Chanel Allure Homme Sport Eau Extreme ~ new fragrance

Posted by Robin on 24 February 2012 55 Comments

Chanel Allure Homme Sport Eau Extreme, Danny Fuller advert

Chanel will launch Allure Homme Sport Eau Extreme in March. The new fragrance for men is a flanker to 2004's Allure Homme Sport, which of course was a flanker to 1998's Allure Homme. Allure Homme Sport Eau Extreme is meant to be an edgier scent; it will be fronted by surfer Danny Fuller.

Allure Homme Sport Eau Extreme was developed by Chanel house perfumer Jacques Polge; the notes feature mint, clary sage, black pepper, tonka bean and sandalwood.

Chanel Allure Homme Sport Eau Extreme will be available in 50 and 100 ml Eau de Toilette.

Oh why oh why, is there all these flankers..eau, sport, extreme, bla bla bla!! Is it because they are so afraid to launch a new scent, that has nothing to do with the other scents? Or is it all about the $$$??

All of the above? Everyone is doing sports scents this year for the Olympics, so that’s another factor.

Just came back from London, passed by the Free Shop and tried all the sport flankers I haven’t. They all smell almost the same in a very bad way. Really generic.

BTW, I guess this trip I did not really made good decisions with fragrances. :-/

Yeah, but can we declare a limit on adjectives? Maybe just two?

What woudl that leave us with, Chanel Allure Extreme. I still want to retch.

Something tells me this wont be as good as Bleu, but will probably sell more anyway.

Oh, I’d be shocked if it outsold Bleu.

I was gonna say – I worked at a fragrance counter when Bleu came out and it would be hard to overstate how well that stuff sold. Especially for a men’s fragrance. It flew off the shelves and we had trouble keeping enough in stock. I had a list of shoppers to call when we’d get more in. I hardly ever saw anything like it, even for a women’s fragrance (though I’ve heard it was similar when Coco Mlle was new). I was even selling Bleu to women who wanted to wear it themselves.

Chanel is not above such things. The commercial sounds like it might be kind of fun, so there’s that.

Oh no! Chanel, what have you done! We don’t need more flankers, more eau extremes, more sport scents. We’ve already been flooded with ‘fresh sport scents’ during last few months.

I’ll probably smell it (if possible) just to give it a try. But Chanel Blanche or Chanel Pour Monsieur are still my faves from Chanel.

So you are saying that they should stop doing flankers even though one of your favorites from the line is a flanker? Seems contradictory to me.

I was supposed to write ‘flankers of flankers’ – that’s how we can call Allure Homme Sport Eau Extreme.
I know Blanche is an Allure’s flanker and I really like it, but flankers of flankers is crazy…

Yes, I did! Will you use tie under your white coat when being in the laboratory on the future?
Hah and what a coincidence: we call tie here as “gravata”. Lol!
And how about your gifts? Any frag?

          24 February 2012 at 11:10 am

I don’t think I would wear tie under a white coat. I’d boil myself, it usually get’s really hot when we work in the lab. ‘Gravata’ that really is a coincidence with gravatar.
BTW Where are you from. Gravata souds like italian or spanish word.
I still didn’t get any gifts, my parents went to work early morning. I’ll probably get it when my father comes back soon. Mum made a chocolate-cherry cake.
I’ll let you know about the gift.
I was also planning to throw a small party yesterday, but I had to postpone it for next thursday, maybe my friends will get me some perfume?

Lol. Your gravatar is a gravata. I’m from Brazil. Yuuuum , I love chocolate cakes. Chocolate used to be an addiction. Maybe you could send me a slice! Lol. Just kidding. The party idea is a good one. I’m very shy for organizing or let anyone organize one to me. Hope you get great gifts! Waiting to know! ;)

          • lucasai says:
            24 February 2012 at 11:25 am

That makes perfect sense;) I personally can’t wait to eat it! If only it didn’t have to travel above the ocean:P
Well it’s not the real party, we are going to have a great pizza and some drinks. I’ll tell you today what my parents got me, but you’ll have to wait another week to find out what my friends got me.

          • lucasai says:
            24 February 2012 at 1:38 pm

Moore, my parents got me for birthday a wonderful spring jacked from the newest collection from my favourite clothings brand!

          • moore says:
            24 February 2012 at 2:03 pm

That’s great. It’s good to be gifted by parents cause they always know our tastes. My pair of jeans I told you on my birthday were a gift from my mother and it’s also from one of my favorites brands!
            Planning a self-gift?

          • lucasai says:
            24 February 2012 at 3:22 pm

I particularly tried that jacket on the previous week and I really liked it, so they must’ve memorized this one and they came back for it.
I thing I’ll go for a self-gift. I passed on the messenger bag for the moment. I still have Chanel Blanche on my mind, but I’m also looking forward to two new releases: D&G Anthology 4 – L’Empereur and Prada Infusion d’Iris Absolue.
When my friends asked me about the birthday gift I told them they could buy me some smooth jazz cd’s or sephora gift card and they said they’ve been thinking about Sephora from the beginning but they didn’t know what to choose and they didn’t came up with a gift card idea.

          • moore says:
            24 February 2012 at 4:15 pm

A gift card would be nice. Here, sometimes we join to buy a more expensive gift. Then we write in a beautiful card some messages. I didn’t know about that D&G. I like L’Imperatrice. So fun, you thinking about Ed. Blanche and in your birthday date a anouncement of Allure Homme Sport Eau Extreme.

Have you ever heard Tom Jobim?

          • lucasai says:
            24 February 2012 at 4:22 pm

I would be very satisfied with the gift card – no matter how much money will it contain I’ll be able to by some perfume of my choice for smaller money. And we do also practise a bigger group gift here.
Ah right, It’s new Chanel announcement on my birthday, fun.
But I still go back to 2010 (probably) when there was an Oscar Academy Awards night on my birthday

          • lucasai says:

And in maybe 2 or 3 years we’ll get BLEU sport, L’ EAU de BLEU, BLEU Extreme, blah blah blah.

As much as I didn´t like the original egoiste (I found it too bitter when it first came out) I must say that is the last masculine from chanel (of the regular line that is, I am not counting Sycomore) that had some personality.

I dislike the Allures. They smell distinguished and posh but do nothing for me.

Of course I will try this….. That cute surfer’s face is very tempting hehehehehehe

Ohhh… Once upon a long ago I was skinny and had great beach hair too….. but that was at least 17 years ago! hehehehehehehehheee

Isn’t “sport” and “extreme” mutually exclusive concepts in perfumery? Wouldn’t they simply cancel each other out and we’re left with the original? It’s all just so very confusing.

    Robin,
if I ask you to make a top 5 of the must have fragrances for a 25 year old brazilian guy, what would you recommend?

I have about 15 fragrances (I’ll list them above and put a ‘*’ next to my favourites), but I’m always searching for the best ones. I use to go blind when I buy fragrances because the mall is too far from home.

    My fragrances:
    * Cartier – Declaration
    * D&G – Pour Homme
    * Hermés – Terre d’Hermés
    * JPG – Fleur du Male
    * Prada – Amber Pour Homme
    * Roberto Cavalli – Black

    Calvin Klein – Euphoria Intense
Carolina Herrera – 212 Sexy Men
    Chanel – Allure Homme Sport
    DKNY – Be Delicious Red
    D&G – The One
    JPG – Le Male
    Versace – Blue Jeans
    Versace – Pour Homme
    Tom Ford – For Men

    Thank you for your help.
    Carlos.

Just got my hands on this one! The opening notes make this quiet a fresh scent (I assume this has to do with the mint, which is all the rage since 1 Million launched all those years ago) but then it goes dry and woody. It is a decent fragrance that is light and perfect for wearing during the summer months.

And yes, flankers do get tiresome, but they must make money because why else would they keep launching them?!
