Burberry Brit Rhythm ~ new fragrance

Posted by Robin on 2 August 2013 10 Comments

Burberry Brit Rhythm

Burberry will launch Burberry Brit Rhythm, a new fragrance for men, later this month. Burberry Brit Rhythm is a flanker to 2004's Brit for Men, and is the brand's first fragrance developed in house — Burberry ended their licensing arrangements with InterParfums last year. The new scent was reportedly "inspired by the music in the brand’s DNA".

Burberry Brit Rhythm was developed by perfumers Dominique Ropion, Anne Flipo and Olivier Polge. The notes include basil, verbena, cardamom, juniper berries, black leather, patchouli, styrax, cedar, incense and tonka bean.

Burberry Brit Rhythm will be available in 30, 50 and 90 ml Eau de Toilette.

While I’ve not been a fan of any of the Burberry scents, I will admit that the perfumers credited with this one is pretty darn impressive. Not a slacker in the bunch. Thankfully the bottle isn’t swathed in that hideous plaid. I just may give this one a sniff when it appears on counters.

I admit I loved the original Brit plaid bottles (although not the London bottles with the actual fabric) — these are supposed to be plaid crossed with the look of black leather or something.

I’m with you–although I did think the original Burberry for men (not Brit for Men) was quite pleasant, it was never enough to compel me to buy a full size; I could do very well without the Burberry women’s fragrances entirely. But this offering definitely sounds worth trying–and maybe buying!

So music has a smell? How ridiculous.

Yes, it is silly. It also reminds me of the concert-going days of my youth — a friend decribed punk mosh pits as smelling of sweat and B.O. and pop mosh pits as smelling of activated deodorant :-) I don’t want to offend any punks — there is nothing wrong with smelling like a human, and I love punk rock and the DIY ethic :-)

Burberry The Beat had a similar inspiration. And Tommy Hilfiger Loud, and Paco Rabanne Black XS, and on & on…

I also think the original Burberry(not Brit) for men is pretty alright. And I am so picky with men’s scents. I find most are too sweet or *something*. The rest of the Burberry line, I just can’t stand. The Brits especially. I have not tried the Gold or Red ones which I think have favorable reviews. Brit for women makes me queasy. And what’s with Burberry Weekend? Eck. Just imo!

The Gold was the best of the Brits, IIRC. And I liked the Intense version of The Beat, the regular not so much.

I am just pissed they are pulling off another Flanker when they could have devoted that time to making a Men’s Version Of “Body” I have NO Clue what goes through these People’s Minds. SHEESH! What a waste of Scent!

Another disappointment on the autumn men’s shelf. Brit Rhythm definitely doesn’t live up to the original, let alone London which is a great scent in my books. Brit Rhythm is weak, generic, a mere copycat of other mainstream scents plus it’s awfully diluted. I can feel no “rock” power here, no character, no charisma. It does get a dab better with time but by then it’s barely detectable on my skin.
