Robert Piguet Bois Noir ~ new fragrance

Posted by Robin on 30 March 2012 23 Comments

Robert Piguet Bois Noir

Robert Piguet has launched Bois Noir, the first of a projected five fragrances in a new series under the name Nouvelle Collection:

Robert Piguet Parfums is pleased to present Bois Noir. This avant-garde elixir combines warm woods with rich balsam. The blend opens with facets of gaiac and cedar wood. Heart notes include warm sandalwood and patchouli. The drydown features the richness of balsam and cistus absolute. Bois Noir is modern sophistication and the ultimate scent for baring bold style.

Robert Piguet Bois Noir is available in 100 ml Eau de parfum, and can be found now at Harrods in the UK, £130.

(via harrods)

Update: Bois Noir was developed by perfumer Aurelien Guichard.

Is this for women, or non-specific. I can’t help but think of Antaeus – wasn’t its original name Bois Noir?

I’m so sorry but I have no idea!

At Chanel, Egoiste was originally Bois Noir.

And will add — coincidentally, the press kit for this series arrived literally while I was answering your comment. And I still don’t know…it says nothing on the subject of gender. I’m going to take that as = unisex.

that was it – I knew it was one of them. Bois Noir (RP) reads quite masculine, although I’d be pleased for a female dark woody scent.

What? No oud? Seriously, though, the notes sound wonderful, and I hope this comes to the U.S.

There is an Oud fragrance in the series, of course — hopefully tomorrow I’ll announce the rest of them.

Of the four Piguet fragrances I’ve “met,” each has been surprisingly good so I’m looking forward to these too. M. Guichard is to be trusted!

It did worry me that the oud one is called Oud. If you’re just calling something Oud, it better be really good.

    Looking forward to your reviews!

    Eh, not cheap.

That aside, it’s a brands that I’m pretty fond of and I’ve mostly liked how they handled the ‘classics’ (?) so I’m curious to see what they’ll do with the all new releases. The notes for this sound rather nice.

Me wonders if Chanel will sue over some of these names.

Looks like they got a trademark for Bois Noir de Robert Piguet.

The Others in the series are going to be called….

“Casbah” A Rich Almost Oriental Sounding Fragrance, With Black Pepper, Nutmeg, Tobacco and Cedarwood

“Mademoiselle” (Chanel DEFINITELY may take some offence to this one!) A Bright Sunny Sensual Feminine scent with Bergamot, Orange Flower and Tonka.

“NoteS” My fave sounding of the Quintet.Seemingly an Almost Fougere-like Aromatic Floral with notes of Clary Sage, Bergamot, Costus, Orange Flower, Tonka Bean, Geranium, Oak and Vetiver.

    And Finally…

“Oud” Just Oud People… Oh Kay! Sounds Very Rich, Deep and Aromatic Demi-Chypre.. Notes of Saffron,Oud, Guaiac Fir Balsam, Styrax, Myrrh, Vetiver and Patchouli.

All in All they all sound incredibly well done and quite nice. I am looking forward to them all! :-) they Hit June 5th supposedly.

i have tried ‘bois noir’ at harrods last week and it smells EXACTLY like ‘nasomatto black afgano’, this what ‘nasomatto black afgano’ should’ve been like! however, i don’t find the need to buy ‘bois noir’ as i already own ‘black afgano’ but i recommend it wholeheartedly.

I saw mention of a new Fracas coming out, sort of a Fracas light? Anyone know of this, or sniffed?
