Briny scent of the seaside

Posted by Robin on 21 October 2010 6 Comments

The researchers said it would release a candy floss smell when the image shows a fairground and can even emit the briny scent of the seaside when people look at their holiday photos.

— From 'Smell-O-Vision' TV developed by Japanese scientists at the Telegraph.

I’m thinking of how dangerous that could be while watching all the cooking shows I like… As if the dishes weren’t tempting as it is. The candy floss segments could be sponsored by Pink Sugar.

Though I imagine watching National Geographic’s nature shows via Smell-o-vision could give Muscs Koublai Khan a run for its money. 😉

It would really make you eat, right? I don’t think I could stand it.

I always watch my DVR’d cooking shows while I’m eating dinner and they still make me hungry (especially when I’m eating ramen noodles while watching Chicken Tikka Masala being prepared). Smell o’Vision would be torture for me. Although I sure was curious what Alex O’Loughlin smelled like when I was watching him roll around in bed with some woman on Hawaii Five-O the other night. 😛

This in some way reminds me of those air fresheners that are time released. I can’t remember the name, but it’s probably Glade. Anyhow, the researchers probably produced a better product!

I’ve been waiting for a briny perfume that isn’t chock-full of white flowers or ozone notes. So far, nada. I will believe it when I smell it.
