Jean Paul Gaultier Classique X L’Eau ~ new fragrance

Posted by Robin on 13 February 2012 13 Comments

Jean Paul Gaultier Classique X L'Eau

French designer Jean Paul Gaultier will launch Classique X L'Eau later this month. The new fragrance for women is a flanker to 2010's Classique X, itself a flanker to 1993's Classique.

Classique X L'Eau is a lighter version of Classique X; notes include bergamot, neroli, peony, orange blossom, vanilla and iris.

Jean Paul Gaultier Classique X L'Eau is a limited edition, and will be available in 100 ml Eau de Toilette.

More flankers, like an ever-reproducing army of clones. Will it ever end? Probably not. 😀

The only JPG I’ve ever enjoyed is the fun Ma Dame.

I liked Ma Dame too…we are a group of 2, I think — it did not seem to take the world by storm 🙂

I also liked Madame more than the others in the range, but not enough to actually ever purchase!

I only ever got a 15ml sample. But it was a nice cheap thrill. Reminded me a bit of Kenzo Amour?

I wonder when L’eau de L’eaus are going to make their appearance.

This flanker trend could disappear if the brands start discontinuing some of their fragrances and investing on higher quality new ones. I’m sure we’d do well without the Amor Amors, Gucci II III IV, most of the Bosses etc.

I am pretty sure Diptyque has a L’Eau de L’Eau!

“…a lighter version of Classique X”?? I thought Classique X was altogether too light as it was.

I’ve never understood this Classique X, it has nothing in common with Classique. It’s entirely new scent, much more…meh.
I also like MaDame and wear it quite a lot. I have never smelled it on anyone else, but I think it sells fairly well here. I’ve never seen it on sale, crammed in with the usual suspects; Miyake A scent, Hilfiger Hot and Cacharel Libertee,

I’m with BlackRaspberry – a lighter version of Classique X might barely have a smell at all!

I tried last week and it´s just slightly fresher than the orginal, I would say more citrus and less powder
