Donna Karan Woman ~ new fragrance

Posted by Robin on 25 July 2012 26 Comments

Donna Karan Woman

Donna Karan will launch Donna Karan Woman in August:

Just like a woman, the fragrance is a dichotomy of softness and strength. Utilizing ingredients that are traditionally found in masculine fragrances and wrapping them with nurturing white florals, Donna Karan and [perfumer] Anne Flipo’s groundbreaking creation results in a feminine and sensual scent: the confident signature core of sandalwood and Haitian vetiver is sublimated with the creamy feminine notes of orange flower resonating in an instinctual feminine sensuality.

Donna Karan Woman will be available in 50 and 100 ml Eau de Parfum.

I look forward to testing this. It looks like she’s back to the artsy bottles. I respect most of the fragrances she’s released outside the DKNY delicious set. I love her original Donna Karan.

Trying to remember now, but think she’s always done cool bottles for the signature line, other than the Essences, & now Donna Karan Collection. –But that’s not all that many fragrances, of course!

The sci-fi bottle is back! Surely that’s a good sign?

Yes, I love the bottle! It’s a feminine sci-fi, no? The notes sounds worth trying, too.

This sounds like it has potential! Aside from all the apple fragrances, I like Donna Karan’s scents. Chaos will always be in my collection (though I prefer the original bottle) , I adore Black Cashmere and Cashmere Mist is a good ‘ no perfume’ perfume smelling as it does of clean warm skin. I also love her Wenge from the Essences line. Listing them all like that, I guess I really do like the line!

Ha! Nice turn of phrase. And that’s exactly where my mind went, too.

Donna Karan Woman sounds like it has a lot of potential. It is definitely going on my “to smell” list. I may not wear any of the signature fragrances, but I do appreciate them.

Love, love, love the artsy sci-fi bottle! Reminds me of a cross between the Cashmere Mist and the original Donna Karan Signature (Batman) bottle.

Womanity by Donna Karan. Kind of trust her more than Mugler to get that theme right. Will try this.

The bottle looks like it contains a “serious” fragrance – is it also based on one of her husband’s designs?

Here is what they say about the bottle:

“The packaging for Donna Karan WOMAN is an evolution and a modern interpretation of the language that Donna Karan has always spoken – one that connects the world of art and sculpture with fragrance. A heritage that began with the creation of the iconic Cashmere Mist bottle in 1994 which was designed by Stephan Weiss, Donna’s [late] sculptor husband.
This innovative approach to packaging led her to commission world-renowned Iraqi-British architect Zaha Hadid to design the bottle for Donna Karan Woman. Zaha was inspired by the curvature of a woman’s body: voluptuous, mysterious and irresistible to the touch. The result is a sculptural silhouette that reinforces the individuality and sensuality of a woman.”

Will this have any relation to Donna Karan Signature, I wonder? I love that fragrance.

The bottle looks like a lobster claw!

Hey, I have an art bead in the shape and color of that bottle. (My bead smells of glass, though, not sandlewood)

I just tried this at my local Saks–it reads fairly woody on me. Black Cashmere is still my favorite from Donna Karan
