It's Monday again, sorry! What's your fragrance today?
I'm wearing Christian Dior Eau Sauvage.
Reminder: this Friday, 12/12, wear something from Christian Dior. On 12/19, we'll do De-stress Friday...as we approach the holidays, wear something that keeps you tranquil and relaxed.
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2014, where I'll try to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.
I’m wearing Coco — she’s just unbeatable on a cold day.
🙂
HI Robin, sorry to highjack this post but I wanted to be sure you saw my question – is your blog on some sort of delay? I can see that you put this up and people started posting yesterday at 1030 in the morning, but this post did not appear for me until some time after 2 in the morning today my time, (USA Eastern time – my close big city is Detroit) as I was up in the middle of the night, and I didn’t see this post here then. Basically it has showed up about 15 hours late. I have noticed this the last couple days, but sort of thought I was imagining it.
No, no delay, but could be some sort of caching issue. Whenever you’re not sure, use CTRL+F5 to force a fresh load of the page.
Ah, I will try this of it happens again. It might be my carrier too I guess. When I went back and looked closely there were little batches that came through all at once. Thanks for the quick response. You run a great blog here.
Possibly, but more likely it’s either your browser or my server…either way, the Ctrl+F5 should always get you a fresh page.
And thank you!
Tea for Two. I did a side by side comparison between my pre-discontinuation bottle and the newly resurrected one I bought from L’Artisan at the beginning of last month. I approached it very scientifically, i.e. 2 sprays of the old stuff on my right arm and 2 sprays of the new on my left. I couldn’t tell any difference. Go L’Artisan!
Excellent, good to know!
That’s great to hear!
Sotd is also a Dior: Eau Sauvage Fraicheur Cuir. Lovely citrus leather with a lightly sweet amber base. Still bummed they gave this one the ax but I’ve got a few bottles on hand so…..
Nice! I’ve tried very few of the ES flankers.
Etat Libre d’Orange’s Je Suis Un Homme is a pretty decent substitute if you run out of the real thing.
It seems like Monday arrived way too quickly. I’m wearing Byredo 1996.
Great choice…
SOTD is Theorema. I caved and bought a FB – but sooo worth it! Creamy orange spicy goodness 😀
Ha…another one bites the dust! Worth caving on though.
Me too, got a decant from a fellow poster here! It’s lovely, although perhaps a bit sweet? It reminds me a a Chergui/FdBois mashup…
Sounds absolutely delightful!
I am also in Dior. I am wearing a couple of spritzes of Diorella. Fantastic.
I hoped to wear that this week too, but at the moment, my entire stash of CD samples is MIA. I might be stuck with what few I have in full bottles.
I’m wearing a two little dabs of Bois des Iles parfum. I’m getting my eyelashes done later today and didn’t want to waft anything too big towards the esthetician.
I’m wearing SL’s Une Voix Noire today because I can dab it on and no one notices it at work.
I was in the mood for vanilla today and ended up going back to Bvlgari Black. Apparently, in just one wearing I got over my problem with the industrial/rubber note.
A friend and I both have a bottle, and she bewails the fact that it smells so much more industrial/rubbery on me at the beginning.
Wearing Bvlgari Black too.
BTW don’t know what’s going on with BB (and Bvlgari frags in general) but Marshalls is liquidating tons of bottles of it!
It is cold cold bitterly cold out and I am wrapped up in SL Rahät Loukoum, which on a day like this is a basically a space heater you can carry around on your skin.
I am scentless today. Yesterday i revisited my sample of Philosykos. I don’t know what’s changed since I first tried this back in September but man oh man is this stuff beautiful. I can’t stop thinking about it. I’m going to order some Pacifica Mediterranean Fig which should hopefully work as a cheap alternative. Has anybody tried both the liquid and solid forms? Which do you think is more similar to Philoykos?
I’ve tried the liquid and think it is very similar. Haven’t tried the solid.
Good to know. Thanks.
A friend was debating the two, but when she saw that the gift set of the latter was the same as I think the solid of the former, she got the set and was pretty happy with it.
The Pacifica prices are hard to beat. I’ve got the fig soap in my bathroom right now and it’s really nice. Thanks for the reply.
In worse case you could try the roll on… It’s cheaper than a bottle!
Worst*
I love LaP’s Premier Figuier – but I guess that’s just as costly, lol
Wearing Tauer’s Dark Passage, which is SUCH a good rummy, chocolatey patchouli.
Oh my, I haven’t worn mine in forever!
Inspired by film noir? I’ve been on a big film noir kick lately – I just watched Out Of The Past this weekend. I usually think of how I would imagine the femme fatales smelling – like lush tropical flowers on the edge of decay (gardenia, tuberose, jasmine). But, the men prob smell boozy and a little dirty … this makes me want to try this fragrance but it was only a limited edition, BOO!
Yes, it was a limited edition made to support Brian Pera’s film ONLY CHILD. Sad it’s gone and feel lucky to have some!
Annick Goutal Heure Exquise
Youth Dew Bath Oil.
Love. It.
Love the Dior image! Also, I laughed at the (sorry!). *sigh* It’s definitely a Monday.
Wearing Mitsouko edp today. Dang, it’s bitterly cold out!
PdN Maharadjah, gorgeous spicy lavender while trying to figure out my new laptop which isn’t an Apple. I’m getting really grumpy but I needed something that runs on Windows.
I am revisiting Burberry Brit for men, which neither me nor my DH have worn in ages IIRC. It is surprisingly nice, very lowkey but with a warm and spicy atmosphere.
I am wearing Chanel Coco Noir today, one of my new favorites.
I’ve got Vie de Château on today. I’m really loving parfums de nicolai, I just wish the lasted longer. But I suppose for the price, I can just keep spritzing. 🙂
I wanted almond today so went with Mazzolari Allesandro. It’s so yummy and I’ve decided a bottle is definitely near the top of my future purchase list.
Today I tried an unsniffed Smell Bent, Prairie Nymph. Very much a honey fragrance. It has just a citrus undertone, which Fragrantica describes as clementine. Pretty seasonal.
That’s my favorite Smell Bent – I wear it a lot in the summer. I love the carnation note. Even “without” the musk (I can’t smell the musk Smell Bent uses) I think it’s a fun, well balanced scent.
I did want to try this, but having only liked Bollywood or Bust and really, really not liking any of the other SB samples has made me cautious.
I like the carnation note but there is a yucky “unwashed body” smell that bothered me.
Today I’m in Phaedon Dzhari which is such an interesting scent combo. Cool enough weather to wear it but light enough that it should be ok for class
Actually, I hate when perfume isn’t quite right so I ended up spritzing on Soivohle A Rose For Beacon Free over it. Now I smell really good
Diptyque Eau Duelle EdP, and i smell good.
Now all I need is a big coffee and i can get this week started.
Mmm. I’m a fan. I’m tempted to buy a bottle but i haven’t tried many other vanillas, so I feel like I should try more before committing. As a new sahm, I can only afford a small collection of FBs!
I hear ya! There are just so many vanilla options out there. 🙂
For Keep-It-Simple Monday, I chose YR’s Fruits de Noel Orange & Amande Edt and matching b&b products. The orange is bright and sunny; the creaminess of the almond adds a gentle warmth. Perfect for a gloomy Monday with rain/sleet/snow in the forecast.
Very chilly here too, in the low 30s F with wind. Brr. I’m coping by listening to Christmas carols and cozying up with Donna Karan Black Cashmere. Making miniature cranberry wreaths to hang in the windows (so cute).
Black Cashmere plus carols and wreaths sounds perfect!
What a great way to spend Monday! Enjoy!
Another grey dreary day here and getting cooler as well. Perfect weather for Felanilla by Parfumerie Generale. I’m on my second decant (GASP!) of this stuff and am thinking a FB is in needed.
Did you hear that, Santa? 😉
Forgive me, Donatella, for I have been indulgent and bought a FB of Felanilla…on first sniff
Ha! That’s why you are now my perfumista idol! You’re so decisive! Enjoy that full bottle of gorgeousness 🙂
You say pota-TOE, I say pota-TAH; You say decisive, I say impulsive 🙂
I wrote about this here:
http://undina.com/2014/02/26/love-at-first-sniff-or-portrait-of-a-serial-spontaneous-perfume-buyer/
Oh my! You are the Jedi Master of the Perfume Universe! Wow! I can only bow down before your superior Perfume Purchasing Skills. When I grow up, I want to be just like you 🙂
Thanks for the link- I enjoyed the article and lovely photos of highly desirable goodies.
Wearing Bottega Veneta today, and really enjoying it.
Ahh. That is what I SHOULD have put on 😎 !
I’m back in the office after a few days working in NYC, catching up and wearing Chamade.
It’s a bank holiday here, sunny but cool. I’m wearing Tobacco Rose by Papillon Perfumes today. I think it’s my new favourite rose: I’m not a rose-lover, having had a few negative experiences with rose frags (I’m looking at you, Knowing) but I love this more and more each time I try it.
Sounds pretty – how much do you notice tobacco in it? I’ve been on the hunt for tobacco scents lately.
Very little or no tobacco as far as I can smell…I think I read an interview with the perfumer saying it didn’t really have a tobacco note but that tobacco was jst a nuance of the rose. I love tobacco too, but I wouldn’t look for it here.
I’m afraid to try this for fear I may succumb to another FB. This line is pretty well done, in my opinion.
Have you tried Evening Rose by Aerin Lauder? I am not a huge rose fan either, but it’s a nice one.
Wearing a hot-pink shirt today, so wearing Par Amour Toujours to match, as it’s my pinkest perfume.
I’m in Carthusia Mediterraneo today. We’re driving to L.A. to visit my in-laws, and it’s kinda muggy.
The weather, I mean – not the Mediterraneo. 🙂
HAHA! Love the Dior bot-men. Who are you, bot-men? Can you speak? What are your hopes and dreams?
Today I’m wearing Ambra del Nepal. It’s really cold here and no clients so I’m tidying up. Still waiting for package shipments… In my waiting malaise, I’m not too seriously thinking about ordering a deeply discounted bottle of MPG Santal Nobile for my husband. But we all know who it would really be for…
Seriously, they look like the evil bots from a sci fi movie. They’re about to harvest organs or something.
Yes, they are a little creepy.
One of them is either wearing shorts or has very short legs. Perhaps they are looking for legs…
Hey, you’re right! I did not even notice.
I suspect that a Dior ad designer with a sense of decency has cropped out a third bot man on the far right who is dressed in a navy blue ski jacket and matching Mondrian print speedo…
…either that or a normal guy wearing an “I’m with stupid” t shirt pointing left has been cropped out. One can only hope.
That makes complete sense, given the visible pattern of short sleeves-long pants, long sleeves-short pants. 🙂
I think they should use that image in a Mensa test question.
I forgot to mention my cat really wants a small bottle of Exultat, so I will be ordering her one.
Do not deprive the cat, especially one that has such good taste. 😉
Haha yes! my cat has excellent taste!
I’m feeling light and breezy today, so Chanel Bel Respiro it is!
I was fortunate enough to win samples of PHI Une Rose de Kandahar and L’air du Desert Marocain, so today I’m trying the latter. I haven’t read much about it, so I’m hoping it’ll work as a cool weather scent since it’s fairly chilly today in MD. And my tummy aches – so hopefully it’ll be a comforting one too. We shall see!
Sun Mi, I think it will work beautifully in cold weather. It’s smoky and cosy and comforting. Hope you’ll feel better soon!
Thanks 2rista! 🙂
Enjoy those
Will do 🙂
Love LdDM and hope it works for you, too. Also, just realizing you have a cool new or newish gravator. Is that espresso? Perfume goes better with caffeine! 🙂
Thanks for the compliment on the gravatar! 🙂 It was in fact an espresso, though one that I drank many many years ago. I could have used some caffeine today though – the baby is running me ragged!
I’m in Prada L’eau Ambree layered over one pump of Sahara Noir… I’m finding that SN is a good layering scent if I’m feeling the need for incense.
I am wearing one of my new fragrances today; Wild Fig & Cassis – JM. I love the smell of figs, but this one isn’t overly sweet. It’s a beautiful fragrance to wear. I’d imagine that it is probably considered a summer or spring fragrance, but it suits me just fine in this crisp fall / winter weather we are having.
Trying Wrappings again. Bought a full bottle unsniffed because I got a good price… my husband HATES it… but he is coming home late tonight. I am still trying to make up my mind. I like its assertiveness, and that it genuinely feels “holiday…” and it reminds me a bit of those green and red bath oil balls my mom had when I was a kid… but there is also something cleaning fluidish there… has anyone else tried this one?
Oh, yes, I love this one! It’s my 3-season ‘camping’ fragrance, and when the camping gear is stowed away for the winter, it becomes a favorite Christmas scent for me. But only the tiniest of spritzes is needed, this is heavy-duty stuff (and I am usually a liberal sprayer, only on my skin and usually under several layers of clothes, never on any article of clothing.). Perhaps go a bit lighter on the application – and wear several layers of clothes? 😉
I just some this year and like it. Maybe I’ll wear it later.
It’s a cool-but-not-really-cold day today, so I picked Secret Obsession (Calvin Klein). I know this didn’t get a lot of love in the marketplace and went to discount pretty quickly, but I like it. I like it much better than the original Obsession which I was kind of meh about.
I’m wearing Miss Marisa by Ebba. I hadn’t worn this one in a while, and now I’m wondering why I don’t wear it more often…it’s really lovely! A very quirky fragrance that really “speaks” to me.
I’m wearing Aftelier Cuir de Gardenia today. I’ve been wearing my samples all weekend, and I’ve noticed I’ve been getting surprisingly good staying power out of them. I wore Shiso on Saturday and Palimpsest yesterday, and in both cases I could still smell it the next day.
Which one are you liking best so far?
Well I just read a review of Santal Majuscule on iscentyouaday and it completely prompted me to spray it on tonight. It smells really good.
Ooh I just got a sample of this in the mail today – I’m excited to try it!
I decided that I needed Ellie D Nuit again (wore it recently) and am enjoying it.
Friday will be interesting. I guess I think of Dior as more for spring and summer, so it would be easier if I were in the southern hemisphere. I’ll probably rely on vintage Miss Dior who will tell me to just buck up. And put on some stockings, high heels and red lipstick for a change, really, how can women expect to be taken seriously when they slump around town in yoga pants and le no makeup. 😉
Hey, I resemble that remark! Lol 😉
Miss Dior would put an end to that! This is the real reason people are afraid of old lady perfume, LOL 🙂
I’m the cargo pants and no makeup type. Gotta have lots of pockets!
Hope you have some perfume samples in one of those pockets! 🙂
But of course! Rollerballs, travel sprays, etc.
Bvlgari Jasmin Noir, with shower gel and body lotion. This went from hate to love for me, and each time i wear it i get something new. On me its a slightly sweet woody frag, today with nuances of anise. Yum.
Then i went to David Jones and sprayed VC&A Bois d’Iris on one arm (its a contender.. still deciding) and California Reverie on the other, then tried some Coco body cream on one hand. Chanel really do their body creams well! Great texture and the scent lasted hours and hours!
I got a sample of VC&A Bois d’Iris, and feel the same way, not quite sure. I expect spraying would make it be fuller and stand out more, but for spraying I have to spring for a big bottle…such a problem. LOL.
I just put on some Jennifer Aniston perfume from my new mini, and by God, it makes me happy. It’s really cold here and JA is so bright.
SOTD = MPG Ambre Precieux
My 100 mL sample purchase was a huge success. This reminds me of Cuir Beluga except this one is less sweet and more ambery. I will have to experiment to see if I can wear this in close quarters with fume phobes.
Ha! I did the same thing with this one! I guess we won’t be able to swap here 🙂
Too funny! Did you like it?
Yes, it fills a need in my collection for a less sweet Amber.
Threw on what was almost the last of my PG Iris Oriental sample as I rushed out of the house. I enjoy it; I wish I felt it was special enough to rate a FB.
I’m wearing a bit of Britney Spears Fantasy The Naughty Remix. Does anyone else think the guys in the ad look like they are on the SNL skit Sprockets?
