Anna Sui Rock Me! ~ new fragrance

Posted by Robin on 5 October 2009 33 Comments

Anna Sui Rock Me perfume

Anna Sui has launched Rock Me!, a new perfume for women fronted by model Agyness Deyn:

Anna Sui rocks your world with a daring, wild new fragrance. A little bit glam rock, a whole lot of fun. For nights when you want to hang out with the band, go out with your friends. Wear black leather, black nail polish, black-rimmed eyes.

It's on the sweet side of dangerous, mysterious, rebellious. But deeply romantic and charming at heart.

The notes for the fruity floral fragrance include Williams pear, green orange, peach skin, jasmine, honeysuckle, waterlily, cedar, amber and vanilla.

Anna Sui Rock Me! is available in 30, 50 and 75 ml Eau de Toilette and in matching body products. In the US, it can be found now at Target. (via annasui.com.hk)

She is so cute, even in that ridiculous outfit. Loved her in the Burberry Beat ads…

Yes, she is! And that outfit really is over the top.

She is awesome, but when I see her in a perfume ad, I automatically think Ma Dame. I don’t really think it’s been long enough for her to be fronting the campaign for a completely different perfume. Of course, maybe my attention span is just too long for the modern world.

During the 80’s there was a model that looked just like Agyness Deyn.
If you remember Elton John’s “I don’t wanna go on with you like that” video, you’ll know what I’m talking about. Everytime I see her face, I remember that video. Eerie!

I like Anna Sui fragrances, as they are very “giftable”, girlie and not expensive after a while ;-)

Her outfit has many “Pieces Of Flair”!!!! :-)

I can’t remember that video, and almost went to see if it was on YouTube then decided I’d just as soon not hear that song again. HA!

And yes, many, many pieces of flair, LOL…

Bill would have been a better model choice, he’s a lot prettier
but maybe I only think that cuzzz I’m in a fangirl mood right now

They don’t even have any kind of ~*dark note*~ to counter all the girliness even a little bit? o__O

I like her too, but three fragrance commercials is way beyond healthy for the fragrances themselves. I wonder what was Anna Sui’s ad department thinking???
And this picture is horrible… Makeup even more ridiculous than outfit, and her eyes look a little displaced…
Last, we had enough “Rock” fragrances already… all this looks really bad idea to me.

Would think that’s less confusing than the number of scents fronted by Kate Moss, who also has scents under her own name!

Is the bottle supposed to resemble a guitar? It’s rather phallic otherwise (not that that’s a bad thing). My first reaction to the name was also that we’ve had enough fragrances with “rock”. I love waterlily in a scent but don’t hold out much hope for the fruity floralness.

No real rocker girls look like that, nor do they aspire to, in my opinion. This is so obviously targeted toward young teenage girls who fantasize about being something but are not sure yet just what they want to be. I agree with Manna: the outfit is ridiculous and the makeup laughable. Kinda like Barbie impersonating Bowie. The copy doesn’t make me want to sniff this…”the sweet side of dangerous”? Please.

Yes, would guess that’s right — it’s aimed at young teenage girls. And probably mostly in Asia, which is where I think the bulk of the Anna Sui beauty business is.

You are absolutely right! This dreadful outfit is not rocker – well, unless you think a 12-year-old who wears Avril Lavigne’s Kohl’s clothing line is a rocker. My darling Agyness, I am disappointed.

Also, could someone tell me what’s “dangerous” about these notes? It sounds rather par for the course, actually.

Yes indeed, if it’s ‘daring’ and ‘dangerous’ you want in a fragrance, you’d be calling at a Serge Lutens boutique, no? Not stopping by the mall. This effort by Anna Sui sounds deeply conservative to me, ‘charming’ and ‘romantic’ being the obvious give-aways.

Okay, so I’m old and grumpy.

My initial thought was “Wow, Billy Idol has had so much work done that he’s unrecognizable now!” until I looked again. **is embarrassed**

Kaos is right, she looks remarkably like Angie Hill here. The whole ad reminds me of Avril Lavigne’s Black Star, too.

Thank you! I never could place the model’s name!
It was so pre-google that it did not show up, and me being from Argentina, I was not familiar with ALL the model names from that era (though I tried! heehehehe)

Angie Hill then! You’ve made my day!

She is an actress now – been on Days of Our Lives for awhile, and some other films/tv shows. I’m sure she has a listing on IMDB.com

Wow. Target. It could have only been better if it were “exclusively at Target.” :) And yay for *no* pink pepper!! Though if they wanted to make this dark and daring, oud seems to be the note du jour. What a kick in the fruity floral ass that would be. :D A totally incongruous kick, but a kick all the same.
