I love 1966 at the Beach on my husband.
I have layered BG with plumeria floral water so that I’m not just beachy, I’m Hawaiian beachy…
I don’t remember this being sold in a ‘Body Splash’ formulation before – is this new? Or did I miss it last year?
You missed it — they had one last year.
Last year I really stocked up- I bought both the lotion in the tub and the spray oil to go with the vat 3.3 oz edt. This is a staple for me and I wear it often. I really kind of like that they tweak the bottle just a bit every year.
A great reminder for me to get some before they sell out for the season. I only have the shimmery oil, which I love, but would like to also get the fragrance and creme!
Azuree Soleil used to have mandarin, lemongrass and vetiver notes. They really simplified it!
I’ve been accused of being nitpicky but you really can tell the difference, and not in a good way.
Mandarin and vetiver are still listed in the notes on the EL website. Lemongrass could be gone, or could just be gone from the list, hard to say.
Does the scent change from year to year? ( I think the answer is no, but just checking)
It’s not supposed to, but would not be surprised if it’s been tweaked over the years.
