Hermes Terre d’Hermes Eau Tres Fraiche ~ new fragrance

Posted by Robin on 27 February 2014 17 Comments

Hermès Terre d'Hermès Eau Très Fraîche

Hermès will launch Terre d'Hermès Eau Très Fraîche, a new variation on 2006's Terre d'Hermès fragrance for men (and see also the 2009 Terre d'Hermès Parfum).

Terre d'Hermès Eau Très Fraîche was developed by perfumer Jean Claude Ellena, and is described as a dialogue between bitter orange and woody notes and a clash between the solidity of earth and the freedom of citrus.

Hermès Terre d'Hermès Eau Très Fraîche will be available in 125 ml Eau de Toilette. Look for it in March.

(via esquire.es, parfumerie.nl)

Update: "Seville orange is used in place of grapefruit which the original Terre d'Hermès uses, to give a fresher scent." (via fashionmonitor)

Another update: see a review of Terre d'Hermès Eau Très Fraîche.

Oh wow, exciting! I steal my Dad’s parfum every once in a while, much to his dismay, so I’m really looking forward to this one. : )

Me too! Hope it is not too fresh/sportified. Huge fan of the original.

Ick, “sportified” is the kiss of death! No, no, no, don’t wanna think that Robin. >_<

          +1 on sportified!

I like tdh, just a bit too much orange for me though.

I think it’s a little amusing how they had to emphasise on the “very” fresh. 😛

The name is not very Hermes-like, it surprised me.

So true. It sounds very Escada.
I would rather go for something along the lines of “près de l’eau” (near the water).

Actually in french it does sound very Hermès. Classic “eau fraîche” with a fun emphasis on “très”. Very smart!

Hermes makes great mens fragrances. I dont expect anything fresh will bear much resemblance to Terre D’Hermes, so i think i will just few this an an original fragrance with the unfortunate circumstance of having been given a flanker name.

They do, and interested to see how fresh they’ll go…hopefully it will still be recognizable as Terre d’Hermes.

The original EDT does strike me as fresh in a hot-rock mineral way. I can see how the addition of citrus might be quite nice, but given that I only bought my bottle of Terre a couple of months ago I kind of hope its not too much of an improvement, lol!

Terre EDP seems like a different animal to me. Richer and without the purity and effervescence of the EDT…

Sounds like they are trying to pull more ‘less adventurous’ women toward this great scent. I doubt JCE will make it silly. I can’t wait to try it.

I just that fresh doesn’t mean lighter, since the EDT is not a strong fragrance. I was thinking that maybe This concentration will be a kind of Eau des Merveilles for Men?

I hear some groans across the perfuniverse about the name, but it doesn’t bother me. TdH is by no means heavy, but it can pack a bit of a punch in very hot humid weather, I would imagine, so a “fraîche” version might not be unwelcome. I’m always up for sniffing a J-CE flanker.

(side note: Hello and hugs to rickbr above me!)

Mayve i cannot detect the Iso E Super base so intense on me Joe, because even in hot days it’s light after some hours. The name itself doesn’t bother me at all and i’m curious now to sniff it too.

Hugs to you friend! Miss you…
