Katy Perry Meow! ~ new fragrance

Posted by Robin on 4 November 2011 29 Comments

Katy Perry Meow!

Katy Perry will launch Meow!, her second fragrance for women, this month. Meow! follows 2010's Purr, and is packaged in the same cat bottle done in an opaque pink that was inspired by vintage milk glass.

Meow! by Katy Perry is a companion piece to the singer's first fragrance, Purr, and was created while Perry was on the California Dreams world tour promoting her platinum-selling second record, 'Teenage Dream.' This rich follow-up scent is a wearable interpretation of the fun, sensual spirit of the tour—so fun, in fact, Perry felt the name of the fragrance needed an exclamation point at the end of it. Still, Meow! commands a soft sexuality appropriate for use during any time of day. Its signature comes from a pairing of honeysuckle and pear with the backdrop of creamy vanilla, musk and amber. So while Purr marks Katy Perry's first foray into the fragrance world, Meow!, more than anything, embodies her energy.

Perry described Meow! as a "little bit more sweet" sister fragrance to Purr. The  notes include tangerine, pear, gardenia, jasmine, honeysuckle, lily of the valley, orange blossom, vanilla, musk, amber and sandalwood.

Katy Perry Meow! can be found now on pre-order at Nordstrom, in 50 ($45) and 100 ml ($65) Eau de Parfum.

Soft sexuality as the teenage dream in a bottle for preschoolers?

    Have they gone mental???

Robin, you need a tween/teen reviewer here lol :-D
We adult women may diss this fragrance, and who knows how many perfumistas will claim in 2030 that Meow! was their first fragrance!

No doubt. I think the bottle has been the biggest reason for anyone to purchase.

Why can’t a perfume I like come in a bottle that fun? I am a 26 year old grad student but I have a weird fixation with all things adorable.

Reminds me the Christmas G just hit Sephora today, I think.

And as someone who hates all things pink and cutesy-kitschy…

…even I saw this bottle and said “squeeeeeeeee!”

I think I will hold out for Hiss!!! The less sweet, less soft flanker that embodies Katy’s bitchy side and comes in a black bottle.

I want one that’s a Calico theme, and better yet, a “noir” frag in a black bottle.

I do love this bottle — I have Purr and this bottle looks just as cute to me — reminds me of something my grandma would have had on her dresser. I’m 40, BTW, and I wore Purr quite a bit after my sister gave it to me for Christmas. Mostly because I couldn’t resist a spray from that adorable bottle. ;)

I can’t understand the attraction for plastic-doll-perfume-bottle. But I DO love this pink cat one! Something about the colour makes me wanna hug it…

I’ve been hanging out to see this. It’s pretty much what I expected but the milk glass is a nice touch. Another perfume I will find hard to resist due to an adorable bottle!

I showed this bottle to my 9 year old and she is in love ! I bought the first release, Katy Perry Purr, basically for the bottle and it is killing her that she cannot have one. It’s too bad this stuff isn’t priced for the tween market.

Based on the scent notes I’m having a hard time believing that Meow will be sweeter then Purr. On me Purr is already light on the floral notes, is very fruity/sweet and very creamy…

Anyway – I loved how the arenas themselves are perfumed on her California Dreams tour, so I’ll probably get Meow to remind me of that. The storyline running throughout the concert involves Katy going to the magical land of Candyfornia [like her California Girls video] in search for her missing cat.

This explains the names, bottles and sweet fragrances. They are tie-ins. Even though the cynical part of me knows that, a bigger part of me squeals “how cute, I must have it”…

It starts out with a hard/boiled fruit candy scent (synthetic/generic?) with underlying vanilla sugar, a bit creamy, then dry down is very nice, soft creamy vanilla, with slight hint of white floral and light amber/musk notes in there too.
It is not a unique groundbreaking new scent, but it IS a BETTER quality than most celeb scents. It smells a lot like the other fragrances out there already such as “Fancy”, but this is way better, not cheap or headache inducing. It’s very safe soft for everyday non offensive wear and I think its nice in the hair too. I also do love the cat bottle, which is what initially sucked me in!! Give it a try and see!

I had hoped I would LOVE Meow for the bottle, but I don’t. I prefer Purr much much more. I love me some sweet but my goodness is this SWEET! I NEED that bottle so I’ll wait till the 1 oz bottle comes around. Ha. : )
