Posted by Robin on 4 August 2010 10 Comments

HSN, a leading multichannel retailer, announced today that its exclusive launch of Mary J. Blige's My Life fragrance on July 31 drove the sale of more than 60,000 units with about 6 hours of air time, shattering fragrance records at HSN for units sold and placing the launch amongst the most successful in the prestige fragrance market.

WOW!! My bottle just arrived last week. And I have to say it’s a pretty nice fragrance. The staying power on me isn’t all that great. But for a celeb fragrance I think it’s one of the better one’s.

Glad to hear it’s at least pretty nice!

As I mentioned at the NST FB page – that’s a helluva lot of unsniffed purchases!

It’s amazing, esp since the parts I watched on YouTube were NOT enthralling.

LOL at that. I feel like they should have had some sort of free sample campaign via their website. I wanted to try this but I really don’t want to buy this one unsniffed.

Boy, no kidding! That number amazes me…that number of unsniffed purchases, even that number of anything sold via HSN in just six hours. Who knew?!

Wow that’s a lot of perfume. I’ve gotten much better about trying before I buy, however, but have read this isn’t too bad over on MUA.

I know two people who bought it for the heart shaped bottle. They’d never heard of Blige, and aren’t particularly in to perfume, but loved the bottle. Both were co-workers who I’d never suspect of watching shopping shows ( I work with executives!) and both of them told me about it because they know I am a perfume ho. I guess you just never know what’s going to sell. I don’t think either one of them has opened the bottle, or even plans on it.

Huh? They are not even going to open the bottle? My lord …

I think all those purchases may be chalked up to her huge fanbase and the fact that she was raising money for a great charity.
