Estee Lauder Bronze Goddess Capri ~ new fragrance

Posted by Robin on 17 January 2012 29 Comments

Estee Lauder Bronze Goddess Capri

Estee Lauder will launch Bronze Goddess Capri, a limited edition variation on their yearly summer fragrance, Bronze Goddess. Both are due out in February.

Inspired by the Isle of Capri, Bronze Goddess Capri Eau Fraiche/Skinscent is a solar oriental. The juice opens on notes of cassis, mandarin and lemon leaves, building to a warm heart of jasmine sambac, muguet and peony. The base blends vanilla, amberwood, patchouli and musk.

Estee Lauder Bronze Goddess Capri will be available in 100 ml Eau Fraiche.

Update: Bronze Goddess Capri was developed by perfumer Harry Fremont.

So, if I understand correctly, they release the regular BG every year?

So far, yes — in late winter / early spring, and then it sells out.

Sounds lovely- I do like Bronze Goddess. It’s just hard to fathom summer fragrance launches in February!

I do like the regular. I didn’t like last year’s BG Soleil — hope this one is better.

And it called Capri because ….?

      Because it’s inspired by Capri?

I do love me some of the original Bronze Goddess body oil. Never been too enamoured of the seasonal flankers.

I have a bottle of the fragrance, which really helped me get through the last month of teaching last May/June! I bet the body oil is lovely!

Did you buy it at the Estee Lauder beauty counter, beside the fragrances? I might have to take a look.

Besides, maybe I need a back-up bottle of BG! (Did I hear that they change the bottle from time to time?)

Yes, I bought it at my local Australian EL counter in 2008. :)

I really hope this one is better than last year’s Bronze Goddess Soleil. The notes sound nice, but don’t scream “beachy” or “summer” to me…

My thoughts exactly … I’ll probably try it out just ’cause, but I’ll be surprised if I need a bottle.

I’ll give it a sniff, but I can’t smell this from the list of notes “in my mind’s nose” at all!

I love BG Soleil. I don’t like the original. Since Michael Kors already has Island Capri, couldn’t they have come up with a better name?
I think these summer launches are coming out earlier and earlier to maximize selling time and to correspond to the cruise collections. It’s summer somewhere in the world! By the time summer does come in the Northern Hemisphere, the fall clothes are starting to sneak into the stores. That’s when the fall makeup collecitons are launched too so why not the appropriate perfumes!

Mmm, Bronze Goddess! I am interested in how this flanker smells. I love the original so much, I’m always tempted each year to buy a new bottle, even though I have well over half left of the one I bought two years ago. But you never know when it might disappear….

It’s not all that expensive, either. Seems prudent to stock up!

I’m interested in trying this flanker. The orginal – don’t hate me – is just not quite right for me. Not sure why, but something in the heart notes and drydown is just off. Perhaps this will be the one I can enjoy this summer!

It’s off on me too. The wood really takes over, and it’s far too heavy for summer. It’s really good on those first few restlessly warm nights in spring though. On the plus side, Sensuous does everything I wanted it to do in the warm-weather woodsy skin scent category.

I just noticed that Estee Lauder has seized a controlling majority in my perfume collection. I always thought it would be Chanel :P

EL also made Michael Kors Island Capri. And Missoni which was also central/southern Italy oriented, note-wise.

Not sure how patchouli fits into the bronze goddess theme. We shall see …

I treasure my bottle of Azuree Soleil and so have not needed or wanted to bother with any of the BG releases but this does sound lovely and I adore the colours on the bottle, very summery, especially on a chilly grey windy day in London….

I didn’t think much of Soleil but love BG – I’ll try this, since Estee Lauder can really surprise me. I shouldn’t even be surprised any more – I should know by now that they make some damn fine perfumes.

I debate buying this every year, the when I finally decide to go for it, it’s sold out. Then I say, well, I guess it’s meant to be. Ha! maybe this is my year? Hahahaha. I did not like the Soliel either, the regular BG is just perfect as is…warm but not sickly sweet.

I sure hope they also re-issue Bronze Goddess along with the new flanker. BG is such a reliable pleasure. Wasn’t very impressed with BG Soleil, and this BG Capri doesn’t sound that interesting, either
