Bunch o’ limited edition collector bottles 2013, part 27

Posted by Robin on 2 December 2013 9 Comments

More limited edition collector fragrance bottles, with the usual disclaimers: in most of these cases, the juice is unchanged, just the bottle is “special” (or not, as the case may be), and some of these may not be available in the US.

Bottega Veneta Murano edition

From Bottega Veneta, the original Bottega Veneta fragrance* in the Murano edition: "The Murano bottle is a particularly pure expression of the quality and craftsmanship of Bottega Veneta. The flacon, designed by Creative Director Tomas Maier as a vessel for the parfum, is an object of timeless sophistication and contemporary functionality. The bottle is made of exceptionally fine glass hand-blown by artisans of one of the leading glassworks on the island of Murano." $475 for 50 ml Parfum at Bottega Veneta.

Burberry Body gold edition

From Burberry, Burberry Body in the Gold limited edition: "A limited-edition gold presentation of the warm and sensual Burberry Body eau de parfum." In 60 or 85 ml at Selfridges in the UK (£55-75).

Flowerbomb Swarovski Ribbon Edition

From Viktor & Rolf, the Flowerbomb Swarovski Ribbon Edition. It is exclusive to Nordstrom, and sold out there before I had the chance to check the price, sorry! But here it is just in case anyone wants to know what it looked like (or in case they restock): "Viktor & Rolf bring you an exclusive bottle featuring a delicate ribbon of hand-placed Swarovski crystals shimmering across the surface for an unforgettable take on your favorite scent." In 100 ml Eau de Parfum.

Yves Saint Laurent La Nuit de L’Homme collector

From Yves Saint Laurent, a collector bottle of La Nuit de L’Homme done in matte black. In 100 ml Eau de Toilette, €79 at Sephora in France.

* Per Bottega Veneta, the Parfum version is different from the Eau de Parfum. Here is the description: "Bottega Veneta, the parfum, is a leathery oriental chypre that combines the naturally refined scent of leather with a lush and sophisticated oriental accord. In contrast to the eau de parfum, with its spicy floral depths, the parfum has base notes of vanilla, sandalwood, and tonka bean. The change in base notes transforms the fragrance, highlighting the sparkling freshness of citrus and floral top notes while leading to the charismatic and sensual core of the parfum. The backbone of the fragrance is chypre with a combination of bergamot, patchouli and oak moss. The seeds of obsession are sown with notes of balsam and leather. Natural ingredients trace a global path: there is bergamot from Italy, Jasmine Sambac picked in India, pink peppercorns from Brazil, and patchouli from Indonesia." (via press release)

The Bottega is kinda nice, cute little butterfly ‘charm’. But not 475 dollars nice. Just imo.

Too spendy for me too, although I’d love to try the scent in extrait.

I love that Burberry has expanded their Body line! They’ve now added a body cream in a Jar! I’ve been hoping they would 🙂

    The Flowerbomb was/is $300.

Did you see the $1600 version w/ Swarovski crystals covering it from head to toe?!?! I think it’s at Neimans. Awe to dream. : )

      Thank you!

And I sure did — already in the “luxury” post of holiday gifts, which is the last one so won’t appear til mid-December. Admittedly, that may sell out by then too.

I went to the Bottega Veneta boutique on 5th Ave & 55th and oh my, the parfum is to die for. It is definitely different from the original…it is a parfum and has a more robust intense sweet/salty leathery smell and the sandalwood was there, not very prominent but it definitely gave the parfum more depth. As to the Murano bottle, I wouldn’t pay the premium for it…it looks so plain and perhaps someone who KNOWS glass knows quality but to the untrained eye (that would be me), it’s just another bottle. I am hoping that the parfum is repackaged at some point — I will be the first in line to buy it.

Of course this is not to say I wasn’t tempted to buy it; however, my practical brain kicked in and said…patience…no rash decisions!

Thanks so much, I will have to see if I can find a place to test the extrait.
