Taylor Swift Wonderstruck ~ new fragrance

Posted by Robin on 15 July 2011 29 Comments

Taylor Swift Wonderstruck

Country pop star Taylor Swift will launch her debut perfume, Wonderstruck, in September. Wonderstruck was made under arrangements with Elizabeth Arden; the title comes from a line in Swift's song Enchanted. Per Swift,

Falling in love is a moment every girl daydreams about and Wonderstruck represents that magical feeling of promise and hope and intrigue. It was fascinating to learn that you can layer so many different scents to create a beautiful end result.

Wonderstruck is a gourmand developed by perfumer Olivier Gillotin; notes include freesia, green tea, apple blossom, raspberry, dewberry, Hawaiian blanket, hibiscus, honeysuckle, vanilla, musk, peach and sandalwood.

Taylor Swift Wonderstruck will be available in 50 and 100 ml and in matching body products. (via wwd)

I’ll try it, because I love Taylor Swift. This is the first celebrity perfume I haven’t rolled my eyes at!

My daughter would love this. Despite my best efforts to include the classics and our take on the essentials in her MP3 collection, she just loves the two or three Taylor Swift songs we put on it. At least this sounds pretty enough and not too cloying. It could always be worse. ;)

      Nearly always!

Elizabeth Arden usually does a reasonably good job.

    What is Hawaiian blanket?

Beats me! Google was not helpful. I am guessing it is a typo, but no way to know.

I’ll bet it was meant to be “bouquet”, but someone was using the Francophobic version of SpellCheck.

Was just thinking the same, what the heck is Hawaiian blanket? I swear some just make up creative ‘fantasy’ notes.

I’m with you on the “fantasy note” theory. I asked a friend who lives in Hawaii if he had ever heard of it, and he said Hawaiian blanket must smell like a beach blanket: sand, seawater, sunscreen, and maybe a little plumeria in the background.

My 9 year old is a Taylor Swift fan and a true girly girl. So far I’ve only let her have Love’s Baby Soft, but this might be the first real perfume for her. I have a feeling it will be perfect for a little girl.

I’m far from the target demographic both for this perfume and for Taylor Swift (Hank III fan here), so I’ll limit my commentary to the bottle, which looks like it’s ripping off Lolita Lempicka Fleur de Corail (and not very appealingly).

It is similar to L de Lolita Lempicka, as well. But I am such a sucker for a cobalt blue bottle! I’m really not a huge fan of gourmands at all, but Mr. LP is. I’ll give it a sniff and ogle the bottle

As one who OD’d on Hanae Mori in her early 20s, I’m also done with gourmands (mostly). Maybe it’s my monitor, but to me this bottle looks like it’s a pedestrian shade of purple. If it is indeed cobalt blue, that’d be an improvement.

This sounds kinda pretty, really, if a bit young for me. I have to confess that even as a middle-aged woman, I do like Taylor Swift as a songwriter and singer. Very talented. I’m drawn to gourmands in colder weather – maybe I’ll go sniff it then!

Any Miracle Can Happen… I might like the Juice and hate the Person fronting it… kinda like Mariah Carey’s “M” and “Luscious Pink” which both are SURPRISINGLY Well Done… But just like Madame Carey, I Completely LOATHE Taylor Swift… Now all that has to happen is Carrie Underwood comes out with a Frag and i know i can go on a diabolical rampage of Destruction! ;-D

Hey, is anyone else here old enough to look at the color/shape of that bottle and immediately think of Evening in Paris?

Hey, speaking of teen celeb fragrances, Selena Gomez is coming out with too. She has stated that her past favorite perfumes have been Daisy Eau So Fresh, Paris Hilton (of all things), and something called Frilly Lilly: “Frilly Lily is a new line I found at an event and I fell in love with it. It’s just a light, fruity, sweet kind of perfume and it’s very nice and classy in a way, too.”

I got to try Wonderstruck at Macys yesterday. If you’re not a fan of sweet berries, I think this applies to you Robin, you won’t adore it. Haha! I get a sweet berry top and the drydown smells just like Britney’s Fantasy to me. But of course, it’s a lot lighter. It isn’t a SWEET monster at all, but it’s definitely a celeb scent aimed at a younger market. SHOCKING, I know. Hahaha! : )
