I'm embarrassed to say that I haven't given them all a try. I adore Figue Iris, but that's the only one I've tried on skin.
I love tiare so will definitely try Tiaré-Mimosa. The Cherry Blossom sounds very boring and adolescent…I might be being a snob here…

Didn't Guerlain do a fragrance called Cherry Blossom before, or something like that? It was pink and had swirls of pink shimmer in the juice.

Well, I guess I'm uber-embarrassed because I haven't smelled any of them yet….better get my sniffer in gear. I just found this blog last week and I'm so excited! Of course I signed up about 37 seconds before the new account thingy went away…good timing or bad? I've now read so many of the archived reviews that my head is spinning but I'm sure Kevin's Halloween Slop Pot-pourri recipe is burned into my memory forever.

Got my first ,very small, bottle of Chanel no5 when I was 10 and I've been hooked on smellin' fine ever since. I am amazed at how you all seem to be able to pick out and identify each component! It's awe-inspiring, really it is. I hope I can learn to identify each note like everyone here seems to be able to do. (olfactory-envy??)

As it is, I've been rifling through my samples basket, testing and reading the reviews….and compiling LISTS of what I need to try asap.

I see what lovethescents means though, the cherry blossom sounds very young…..but maybe fresh and young will be welcome this spring? The Tiare-Mimosa is going on the list. :)

Welcome to the crazy and fascinating world of perfume blogs, Daisy! Recognizing notes just comes with experience. Enjoy!

It's hard to try them all — some of them disappear off the market rather quickly. I like the line myself, but it isn't “perfume snob” material, admittedly…

Hi Daisy — sorry you signed up & will have to do it again in a couple weeks if you want to keep commenting, but it's only a loss of a few minutes, right?

The Aqua Allegorias *are* geared young, but they're well done & I've liked quite a few of them. Hope they don't take forever to get to the US, as they sometimes do!

These two definitely sound skippable. I barely tried Laurier Reglisse once and I had looked forward to that. I need to stop in Sephora more often or something.

Wow that's a lot of product if they release two per year, though I realize some stay in production and others are quickly dc'd.

Have they also standardized the size at 75ml? Seems like my Mentafolia is 100ml and my Herba Fresca is something like 30ml.

Orginally, they came in 75 ml and 125 ml but in Canada we only seem to get the smaller size now, although the larger is still available in the rest of the world. I am not enamoured of gardenia and vanilla so the Cherry Blossom is much more attractive to me. I do, however, question the wisdom of labelling it with a name already in use. The Cherry Blossom fragrances have been coming out pretty well yearly since 1999.

So far in my perfume collecting, the only Guerlain I've liked is the discontinued Meterorites – sweet, simple, powdery violet. It just makes me happy when I wear it. So if Cherry Blossom is sweet and powdery, I'll give it a try. Sometimes all I'm in the mood for is something not too complicated.

I don't think I'm a perfume snob, per se, because I do own JLo's Deseo and Miami Glow, and SJP's Covet. However, it's the idea of pink, swirly, sparkly things that make me turn up my nose. Chances are, if I espy that little AA Cherry Blossom, I'll ask the nice lady at Sephora to squirt me up a sample (to go with the rest of the AAs I must try).

Hi Daisy! As divinemama says, welcome! It does take quite a while to know perfume notes. In fact, I have a lot of trouble deciphering differences between the big, white florals. A good start is getting hands on soliflores or other single noted perfumes.

All in all, despite what anyone says, it's up to your own nose to either like or dislike, right? I've read reviews by LT and TS and don't agree with most of their expert opinions. It's all a question of taste and chemistry.

    Have fun!

Thanks for the kind welcome(s). I love to read everyone else's take on fragrances; it makes me go back and re-sniff and say “ah, so that's what that is” or “they're mad, mad I tell you! I don't smell that at all!” (or, you know, somewhere in between), or even “thank goodness, I'm NOT crazy!” (like when I tried Bulgari Black and kept thinking “why do I smell like hot ashphalt and sap???? This can't be right.” ) And then there's the new language I'm learning— I had no idea “skank” had a smell!!!! (who knew? )

But I'm learning….still my nostrils first register the “yum or yuck” factor….that's short for: “hey, that's nice” or “soap! SOAP! I need soap, STAT!” … hopefully I'll get to a level where I say (in refined tones) “ahh, mimosa”…… or: “hmm, civet…interesting..”

Never hurts to try, esp. if you can get a free sample at Sephora.

Yep Daisy, lol, you definitely fit in. Soon you will look down your nose and smirk at fruity flowers and pretty but boring scents–then you will be in the grasp of the plot…the cult of perfumistas. Run! get out while you still can (insert evil laugh)!

First your relatives will notice a difference in the way you smell things and your house will become cluttered with little sample vials everywhere. And then they'll eventually stage an intervention–but it will be too late. And you will die with a bottle of Serge Lutens stuffed up your nose.

    Yes you'll do nicely.

    Joy,

    Becca

I liked Laurier Reglisse more than most people, I think — I wouldn't mind having a bottle. I'm too cheap to pay full price though! Did finally score a cheap bottle of the Mandarine Basilic.

Cherry Blossom geared to teens with bergamot and tea? I don't get that. Being a floral gal, I might just love them both. I love florals and they both sound lovely for spring and summer. I'm still a sucker for Guerlain though.

Oh, aloto —I'm afraid it's already much too late for me—-although I appreciate the warning (you are such a humanitarian!, the evil laughter will be our little secret.).

An intervention? I'd probably pass out sample decants for them all to try….their plan would sooo backfire.

I'm only allowed ONE shelf in the fridge for my bottles and tubs of samples…and I only get this because the hubby gets TWO spaces in the garage (priorities revealed). I have been reduced to giving some of the “less-loved” and “well, that was a mistake” bottles away to unsuspecting friends.

I'm so glad to be a cult member ….I'll begin practicing my smirk immediately…. and if I die with a bottle of Serge Lutens stuffed up my nose; do I at least get to select the variety? (Iris Silver Mist please—and I'd make sure to douse myself real good before I passed)

and don't forget the copious amounts of scent strips stashed everywhere, purse, wallet, gym bag, bottom of makeup and sock drawers.

I forgot the strips! I too Daisy give away my scrubbers to unsuspecting relatives. They love them. Honestly they are not very discerning. If they love it…bonus, if they don't it'll turn up at the next garage sale. And if I see it they'll say, “Why, who accidentally put that lovely perfume out here?”

The Tiare-Mimosa sounds very promising. I will approach the Cherry Blossom with extreme caution. That is, if I ever catch up with these before they disappear!

I think that's true in the US as well…only 75 ml. And I don't think they officially distribute the regular Cherry Blossom series here? Or maybe only at their boutiques (Bergdorf Goodman & etc).

Have tried several; so far, the Tutti Kiwi is the one I liked best. If it's still at Sephora, I really need to drop by and get a sample.

Meh. I've tried a whole bunch of them (since they were mentioned on some blog as entry level Guerlains) but none of them wowed me. They all smell nice, if blah, and then proceed to do something really weird and unpleasant on my skin. Even Figue Iris, which I like best of the bunch.
    I'll be skipping these.

ahh, yes…but we do have fabulous smelling socks!! I always find several scent strips under the seats in my car…along with empty altoid tins. I don't know why I ever even bother with scent strips anyhow: all I can ever smell on them is paper and alcohol. I guess they can help with the intitial weeding out of scents that make you gag but really most scents don't smell great on paper.

I smelled yesterday Tiare-Mimosa. The the warm and peppery sweetnes brought me memories and I liked a lot the perfume, without knowing why. Then, I realised it had something in common with the rare I love Dior (the bottle with jeans pattern). But the later is now extinct and I am happy to find something to replace it, even though Tiare-Mimosa is lighter, with less personality. What could be in common? Mimosa?

Well, I love Dior was a very successful limited edition (I read a lot of comments expressing regrets for its disparition). One of the misteries of the industry: why bother to create huge quantities of uninteresant fragrances and issue only few bottles of a special and good one? Anyway, Tiare-Mimosa is for me the best of Aqua Allegorias and I know them all. The melange is unseparable and the result is atmospheric. And it is something different, at last, after all the fruity freshy new issues.

Guerlain does the same and discontinues all my favorite Aqua Allegorias — buy this one now if you love it!
