Oh Mary. You look like a drag queen in the pic. 🙁

Yes, she most definitely looks like a drag queen. That is not supposed to be a bad thing. Drag queens are fabulous…the fabulousness just didnt translate well in this picture. Oh well, I’ll have a sniff. Carol’s Daughter has a decent product line.

Don’t know her, of course (I never know anybody). So no idea what she normally looks like, but didn’t think drag queen when I saw this.

I don’t think she looks like a drag queen, nor would I consider that an insult. But I do think she looks sort of… stoned. Disinterested? Would that be a nice way to put it? She has sort of a “just get this photo shoot over with” look going on.

True. But that’s what I think people always look like in these shots where they’re trying to look sexy. So wonder if that’s what she’s doing…trying to look sexy.

I like this ad. There is a certain casual elegance about it that harkens back to when every perfume ad was glamorous. I suppose my only critique would be the maker, Carol’s Daughter, a brand who’s scents are only marginally preferable to the smells emanating from the sewers of third world countries.

Love Mary, hate the bottle. Anyone who knows Mary (or listens to her music, rather) knows there is nothing soft, cliche or heart-like about her such as this bottle, or even the notes in the fragrance suggest. BIG misrepresentation. She’s more like a diamond in the rough and whatever that smells like, but I suppose CD’s design team couldn’t venture that far out on a limb.

I won’t be trying this, but kudos to Mary for supporting a smaller company since she could have almost any of her choosing. Her MAC Viva Glam ads were fab…

She doesn’t look like a drag queen. She looks like herself, which is the way drag queens wish they looked. Furthermore, she’s always looked that way. I think she’s beautiful. Good on her for choosing this company. I’ve never tried their wares, but I’ve read good things about them.

For God’s sake. Is it about her appearance or the product? Time to change the litterbox here. I lose my mind sometimes with these type of remarks. Unbelievable.

And by the way, Mary J. Blige is a nine times Grammy recipient with 8 multi platinum albums. What is the fragrance like should be the question.

They might sell more that way than they would in Macy’s…they can really build up the hype, and it probably costs them less to promote.

She looks sensuous and relaxed. Her eyes are heavy lidded..makes me think of…Cleopatra maybe? Sailing down the Nile at noon day..
some thick dark kohl eyeliner would totally complete it. 🙂
