The Lord of Glass came to place at the feet of the Lady of Wool flowers and ferns which had frosted on him

Posted by Robin on 20 February 2014 14 Comments

A suitably strange video for the new Serge Lutens Laine de Verre. Here is the accompanying text from the Serge Lutens Facebook page:

"It is only after he had been penetrated by the winter that, laying down his arms, the Lord of Glass came to place at the feet of the Lady of Wool flowers and ferns which had frosted on him."

    Laine de Verre!?
    Wow! What a name.
I wonder if M. Lutens realizes that this is the French name for the pink Fiberglass insulation material.

Yes, that’s what it’s named for.

This is a very strange and repulsive name.
Anyone who has handled “Laine de verre” at some point knows that while it is very soft, it is a skin irritant that causes itchy rashes.

The idea of spraying this on my skin is quite disturbing. Not a fragrance that I will seek out.

So sorry! Doesn’t repulse me at all.

It’s weird enough — good fit with the brand.

I can’t really explain why, but I *love* this video.

          It’s an anti-commercial…

If anyone understands what he is saying here, please paraphrase…

I get the ‘breath of’ or scent of a steel helmut and that of a wool scarf but everything else escapes me.

There’s a little bit of “lost in translation” in all this. But overall, this video fits more into an insane world than where the healthy-minded live.
Yaoyi Kusama I’m looking at you girlfriend. You may soon have a new friend coming to keep you company in that nut house. Oh and he makes some mean perfumes!
