Love the two for Juliette Has a Gun, and he’s right that most perfume ads are boring.
Those are great ads, if a bit puzzling/random until you read his explanation.
I’ll take random over boring any day of the week – and those Escada ads seem to follow the same style they’ve been using since the 80’s! I guess if it ain’t broke…
Seriously, the Escada ad is either a) hopelessly old hat or b) purposefully retro. Hard to tell. It’s also weirdly unrelated to the commercial.
Those are some seriously dull ads. Really, Balmain? You’re advertising something that’s visually abstract – so you could do ANYTHING in the print ad you wanted – and that’s the best you could do? The Juliette Has a Gun duo are better than all the rest put together!
It is not a stellar group, & agree the Balmain could be much more visually exciting. It’s almost like what they wanted to emphasize was the font.
Little Red Riding Hood? Very original.
They’ve been using that imagery for Nina since the beginning. Strictly speaking, it’s not even a new ad, just a re-purposed one 🙂
That’s what I thought, that it wasn’t new..I don’t follow this house much at all. Still, I don’t like Little Red Riding Hood, lol.
I just noticed that one, laying naked with a dog is just weird. And them twins look very hungry and a bit creepy! Someone please give them a cheeseburger or something.
Doesn’t bother me, having a dog in bed while you’re naked. But I don’t have a dog. IIRC, one of the twins has a bulldog?
