Le Labo Another 13 ~ new fragrance

Posted by Robin on 31 August 2010 20 Comments

Le Labo Another 13

Le Labo will introduce Another 13, a new limited edition fragrance made in collaboration with AnOther magazine:

AnOther Mag and Le Labo met and fell in love, and ANOTHER 13 is born - a magic potion built around ambrox, a note with an animal quality that hurts so good. The 12 other ingredients give the odor a trail that starts at 213 rue Saint Honoré, and which will be etched into memories for a long time. 500 bottles produced in total for an ultra limited edition.

Le Labo Another 13 is available now for pre-order at Colette in Paris; $216 for 100 ml Eau de Parfum. (via colette)

Update: see a review of Le Labo Another 13.

Oooooh, animalic, no thank you! Although, Le Labo has such a devout following, I’m sure this will get some love and praise 🙂

Hard to say if the finished product here will be animalic to any great extent — I wouldn’t write it off just yet! Except of course it’s quite expensive, so…

I’m wondering if having ’13’ in the name will damage its prospects?

I think it could actually add to the attraction…..Le Labo seems to purposefully engender that “a little different, a little enigmatic , a bit a of walk on the wild side” facade.
I won’t be rushing out to try this, but I bet plenty will.

Gosh, really — are people that superstitious? Beats me, I wouldn’t have even thought of it.

Perhaps the advertisement could feature the song “Hurts So Good” by John C. Mellenkamp?

I am not rushing to try it. But if the Barney’s in Vegas has it when I am out there, I will try it. I have yet to find anything from them that I like.

Oh lawd. I feel like the Le Labo marketing tries to use exclusivity to connote luxury, but to me it just feels so high school. “An ultra limited edition”? A regular old limited edition wasn’t limited enough?

For an ‘ultra limited edition’! These are getting tiresomely ultra for me…

But then, like, if you get some, ya know, you get to be, like, in the ultra-super-cool kid’s group, fer sure! (oh god, I just gagged myself!)

Is Ambrox like Ambergris? Or is it a musky/amber note?
I love Le Labo scents anyway….. must sniff!

(-)-Ambrox® – moist, soft, creamy, persistent, warm, animalic, amber odor with a velvety effect.
      *and*
(+)-Ambrox® – accentuated woody note and lacks the strong “animalic warmth” of the (-)-isomer.
So there you go – I Googled. 🙂

Thanks Rustic! I could love velvet, animalic and woods for sure! I am a huge fan of Le Labo, have to smell this one.

I’d say this sounds decant worthy, but with my luck I’d fall in love with it and there’d be another bottle to add to the short list of ‘must buy’, so maybe I’d better stay clear of this one. 😉

Does it say something about me that that price sounds absolutely affordable for a limited edition with such a very small number of bottles?

If/when the inevitable split opens up, I’ll definitely be getting 5ml (the new “sample” size). I do enjoy many Le Labo creations.

It’s not that expensive to me, either. Their regular 100 mls are about $200 anyway. I think this one might just be harder to find.

Gee, we’re having a run of ad copy that veers way over the top aren’t we… Amouage’s Memoir and this one “that hurts so good” with an “odor trail that starts at 213 rue St…” (one hopes Parisian dogs haven’t dumped anything in front of said address).

If you like Le Labo’s Ambrette 9 but are looking for something that stands out more and lasts longer look no furher. Another 13 is dirtier but is in the same line as their Ambrette.
