Flower by Kenzo Spring Fragrance, Kenzo Amour Florale ~ new fragrances

Posted by Robin on 11 March 2009 26 Comments

FlowerbyKenzo Spring FragranceKenzo Amour Eau de Toilette Florale fragrance

Kenzo has introduced warm weather versions of two of their popular fragrances for women:

Flower by Kenzo Spring Fragrance / Eau de Printemps 2009 (shown above left) is a new variation on 2000's Kenzo Flower, and follows last year's Winter Flowers. Developed by perfumer Alberto Morillas, the new scent is lighter and fresher than the original, and features notes of mandarin, litchi, ginger, violet, freesia and white musk. It is available now at Sephora in France, in 50 ml Eau de Toilette. (via cosmoty.de, sephora.fr)

Kenzo Amour Eau de Toilette Florale (shown above right) is a flanker to 2006's Kenzo Amour (other Amour flankers: KenzoAmour Indian Holi, Amour Le Parfum). It was developed by perfumer Daphne Bugey, and is described as lighter, fresher and more floral than the original. The notes include neroli, cardamom, grapefruit, black currant, frangipani, rose, gardenia, white musk and cedar. It will launch in May in 40 and 85 ml Eau de Toilette. (via bellemania.de)

Other recent launches from Kenzo: Les Eaux de Fleur Collection.

There's that fabulous Amour bottle again. I like Amour for the cool weather but think I bought it for the great bottle to perch on my dresser. R: Is that bottle clear, do you know? (pant, pant)

They are beautiful bottles, aren't they? So, well, handle-able. Every time I see one, I want to pick it up and hold it. (Not to get all Freudian on you or anything.)

I thought Amour was very comforting but didn't really see it as a need-it scent, bottle or no bottle…

I was wondering the same thing — I assume it is, but not at all positive. They've already got a white one, so thinking it must be either clear or frosted?

I like Amour, but this one sounds very different — should be interesting at least.

Had to have a bottle of my own to handle….uh-oh, better page Dr Freud!

I'll have to get a sniff of this flanker to see how it goes, absent the bottle question.

Kenzo Flower is a classic “Eau de Migrene” for me, just standing next to my uber-doused friend gave me the most head-splitting headache ever. Amour has a similar if milder effect. The only fragrances I like are L'Eau Par Kenzo – fantastic in the summer – and Jungle (both Tiger and Elephant), although the latter are harder and harder to find – have they been discontinued?

The Amour bottles are adorable so may give this a sniff – with caution :-))

All spring releases so far have proven disappointing, will probably resort to Bronze Goddess and the Aqua Allegorias – Herba Fresca agrees with me the most and it probably works even better layered with Mandarine Basilic – they are everything I wanted Un Jardin En Mediterannee to be!

For those of you who love the Amour bottle, I satisfied my need for one — in orange! — by buying a little set of 3 minis (white, orange, fuchsia) of the original and gifting the other two. Sephora might still have them.

I was surprised how much I liked Winter Flowers — enough to get a FB. Curious about this spring one, but doubt I'll need it. I guess you never know. (also, I think you picked up the German spelling of 'litschi' there).

The new Amour could also be interesting; I generally trust Kenzo's instincts and they put out a good product. Bugey is keeping busy. I wonder if Amour and Flower are amazingly huge sellers for the line.

Thanks — just fixed the spelling! I liked WF too, this one doesn't sound as compelling to me, but who knows. Kenzo usually does do a good job.

It's strong stuff. I find the Amour less so, but obviously your mileage may vary :-)

Three! I will definitely check that out! I like the Kenzo parfum d'Ete too…another cool bottle, shaped like a leaf.

I'm SO in love with Kenzo right now. I'm tempted to buy that Amour flanker bottle just because it looks so hot.
But yeah, I finally broke down and bought FlowerbyKenzo Le Parfum. Full retail. And I regret not a cent of that. The fragrance… omg I can't even describe how much I love it. And just today, I ordered FlowerbyKenzo Oriental. <3
On that, I do hope this Spring Flower is better than Winter Flower, or the Summer ones from the past.

I get a bad headache from Flower, unfortunately, I think the bottle is stunning and I love poppies.
@Nile Goddess: Eau de Migrene – what about Irresistible? This one givs me the same really bad headache!
Have poppiesl on tea cups, cards… But only for the bottle?
The winter-edition I liked also, but I am so spoiled since niche frags that I hardly liked something else since then.
Do you have any idea for something similar and not department store?

Gosh, why did you pay full retail though? You can find it cheaper!

But why pay more for a niche scent if you liked this one? They're all made by the same perfumers, after all — no reason to assume a niche variation would be any better. Offhand, can't think of anything similar anyway though!

Never smelled Tiger, but wow Elephant is something…..can't say I like it; but it seems lots of other people do.

I got a sample of the amour eau de toilette florale, and it reminded me of my mom. She loves it, I like spicier fragrances but the sweet, light stuff smells really nice on her. I gave her the sample, I will have to find her the full size when i get more money.. even though this scent is not the type I usually like, they did a nice job with it. It’s gentle, the undertones are soft and feminine.

Did you try the Amour Le Parfum? That’s definitely a spicier version.

I haven’t but as far as sweet perfumes go I seem to be really addicted to the basic Kenzo Amour. It wears well on me, it lasts without being too overpowering, i will have to check out the other one too, thanks..I’m glad i found a good birthday present for mom though
