Lancome La Vie Est Belle ~ new perfume

Posted by Robin on 10 May 2012 31 Comments

Julia Roberts

Lancôme will launch La Vie Est Belle, a new fragrance for women, later this year. La Vie Est Belle aims to capture happiness in a bottle, and will be fronted by actress Julia Roberts.

La Vie Est Belle was developed by perfumers Olivier Polge and Dominique Ropion; notes include iris, patchouli, tonka bean, praline, blackcurrant, orange blossom and jasmine.

I will update with sizes, concentration, and an image of the bottle when I can!

Lancome La Vie Est Belle

Update: Perfumer Anne Flipo also worked on La Vie Est Belle, and the scent is described as a "tasty iris". Additional notes include vanilla and pear. It will be available in 30, 50 and 75 ml Eau de Parfum. It is due to launch in August.

Another update: see a review of Lancôme La Vie Est Belle.

i wanna be mean and say ‘happiness smells like a soft, non-descript floral with a base of fabric softener’ but the notes do sound good. i give em that!

I really liked Magnifique, but I don’t think it did well. I’ll give this one a shot!

I liked it too – I believe it’s been pulled from most counters at this point. I’ve been hoping to see some for cheap at Marshall’s or TJ Maxx but no luck so far. 🙁

I loved Magnifique as well!! I almost bought a FB when it first came out. Now I rarely see it — so I’m also crossing my fingers that it will start showing up at discount prices!!

I liked it on paper, and I was given a bottle as a gift but unfortunately it smelled like bug spray on me.

Granted, I do have a touch of face blindness, and it’s a small pic, but holy Photoshop Batman! I thought that was Barbra Streisand until I scrolled down.

The notes sounds like an au courant mish mash (orange blossoms! candy! patch! can we jam in some oud!?)

I think that shot is for a Lancome skincare product.

Roberts’ first venture with Lancome featured her as a blonde, which caused a stir, since she had been sort of a figurehead for brunette beauty hood. Guess Lancome is backing away from that approach and has decided to capitalize on her chestnut tresses.

By the way, this is a perfume name which I really, really like. I hope the juice is a bit more than the sweet notes du jour listed.

I preferred her as a redhead, but luckily I have Tilda Swinton Like This to satisfy my redheaded-actress-fronted perfume needs.

Swinton is preferable to Roberts in any hair color, as far as I’m concerned.

With Roberts fronting this one, I have a bit of hope that this will skew “older,” and thus more appealing to me.

I don’t want to be too snarky here, as I have great faith in Dominique Ropion. It would be nice to see Lancome bring out something noteworthy already. I’ve been thinking about my classic Climat for spring…..

GREAT NAME AND THEY SAY THAT IT TOOK THEM 3 YEARS TO COME UP WITH THE COMPLEX FORMULA SO I AM EXPECTING SOMETHING SPECTACULAR, I WONDER WHAT THE SHAPE OF THE BOTTLE WILL BE.
MY PSYCHIC POWERS TELL ME IT’S A TALL CYLINDER SHAPE AND THE BOTTLE COLOR PINK 🙂

Wait, no pink pepper? How is that possible? I’d love for Lancôme to have a good fragrance release. Their good scents are really good and then there’s the rest.

Sounds Good!!!! Magnifique didn’t wow immediately… was a hard fragrance to like… had to get to know it better to fully appreciate it’s charms… also loved that Anne Hathaway was the Face for it… but that bottle was SO UGLY!!!!!!!!! URGH! I think that had a lot to do with it’s demise… it was actually a damn nice scent once you let reveal itself….

I also like Magnifique, besides disliking both the bottle and Hathaway. And I love Tresor and Cuir, so I’m looking forward to this one. Black currant is one om my favorite notes!

I liked Magnifique, both the bottle and the scent:D. I do love saffron in perfumes, the bottle was sparkly just like the fume, I liked it a lot:D.

I haven’t yet, but I will eventually! I was so busy this summer that I didn’t get a mall even once, but I will this month.

You know, because I didn’t go to the mall all summer, I ended up smelling about 20 things this weekend, so it’s more of a blur than it should be. All I can say is my very quick impressions from a blotter (no room for it on skin!): nicely done, less interesting but clearly more “crowd pleasing” than Magnifique, clearly related to Flowerbomb & the like, but I didn’t find it as overwhelming. Great bottle.
