Marc Jacobs Fig Splash & Gardenia Splash, Fragonard Fleur de Vanille ~ new fragrances

Posted by Robin on 8 July 2008 18 Comments

Marc Jacobs Fig Splash perfumeNew from Marc Jacobs, two more fragrances in the limited edition Marc Jacobs Splash range: Fig Splash and Gardenia Splash.

MARC JACOBS Fig [shown] unfolds with the richness of fig and the freshness of yuzu zest and Tuscan cypress—warm and enveloping without overwhelming.

MARC JACOBS Gardenia opens with the freshness of dewy greens, blossoms with the airy florals of gardenia petals, then dries down to a beautiful base of creamy musks.

Marc Jacobs Fig Splash and Gardenia Splash are available at Nordstrom in 300 ml each, $68.

Fragonard Fleur de Vanille perfumeFragonard has launched Fleur de Vanille, a new fragrance in the Naturals collection:

Sensuous vanilla flowered with Ylang, heliotrope and rose on a sweet harmony of chocolate, cocoa and musk.

Fragonard Fleur de Vanille is available in 100 and 200 ml refillable spray, or in a 600 ml aluminium refill. (via fragonard)

that Fragonard is replacing the previous Vanille, which I believe had vanilla, chocolate, amber and patchouli. Their fairly new Figiuer Fleur is replacing Eau des Garrigues, also from the Naturals line, although the lineup of notes had no changes that I really saw – it appears to be pretty much the same scent. I really like that slightly different label on the MJ bottle – wish they'd do it for the Sorbet line, that would be pretty – esp. if they had pics of the sorbet balls!

Thanks for letting me know about Figuier Fleur, I love Garrigues and will be very sorry when my bottle runs dry !

The MJ label is an improvement, although personally, I've not found any of the Splash line appealing.

And adding — just checked the Fragonard site, & if you look at Figuier Fleur, the picture actually shows the Garrigues bottle 🙂

I have tried some of the Marc Jacobs Splashes: grapefruit and poire and these are really good!

MARC JACOBS……Who would ever have thought that someone who designs the ugliest handbags and clothing could product such lovely splashes! I have three of them, GRASS, IVY AND GRAPEFRUIT and all of them are absolutely wonderful with lovely lasting power as well. They come in huge glass bottles, so I purchased some high quality glass 1 oz atomizers on ebay and I tote them around in my purse all day. In this heat, its just a lovely little respite to spritz here and there all day long. I WILL try the new FIG. Cannot wait!

I thought that the original Marc Jacobs was already Gardenia. Do we really need another?

Yes, we absolutely do need the Gardenia splash and the Marc Jacobs, because the Gardenia splash is quite different from Marc Jacobs EDP. We just got the Fig and Gardenia in; I really like both. The Fig will work well as a unisex fragrance … the Gardenia doesn't have that ugly waxy undertone of so many gardenia fragrances. I'm getting 1 of each, and stashing it away along with my half empty MJ Rain.

I'm through with the MJ splashes — good as they sound — since I had that nasty, nasty cheap musk experience with an (unfortunately large) decant of Pear splash. The top notes were amazingly delicious (I love pear), but after 15-20 minutes tops it turned into the scrubber of my nightmares. It's barely good for room spray at this point.

I have not liked any of them past the top notes, so far. Will certainly try these 2.

Marc Jacobs also has Basil Splash and that one was not bad either.

Hope that the fig splash gets to Brazil or to the online(and discounted) retailers.
I love figs in fragrance and look forward to trying this one…
Hope they last longer than those VS's body splashes…

Good luck, hope you can find it! I have found that most of them last ok, just that much of the fun is in the top notes.

to me gardenia splash smells exactly the same as essence. does anyone else feel the same? ..unless the clerk at sephora put the wrong sample in the vial.

I never tried the GS on skin, but would think they’d be at least similar…with the splash probably not lasting as long.
