Le Labo Synesthetic Series ~ perfume workshops in London

Posted by Robin on 19 January 2011 8 Comments

Le Labo Devonshire Street, London, store exterior

Niche line Le Labo will be holding a series of creative workshops in London with "synesthetic provocateur" Nicola Pozzani:

Le Labo Synesthetic Series is a series of 5 syneshetic workshops about perfume, which will take place once a month, on Sunday afternoons at Le Labo Devonshire Road’s boutique in London. Students will experience perfume by using the 5 senses with a synesthetic approach, which means they will explore the connections between the sense of smell (the one directly related to scent) and the other senses (vision, touch, sound and taste). Students will then develop their perfume knowledge through their sensory perception and their creativity.

Le Labo Synesthetic workshops will be 100% interactive. Working in small groups, Students will learn about Le Labo fragrances and the finest perfume ingredients they are made of. Students will then engage in practical sensory exercises and by doing so will become actively involved in experiencing the connections between perfume and other sensations. This synesthetic experience will help them expand their knowledge of scent.

[...] Nicola Pozzani is a perfume professional and Cambridge CELTA qualified English teacher who has combined his passion for perfume and teaching experience to create these workshops. He studied sensory languages and synesthetics at Università dell’Immagine in Milan, where he studied Perfume Science with Jean Claude Ellena. He has worked on sensory and research projects for a variety of beauty and perfume companies. He lives and works in London.

The series will take place every last Sunday of the month from January to May, from 4 to 6 pm. Workshop size is limited to 6, and the cost is £45. You can RSVP to lelabolondon@lelabofragrances or +44 20 3441 1535.

(via press release)

Update: oops, left out the crucial information that the workshops will be held at their boutique at 28A Devonshire.

Another update: the cost is £45 for each separate class, not for the whole series!

I wish I could go, but I’m not free on two of those Sundays. Completely swooned over their “Poivre” the other day in Liberty – it develops so wonderfully on skin. Luca Turin is rather nastily dismissive of most of the Le Labo fragrances, which distresses me!

Best not to let reviews distress you — love what you love, who cares!

A dream.. a dream come true, it would be! The only thing that would make it better (since I’m dreaming, here) is if Eddie Roschi and Fabrice Penot could be there too. Hopefully this workshop series will be a success and they will consider holding them in the States, and other parts of the world as well.

They do hold workshops here, in NYC, although they’re not exactly the same, and not entirely sure they’re still holding them…

Thanks so much for posting details of this! I have booked to attend the May one which covers all senses and perfume. Apparently the January and February workshops are already full up. btw the cost is £45 per session just to be pedantic!
