Holiday fragrance gifts 2008 part 5

Posted by Robin on 8 December 2008 13 Comments

From Pacifica, a "Fruits and Flowers of Paradise" coffret with five of their spray perfumes (Hawaiian Ruby Guava, Tahitian Gardenia, Tuscan Blood Orange and Mediterranean Fig), $100. For slightly less $, check out the Solid Perfume Gift box with nine solids (Bali Lime Papaya, Tahitian Gardenia, Malibu Lemon Blossom, Brazilian Mango Grapefruit, Hawaiian Ruby Guava, Waikiki Pikake, Tibetan Mountain Temple, Tuscan Blood Orange and Mediterranean Fig) for $75.

Not so very pretty, but a gift sure to warm a perfumista's heart: the "Perfumery Notes Kit", with "40 of the most popular ingredients used in perfumery, pre-diluted and ready to sniff", along with a reference booklet, 40 disposable pipettes, 100 scent strips and 5 empty bottles — perfect for anyone who wants to learn more about the raw materials of perfumery. $95 at The Perfumer's Apprentice.

And back to pretty: the lovely new packaging for Monyette Paris, "one of the top cult-favorite perfumes of all time". Available in 50 ml Eau de Parfum ($70) or 3.6 ml Perfume roll-on ($45) at b-glowing.

In the "gotta start 'em young" category, for the discerning young lady on your list, Bratz Cloe Eau de Toilette; 50 ml for $18.99 at Target. And for the young gentleman, Marvel's Hulk cologne for men, $12.92 at Amazon (also available in Captain America and X-Men Storm).

And the stocking stuffer: Gingerbread Man oatmeal soap from Jay Design, $10.

Thanks for more great gift ideas!
It looks like there is one perfume missing from you list in the Pacifica liquid set. I believe it is Waikiki Pikake. I have the candle, which smells very nice. Hawaiian floral.
The notes set looks interesting. Will look at that further later today.

Thanks — I didn't notice, and you're right, one is missing. It isn't listed on the Pacifica site so I'll have to assume it's the Pikake. I should also have noted that they've got another set with Mexican Cocoa, Avalon Juniper, Sandalwood, Tibetan Mountain Temple and Spanish Amber, same price.

The perfumery kit looks like a fun gift (for me anyway). It's a sort of modern-day chemistry kit (as a child I always asked for those!).

Lots of people on MakeupAlley ordered that kit & people seemed to be very happy with it…

Oh, please stop! I am going to resist temptation, but I'd love that perfumery notes kit.

Those Pacificas look seriously CUTE packaged like that. Note that they also have a Candle set for $50 and Soap set for $40 — also, for those not into the fruit-floral range (which I'm not), they're also offering the sprays/solids with several from their wood-spice line. Also, 20% off through today on their site, and free shipping for orders over $50. Hmm… who can I still buy for?

    Yay, thanks for the tip!

I try to resist loving the guava scent, but it gets me every time.

I have almost ordered that kit a couple times, but for the moment I'd rather not recognize any more aromachemicals than I already do (not many). I find it sort of disconcerting.

Pacifica really is a great resource for not-too-expensive gifts — I could have done a whole post just from their site.

Where were the reviews on MakeupAlley? I used every search term I could think of and I couldn't find them at all.

I am very tempted to order one of the Perfumer's Apprentice sets for myself as a sort of Xmas gift, I have to say.

Maybe it never got reviewed, but try some board searches…for awhile, they were doing a “note a day” program where everyone tried the next note in the kit.

pyramus, Perfume Shrine does note series, such as incense, leather, jasmine, chypre, etc….. is that what you're looking for?
