Chanel Misia ~ new fragrance

Posted by Robin on 30 January 2015 24 Comments

Chanel Misia

Chanel will launch Misia, the latest addition to the Les Exclusifs collection. The fragrance was named for Misia Sert, a friend of Coco Chanel, and is the first Chanel release from house perfumer Olivier Polge.

My intention for this fragrance wasn’t so much to recapture Misia herself, but her role as a turning point in the life of Gabrielle Chanel. Misia introduced Gabrielle to a number of new things. With this fragrance, I wanted to convey the atmosphere of the Ballets Russes [of which Misia was a patron] and the smell of makeup from that time. — Olivier Polge

The notes feature violet, Grasse and Turkish rose, orris, tonka bean and benzoin.

Chanel Misia will debut in March, and will be available in 75 and 200 ml Eau de Toilette.

Drool. (Mental note: save up, then save more for the very likely coming Extrait version) :D

Sounds very much worth trying — that’s as far as I’ll go! I like a decent cosmetic rose/violet, but there sure are plenty of them already.

I think this sounds like it will smell very nice, but then I was also thinking about Love Chloe which broke into this old time cosmetic smell. I wonder how they will compare.

I was thinking of L’Artisan Drole de Rose, which I have not worn in ages.

I hadn’t thought about DdR. I wear this a few times a year and it’s so pleasant. I hope that Chanel figures a twist on the whole sweet cosmetic flower style.

The idea of a Ballets Russes influence sounds interesting!

For some reason I’m dying to try this. It’s not like I’m a huge cosmetic rose/violet fan, but this sounds very pretty.

I like the idea of a female friend of the perfumer’s too. Romantic or platonic. Not enough perfumes commemorating women’s relationships, in my book.

Jaw Dropped to Ankles! YES, YES, YAAAASSSS, Olivier! Sounds Breathtaking! Must… Buy… Immediately! :-D Now… Next, Monsieur Polge the Younger… A NEW Chanel Fragrance for Women NOT in the Les Exclusifs Line or that is a Flanker. Although if you did reformulate Chanel No. 46 for the Les Exclusifs collection, not one soul would be angry! ;-)

I had a look at Fragrantica…there was a press release regarding the scent and its ingredients and

notes but no review as such. Looking forward to reading it when the perfume is released.

The notes looks really food, so I have a lot of hope for Misia. Still, I have never met a Chanel that I had to have. They are usually to cold and polite for me.

I just tried this in store today. It’s not loud at all. Like Anna said, it’s very polite. Reminded me of 1932.
