Bunch o’ limited edition collector bottles 2012, part 14

Posted by Robin on 21 August 2012 18 Comments

More limited edition collector fragrance bottles, with the usual disclaimers: in most of these cases, the juice is unchanged, just the bottle is “special” (or not, as the case may be), and some of these may not be available in the US.

Estee Lauder solid perfume compacts, 2012

More solid perfume compacts from Estee Lauder (see part 13 if you missed the last set): at left, the Private Collection Tuberose Gardenia Evening Star Perfume Compact ($195), and at right, the Pleasures Shooting Star Perfume Compact by Jay Strongwater ($295). Both are available at Saks Fifth Avenue.

Chloé Bianca locket

From Chloé, the Bianca locket: "Bianca preciously encases the Chloé signature fragrance. This long necklace is composed of a delicate chain and a pinkish enamelled locket....Both beautiful and useful, Bianca comes in an elegant beige cotton pouch, allowing you to bring your perfume wherever you go." Due to launch in September, €60. (via press release)

Parfums Salvador Dali Crystal Editions

From Parfums Salvador Dali, the Crystal Editions: "Four Crystal Numbered Limited Editions, four surrealistic sculptured bottles, true works of art, handmade in the purest tradition of artisanal art glass." Includes Dali, Le Roy Soleil, Rubylips and Daliflor. (via parfums-salvadordali)

Ralph Limited Edition, Ralph Lauren

From Ralph Lauren, a travel retail special edition of the original Ralph fragrance. In 100 ml Eau de Toilette. (via frontiermagazine.co.uk)

Bond no. 9 Harrods Rose, swarovski edition

I don't think this is new, but I missed it when it came out: the Swarovski edition of Bond no. 9's Harrods Rose. £550 for 100 ml Eau de Parfum, at Harrods in the UK.

I wish Salvador Dali would put their money into recreating their original fragrances instead of fancy bottles. Of course I’m sure a lot of those materials are no longer available.

I didn’t know the early versions, and am not even familiar w/ most of the modern line. But I do love those bottles.

Sorry folks I’ll have the stars AND the Dali bottles!!! I have always been attracted to the EL compacts but these are So Lovely. Must Have. Dali has always had amazing bottles but these really lift the bar.
Now I must win the Lottery.

My father’s stepmother collected those Estee Lauder compacts and perfume solids. When she died, they got thrown out. I could very happily have murdered the uncle who did it when I found out. Not that I would have kept more than the matador for myself, I think. But those things, some of them, go for pretty appreciable amounts, selling off that collection could have helped with some of the bills.

I’m not too enthralled with Dali – the column made up of lips but the others are gorgeous. Truly, I think they should just give up on the perfumes and concentrate on the bottles. It all started with visual art, after all…

But should have said — this is the best selection in the US that I know of, might be worth emailing them to ask if they’re going to get them:

For whatever reason, the shooting star compact (the $295 one, mind you) reminds me of the Reading Rainbow graphic.

And anyone who knows Reading Rainbow must see this:

Am I the only one who thought ‘sheriff ‘ when seeing that star one? lol.
I kinda want that locket! The price makes me sad though.

Robín After my comments of last time regarding the EL compacts..
I think it comes out to this.
This batch I LOVE . And yes they are made by JS, so it seems I like his oeuvre as the price tag didn’t make me jump! LOL
I really didn’t like the last batch. They looked like the Mediterranean crappy hand made bijoux my aunts used to bring from their trips to Europe. And trust me those were NOT $195 ;-) (more like 5)

Perhaps I am being snobby and the last batch was JS too. but it was a very different vibe anyway.

Bottom line: these two I’d keep and cherish :-)

Only the one on the right was JS, I think? But I do think the more expensive ones look better in person, too — not surprisingly.
