Marc Jacobs Bang Bang ~ new fragrance

Posted by Robin on 2 June 2011 34 Comments

Marc Jacobs Bang Bang

Marc Jacobs will launch Bang Bang in August. The new fragrance for men is a flanker to last year's Bang, and is described as a "refreshing citrus twist on the original".

The notes feature lemon, sandalwood and cashmere musks.

I will update with sizes and concentration when I can find them (Bang was in 50 and 100 ml Eau de Toilette).

(via cosmeticsbusiness)

Update: Bang Bang is available in 30, 50 and 100 ml Eau de Toilette.

Another update: see a review of Bang Bang.

hate this bottle… hope its not plastic but that color looks like a cheap toy…

instead of making a stronger version… sight

I adore the name, but yeah, wish they’d gone stronger instead. But hey, a lighter version in a blue bottle was probably a wise decision, sales-wise.

But wish that next they would do an intense version in a shiny opaque black bottle, called Bang Up?

I wish they would do one in a flying car shaped bottle and call it Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.

They should just add another “Bang” for each new flanker–by 2015 it will be Marc Jacobs Bang Bang Bang Bang Bang Bang Bang Bang Bang Bang.

This is the best suggestion for a flanker’s name I have ever heard!!!

I have just now remembered what this reminded me of: The Spam lady in Monty Python. One of their funniest sketches!

I love the name, too! Got a flashback to the old Chevy Chase/Goldie Hawn movie, Foul Play – ” Kojak, bang, bang.”

        A lighter version?

I wouldn’t have thought that possible, since after 15 minutes Bang is *very* close to the skin for me.

If Marc Jacobs releases a group of fragrances at the same time, he can always call them Gang Bang!

I did not like the original Bang fragrance, so I will skip this one. I would be interested if they would do a more intense version of Bang. Maybe “Big Bang” ;-)

I liked the original enough to buy myself a bottle at deep discount. Definitely not in the market for a lighter version, but I love the idea of an intense one, no matter what it’s called (altho Bang Up is pretty perfect.) Not a fan of the bottle; while it’s admittedly cool looking (original) it’s off balance enough that I’ve put it in a special place to keep it from falling over and knocking things around.

Hope Marc Jacobs gets a list this good when he’s ready for flanker #2!

I was just saying the other day that I want my next job to be naming OPI nail polishes (those people have fun!) but maybe it should be naming flankers.

Those OPI shade names are always so crazy-creative!

I just love that my summer toenail polish is “Call Your Mother”. I suppose it’s silly to care, but it adds to the enjoyment — as I’m sure they’re well aware over at OPI.

Am I the only one who is thinking of Barney Rubble’s son Bam-Bam when first seeing this article?

But the real question is…will Marc oil up again for the ads? Or how about blue paint a la the Blue Man Group? Maybe him AND them, all with strategically placed bottles? :-)

C’est Marc Jacobs Bleu, non? Maybe Mr Jacobs should get Lang Lang to front Bang Bang? ;-)

LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE THE ORIGINAL!!!!!!!! Wear it ALL the time and always get people asking me what i am wearing… love the idea also that this may decrease the Pepper note in the fragrance which upon first blush i wasn’t a big fan of… now… well i love it to death but still could use a lighter moment of it! And I, Personally, Think the bottle is Beautiful!

this sounds more appealing than original Bang, all I could smell was pepper.

I don’t particularly like the bottle, but I prefer it in silver.

I can’t remember if I’ve mentioned this elsewhere but I talked to a Coty vendor and she told me Bang is pretty much done for, SO SAD because it’s one of my loves, and that Bang Bang is coming next year! Even MORE sad! Haha. I think she said spring. That’s too far away. : (

It really was! They have it at Marshalls and such so I’m gonna attempt to stock up. Oh and Coty just got back to me saying Bang Bang is already in the US but exclusive to Marc Jacobs boutiques at the moment. Dang it! Haha. : )
