Holiday fragrance gifts 2008 part 4

Posted by Robin on 5 December 2008 19 Comments

From Annick Goutal: the Les Soliflores set, with 50 ml bottles of Eau de Toilette in La Violette, Neroli, Le Jasmin, Le Chevrefeuille (Honeysuckle) and Le Muguet (Lilly of the Valley). $400 at Saks Fifth Avenue.

And an option for men (or women who like to borrow): The Geo. F. Trumper Collection, with 30 ml bottles of cologne in the brand's Astor, Curzon, Marlborough and Wellington fragrances, each in a "distinctive glass bottle with our famous crown stopper". £40 at Geo. F. Trumper in the UK.

L'Artisan's Noel candle: "Close your eyes and remember the heavenly story... Here is the Christmas Candle bearing its gifts under myriads of shooting stars. Here is the silent, holy night of peace and rejoicing. And Christmas bliss hidden within the fragrant curls!" With notes of cedar, pepper, nutmeg and cinnamon; $50 for 60 hour burn time at Luckyscent.

What every perfumista wants: more samples. This set is from Histoires de Parfums, and is $20 for all 12 of the line's fragrances. If you're flush, it would be the perfect thing to present along with a gift certificate to buy the fragrance of the recipient's choice. Available at Beautycafe.

For a teacher gift, perhaps, or to present individually as stocking stuffers, the Crabtree & Evelyn "Hands on Travel Kit", with four travel sized tubes of hand cream (Gardeners Hand Therapy, Rosewater Hand Therapy, La Source Hand Therapy and Summer Hill Hand Therapy), $28 at Crabtree & Evelyn.

That Goutal set sure is pretty, but I think my own internal private Santa will be sending for those Histoire samples…

    Ditto!

But — so pretty! If I were a slightly different girl…

Cracking up at “internal private Santa” — yep, I've got one of those too!

I want the Trumper set and it is pretty cheap too but I know nothing about this brand. Has anyone tried any of these and if so, what do you think?

I have tried quite a few from the Trumper line, and like several of them — unfortunately, these aren't the ones I know! You might check the reviews at Basenotes, I'll bet these are covered there.

I really want the Holiday Candle from L'Artisan – I am in such a Christmas mood right now!!!

I've been wanting to try the Histoires de Parfums line, even though Noir Patchouli, Ambre 114, 1969 and 1740 are the only ones that really get my attention. I'd still like to try the whole line though.
I put it on my Christmas list.
Even though if I don't like them I'd feel pretty bad about my family wasting $20 D: D: D:

Aw, heck, I think we each owe it to ourselves to buy the Histoires de Parfums set as a gift-to-self. Or as I like to think of it, and end-of-year reward-to-self.

I want one of those too — have only tried a few from the line. $20 isn't too bad a price…

Should I be embarrassed that I've never even *heard* of the Histoires line?

Also, I'd really like that Goutal soliflores coffret if the bottles were only 15ml or 20ml. As is, it's definitely out of range…. oh well.

Gosh no — they're not very well distributed here at all. And with you on the 15 ml, wouldn't that be a great travel set?

How many do you get, 12?

At luckyscent I can get about 6 for $20, and I think Aedes sample thing is 7 for $15? (btw I have samples from Aedes coming so now I can finally try some of the Diptyque line :D :D :D)

I just picked up the Illume Balsam & Cedar candle. It is very nice.

It's like the smell of a home during the holidays, complete with the tree, fir boughs, and holiday cookies baking in the oven. I burned it while baking the holiday cookies yesterday and the smell was heavenly.

Yes, it would take awhile to drain all those bottles!

Hey, that sounds really nice! I swear Xmas trees don't smell as strongly as they used to…
