The Fragrance Foundation of Germany has announced the winners for the 2009 Duftstars awards, the German version of the Fifi awards for best fragrances. The award ceremony was held on May 15 in Berlin. And the winners are:

Women's Prestige ~ Bvlgari Jasmin Noir

Men's Prestige ~ Christian Dior Dior Homme Sport

Women's Exclusive ~ Tom Ford White Patchouli

Men's Exclusive ~ Mark Jacobs Fig Splash

The distinction between "Exclusive" and "Prestige", by the way, is determined by how many stores carry the fragrance. You can see the winners in other categories at the Fragrance Foundation of Germany website (in German). (via fragrancefoundation.de)

Jasmin Noir gets an award – well deserved!

The German nose is clearly “total in Ordnung”!

I’ll never like Jasmine Noire – my ex-harpy wife bought it during the most acrimonious part of our divorce last year. I’ll never smell it without my teeth itching as a result.

And Velvet Hour gets one in the “Women’s Lifestyle” category, whatever that is. But why not? Three cheers for blue pepper, whatever THAT is!

It’s basically mass market, looks like, although it’s kind of funny to call it lifestyle and then contrast it to “exclusive” and “prestige”.
